10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, next to the Duomo.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The apartment was beautiful in a building dating back to 1583. Location amazing - very close to the Cathedral. The whole family were very kind and helpful. Huge tasty breakfast.
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: This b&b is good for younger generation, It is positioned in the centre of Altamura with all types of evening activites all round , however such location comes at a price .
Cons: the place is a restored old building in the centre of the city , space is limited . however the non accessibility to a lift to take to upper levels made it a bit tough to climb three flights of stairs , something suitable for a fit person , but not for us . when we booked this place , one of the filters was the availability of car parking , the answer came as yes car parking is available near by , the surprise was it is about 500 meters away and it has to be paid via a meter . my comment was this is not what i expected and some better terms should be applied to distinguish real free on site car parking facilities and available parking .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very central. Very friendly owner.
Cons: Could be a little noisy for some people as it is on the center of the city, but was totally fine for us.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: location. very clean room. friendly staff.
Cons: breakfast could improve
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property was really cool and unusual
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved B&B del Duomo! The owner's hospitality was absolutely exquisite, the place is beautifully decorated and everything is brand new, our room was beautiful, the breakfast was great and we felt at home. We had a wonderful stay and would love to go back! Moreover, the location is just perfect and the owner had a lot of time for us, to explain everything and give us tips. We loved it!
Cons: Everything was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well it doesn't get better than this!! The is the most beautiful B&B I have been to. If I could give 12 out of 10 I would. The owner is friendly and speaks English, this is his house, it is beautiful with beautiful rooms and furniture. This places puts some expensive hotels to shame. Beautiful breakfast as well in the beautiful breakfast room. Normally you go to a town to see the sights and stay somewhere. You go to Altamura to see this B&B and then the town. It is in the street next to the main church, so easy to find and a 25 min walk from the station.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, you can almost touch the cathedral from the great roof top! Great breakfast, amazing value for money. Super friendly host who made us feel home and gave us great tips on his beautiful city. I will certainly go back when I'm next in this area. One of the best.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superclean, friendly host, good restaurants on a walking distance. Perfect price-quality!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts daughter met us at the door and spoke quite acceptable English. She did the book-in process very efficiently and then showed us around the communal area and our top level unit. Her father who spoke no English also tried to help. Whole interior of the building has been beautifully renovated and our room was at top of stairs with a very large balcony. Room was very clean, spacious and modern. We were given a parking pass for our car.We were walked through the narrow streets to a local restaurant which we did book for us. It was good to have an introduction as we are always eat much earlier than the locals. Also they came to find us as we could move the car closer to the residence. Breakfast next morning was a selections of breads, fruit and good coffee. The owners wife baked a cake which was delicious.
Cons: Be aware that if you are not fit or have very large bags, the climb up the fours levels can be quite a challenge although I am sure the host would have helped.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful stay. Thank you so much to Luca and Samaria. The room was enchanting with it's special touches. We recommend it to everyone. Richard Prowse
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Angelo is the most pleasant and gracious host, talking to us about the history of Altamura, making restaurant recommendations, and his family. In fact, the B-n-B was his family's home for 20 or more years. Our top floor room with terrace and private bath was very clean and beautiful. In the morning we had a very relaxed breakfast which featured a delicious ricotta cake made by his wife. Fruits, yogurts, other pastries, and of course caffe rounded out the offerings. Angelo speaks a few words of English; guests should be prepared to use their Italian and the universal point and nod. Truly, a simple and pleasant bed and breakfast and host can not be found. A gem.

Pros: Nice host, great location, home made breakfast
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean place in very good location. Friendly hosts.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Altamura is famous for delicious bread. The woman and her father served the fresh bread that they bought early morning. It was very delicious and I want to eat again. The room is very comfortable. Her father gave me a ride to get on the bus, but, I couldn't find the bus stop. He sought for it hard, and I could get on the bus.
Cons: nothing

Pros: Friendly hostess with an amazing breakfast - all the cakes and bread were made by the hostess herself. We struugled to communicate as my Italian is non existing but with Google translate we had an amazing time in Altamura ! Will definitely go there again !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sited in a little court (Claustro) off the Piazza San Giovanni, there is complete peace and quiet even though only four minutes walk from the Duomo, the heart of the City of Altamura. My room had a stone vaulted ceiling which gives both beauty and coolness. The owner prepared a varied and attractive breakfast with lots of choice, setting one up for the day. She was altogether kind.
Cons: I liked everything about it

