Pros: Friendly host... Beautiful place! I would definitely recommend it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What did we like - Everything. On arrival the only word that immediately came to mind was "Wow". It's amazing. The appearance from the courtyard is stunning. The interior is stunning. The rooms are huge & amazing. The owners are very friendly & welcoming. The breakfasts are plentiful & very well presented. We also opted for evening meals (based on dish of the day), it was like eating at a top class restaurant, Muriel should be on TV for chef of the year! If we are ever back in that area we will certainly be staying there again. The location is also perfect for the Somme attractions.
Cons: Nothing, it's excellent!

Pros: This chamber d'hote is a gem. It is situated on the outskirts of Albert in a quiet village. The rooms are large ,very well equipped and with lovely furniture and décor. Everything looks new and well cared for. The dining room is large and the breakfast superb. Breads and croissant, gallettes and home made yoghurts and jams. Cereals and fruit salad and meats and cheeses. We were spoilt for choice. Muriel the host speaks English and is very friendly. We stayed only one night but would have been happy to stay for longer. Very good parking and a comfortable outside area .

Cons: Having to leave.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent with large choice of different dishes to cater for all tastes, Muriel an excellent host and very helpful Room spacious, large and very French. Same with bathroom and separate toilet.
Cons: The first three days was very hot, over 40C, 3rd day being 43C, Being an Ozzie, not used to the windows and electric shutters so they remained closed until the 2nd last day then worked out how to open them, What relief having the hot air expelled and in-rush of lovely cool air. Advised Muriel that our windows are so different, she felt terrible but will advise how to operate with future guests from down under. I felt such a fool not working it out earlier.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have been travelling around France for the past couple of weeks and this is by far the most spectacular B&B we have stayed in!! Muriel has everything right here the decor and the attention to detail was spot on. The rooms are massive and decorated to a high standard,a large walk in shower a massive double bed and tea and coffee making facilities. Muriel even got up early and provided us with a full buffet breakfast on our way back to Calais. Nice and easy to find. Cant recommend this place enough.
Cons: Nothing!! this is by far the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Muriel know what she is doing and I look forward to returning on our next trip to France.

Pros: The breakfast was homely, authentic farmhouse fare, tasty and delicious, better than many top hotels. Our hosts were most welcoming and very friendly. Would recommend the location to any visitor visiting the war sites of the Western Front First World War and cemeteries.
Cons: we were happy with everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was my second visit to Grandcourt and my memories did not do the place justice. The new pool is lovely, although I forgot my swim suit. The farm is idyllic and lovely and Mireille is a fantastic host. Her breakfast remains incredible and was even better than I remembered. It's also conveniently close to many of Albert's major WW1 memorials. A really wonderful place - I hope I'll be back again soon!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was first class with as much as you wanted all home cooked, could not have asked for anything more. Will definitely stay there again if in that area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful and you are on a farm with Mireille's breakfasts...yum yum. Need a car to tour the sites but lovely hosts that couldn't do any more to make u feel welcome.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast which so many people have mention, it was very good. The pool, shower was hot and the bed comfortable.
Cons: I have a small problem with balance, the things I have problems with will probably be no problem for most people. Our bathroom for example there was two steps up to it without a handrail, in the shower there was no where to put shampoo etc except on the floor, could do with a shelf. I had assumed that the tea and coffee facilities were going to be in the room which would have worked well for me, but the B&B had a kitchen which you used to make the tea and coffee, the problem for me you had to go up three steps with no handrail. It was also the same in the swimming pool. Also some of main stairs did not have it either. This is no reflection on the B&B, my husband was able to help me. If I was on my own this would have coursed problems.

Pros: The welcome from Jennie was excellent. Her cooking for the evening meal & for breakfast was first class. We had the most superb evening around the dinner table with fellow guests whom we had never met before. The setting was very rural and peaceful & the property was well-appointed; although the bedroom & bathroom were a little small they were well-presented.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely little place with English owners who greeted us with warmth and kindness, banana bread and tea. They are extremely knowledgeable about the area and the First World War history. John did some research on our own family connection which was fascinating and for which we were extremely grateful. Absolutely delightful couple who couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was superb with plenty on offer and perfectly cooked.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet. Jenny was an excellent hostess, with a great knowledge of the local area.
