The. cleanliness was first class, the breeakfast beautiful Nothing
The room was very tidy and we especailly liked the large comfy bed, fantastic views from the bay window and a great breakfast
The location of the hotel and the comfort and privacy of the hideaway rooms Nothing
The staff were all very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable
Location, scenery, Friendly hospitallity, the unique style and setting of the hotel
Hide away rooms are a brilliant design
location, standard of facilities, service
Lovely room and comfortable bed, helpful staff
Pleasant comfortable small hotel. Excellent furnishings in keeping with Victorian age of building
Quiet and comfortable No telephone in the room
Clean tidy spaciousbedroom and immaculate bathroom. Excellent breakfast and pleasant, friendly service. Good location for local shops and nearby to beautiful countryside to explore.
Very clean, comfortable, pleasant staff and set right in the middle of Ambleside - we were looking at property for sale so we could walk almost everywhere.
The size of the rooms, its cleanliness and helpful staff
Room was very comfortable. Staff were helpful. eg when we caught a trout they found hotel that would cook it for us. Staff happy to cook eggs not already included in the buffet. Street noise, as we had a front room
very close to shops & pubs
Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast left a lot to be desired!! Bathroom very small There is a picture of a swimming pool outside the hotel but there doesn't appear to be one inside!
Felt we received value for money, staff very happy to assist. I would book this venue again.
location no bar, dining furniture student-like.
It was excellent all round. Lovely staff, great breakfasts, felt like being in a posh hotel but with the friendliness of a B&B. Good privacy, too. It could be more environmentally friendly. Towels do not need changing every day!
The quality of the decor and furnishing was excellent and the centrall location in Grasmere was perfect. Please write at least 15 words Lack of table seating for breakfast.
The bathroom, the location and the breakfast were outstanding! My partner and I found the beds to be uncomfortable and it was very hot on the third second floor, even with the heat turned off.
we wanted a quiet relaxing break for a couple of days and we got it. The hotel is very clean and the room and bathroom was fabulous. The buffet breakfast was great...a nice change from the typical fry up that you usually get in hotels. WE liked teh self service idea of it all and were able to relax in teh comfy sofa's eat our breakfast and relax with the paper
The Hotel was very comfortable for us and welcoming to our dog. The hot tub was great after a long walk out on the hills. The breakfasts were very good with a wide variety of choice both hot and cold. The Hotel lived up to its Organic billing.
The spa bath, the furniture in the room. Extremely comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was too hot even with the window open! it would have been good to have herbal teas in the room.
The room was excellent and very spacious, with a lovely bathroom. The whole hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
very high standard of accomodation very conveniant whats not to like
Everything about the hotel was perfect, in a really stunning village. Thankyou for a great stay. Will be back
Beautiful rooms, beautiful setting, very relaxing
Location and the small but adequate swimming pool. There was re-surfacing work going on, on the road outside the hotel and also noisy work at the rear of the hotel, outside our bedroom window.
Location, size of suite and restaurant Towels not changed daily
Relaxed atmosphere; Quiet; Accessible to surrounding area and walks; very good service; and good weather was a bonus
The staff were very friendly, breakfast excellent. Location superb The room we had was quite dark
the delightful staff who were all helpful and courteous and friendly. It was also a very comfortable hotel to stay in.
The bedroom was very comfortable and well furnished. The choice for breakfast was very good and very well cooked. Nothing
Relax No draught beer. Drinks a bit pricey
Excellent breakfast - Clean and comfortable room - Friendly staff
Very professional and well run Hotel. Staff were always on hand and nothing was ever to much trouble. The suite was superb and was cleaned daily to a high standard. The food was to a high standard and the visit was a nice way to spend a weekend.
Beautiful view, very near to Ambleside, a 10 minute walk into the town centre
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well as very professional. Nothing was too much trouble and all seemed to enjoy their work. Very pleasant atmosphere in the hotel as a result. Difficult for us to make wi-fi connection with our iPad. Meant we had to go to Costa Coffee nearby for an awful coffee when we would have preferred to sit in lounge at hotel to use it.
The ambiance ,location and views
the premises was clean and the beds were very comfortable, staff were rude/unpleasant to you in the presence of other guests without the slightest care , i find this embarrassing and unacceptable for a hotel of such status
The confort of the bedroom and the swimmingpool. The reception staff were very helpful. We had no problems.