Pros: The owner was very helpful and friendly. The whole place looks brand new from the big bold front door to the beautiful wood ceilings on the top floor. Fresh paint and nice new flooring. Second floor balcony was a nice place to have wine with friends. The hotel is very clean and in an easy to find location.
Cons: Every Center city has lots of cars but the owner invited us to use the space right in front.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a pleasant surprise. I have been many time in Altamura, but, for some reason, I never had the chance to stay in this bed and breakfast. It has been a very nice surprise! Great location, big and comfortable rooms, one of the best mattress I have had, very good breakfast with homemade cakes. All the personnel has been extremely helpful and kind. Last but not least, at a short walking distance a choice of great restaurants! I found my B&b in Altamura!

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Bio B&B Bacco Nella Gnostra in Altamura, you'll be a 2-minute walk from Altamura Cathedral and 8 minutes by foot from Altamura National Archaeological Museum.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well located in a quaint claustro
Cons: A bit humid in the room
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room had very nice decorations and furnishing. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet at night for sleeping. There was an air conditioner which helped with the heat and the airflow. Breakfast was the typical Italian kind of pastries and fruits and we were given some gluten free products as requested which was kind. It is very close to the main heart of the old town and it was a short drive to Matera for a day of sightseeing. Tre Archi and Pein Assutt were both fantastic restaurants nearby.
Cons: Our room had 5 perfume diffusers throughout the room so it was extremely strong (we ended up putting it outside and trying to air our room out with the window and door open). We didn't realize that the room was in what would have been an older form of a basement so the room was very humid and needed a dehumidifier. Although we were provided with a coffee machine and some coffee pods our cleaning person actually drank these as I noticed one missing the first day and the second day we came in to grab things before we left for the day while she had been cleaning and I noticed a fresh coffee had just been made (which explains where the first one went). The parking was also quite an adventure as it is located in the old town the streets are just barely wider than the car (Citroen C1) so it was a nail biting experience to park the car and we needed help finding our way through the one way streets. It was so difficult to figure out how to get out as well we almost got stuck as sometimes it is not clear what is a street and what is a dead end. A very nice local named Nuncia helped us find parking when we tried to get back the second time. She was very kind but it would have been good to have been given a map with instructions on how/where to park. We also were told later by Nuncia that we could not enter the old town with our car after 7pm without having to pay a fee as we didn't have a parking permit that you needed to park there and this should have also been explained beforehand. We were also located in a dead end area which teens liked to use to hang out and smoke so we had to walk through groups of them on our way to our room and one time they were using our patio to smoke which made the room smell as we were inside when it occurred and I had to ask them to move elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room and extremely comfy bed. Owner met us and helped find a parking spot. Very good stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where to start!!! This has got to be the most beautiful bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in!! We had a bit of a mix up en route - Liliana sent us a message asking us to ring when nearby so that she could guide us in as parking in the town is awful. Sadly we never recieved the message and drove around a little before actually finding a place in a road near the B&B. The room is off a quaint little courtyard - table and chairs outside to take breakfast if the weather is good. The bedroom is wonderful - a cave-like room, with cute niches, nik naks, Nespresso coffee machine, fridge and local wines available to purchase (we had two bottles - red and rose - and they were marvellous). In the bathroom are shampoos, body lotions, face cleansing mousse - all vegan and organic. Liliana will bring breakfast each morning - we had the sweet option - a tray packed full of gorgeous pastries, cakes, jams, croissants. A lovely way to start the day. At night we strolled through the narrow streets into the town where the nightly passeggiata made the streets busy. We had meals at Tre Archi restaurant, where we went for a tasting menu, which never ended!! A very busy restaurant - we got there very early and it quickly filled up. We also visited Ristorante del Corso where we were served by the lovely Nino. A bit more of an upmarket restaurant but again lovely food. Nino plied us with several glasses of Padre Peppe liqueur, a local brew made in Altamura. A bit of an aquired taste but nice. Altamura may not be as famous as its neighbour Matera, but its a lovely old town and worth a visit. If you go, do try and stay at bacco nella gnostra as you definately will not be disappointed.
Cons: Parking is a bit of a nightmare, but this is nothing to do with the B&B so I cant mark it as a dont like. Something to be aware of though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was fabulous, more that I expected. I was really surprised because it’s inside the center but in a very very quiet street !! Perfect place to enjoy the evenings at Altamura (lots of fun, bar, restaurants) ! The manager is so nice, understanding, lots of attentions every morning ! The room is confortable, good looking and soooooo clean !!! I spend 4 nights inside and I totally recommend you to spend a night there.
Cons: Just one little thing. The parking is a public place and can not be kept only for our car. But lots of other free places in the center. It was not a big issue
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The level of detail was exceptional, the organic wine and bathroom products, breakfast, linen, bed and bathroom all perfect.
Cons: The street lighting was very bright and it was difficult to keep the light out and have the window open, but that is our personal preference. There was a bit of noise from a water pump from next door. The stairs are uncomfortably low, narrow and slippery.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good host, good location, nice accommodation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the location, the shower and the bed
Cons: The breakfast served in a nearby bar was very good but according to the pictures posted in the ad i had the impression that the breakfast would be served in the location we were in The soap the shampoo and other washroom amenities were almost empty