Cons: We had two rooms booked. One of the rooms was very small. The toilet and shower area was very tight to maneuver in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming with a cold drink after our journey down from Calais. We would stay again. Breakfast set us up for the day visiting the war graves.
Cons: Nothing!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was very good because we wanted to see sites in the area. The breakfast was very good with the best croissants that we had eaten.
Cons: Not all rooms had a shower which was surprising since the property had recently been renovated. The beds were a little firmer than what we prefer.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Jennie and John were excellent hosts and did everything possible to make us comfortable. The most impressive help was the extensive research that John had done on my uncle who was killed in WW1, and the comprehensive personalised tour that Jennie gave us around the Somme Battlefields. Jennie cooked us delicious meals both nights and it was a nice family atmosphere.
Cons: Our room was clean and comfortable but a bit cramped. Fine for our purpose.

Hotel de la Basilique - Albert - Building
7
8.8 Excellent (224 reviews)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: wonderful boutique hotel in the centre of Albert. Service excellent & staff really friendly & helpful. If you stay, you must book in the restaurant - you will not be disappointed. Excellent food & service.
Cons: Double glazed windows at the front which helps reduce the noise from the street overnight (you can get quite a drone from a car as it drives up through the town). Personally, if I stayed again, I would book a room at the rear of the hotel, but I am a light sleeper so for others it may not be an issue & the double glazing did help to a large extent. However, there is no air conditioning, so in warmer weather, these rooms may become uncomfortable which then becomes a trade-off between noise or coolness... Also, the shower floor is very slippery - it could do with an anti-slip mat in the bathroom.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a superb property. Staff are lovely and the food is excellent. We always stay here when in Albert
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfortable, large room, good bathroom. Free on-street parking
Cons: No elevator!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is very well located in central Albert, for both enjoying this pleasant French town and the battlefields around it. Although compact, the rooms are very comfortable with large beds and spotless bathrooms. Tea and coffee facilities are included as is free mineral water. The restaurant attached to the hotel is very good as are others in the immediate vicinity. The tourist information office is right next door where you can rent a bike, an arguably more relaxing and peaceful way of exploring the battlefields than by car.
Cons: A continental breakfast is 10 Euros extra per person; it is fresh and convenient although some might find this rather a lot to pay for cereal, bread, croissants etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming and friendly staff. Clean comfortable room and lovely shower. Dinner was very good and excellent value for money. Being on a motorcycle parking was fairy easy.
Cons: The room was a bit warm, fortunately, being on the second floor, I was able to have some of the windows open during the night. No plug point beside the bed, I use a CPAP device so this is important to me. Fortunately I carry an extension lead so was still able to use it.
7.5 Good
Pros: Pleasant staff and super location
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Enjoyable one night stay. No issues at all . Dinner was very good. Breakfast coffee also worth it. This hotel is better than 2 stars. Lack of stars I would say is absence of lift. Clean and tidy and central position.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: For a night stop in Albert, the hotel was ideal, with a very comfy bed and a spacious room. We also had a very good meal in the restaurant in the evening. I would definitely use the hotel again
Cons: Only a slight comment, it was quiet hot night and there was no air conditioning in the room, but we did know this when we booked.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location Good standard in rooms and facilities Don't know it is only rated 2 star
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast , fresh coffee, nice atmosphere, good value
Les Eglantines - Mailly-Maillet - Building
8
9.0 Excellent (55 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Mailly-Maillet, Les Eglantines is a 5-minute drive from Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial and 8 minutes from Ulster Memorial. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This lovely house is in the perfect position for battlefield and memorial tours. Don’t expect a boutique hotel experience but if you enjoy warm homely places then this is for you. What really made our stay was our host Brigitte, she is generous, funny, engaging and has a wealth of knowledge about WW1. Brigitte is also a battlefield tour guide and will research your relatives in Involvement in the war if you contact her before your stay. She speaks perfect English (and French!) I don’t often review the places we stay but felt compelled after having such a lovely time.