The location, the staff & the service were all briliant The bedroom was far too warm at night, despite turning the radiator off we had to have the window wide open and then there was much noise from ouside so we did not sleep very well.
The aspect of the Hotel was breathtaking, all the staff were polite , helpful , presentable and a credit to the hotel. The food and restaurant service were excellent,as were the bedrooms and housekeeping .No. No.
the morning view over the lake - priceless
Excellent new swimming pool restaurant prices
view , location and room was lovely
Lovely room with lake view, even though hotel was fully booked never felt crowded, plenty of space in lounges etc. Plus point was the car park - last time we stayed 40 years ago, no parking so was a nightmare finding somewhere to park! This time they even offered for us to leave the car still parked after we checked out so we could make a trip on the lake before we returned home. Just a shame we didnt have time to use the Spa & pool - last time the pool was actually outside! Just one comment - obviously not checked that the toiletries & milk were " topped up" when cleaning the room after previous occupants
The bed was to die for, food fantastic, great location and ambiance. Highly recommended as a great weekend retreat. The shower was disappointing. Always prefer a glass screen to a clingy shower curtain.
The finish and the comfort of the rooms and the quality of the breakfast. The service at dinner was slow but the food was good when it came.
Comfort, cleanliness, great staff and in a superb location Great food and service in a pleasant restaurant but most ladies sat and ate with cardigans on or jackets over their shoulders as it was mid Jan,cold outside, but no or little heating was on in the public areas
Mainly relax!!look around the sites Parking
Interior design and standard of room N/A
The hotel was very luxurious and the staff were incedibly friendly and helpful. The location is great. There is plenty of parking. I liked the selling point of the dog on the bed. Of course Sam came home with us. I will be staying there again in the future.I have recommended the hotel, and my friend is going next month. Nothing we didn't like
The food in the restaurant was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable with excellent facilities. N/A
The room and hotel where fantastic
Great position just on the lakeside. - Responsive General Manager.
Rooms were clean, warm & had full amenities incl iron. No lift & no help with luggage for disabled. In fact there was a staff lift which could have been offered but was only mentioned as we were leaving.
An excellent clean and relaxed hotel with friendly staff. The only option for breakfast is a continental breakfast.
Very friendly staff excellent service good facilities None
Quality and cleanliness of the family suite. Quality and range of included breakfast. Family suite is on 3rd floor with narrow staircase. This is not a complaint for us at all. Just that the owner said he would like to note on the internet listing, for any aged or frail guests that it is a trek to the room, so there is no surprise on arrival.
Large room with plenty of space, large bathroom with a jaccuzi, teapot in the bedroom. Great breakfast for a continental option. Very friendly and welcoming staffs. The jacuzzi took several attempts to switch on, possibly due to poor connection.
Was very nice,I will recommend to all my friends.the stuff is 10 stars.thank you
loved this hotel!! the room was excellent and the staff couldn't be more helpfull!!can't wait to go back!!
The quality of all the staff who were excellent in every respect; they could not do enough for you and seemed motivated and happy. Some noisy children in the leisure area were annoying but nothing more; have made the hotel aware of this.
food room very dark and did not have any view
the location and the leisure centre facilities. there was no pool table
I liked the fact that there were so many facilities at our disposal if we chose to use them, As it was, we were blessed with amazing weather and I did not swim as much as I had anticipated; when I did, I thought th pool. jacuzzi, steam room etc were wonderful.
We have stayed at numerous luxury hotel's in the lake district, but nothing compared to Langdale. The food, waiter service, facilities, and whole complex is outstanding. Can't wait to return. N/A
This a beautiful hotel set in wonderful surroundings. The rooms are luxurious and are individually decorated. The spa is very relaxing and everything is spotlessly clean. We ate in the Terrace restaurant in the evening and the food was excellent. All the hotel staff were very friendly. We had a wonderful relaxing stay and hope to go again sometime.
Excellent facilities, especially with children, very comfortable room and friendly staff. Fantastic location for walking and pubs!
Restaurants and facilitys
Supremely comfortable bed - wanted to take it home with me! All pretty good actually - great location, superb breakfast and nice sports facilities. Lots of kids, but then it was half term!
