10.0 Excellent
Pros: What an amazing atmosphere, staff and overall experience! From the beautiful original entry door to the secret passage, gorgeous gardens, cultural significance and everything in between, this was a fantastic place! The details of the 10 room boutique hotel are great and every little thing is thought out for you. Wish we would have booked longer than just an overnight stay - could have stayed there many, many more.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spectacular! Excellent staff!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, beautiful facilities and friendly/professional staff.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff very friendly The location very good The decoration beautiful
Cons: The breakfast was poor The bed was short (180 cm) The parking small
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff has been so kind; service and attention remarkably good. Location is superb. We have felt as if we were literally at home. The building itself is a dream. To be more precise, the suite 205, called La Felicidad (The happiness) is unbelievably cosy. We’ll be back for sure.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything: location, garden, view from suite, staff, service, ambiance, private parking.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very kind and informative personnel. I wanted to thank the girl who checked us in personally but didn't see her again before we left. We went to the restaurant Bococo she recommended. It was great. We also found the convent and bought the delicious sweets made by the nuns there thanks to her clear instructions. Everyone else is friendly, too. The hotel is small but has top facilities. We had a wonderful stay in Avila.
Cons: Our room was on the road side and was a bit noisy in the morning.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Super king sized bed and high quality mattress and pillows amongst the most comfortable ever experienced in any hotel I have stayed in. Breakfast excellent. Grounds large, beautifully kept with relaxing seating. Dinner high quality although portion sizes rather daunting!
Cons: Our room (suite in top floor) was a little dark and gloomy - would check out room on first floor if we came back (and partially sloping ceiling was a little awkward for those of us 1.85 metres or over). Wooden floorboards made traffic in corridor outside rather noisy when some neighbouring guests departed at six in the morning (saw first floor corridor was carpeted and perhaps that could be extended upstairs).
Hostal Doña Juana - Ávila - Bedroom
2
9.3 Excellent (1,437 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hostal Doña Juana in Avila, you'll be just steps from Church of San Pedro and Palacio Los Serrano. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is Great, 2 minutes to the wall. The host, they were two of the best person I've ever met in my life. For the price it's better than most of the hostales.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's right in the middle/near the old town and walls. Check-in/out was simple and easy. They also helped us with directions once. For a cheap property we were expecting basics but it was very nice with free water and a modern room.
Cons: Nothing, everything was great.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Despite the language barrier, we were helped in every possible way and the owners/staff were very patient with all our requests. The room was spacious and quiet.
Cons: It would be handy to have an English (short) manual of the Velux window as it was operated through a (Spanish) remote control. The room was under the roof and hence you had to be careful not to bump your head against the ceiling when you wanted to get out of bed. The air conditioning doesn’t go lower than 23 degrees (centrally set), but I believe it was adjusted after we asked it to go lower. However, these were all minor inconveniences and it was overall good value to stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Don’t know how the star system works but this place is definitely more than one star! Super clean, very well equipped and comfortable! Location is great, staff are nice and helpful! With this price, nothing more I will ask for! If you’re visiting Avila, this is the place you wanna stay!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The manager came over to the car park with us and helped to carry our luggage.
Cons: Our room was very small. I couldn't stand in half of the room. Banged my head a few times. You could not get a car near to the hotel, and hard to find.
6.0 Good
Pros: Clean comfortable very friendly staff
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the location of the hotel is excellent, just a few meters from the wall entrance. Room cleanliness is impeccable and there are hair dryers, towels, shampoo, tv and water. the staff was very kind and attentive. Breakfast is outside the hotel, it's simple but good.
Cons: Breakfast is outside the hotel, it's simple but good. but in one of the breakfast options, there was one that included an orange juice, and I ordered this one. The lady brought breakfast without the juice, I waited a while and asked when it would come, she said there was no more orange juice, and offered me nothing as a replacement.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is by far the best hostel I've stayed in, anywhere in the world.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The quality of the facilities are exceptional. The bed was unbelievably comfortable and the kitchen, lounge area and bathrooms spotlessly clean and with a quality of fittings you would expect of a 4 or 5 star hotel. On top of that Inés was super helpful and accommodating with every request I had. You will not be disappointed!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff is very kind. She helped me in many ways, I was very impressed.

7.9 Good
Pros: Location is great. My room (me, my wife and my kid) was very big and seemed like a small apartment.

The Exe Reina Isabel 4* located Ávila, has 60 rooms with all the necessary services, as minibar, amenities in the bathroom, air conditioning, TV, cradles and hair dryer. The hotel has 24-hour reception, meeting rooms for events, baggage consignment, breakfast buffet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This Hotel is excellent, we really enjoyed our overnight stay.
7.7 Good
Pros: Staff very welcoming and helpful. Room a bit dated, but very well equipped and spacious. Clean. Breakfast buffet was an excellent selection. Good location being walkable into the centre, but far enough out to have car parking and to be easy to find by car. Also close to station. Great value for money. We had a lovely stay and would book again.
Cons: A few minor things - water was a very strange colour, window wouldn't stay open and room was very warm. The undergound car park is tiny and very difficult to manoeuvre into spaces. This wasn't too much of a problem as there were not many guests with cars when we stayed, but might be an issue in high season.
6.7 Good
Pros: We all had a very pleasent stay
Cons: I thought that all the staff on the reception desk should have been able to speak English. Parking should have been free thought that was expensive.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Well sign posted so easy to find. A lovely hotel delightfully decorated and within walking distance of Avila's attractions.