Cons: The only downside to the property is that it is a bit of a drive to places to eat however Brigitte can offer meals if you arrange beforehand.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Brigette the proprietor was outstanding and was extremley helpful
7.5 Good
Pros: Bridget was lovely.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely country house, excellent host
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful quiet location and host looked after us so well. Cant fault it at all. Maybee a bit out of the way for some but if its country relaxation you want then this is ideal
Cons: No complaints. It was a lovely place
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bridgette was very welcoming, speaking very good English making conversation easier to arrange breakfast etc. She was able to recommend somewhere for dinner, even ringing to book a table for us. Recommend that you ask her to book in advance for you (if possible) as we were very lucky to get a table on the day, Auberge de la Vallee d'Ancre. Due to our friend's food intolerances, Bridgette also made adjustments to breakfast for us. Fresh bread each morning and fantastic jams (mom's homemade), fresh brewed coffee, including my decaff. Talking to Bridgette about the Somme and our great grandfather's service in 1916. Visit the Somme museum in Albert.
Cons: Would have loved to have stayed longer. Eat before you get to the area of Thiepval and Albert. Restaurants are in a very limited supply in Albert. Had to travel 20 miles for Sunday evening meal...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hospitality, excellent evening meals, comfortable accommodation.
L'auberge fleurie - Bresle - Building
9
8.6 Excellent (72 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Heilly, L'auberge fleurie is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of Notre Dame Basilica and Somme 1916 Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Located in a pretty village in the Somme area close to Albert. It is a little off the main road. The rooms are clean and adequate if a little spartan. Excellent for a nights stay while travelling or if exploring the Somme battlefields. There is a restaurant on site but it was closed on Monday - the night we stayed.
Cons: The Restaurant was closed which meant a trip to Albert. There were few places to eat open - this is in high season! There was a Tassimo Coffee maker but nonfunctional as there were no pods.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a most lovely place to stay. The room was spacious and spotless and I was made very welcome. After a long day cycling I treated myself in the restaurant. I can honestly say the roast beef was one of the finest meals I have eaten anywhere. A superb experience and I would highly recommend it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable. The meal in the restaurant was delicious and the bottle of wine was good value and excellent. The owners are very friendly. Do not judge the rooms and restaurant from the appearance of the building on the road. We had a lovely meal and a comfortable stay. This was a safe and secure stop not far from the autoroute and surrounded by the history of the Great War. (WW1). We would certainly stay again.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hosts Fabrice and Marie-Angelique are really friendly and welcoming. Excellent service all round.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here for one night and what a good night it was . We were made very welcome , and the hosts went the extra mile helping us with the menu (with our limited French) . The food really is excellent , highly recommended . Breakfast a bit limited but to be honest we were still full from the night before .
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts. Rooms are old however clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable. Had dinner in the restaurant and was more than happy - food was fabulous.
Cons: Probably the due to the location however internet kept cutting out. No hair dryer provided in the room. Hot water took forever and had little pressure.
6.8 Good
Pros: Free parking. Good restaurant for evening meal only.
Cons: Bedroom is fairly basic chalet-style at the back of the Auberge. Nobody on-site until 5pm so there is no access to any facilities or check-in before then. Breakfast is a cold buffet delivered to the room the night before because the auberge is closed in the mornings until about 10am. Very few local shops or any other facilities in the village.
7.0 Good
Cons: Shower curtain was dirty on the bottom No tea/ coffee facilities
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the little separate rooms; loved the restaurant meals; loved the location and loved the owners friendliness, helpfulness. - and sharing of local history.
Cons: Unfortunately the restaurant closed on Sunday and Monday evenings - two of the days we were there and we were not informed before booking. The breakfasts were fine and delivered to each room the previous night - this meant though that the bread was cold and tough. Price of the meals to be had in the restaurant was not correct on the booking.com ad. Those prices were for 'the workers' - ours were more expensive.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts, excellent atmosphere & warm welcome.
Cons: Coffee machine in room was awkward to use. A kettle and French press would be much better.