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Modern, clean and fitted out to a high standard
Cons: The restaurant was closed on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday- we had booked this hotel specifically because it had it’s own restaurant and we knew that most places would be closed over on those two days. Nowhere on the hotel website or Booking.Com did we see anything to suggest that guests would not be able to get an evening meal on those two days.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is really good quality at a really good price. Most hotels in the area are overly expensive for the quality but this was superb. The staff are all really helpful and so friendly. There is really good underground car parking, well lit and wide spaces. A fairly short drive to Matera. The rooms are large and the air conditioning worked well (you may need to check with reception that it has been turned on for your room). Beds comfy and I slept really well.

Il Paradiso a Claustro Inferno - Altamura - Bedroom

9.9 Excellent (34 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner Nicola and his wife are really nice and full of precious suggestions on how to enjoy the town and the stunning surrounding. The room ar in a tipical flat with "star roof" and the rooms are fresh renovating and functional. Highly reccomanded!
Cons: Nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bus dropped me off miles from the property, but after someone contacted the owner for me, he came to pick me up and drove me to the property. He also volunteered to take me to the bus stop upon my departure. Apparently the small town does not have a taxi company. Plenty of hot water in the shower in the modern bathroom. Located in the middle of the wonderful old town area. I would recommend this bnb to friends.
Cons: I couldn't figure out the heating system and so was somewhat cool when in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located in the fortified Old Town of Altamura, Il Paradiso a Claustro Inferno is in convenient walking distance to the city square, yet it is in a small, quiet neighborhood of families. You are most likely to awaken to the sound of the breeze and the neighborhood children playing. I always felt safe.
Cons: Program the GPS on your smartphone with the b&b’s address as your ‘home’ location, so you can make the best of your time in Altamura. While scenery in the old village is lovely it is easy to get lost or locate a path back to Il Paradiso a Claustro Inferno. Add the other sights of interest and Nicoló, the owner’s suggestions of where to eat. Then take a tourist map which Nicoló provides in the lobby and mark off those locations. My GPS struggled to keep pace with my walks around town. It was very laggy and unreliable. Though comparatively small, Altamura has dozens and dozens of streets that can be overwhelming to the traveler. A little preparation on your part can solve you a lot of headache.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were treated like Royalty. Mateo took charge of making sure our accommodations were above our expections. We were more than delighted. The Front desk service with Carmen, our Waiters Otalio and Thomaso were the best. Our accommodations were perfect - great bed, pillow, bath, and shower. We loved the location just outside the city of Altamura with a great panaramic view. Our breakfast and dinners were great with the best table service. We will return here next year to spend more time in the surrounding areas of Pughlia. This property is a 5 star property.
Cons: Nothing - Niente
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Three main reasons: the staff, the staff and… the staff. From the highest in charge to the last and youngest of the employees, they all and at any given moment in attendance, to make your stay - a perfect experience. The outstanding among them all is undoubtfully Horatio, that gives the feeling that he’d waited all his adult life, for your arrival, big CHAPEAU!
Cons: Sometimes, small practicalities (e.g. shelves in the bathroom) are compromised, in favor of the overall ultramodern room design.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very engaged staff. Beautiful landscape and garden.
Cons: Very cold room a windy day in October. We got another room when the heating couldn't be fixed.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff was very kind and supportive. We missed pool and long chairs to sit outside. We were the only guests, more a location for weddings than for hotel guests.
Cons: We were not told that we were the only guests

