Also they made me check in my fairly small and light carry on bag resulting in its contents arriving broken!"

Cons: "Was not informed that checking in online is the only way to secure a seat. So, regardless of whether you book your tickets 3 months in advance or the day before, you're not actually guaranteed a seat unless you check in online. We weren't told this until we were at the airport and checked in there that we might not be able to get our pre-booked in advance flight because of over-booking from KLM. We then had to wait and see if there were seats available when boarding. Luckily, there were, but we were not sat together. Not the greatest start to our first holiday together as a couple. We were told that if there weren't seats available, they'd pay for us to get to another airport to fly out, which would have meant a huge delay on the only time off we'd get together this year and have to rearrange our pre-booked and pre-paid living arrangements for the week. All because there wasn't a lot of emphasis on the need to check in online before hand. You'd think if someone checked in at the airport, that would be more of a guarantee that they'd be flying with you that day, but apparently not. Definitely not impressed or happy with this part of the KLM experience. This is the only company that we've had this problem with, they should make it clearer that it is essential to check in online."

Furthermore I couldn’t use the check-in kiosks because my name was listed as Reidmr instead of Reid, which meant that my boarding pass did not match my passport. Overall this caused unnecessary delays that were compounded by the fact that I couldn’t use my TSA precheck. My main problem on the plane was that I had to struggle to get water served to me. It’s always so dry on planes and I would have liked to be able to get more than one tiny glass of water at a time. Also, would have loved a window at my window seat. Plus no WIFI!?"

For the second time in a row, I was told that there is no overhead space left and that I need to check my bag while I was boarding. I saw that this wasn't the case when I got on board. Needless to say that waiting to pickup my carry-on at my destination added an unnecessary half an hour to my trip."

Cons: "It was awful. Flight was delayed for 3 hours because united couldn't get a pilot here who was even coming from a warm weather destination so weather shouldn't have been a problem. Poor planning. There was another flight I tried to get on but they couldn't seem to locate their flight attendants and it was delayed about 6 hours."

Pros: "United, as always, was professional and efficient. Once I was able to find the information from price line for my check in, everything went smoothly. I was impressed that the airline sent an email suggesting a change of itinerary due to weather in Chicago, and waived change fees to facilitate this. I got home without cancelled or delayed flights."
Cons: "The kayak to price line to united interface led to communication breakdown. I received no notice to check in for my departing flight, and had to dig through several messages and 2 websites to find the appropriate confirmation number. It should be clearer who you are actually purchasing from, and there should be better fail-safes in place to prevent loss of information"

Cons: "UA5132 SBP -> LAX -> ORD My return flight wasn’t better. I arrived at the airport early because I couldn't check in online. First United staff couldn't find my reservation for 10/9. When they finally did I was informed that the flight, once again, was delayed for more than an hour and that there was a high likelihood that I'd miss my connection, once again, to my final destination. I ended up having to select a completely different flight the following day. So I missed an entire day of work. Not surprisingly, this flight was also delayed, landing 30 minutes late."

Cons: "I knew I had a layover in Chicago but what I didn't know was that I would have to sit on a plane for over an hour with no air conditioning. It was incredibly hot and because of this I missed my flight to LA which took off earlier than my ticket said."

At airport, sent to SAS desk, and after a 1 hour wait in line, sent to United desk -- that was the airline Lufhanse assigned us to (months in advance, based on flight times) but never to us about the switch. United desk was about to close and we nearly missed the flight -- seat assignments made at the last minute at the gait. We'll try to to avoid air travel in the future. Just too hairy and full of uncertainties and frustrations. Only funny part was the sign at SAS checkin warning against assaulting the agents -- must happen a lot."

Cons: "The only snack available was a mix that had dairy. Other airlines, like JetBlue not only have a selection from which to choose, but at least one option is vegan."