My partner and I both thought that the hotel and its surroundings where brilliant, you really felt like you where somewhere very calming. We thought that the site was clean and tidy and the layout was great. We would definately like to return to langdale for a longer break.
The position of the hotel was excellent and the room was clean and modern,if a little small.Overall we had a nice stay. We only had breakfast on one of the mornings we stayed but found it a bit disappointing in its lack of choice and we were very disappointed by the sausages- a nice local choice instead of bog standard would have been nice!!!!
Comfortable, clean, good sized room. Noise from the bar below.
Everything from food to cleanliness and the staff were excellent. If I had to say one bad thing it would be the menu was not too varied. But ideal fro our short stay.
Delay in travelling meant we were late in arriving so being able to check in at 11.15 was helpful. Check in staff member was extremely helpful, advising on where could find food late at night etc. room was very clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was good and staff helpful. Just a minor downside was the loud music from the bar below but we were told that it closed at midnight so we were aware that it wasn't going to be playing for too long.
Very good value for money and very good location - would stay there again without any doubt. N/A
Our room was on the third floor and had lovely views across ambleside town, the room was cosy and very clean and the breakfast was the best we have had in the lakes hotels we have stayed in,our thanks to all the staff who made our stay a welcome one.we would not hesitate in booking again. nothing to report, maybe wi fi would of been helpful
The loction of the Hotel was great. The rooms were very clean and very comfortable and well presented. Breakfast was very good. We did have one complaint which the staff dealt with very well and did sort out for us. It was very tight to get in to the parking area and depending on how busy the hotel is you might not get a space. Also we did get our car blocked in one morning which ment we had to try and find the owner to let us out. It did say there is a busy Bar but with it being called a hotel we assumed it was mainley for the hotel uses. This is not the case. It is a very loud and popular bar with the locals. We were on the first floor of the hotel and could hear the music and talking till gone midnight on the friday. The floor in the room was also vibrating to the music. We did complain about this in the morning and got moved to the forth floor for the second night which was great and we heard nothing that night. You have to book in at the bar as there is no reception which was a bit awkward.
Accomodation and breakfasts The stairs to the top floor
Excellent hotel, location in the middle of the village. Hotel spotless, room's spacious and the bathrooms and very modern. Bar very friendly and reasonably priced. Excellent breakfast! Would highly recommend a stay here.
Room clean, with very little outside noise and refurbed not so long ago. the Hotel supplied car parking was not available. Location of reception area for hotel.
the swimming pool, the breakfast, the room
I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the excellent leisure facilities I was in room 219 and the bed was not long enogh
Kippers on the menu for breakfast
Excellent breakfast, staff were very good, location is ideal for access to the Lakes. Following the "no smoking " legislation, smokers stand at the front door making for an unpleasant experience as you access the hotel. If you stay in room 105 and like to have an open window then be prepared for a smoking experience as the smoke rises from the front door!
The friendly relaxed atmosphere. We have been staying at the Salutation for several years and it is nice to see familiar faces amongst the staff. The rooms on the road can be affected by road noise and noise from the pub opposite
Location in town centre. Easy access to lake and public transport. Hotel's own car park facilities. Excellent breakfasts. Rooms were clean and comfortable but the decor and furniture was a little dated.
friendly staff, comfortable room, perfect location
Very friendly staff, well maintained facilities.
the breakfast was excellent
The location was excellent a couple of minutes from the steam boat jetty, and the building and rooms were spacious. The leisure centre was very good. The breakfast was completely substandard given the quality of the hotel. Limited choice, no fresh fruit despite being there at the hight of the summer and the cooked breakfast was very greasy (we were unable to eat it). Also, the room had few extras: e.g. we had to ask for tissues, there was nothing in the bathroom except for shampoo and shower gel. The Hotel obviously has a problem with staff turnover, since some were obviously inexperienced. Even though the rate was heavily discounted, we did not feel it represented good value for money. It is a shame, because with a little extra attention to detail and a decent breakfast the hotel could be really first class.
relaxing atmosphere lighting was dull and detracted from decor in public areas
ideal location for Bowness centre and lake windermere, sports facilities excellent, staff very helpful. can't think of anything, in fact we would stay here again.
Helpful and pleasant staff. Indecision on whether eating was to continue in the bar areas - and announced at short notice.
