9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved the pool, and the privacy-screened hot tub area was a welcome surprise after a day in the car. We slept through breakfast but the lovely ladies made sure my husband and daughter got waffles. Outstanding! Plus, it’s a 15 minute drive from the Marfa lights.
Cons: This hotel was super friendly and helpful— I’d suggest providing a list of good area restaurants beyond the Reata and the Holland Hotel. It’s not necessarily the hotel’s fault but we couldn’t find a single thing to watch on TV and really wanted to relax and veg out after dinner, a swim, and 7 hours of driving. There were tons of channels but nothing worth watching or family-friendly. We’ll bring the Chromecast next time and hope for strong WiFi.
8.0 Excellent

Pros: This was a great surprise! We were just traveling through and decided to stay in Alpine. The property and staff were wonderful! Super friendly. They have “happy hour” in the afternoon with free beer, wine, soda and snacks. This was great after a very long day on the road. The breakfast was great! I would definitely recommend this property!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We chose not to have breakfast . The location was great!
Cons: There was something going on in the bathroom. It looked like there was black mold on the bottom frame of the mirror. Other than that everything was clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great and the happy hour every weekday was really nice.! Beds were comfortable and plenty of towels. Staff was extremely helpful.
Cons: The pool was down for maintenance!
10.0 Excellent

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and comfortable.
Cons: The pool was closed. When asked, the manager said it was closed due to a child's accident. The accident was the night before and nothing was done. They had just started cleaning the next afternoon. The manager was EXTREMELY rude!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Free happy hour!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A well located modern hotel with friendly stagg
Cons: In my opinion, the cleaning approach could be improved at this hotel. On one hand, I saw a lot of cleaning staff and carts in the corridor. On the other hand, we lived in two rooms and both had issues - some of the towels didn’t look fresh at all, some toiletries were clearly unchanged after the previous guests, and the bath tub in one of the bathrooms smelled real strange.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: That the the staff was friendly and that you had a happy hour for your guests in the afternoon which think it is Great

Cons: The beds
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and quiet, friendly staff. Great night of sleep on a nice bed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was a little far from Big Bend National Park but the charm of the city made up for it. The breakfast was impeccable. They were very conscious of health offering yogurt fruit smoothies, fresh pressed juice and egg white frittatas and plenty of fruit. The best was very comfortable, it really did feel like sleeping on a cloud. The view from the hotel was amazing, you could see the sun set over the hills. We also enjoyed the warm pool and hot tub.
Cons: The bathtub was very creaky for some reason, I felt like I was waking up the entire hotel when I moved in the shower. The first guy who greeted us could have been a bit more chipper to see us but who knows, maybe he was just tired that night because the next day we saw him, he was much more friendlier.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast had a variety... very delicious
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The salmon special dinner was very good. We shared this dinner & it was more than enough. The ice cream cookie was very frozen but we enjoyed anyway..
Cons: No complaints
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location and patio were awesome!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was okay for a prepackaged-goods continental breakfast. It is a restored historic hotel, exactly as advertised. It has great nostalgia or historic value and feelings. The staff was accommodating is several ways, but most importantly in being willing to share the legends about the hotel. In that way it was extreme fun for a pair of brothers in our 70s. It's a good place to go if you want to feel a part of the past, which fits with the area which has a feeling of a past world, too.
Cons: There were many neat pictures from the past of Alpine, but they were not labeled well. Almost none identified the subject (many of the people names probably did not matter), but I did not find any dated. We used cars and clothing to guess for some. But the more recent archeological dig was laid out looking much like a photography workshop in a cave, again without a date. Fortunately, the clerk knew some details of the dig.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have no complaints whatsoever. It was awesome.
7.0 Good
Pros: Old charm
Cons: Most of the rooms front the Main Street. There are raillroad track directly across from the hotel and trains coming through all night long blowing their horns, please do be sure and use the earplugs although they don't help very much with train horns
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel! Fantastic bar! Delicious restaurant! Staff was awesome. Room was priced excellent
Cons: The room was small for my taste. The bed wasnt that comfortable. The view of the mountains from our window was blocked by a less than attractive building. The seats in the restaurant courtyard were uncomfortable. The restaurant prices were a bit high.
7.5 Good
Pros: The entrance is very nice and the girl in the front desk very nice.
Cons: The rooms are kind of old and the rugs a little bit dirty. Definitely the breakfast needs an improvement due the money you are paying for.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room good, staff were all great. Location is convenient to the places we wanted to visit over the three days that we were in the area. Being able to open the window in the morning and let the cool morning breeze into the room while enjoying coffee was an unexpected treat. Restaurant was very good, both service and food.
Cons: Bananas at the grab and go breakfast would have been great. Our room was at the end of the hall on the west end of the building. The afternoon sun beating on that wall heated the room so that the air conditioning could not keep up. First night sleep was difficult even with the ac set to 70 degrees and ceiling fan on. Second day was cloudy so that wall did not heat up so sleeping was nice and cool.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Mattress was wore out , toilet hand broke, ceiling paint was peeling, bathtub drain was clogged , everything looked like the owner was running on a shoestring,no attention to details, nor cleanliness. Sad
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location if you're staying in Alpine or for easy access to Big Bend. Restaurant and bar were excellent, service was thoughtful and fast. Hotel staff and housekeeping went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. And the room was great!
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Lobby sloppiness and overall sloppiness short of food for breakfast
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The ambiance of the vintage hotel was amazing.
Cons: The breakfast was good. But I would have liked to have seen more warm stuff to eat.