Cons: Intermittent noise from a vent over the window in the evening was irritating but it stopped of its own accord. A small refrigerator in the room would be a helpful addition to the room's facilities.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Nice touch having hot drinks on tap and pleasant outside area to relax
Cons: Location was good walk into Albert i.e. approx. 25/30mins. Preferred to walk once having experienced the high cost of a taxi.

Cons: The breakfast was very minimal. Bread and yoghurt, although we were allowed to fry eggs for ourselves on a griddle. Two other guests asked for cheese and they got some, but they had to make an issue of it.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff who attended us is nice
Cons: The flies in the dining room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Location and facilities top class and authentic instead of normal hotel bland feel. We were in the area on 1st July to commemorate the Battle of the Somme. Location perfect as only a short drive to Theipval and the Ulster Tower. Would have no problem recommending the accommodation to anyone and would definitely use it again myself.
Cons: I find it hard to fault the accomodation as it was reallly homely. Perhaps need to mention the stairs which could be an issue if you have young kids or elderly. I had to really think hard to find something wrong and this didn’t affect us at all.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staffs was very friendly and considerate (they can speak both French and English). We have booked Superior Double Room for three people and we got private bathroom, living room with TV, kitchen & two rooms (1 single bed and 1 double bed). The room was clean and perfect, it definitely gave off homey feeling. For those who needs WiFi doesn't need to worry about it at all. They do have perfect WiFi connections even though I didn't use it there were full internet bars and don't forget to ask for the password since it's not provided in your room nor instructions of how to get it. The breakfast is very simple; 3 different kinds of jams, butter, eggs which you can bake them on this pan and french bread. They do also have coffee and tea for you to choose. Everything is self service and at the dinning hall are two long tables which you just have to take your own seats. The locations are very ideal for those who are looking for somewhere quite and wants to bicycle around (especially you want to visit the military graveyards of WOII and WOI. I definitely recommend visit Amines (known for Jeanne D'arc).
Cons: There was nothing I don't like about. The value of price and rooms were great! The only remarks will be that one of their sink's water pipe (in the kitchen) works but it's very loose that it came out. But that was no problem since it can be easily fixed and we didn't had any problem with it but I wanted to leave it as remarks since some people will definitely complain about it. The only I didn't like about was the fellow group guests who was being rude to the owners of the B&B (there was obvious signs of "no entry" but they just went inside without any hesitations. Those group of people even decided on when the breakfast is finished without asking other guests if they are done with their breakfast so they can turn off the heater of the pan. Of course, once in a while you will eventually meet rude customers who don't think about others.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wholesome healthy breakfast
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for WWI battlefields.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were lovely and very friendly. The room was well appointed and had everything for my night's stay. A very good breakfast was provided. I was even able to buy a few bottles of cold beer for the evening!
Cons: It's a bit odd to pay cash at the venue but not really a problem. Good value for my stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really sweet personal and a very nice place to stay for a couple of nights.
Cons: The beds could have been better, but it was not the biggest of problems
5.5 Okay
Pros: Geographical-fine. Cheap but at 50eu per night more choice at breakfast should be possible
Cons: Breakfast was very poor, no staff visible. Luke warm coffee, no cereal. no toast, no cheese, watery Orange juice. Only:- small fruit yoghurt, French bread sliced. Jam / marmalade but no butter. No sign of any staff. Fire bell clanging for at least 10 mins mid afternoon. Mold in shower. Bedding and pillows worn out. Sharing pot of coffee with everyone.

Cons: The staff were fine. I suppose the fact that we didn't speak much french was our problem, not theirs.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rustic hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location in the town good free parking, Family run very good Restaurant we ate in good bar and Wine selection, the Lady made us a large 12 egg Omelette to share for breakfast good selection of Breads and Croissants with Fruit, Cheese, Jams etc the Family really look after you will go back again
6.3 Good
Pros: Decent pizzeria directly opposite; short walk to town centre with good coffee shops (Poppy Coffee Shop especially) and restaurants.
Cons: Arrived Saturday expecting to have dinner, only to be informed that the restaurant was closed; no further explanation was forthcoming, nor when it might open. Monday lunchtime it opened and remained so that night, by which time we'd made other arrangements. Even accepting the language barrier this was easy to improve.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly welcome, comfortable room. The hotel is five minutes from the town centre. Streety parking outside entrance.
