Staff was very friendly. Rooms were comfortable. Nice having something light to eat in the evening. Too close to freeway
Breakfast buffet Too close to highway
We've stayed at the Oxford Suites half a dozen times over the last 5 years while my daughter attended Cal Poly SLO. The rooms are very comfortable and the suites were great for 4 of us. The hot breakfasts and the nightly wine reception is an added bonus. The staff is great and any problems are dealt with promptly. Great value for the money and I would definitley recommend to anyone. nothing
good hotel. ..nice room...good price!
I loved how friendly the staff were and the included accommodations. The room had lots of space and was clean and comfortable. I would definitely want to go back. Couldn't think of something to dislike.
I liked there was a bedroom and adjacent living room with a TV in both rooms. Location was good - right off 101. The breakfast was included, but very poor.
Room was reasonably clean. Walking distance to the beach. Bathroom needed a fresh coat of paint and better lighting. Neighbors were loud.
We really enjoyed our stay. I booked this last minute while we were on a road trip up the coast. I liked how it was so close to the beach and we even considered staying another night. We had to keep going, but this place and the Pismo Beach area was definitely one of the highlights of our entire trip.
The beach is at walking distance which is great. The wifi was not connecting and very slow when it would, loud neighbors, and the lights would sometimes not turn on.
It was a great location. No food available arriving after 830.
Although the property is older it was clean and the location was fantastic. The value was awesome.
Bed was comfortable, lots of television channels. Very close to the water- you can walk right down to the beach. Great proximity to restaurants and shopping. Front desk staff was friendly and recommended a good place to eat. Not the most luxurious, but good for a vacation on a budget
Loved the close proximity to the beach! No complaints here! Wifi not working too well
Very friendly staff, loved the close walk to the beach as well as the pool and hot tub.
There was no heat for our room..,freezing
We liked the view of the beach from our room and the close proximity to the beach. This hotel is also very close to the pier and main shopping areas. The breakfast was pretty basic. I've stayed at lesser hotels that have a better breakfast than this hotel.
Nothing except maybe the location. Everything.
Location was nice. Pretty quiet hotel. The wifi isn't free, the description of the hotel said there was free HBO but there isn't. The staff said there wasn't any downstairs available but there were hardly any cars in the lots. Towels had hair wrapped up in them. The refrigerator was dirty, rusty, and didn't even work. Beds were pretty uncomfortable.
Staff was nice and helpful The online images are not of the actual hotel. Misleading
I thought this motel was clean and well taken care of. It was by no means a luxury hotel but had all the basics. When I asked to be moved to the second floor they accommodated me. I wish there was a bit more security... all the windows face the outside, and there is no one monitoring the place besides one person at the front desk.
I begged for a downstairs room (I have an elderly dog) and the FD agent was able to get me the last one! He was nice and talkative. I had a good rate, and it was only 2.5 miles from the wedding location, so it was cheap and convenient for us. The carpet wasn't as dirty as some of the reviews made it out to be. The body towels were so small they were barely long enough to wrap around my boyfriend's waist. And I had to walk to the front desk to pick up the extra towels and the pillows in the middle of the night--which wasn't too inconvenient, but I thought that was weird considering the circumstances. Which reminds me, the bed only had 2 pillows on it, and the beds were literally air mattresses. However, it could have been worse. Also, someone knocked on our door early in the morning and woke us up (but I think that was another hotel patron). Lastly, they only had water, ibuprofen, and toothbrushes available for purchase in a vending machine. No complimentary anything available for guests. It's the little things that would improve the place.
Cleanliness and quiet Why are there smoking rooms still available? Disgusting! We originally had one booked; I was not aware they still existed.
This place was way over priced for a really ordinary old road side motel.
Bed was pretty stiff. Much like a slab of granite. Also floor was stained, made me wear flip flops inside
it was clean and available for the three rooms we needed. location was good. everything was in working order. the price for the days was too high for the facility. no morning snack available. no blow dryer. towels were very small and rough.
I have stayed here several times and the rates are always very good value for what you get. The hotel is clean and quiet. There's easy access to the freeway. Eating options are nearby. The staff is attentive. At these rates there is little to complain about.