The staff were excellent providing a friendly, helpful service The main reception/lounge areas were pretty cold - however it was -7 outside! Disappointed that the promised log fires were not available as this would have made a pre-Christmas break more festive somehow
Liked the easy relaxing setting of the hotel in general, the room was clean and the staff was very welcoming, perfectly located for Bowness. Would stay here again.
The setting was very picturesque which complimented the excellent bar and terracing areas. The room was very clean. Ample car parking facilities. The breakfast service seemed much improved from a previous visit. The bath water was luke warm. A duvet would be much prefered to sheets.
Lovely room, situation, food good, but hotel very full due to coach parties
Being able to use the leisure facilities.
Our room was very big with a lovely view of lake district. Very close to the lake and boats and the shops/resturants.
Beautiful surroundings the peace and quiet. Being chased by the farmers dog on two occasions for no apparent reason! must not like people walking past the farm to get to crow how,but it did not spoil our stay.
The room we stayed in was possibly the nicest we have ever been in! The view was breathtaking. The bed was huge, amazing shower and whirlpool bath. We could not fault a thing. Excellent all round!
Very clean, modern, excellent quality spacious rooms in a lovely setting. Staff friendly and helpful.
Quiet and restful We thought the breakfast slot was quite short...... 08:30 to 09:00. After all the fresh air and walking, we wouldn't have minded a slightly longer lie-in.
Our room was lovely and the food and service was very good, also the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The staff were extremely friendly, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, gardens lovely to sit in on a sunny day. The location is excellent with just a short walk to start hiking.Loved it so much that we have booked a weekend next month. No bad points.
Good location, well looked after large old farm/country house. Offered free upgrade due to recent decorating smell, before we we aware of any issue.
Great location, very peaceful and relaxing. Lakeland hotel charm. Breakfast was mediocre
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable and finished to a high standard. Breakfast was excellent. Cannot fault the Crow How Country Guest House in any way
First class accomodation, beautiful setting.
Staff were very friendly and food was good No lean towels, room was very cold, toilet paper not replaced, no satelite tv as advertised
Very friendly and welcoming. Helpful information about local walks. Warm and relaxing to come back to after a day's walking n/a
Breakfast,Interest and helpfuless of Staff,Comfy Bed, Colour of bathroom suite!
I found the hotel to be charming with a good level of comfort. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was a little lumpy.
Traditional family run guest house in excellent location close to centre of Ambleside. All of the staff were friendly and helpful during our 3 night stay. Good selection on breakfast menu with sensible portions, all well prepared. Good sized bedroom advertised as twin but actually a single and double bed, decorated in traditional style. Modern, well- equiped shower ensuite. Squeaky mattress
excellent location and lovely room staff very friendly
The hotel was in a very convenient place for the centre of Ambleside. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. we stayed in a "luxury room" which was just a standard looking room but with a four poster bed.
Friendly, clean & tidy, good location to the town & outlying area None
Very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Well situated hotel for exploring Ambleside and surrounding areas. Standard room was not very big and decor was old fashioned.
Location & accommodation Very small breakfast
Extra little touches in rooms and ensuite to make stay more homely. Secure, gated parking. Food excellent.
Price and location good Room in attic space, top floor. Not v. Good, especially as hotel on partially full. Breakfast (bacon) seemed to have been pre cooked then re heated, a bit tough.
Comfortable and warm with an excellent breakfast Very small room and would have loved a bath after a long hike
The location was good, central to Ambleside, but being on a side street meant that it was quiet at night. Additional car parking which we requested on booking was a bonus. It was a secure lock up and just a short walk away from the hotel. We would have called Hillsdale a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel. The ensuite was tiny. You had to negotiate the sink before sliding onto the toilet - a lot of elbow banging. The bed was uncomfatable as you could feel the springs and the quilt had seen better days, it was just warm enough for October. The breakfast was average - the beans and mushrooms were on ration! We asked for breakfast at 8.30 and we were ask if 8.25 was o.k. - clock watching is not on our agenda when having a relaxing weekend! Over all we were disappointed and will not be staying there again.
location was excellent, clean with a good breakfast. we were in room 2 which we found to be quite small and the en suite shower room was also cramped.
Hotel was clean, tidy and very welcoming. Good sized rooms, comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent. Good value for money. Would certainly recommend the Hillsdale and will definetly be booking again.