Cons: I am not a great fan of continental breakfast but there was agood choice .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, they were sympathetic to our basic french. The rooms had great facilities. Kettle etc.
Cons: Nothing. A great hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: Old hotel but comfortable and welcoming, well located and with easy parking close by. Useful to have kettle and teamaking tray. Had good Sunday lunch in the hotel restaurant when much else closed in town. Noisy plumbing. Stayed one night, and enjoyed touring the ww1 memorials and learning history of the area.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location Comfortable, clean beds Plenty of extra towels and bedding Tea and coffee making facilities Fridge with complimentary bottled water Fans in the room on one of the hottest days/nights of the year You can eat on site however it was only a short walk into the centre of Albert to have dinner and drinks at the Hygge opposite the beautiful church We had a lovely stay in general and fully appreciated the host letting us into the property after he had clearly settled for the night, as we were unable to work the security lock to gain entry
Cons: It is advertised that the hosts do not speak English, which is surprising but only because of the location Makes communication difficult but not impossible Breakfast is additional at 11€ which when paying nearly 100€ for a room seems slightly overpriced
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Richard was a great host he has limited English but we could communicate A beautiful town and war history Food at hotel was wonderful French food a nice experience of a small French town
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: I'm struggling here!
Cons: The welcome was perfunctory, restaurant and bar were shut, breakfast was well below what should be expected. No hot water in taps or shower and the plug in the sink did not work. It is also on a busy main road.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good place for a one night stop while we as a family were travelling to Paris. Clean room for 4 people. Shared bathroom is not our thing. There were no towels. We had a fine breakfast. The owner was nice and supportive and spoke English. And overal it is cheap!
6.8 Good
Pros: We haven't tasted this good coffee since I left home! :) The kids got an extra treat for breakfast. Nutella. Good price for a nights sleepover.
Cons: It's confusing when you arrive, and there is no sign telling you that this is La Briqueterie. It looked more like a private farm, than a B&B. Noise, music and talking travelled through the rooms with great ease. Making it hard for our children to fall asleep. And "stressing" us parentes the next morning because of our childrens loud voices :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We love baguettes and butter with our coffee, and the orange juice was an extra treat. Our places were set at the table, and our coffee appeared the moment we sat down. Everything was fresh, tasty, and nourishing - we felt ready for a day walking around the WWI battle-fields.
Cons: It's hard to say, really. If you don't like farms you should probably find somewhere else to stay, but we loved the agricultural region with its hectares upon hectares of potatoes, barley and colza. A cattle operation has its own distinctive atmosphere, which some might find oppressive, but for us it was just one more note in a pastoral symphony! Delightful.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the location was great. The gentleman who received us was very friendly.
Cons: The room was spartan. A comfy chair or two would have been nice. The TV remote was missing. The breakfast consisted of sliced baguette, jam and a small pot of yogurt and coffee. Even for a continental breakfast that was very skimpy.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very homey, you feel a part of the household. Friendly and helpful host.
Cons: It was noisy at times. Basic facilities.
7.5 Good
Pros: Perfect for a nightly stop on the road! You don’t pay much so you can’t expect much! For us it was nothing more we needed. Friendly people that are doing there best to help where they can.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The accommodation is extremely central for what we were looking for
Cons: The accommodation needs some TLC. The beds weren't that comfy and felt that the rooms and the shared bathroom facilities were needing a good clean. I was advised on my confirmation I only had £56 to pay however had to pay the full £125. This should have been advised by booking.com before I travelled.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location and very helpful owner; exactly what we needed as a base to explore the surrounding area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value and excellent location. We tour the battlefields, and this was a nice, cosy, comfortable, neat little place, with everything we needed. Highly recommended, will stay here again. Thank you.
Cons: I don’t really know...I guess maybe we could have had eggs and bacon for breakfast...lol...
7.0 Good
Pros: Basic accommodation at a very competitive price, Proprietor very helpful & friendly.
Cons: Shared lavatory / shower. wi fi only available in public areas