I like the cleanliness the view and location the fact that there was a microwave and refrigerator and coffee coffee in the reception area I thought the room was nicely furnished I did not like the two soft bad it needed a new bed seriously. I think there should have been at least a sweet wrong with the coffee would have been nice. Other than that it was a very nice room however the toilet was too small for a male adult to sit on The inside of the double pane window was dirty and foggy. And the lock on the window need to be more secure.
Price was great, location is great, room was clean, bed was comfortable Room had a musty odor, tv channels very very limited, no free wifi
Along the way
Quite, comfortable bed and pillows, lots of power outlets
Nice and comfortable quiet great tv channels. Clean Nothing
We didn't expect much with a two star rating. We were surprised to find that everything is new and clean. No funky smell at all. The bathroom is granite so no sticky plastic tub, it's clean and many steps above most motels. Highly recommended.
This facility was clean. There were electrical outlets and ports everywhere! It was the first time on our trip that we weren't scrambling for places to plug our devices in. The water was soft and the temperature hot. The updates they did are outstanding. The hotel is owned by a very nice and hard working couple. Although this isn't a 5 star resort, it is a fantastic value for the price we paid! Breakfast was minimal, but adequate. The hotel is right along the freeway, but the noise was well buffered and made for a good background sleeping sound with the large sliding door closed.
Good location, easy to find, easy on and off freeways. Family resturant withing one block. Continintal breakfast was very limited. No coffee pot in room but avertised. Bath tub faucet ran all night, ended up using a screw driver to turn tub on and off.
nothing First, the phone number on the confirmation/website was incorrect. Even when we called information, they didn't have a number for it. No security lock on door.... remote to the t.v. was held together with paper and rubber band, Shower dripped all night and don't even try the juice at breakfast..... orange water... horrible... I will never stay there again nor will I recommend to our clients in the area. Would like a refund, but that will never happen.
The rooms must have been upgraded lately because it was much nicer than the other reviews had me expecting. Granite-like counter tops in the bathroom and shower, big bolster on the bed and memory foam pillows. I was very comfortable and happy.
close to everything the breakfast
My friends and I stayed at the Avenue Inn after driving through Big Sur. We arrived after 10 pm and were greeted by Saul, who showed us to our room and gave some excellent dinner recommendations for late at night. The room was in great condition (newly renovated) and very comfortable for 4 adults to sleep in. Saul helped us in the morning by providing additional towels and helped with checkout as well. Overall we were very happy! Nothing - 100% would stay here again.
Access to walking to all areas downtown. Easy access in parking. Quiet.
Great service, location, beds and showers!
Smallish room, but it was quiet, clean and comfy.
The ocean view from our room was great. The rooms were comfortable and there was a restaurant right on the property that made it convenient. There was no continental breakfast included.
The room was very quiet - nice for a light sleeper like me.
bait and switch on the room. forced to pay additional to getary something liveable, no beach access contrary to advertising and even directions sinage on the property. Charged 2x what the room was worth
Beautiful view Outdated decorating
The grounds and the location are absolutely gorgeous. Their Oceanview garden is a wonderful place to read a book enjoy a coffee or take a short walk. The entire Oceanview building and much of the grounds are currently under construction and being refurbished. Our unit was totally out of date, smelled like cigarettes, the air mattress they gave us for our son to sleep on deflated in the middle of the night and it was just disappointing compared to the pictures we saw when we booked. The price was too much for what we got.
good location, nice view over looking the ocean no air conditioning, room was very hot at night time.
My daughter and had a great stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We loved the beds. Pillow could have been better. The hotel was very quire which made it easy to sleep. Check in and out was very smooth. Very friendly staff. The only down fall was the price. Our room was expensive with a ocean view, but there were many rooms with ocean frontage that were double the price. Beautiful facility, but I'm not sure if we'd stay again because of the price.
Excellent facilities. Quiet.
No air conditioning. How can you not have air conditioning. Also our phone in the room did not work and they could not fix it. What if there was an emergency. Not okay
Staff was nice. Willing to wait for our late arrival. Having the fan in the room was nice. Good location. The room was a little smelly. Walls were dirty with black hand prints. Bed was saggy. Carpet and floors were dirty. Drains were slow to drain- kind of clogged. Continental breakfast was more like a snack.