Pros: Clean bathroom.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Well located and in good repair. Good price for the season.
Cons: The staff was rigid. We arrived 30 minutes early and was made to wait until 3:00 to check in. In years of travel this was a first. The air in our room worked but not well. Some kind of coffee mix at breakfast. Not real coffee
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Friendly staff. Good breakfasts.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The pillows were good.
Cons: Too much to list. The noise from upstairs and the dog barking and doors shut automatically to the rooms and they are loud too. The Mountain View was ruined by obstructions from the hotel. The ironing board was broken and the replacement board cover had wrinkles. The tub drain wouldn’t stay up. The remote control wouldn’t work until you took out the batteries and put them in again. The curtain to the room window didn’t open up from the right side. The room took a long time to cool. The staff wasn’t helpful nor professional. It was bad except the location but there are other places to stay next time in the same location.

Cons: Dirty under bed terrible
8.0 Excellent
Pros: No carpet
Cons: Small bathroom with tiny, dark shower. Noisy bed. It was creepy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the updated vintage homey feel. Very western decor.
Cons: Not much to dislike. The original bath was small but worked fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is my second time staying at the Maverick. My husband and I love it so much we'll be staying here for all the football games. I had some very important business to handle and needed to use their phone amd computer and they allowed me to. THANK YOU MAVERICK!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool was awesome!
Cons: It was adorable and very well kept.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cool little vibe to this hotel in the middle of nowhere. Stopped on our way west from San Antonio for a night. Was the perfect resting spot. The pool was excellent, however it was super cold considering it was pushing 100 outside. Wasn't expecting that
Cons: Hotel room was a little smaller than I expected but we did not need it for much more than sleeping. The bathrooms however were super tiny and hard to maneuver in.
6.8 Good
Pros: Larger room with nice sitting area outside room. Pool was clean and had a deep end which was a bonus. Air conditioner was super quiet.
Cons: Staff ran out the door right after we checked in. The tv was not hooked up properly. Leaving us to troubleshoot. My biggest complaint was the fact the room was not serviced. Prior to our second night. Additionally, cleaning staff filled the trash can in front of the office. Stuffing our trash on top was down right gross.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was minimum at best. Coffee, fruit box juices, small granola type bars, fruit and oatmeal.
Cons: Upon arrival the TV didn't come on. This was no big deal, it was the remote but was disappointed the room had no clock, telephone or coffee maker. Also, no coke machine on the premises. These seem like insignificant things but are something you expect in a motel. Also, the bathroom was very small with no tub. The breakfast was minimal at best. Coffee, fruit box juices, small granola type bars, fruit and oatmeal. Not enough for the money!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room & attendants were all good, but the bath shower water flow was very sorry. Due to the stall and water flow, I most likely won't book there again. Sorry!!!
Cons: Due to the stall and water flow, I most likely won't book there again. Sorry!!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The young man at the front desk was pleasant and attentive. My family liked the room and space. They especially liked that the beds were separated by the bathroom to give everyone a little more space and privacy. I liked how you could park your car in front of the room. My kids enjoyed the pop-tarts for breakfast. If I was visiting Sul Ross University, it would be a great place to stay. I liked the retro feel of the decor.
Cons: There is not much you can do about it, but our room was very close to the road. I was a little nervous about the road noise, but once we were asleep it did not affect us. If I was to suggest an improvement, it would be to have better window coverings to darken the room. We did swim in the pool, I liked how the pool deck was covered with artificial grass. I was bothered by the pool light being open and not in an enclosed case.
6.8 Good
Pros: I loved the quaintness of it
Cons: The bathroom was super cramped. The shower head was not powerful at all

7.0 Good
Pros: The rooms were very spacious and clean. The staff was friendly.
Cons: The breakfast did not look appealing at all. We ate breakfast elsewhere. There were lots of workers (railroad or oil company) who were noisy early in the mornings, not a hotel issue but ruined my stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice big room with a couch, microwave, and mini-fridge.
Cons: Power to TV and adjacent lamp was out in the morning. Couldn’t turn off close captioning on cable stations. Parking lot needs resurfacing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean. Nice location. Nice free breakfast
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was on par with "continental" at most competing establishments. This place was quiet, which is a VERY good thing, sounds from outside and TV's from other rooms didn't permeate! MANY of the newer hotels seem to have zero sound insulation. This one didn't have that problem.
Cons: No hot tub or pool...I knew this when I booked but I was jealous that the Holiday Inn Express in view of my room window was equipped as such. Nothing like a hot tub soaking to sooth the bones after a days ride.
7.5 Good
Cons: Plumbing needed work , toilet wasn’t flushing very well.
7.5 Good
Pros: The rooms were comfortable, breakfast could improve, ok for price.

Pros: I liked the diner on location.
Cons: At our arrival, I was told the staff had walked off and there was no one to check us in. After insisting that someone better check us in (we had traveled from Houston) two of the diner employees made some phone calls and someone helped them check us in. However, we had to wait for those same diner employees to clean up some rooms for us. I was very upset about all of this!!!!