Cons: Some of the staff did not speak English. There is no own restaurant, only a bar. This bar offered small meals but unfortunately was full of smoke.
7.6 Good
Pros: We liked this hotel for its proximity to the train station. We also like the way the hotel is decorated - antique furniture creating an ambiance of royalty, representative of the Kingdom. Very well done. Staff are very helpful. Hotel room is very clean. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to try their breakfast which I'm sure will be great as well.
Cons: Nothing at all.
6.4 Good

Pros: A nice old building tucked away on a narrow street next to the cathedral. It also has a delightful outdoor restaurant next to the walls - pricey though. Our room was on the first floor with the small balcony overlooking the walls. You get a lot of conversation from the street with the windows open, but it’s not an issue when they are closed at night - good air conditioning if it gets too hot. The hotel has a traditional feel and is very clean. No lift, but a member of staff carried our cases upstairs. Decent breakfast, but it is extra - 6€. A bonus is the parking - easy to get to, but I recommend watching the YouTube video on their website first. Downside is the cost at 12€ a day.

Pros: - location (right next to a gate in the walls to get inside old town)
Cons: - right outside our window was street, basically we didn't have a window, we had to shut down blinders - room was tiny - weird rule "no food inside rooms". Staff all nice and friendly and efficient. The room was basic but clean and tidy with a fridge and safe. TV only Spanish channels, no issue for us. Breakfast was fresh and a good selection. No hot bacon and eggs but plenty of other selections. A good value stay at 90 Euro with breakfast for two. The hotel is located on the edge of industrial area slightly unusual you do need a car.
Cons: I knew when booking that the hotel is a wee drive from town. No real issue for us as we had a car.

Cons: We didn't like having to walk through the restaurant to get out of the hotel. We would have liked to pay in cash, but understand it is typical to only accept cards.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect and my room was very clean. It is just next to the ancient walls which is convenient for enjoying the day and night view of the walls. There is an observatory just one minute away, I recommend to go there in the morning for the panoramic countryside view. The local pastry on Calle Caballeros opposite of the Soul Kitchen Restaurant was a surprise found. The gentleman sells both pastry and coffee. So if you are looking for really local pastry of NO fancy souvenir packaging, that is the one and it is just two minutes from the hotel.
Cons: Wifi log-in was not always smooth.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was ideal for visiting the old walled town. Although it didn't have parking, it was easy to find free parking very close by. The experience of being in a hotel in the walls of the historic town was wonderful.

7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel has no parking, but is very close to a public parking, just outside the walls. ( a modern parking, where you get no ticket at the entrance; your license plate is scanned. When paying you type in your licence plate number.)
Cons: No internet in the room, only in the lobby, and even there it was not always available. At night the light in the room was too poor to read. Breakfast was not offered (But I can highly recommend cafetaria Granier, calle Don Geronimo. A 5 minutes walk.)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed, exceptionally clean, quiet neighborhood, classy design, outstanding, incredibly well priced restaurant right next door! All-in-all, a superb experience!
Cons: Cannot think of anything I did not like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, easy to walk anywhere in Avila, especially close to Teresa birthplace and cathedral in either direction, and walking by the beautiful walls at night sunset was fabulous. Nice receptionist.
Cons: Just that there were people taking in the nearby halls late, like 11:15pm, but Spain customs are later than my own home habits. Otherwise very comfortable.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: location
Cons: rude staff. this is not a hotel. its a small family run business, and poorly run! safety issues, electrical plugs out of place, hot water runs out, corridors without safety, broken walls, slight smell of sewage. Elevator gets you to between level 2 and 3, thus you get stairs. try go up and down with a stroller! one of the rooms had dust and smoke smells. there is no noise cancelling measures, therefore you hear everything that happens outside rooms. Forget getting directions from staff, you get a map and you are sent your way. Staff has no idea how bookings through the internet work. Took 15 mn to figure out if I had a reservation or not, even after showing confirmation.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building which was in a quiet area so very peaceful.
Cons: Although the hotel was a beautiful old building with lots of character the facilities are fairly basic. The WiFi only worked in the reception area which was only attended between 0830 and 2330.
1.0 Poor
Cons: Unfriendly staff, made a point of ignoring our needs and belittled my Mexican Spanish. Split twin beds and the bathroom smelled of middle age gutters.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Beautiful old building, charmingly renovated. Excellent location in a tranquil plaza.
Cons: A preoccupied receptionist, brusque and inattentive.Airconditioing wasn't working.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing ample room on the fourth floor, just opposite Torreón de los Guzmanes. Spotless room with charming views. Great location near the wall and puerta de El Rastro (El Rastro gate). Very kind staff. Really good value for money.
Cons: Air conditioning could have been more silent. Actually, I only had to use it one night, but it was quite noisy.