Only a short ride from the Grover Beach Amtrak, Arroyo Village Inn puts you in prime position to eat breakfast at the Village Cafe, see the village bridge (which is closed for repairs, but stil viewable), and hear the AG roosters rousing all. The Inn offers well-priced, big rooms that easily accommodate riders, their bikes, and their gear. The Arroyo Village Inn is perfect as a budget pitstop, with very friendly staff -- great on a bike tour, but maybe not enough amenities for an extended/more leisurely stay.
Nice motel very closer great Nope
It was perfect for what we needed. It's nothing fancy, but suited it's purpose. Quit, low key, and close to downtown, fuel and highway. The owner/manager was friendly and allowed us to check-in early. The bed was double wrapped and clean, which was a concern for my fiancé. Over all we had an Amazing trip. My fiancé is 6'6" and his knees touched the wall when he sat on the toilet. Although, I was amused by it. No clock in room.
Actually a nice place to stay for the price you pay. Internet. Kept going in and out. Had to be right by lobby to get a constant connection.
Easily accessible from the freeway, clean sheets, and towels. It was the small details that could be better. The bathroom needs some repairs done. Shower was not working properly and water kept dripping from the bathtub faucet.
The housekeeper was using our bathroom when we got into our room...so weird. Also, there was not fitted sheet on the bed. That seems really gross to me.
Found a used " Q-tip" on floor next to the bed. Other than that our stay was good
My stay here was very comfortable. It was clean, the staff was hospitable & it was in a great location. The price was very reasonable also. I would definitely stay here again.
It's located adjacent to a Denny's and iHop and other restaurants are a stones throw away. The bed was very hard and the floor carpet looked dingy.
This is one of the worst hotels I've stayed in over many years. At max, I'd pay $59 a night as it is basically a roof over your head. We paid $189 due to it being Cal Poly move-in weekend but you can't charge that amount for the hotel it is. It hasn't been renovated for over 10 years I'm guessing by the look of the rooms.
I was really impressed with everything. The Staff were helpful in every way.
My room was clean and staff were friendly. The mattress in the room sagged in the middle, the wifi was very weak, and there were homeless people hanging out by the dumpsters.
wifi not working. 3 lights not working. dirty towels. shower drain blocked.
After I left my wallet behind, staff contacted me to let me know and then were very accommodating in making arrangements to have it sent to me.
There was a mistake with our reservation and they were very unhelpful in trying to help. The person in front of us even had the same mistake with their reservation and they were unwilling to do anything to try to resolve the situation. On top of a horrible check in experience, we checked into our room and had a giant bug in the room. They were helpful in letting us change rooms after we told them about the bug.
clean room, new quiet heater/air conditioner, great price It's very close to the highway so when there is traffic you hear it. Nothing fancy, but everything in the room worked, including the wifi.
All very clean. The room was comfortable and the bed was super comfortable. I loved that the room had a fridge and microwave, most places don't. Everything was great.
great breakfast uncomfortable pillows
The staff was unfriendly. The pool is under construction and this wasn't disclosed before booking. The room had an overpowering smell of cleaner. The free breakfast was only cold cereal.
Clean room Fridge Microwave Wood floors Shower and tub Pricing No pool(empty) Low budget breakfast(should just not have one) Fridge needed more cleaning Parking (big trucks in small spots) All night people in and out Curtains (need darker ones that fit windows)
Stayed the night. The room was large, clean and comfortable for our need. The Inn is not a vacation spot itself but it is cheap and a great place to stay if you have a car and you are passing in the area or would like to viait thia nice town. There isn't much one can expect for such a low cost but 'breakfast' was coffee and orange juice, two types of store cakes and two types of cereal. OK
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The pool was empty and in disrepair.
The hotel was very accommodating when I called ahead and requested an early check-in since we had an early afternoon wedding to attend. It also seemed like the bathrooms had been recently updated. However, we were uncomfortable being located in such a cramped, behind the laundry facilities hotel room. There was a hole in the wall near the mini-fridge and we had to park way down the street near someone's home because there was no parking when we got back.