Pros: Owners very welcoming and helpful, they love their city and they can provide you a lot of useful info and leaflets. Anna is and awesome cook and she prepare an impressive breakfast (handmade cupcake were delicious). Close to the center but still with free parking places just behind the building. Both the bedroom and the toilet very clean and comfortable.
Cons: I'm not sure if it's something you can ask, but the breakfast was "everything sweet" (so no bread, no ham, no cheese, ...) for somebody that could be not enough. No desk in the room. If in the living room there is noise (people talking for instance) it's very easy to ear from the room, and I guess it's true also the opposite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Angelo & Anna were extraordinary host & hostess. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting and visiting with them.
7.0 Good
Pros: friendy lady, family atmosphere, parking
Cons: noisy place and location surroundings,

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner waited patiently for my arrival from Bari, and over the next four days we had several interesting conversations. The property is in a very quiet cluster of small streets close to the old city of Altamura. In extremely hot weather it was a very good refuge from hot excursions (air con worked very well).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was big, nice and confortable. The owner was very kind and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: B&B Novecento is a lovely place to stay in Altamura. It is spacious, clean, and close to all of the sites. The king room with balcony is wonderful—you have the upper floor all to yourself. The room was a little cold at first but there is a thermostat for you to alter it to your taste. The bed is super comfy and, I think, memory foam. The bathroom has an excellent shower and the hot water is on point. The proprietor is incredibly kind and full of recommendations on what to do and where to eat. There was some noise—you can hear doors closing, echoes, and what not—but nothing to stop me from sleeping. I very much enjoyed my stay. I would definitely stay at B&B Novecento if and when I am next in Altamura!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Original place, host very friendly and accomodating.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The space was large and beautiful, which is not easy to see in the photos. The bed is very comfortable, as are the couch and chairs in the sitting room (I stayed in the quad room). You can't find nicer or more accommodating hosts. They picked me up from Bari airport and brought me back for a reasonable fee. Plus, having the kitchen to use was great. I used it 2 or 3 times a day.
Cons: The only real issue was that the doors have some space around them and they are not solid (thick) wood, so there is not a lot of sound privacy, even in the bathroom (which, for the quad room, is in the hallway). It might be a bit awkward for people who are shy about that kind of thing. But if a whole family or group of friends decides to rent the quad and the double room, they will have the whole floor to themselves and it would be a wonderful time, with no privacy issues. The stairs are steep, it's true: You just have to move carefully. Older people or anyone with a cane probably would not do well.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: - Very good value - Very good communication for the check in via texting using "WhatsApp" - Very kind to allow us to store our bags and check out late while we waited for our ride. - Super clean and cleaned perfect every morning at the same time - Very centrally located to everything - Superb large rooftop deck/patio overlooking the market area - Fast WiFi - Spacious, modern bathroom - Nice shower gel provided - Lots of windows for natural light - Lots of windows for breezes
Cons: - Other rooms are allowed to smoke and the smoke can be smelled upstairs - Pillows and mattress could use a refresh - Lots of steep stairs to climb (if you cannot do these) - No furniture at all on rooftop patio deck? Great place for plastic table and chairs.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location just off the cathedral. A slightly scruffy square which is the youth hangout on weekend nights (absolutely safe and not rowdy and the room has good window insulation). Pay parking (cheap) in the square and some free on the nearby streets if you are lucky. The B&B is at the other end of the small street from where the App shows. Sone fairly steep stairs lead up to an entry hall with 2 rooms and and a third floor triple room with a roof terrace. the room was tall with a coffered stone ceiling with a fun decoration. Ours had a fold away third bed in one closet. Good size with a modern windowless bathroom, The other double room had a larger bathroom with a window (photo on the site). Our room was airier and lighter but both rooms good. The room was furnished minimally. Breakfast 50 year away in the square. The cafe is a bakery and makes very good pastries and deserts - unusual for Italy. Good breakfast at bargain price. Efficient lovely welcome and check out. We ate in a fantastic meat restaurant called Osteria La Bottega del Maceillao. Just outside the old town, tucked in side street. Nicest people, great meat dishes (copious), cheapest price. Locals only. Altamura is a much better place to stay than Matera. A real town not a tourist trap.
Cons: Needs some attention on details. Only one bedside table which is also the light. Wifi weak and didnt work in the morning. The bathroom could do with an extractor fan (there is a vent with some tape - perhaps the fan broke?). The shower is missing the bracket to hold the shower head. The TV remote doesnt work. Uncomfortable pillows. Nothing terrible but the difference between very good and outstanding.

Cons: The bed was not good and there are too many steps and they are steep steps. We did not get our breakfast, because the bar was not open before 9. The price was good, but...

Cons: Nothing