Great little place. Everything was clean. The hotel was right there when i needed it.
Convenient location. Booked on Kayak the same night. A Sunday night booking so I think there were available rooms everywhere. For a Budget option it is a great place. Coffee, Juice and Rolls for the breakfast is a nice morning starter.. Parking is very tight. Outside seems run down but the rooms are kept nicely.
The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The restroom too was adequate. Everything was great for a one night stop through San Luis. The location was literally down the street from the freeway, a gas station, the downtown area and two mins away from the mission we were there to see. Sure the exterior is no Hilton resort, but the price is great. The pool is basically a trash or deconstructed pit, but if the owner is smart, he'll just have it filled and have the area made into more parking space. Because a pool is not necessary for the place.
When looking for a simple place to rest while traveling, the San Luis inn does that well. While being a short walk to downtown it is also close to the highway without being loud. Breakfast was a little sparse but Jack in the box is across the street.
The room was booked because it had a refrigerator & microwave & I presumed a coffee maker as all others we have been in had one. There were was no coffee maker & no cups of any sort in the room , even to drink water from, which is the only hotel in 3 weeks on the road to not even supply a plastic cup!
The location. 3 blocks from the beach. The room was dirty, holes in the sheets, WiFi didn't work, week old pastries for breakfast. heat control in the room was unregulated.
I'm not sure I enjoyed myself there, but after a few days on the road and hot shower was nice The walls were so extremely thin, we could hear the couple next door making love. There was no co air climate control. You could hear the highway at night.
Room was clean and staff were friendly. Don't expect a continental breakfast. Breakfast consisted of muffins and coffee/tea in the Motel reception with nowhere to sit. The Motel served our purpose as a base from which to travel, but do not expect to be near the beach.
under $100 and you can walk to the beach! right off 101, but room was quiet at night.
Good proximity to restaurants, shops and beach a Little noisy as it is next to 101
Rooms refurnished, clean nothing
Free beer at the bar during happy hour!!

The room set up was a little strange as the bathroom sink was in the bedroom, so if you were brushing your teeth, whomever was in bed would be staring right at you. but, the room was clean and spacious. The staff was welcoming and eager to serve.
Quiet, friendly staff, nice room cooked to order, as long as it is on the menu...
The resort-like amenities
The room was big, the breakfast was substantial. But the construction was disturbing the peace and quiet of guests. My husband called and complained and they did not stop any construction until past 11:00 am. By that time, we were so fed up & left. They were renovating the hotel. The noise at 9:00 am was very, very, very AWFUL! It was bordering on the ridiculous. I would not have paid $-- for this freaking room.
This place it awesome! The location is great, the staff is fantastic and it offers so many extras like made to order breakfast, afternoon BBQ, free movie rentals, free happy hour, the list goes on and on! Stay here, you wont be disappointed!
The fireplace was nice and cozy Doesn't work in the rain.Tv was very poor.Bathroom was tiny.

Living room and bedroom each with a tv which helps when you have kids. Breakfast is made hot to order. Loved the hotel. Parking was a tad tight.
The size and layout of the room was perfect. Having coffee available at any time was wonderful. The free breakfast and the cantina were great ways to start and end a day! No!
Nothing Got there at 8pm after a long drive. Checked in the room and found it had not been cleaned yet. Got frustrated that we had to wait for a while until they had to clean it. We were very tired after the long trip and really needed a shower and rest. I hope they cleaned the shower. Found out that they'd forgotten to put a second set of towels. Call and and asked for one. The one they gave us had someone else's hair in it!!!!
Being able to check in, jump in the pool, and relax. Towels weren't ready didn't know until after I was wet dripping thru the room. Had to go to front desk and pick them up.
- wooden floors - clean - quiet and sound proof room - extremely small shower - facilities are pretty basic - Small room - only soap provided as toiletry item - thin towels - For $144 + tax, you would expect a larger room with more facilities.
Location The smoke detector had a plastic bag over it. The exhaust fan in bathroom was in plugged and out of place. Other than that not bad
From check in to check out the stay was great. Exceptionally friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, great location. It was perfect for what we needed.
Exceptionally friendly staff and warm cookies at the front desk! They do the best that they can with an aging facility.
Comfortable bed, room was really clean. Strong soap/disinfectant smell made breathing difficult. In room refrigerator rumbled pretty much the entire night. Between the two I didn't get much sleep.
Flat screen tv When booking, I read that this hotel had bathtubs, it did not.
The Sands Inn is just off the PCH exist, right next to the gas station. The staff was friendly and there were free cookies at the check-in counter. Our room was clean; the beds were comfortable and the bathroom pleasant. The free breakfast was tasty, especially the waffles. This place even included wifi, though the speeds were fairly slow. Overall, I found the place to be a positive experience, though ear plugs are recommended if you would like uninterrupted sleep. The walls are rather thin and car alarms went off during the night, interrupting our sleep. The wifi was so slow that I used my phone for internet access instead.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was used dental floss in the bathroom and hair in the refrigerator.
We were very pleased with the overall appearance and cleanliness of this hotel. It is very comfortable and attractive. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool area, and the deck, table, and chairs made it wonderful to hang out there. The website did not advertise a jacuzzi, so we were pleasantly surprised to find they had one...until we got in and realized it is barely heated. We were mildly disappointed because we like a hot jacuzzi, but it was heated more than the pool and was still comfortable with the jets. Two problems: The jacuzzi wasn't heated to jacuzzi-temperature. Also, the wi-fi would cut in and out on us, which was a small problem.
Hotel was located close to Cal Poly and not too far from downtown. Our room felt small for a family of 5 (two queens). Breakfast was good, coffee was great. Stuffy room and small. Parking is tight for an SUV. Back of hotel looked unkept.
The staff was very helpful, outside was clean, family friendly, and close to stores, etc. Pet friendly Rooms aren't the nicest, bed was uncomfortable. We ended up changing hotels. expected more from pics.
Decor is a little dated but the room was spotless and the staff was super nice!
The price for what you get was awesome. Needed a place to stay while traveling from SF to LA. This place was clean, well maintained and the stuff was great. Breakfast was free but nothing special. Wish they had more options and fresher eggs and sausage.
Above my expectations. Clean facilities close to downtown, the breakfast included was also pretty good.
Reserved for 3: Needed to cancel, but refused; then would no;t refund the difference between the 3 requested atnd the one that stayed.
I liked the location, just off 101 and only minutes away from where I had to be. The room appearance was okay BUT (see what I didn't like) It wasn't clean (dust was under the bed, the sheets on one of the doubled beds had something on them (dirty) the towels in the bathroom weren't white more like off white, bathroom sink had something in it and required that I sanitize it and the shower. Also wiped down the counter in the bathroom due to if I could see dirt in the sink and shower I can assume the counter is not clean as well. Also had a funny odor in the room and fab breezed the bedding and sanitized the phone and anything my things would be touching. This location appears to allow long term staying and some of the people were questionable. No iron, Ironing board, coffee maker. Only had one Ice machine for the whole facility and it was all the way up front next to the office. They provided coffee only up front by the office in the morning and it was STRONG The one Ice machine they had on the outside was disgusting and needed cleaning and repairing.
Couldn't hear neighbors and once inside, felt secure. The AC worked. PRO/CON: We got what we payed for. Non-smoking room sounded like weed, furniture looked like it was from IKEA and shower was TINY. Felt unsafe to go outside at night due to the other vacationers/overnighters staying there. WiFi wasn't free and minimal TV stations. PRO/CON: We got what we payed for.
The staff was nice, but overall the facility is not good. Everything. Too noicey and you can hear too much upstairs.
Rooms were recently remodeled and it was nice and clean Refrigerater in the rooms
Front desk staff was very friendly! I came down to ask for more towels and was granted my request with a sincere smile and friendly exchange. We stayed one night in a 2 double bed room and used the pool while we were there. No problems at all and everything was very clean. Enjoyed free coffee in the morning and the location was easily accessible. There was a charge for wifi and not too many channels on the tv, but we had no complaints.
Room was clean. Felt safe. No frills. Smelled heavy of air spray. Probably guests smoked. Might bother some folks. Was surprised they charged for WiFi.
Staff was very nice Hoodlums hanging out in parking lot smoking
