The staff were excellent, friendly, and competent. Also, I like the free wi-fi.
Lovely hotel, very good atmosphere.
Modern design, great breakfast Only a pay and display car park
the Portugese chap who whisked our car away on arrival and produced it again when we left
modern style of bedrooms - was able to have a room on the grond floor - great breakfast
Location was perfect, breakfast was enjoyable and tea and coffee making facilities were also appreciated. Bathroom was clean and comfortable. Bed was hard, in room 125 we did hear what sounded like kitchen staff outside in the court yard talking late at night but it might have been residents. When checking out I was going to be charged £160 per room (booked two) which is a total of £60 more than my advertised online fee. I questioned and was told I definately booked at £160 a room. I had to dig out my printed receipt for confirmation of £130 and although the lady on reception changed the price no apology was given. When we asked for our car we were told to go outside and find the car porter, not something we expected when comparing the quality of service prior to checking out.
The food in particular No
I would particularly commend Zoe as an excellent receptionist:smart, friendly and professional - an angel in fact!. The hotel itself is a rare example of a family run good quality hotel which is not run by a chain. My stay at this hotel transformed a necessary business trip into a real pleasure.
Parking facilities very efficient Room comfortable and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful Was the hotel aiming for modern or old? We were disappointed by the aimbiance of the restaurant as we found the seating poor and the music too loud. The lounge area was also not very comforatble. Perhaps we remember the Angel of old. These are observations not complaints.
Very good breakfast. We had a spacious and quiet en suite room. I gathered that this was a recently modernized or added room, and that there were other rooms that had not yet been upgraded to this standard. The modernized bathroom looked very smart, but the design was 'too clever by half': The washbasin had a plug, but you could only use it by unscrewing it from the base and turning it upside down over the plug hole. I prefer a shower that is not fixed into the ceiling but can be manually moved about. The shower cubicle floor was slippery: a health hazardThe way of getting hot water was gimmicky, and you have to read the instructions (for which you need your glasses). No hooks in the bathroom either. Pity to have spent so much money on such gimmicky installations. Some of the lights in the suite could not be switrched on or off separately.
Breakfast was poor value
Friendly and efficient staff
The taps and shower that either scold you or freeze you and nothing inbetween and the atrocious attitude of the staff when I told them about it....'oh well, are you paying on the same card'...................
Booking in was easy, the rooms were a good size and presented well The restuarant experience was extremely poor.
Couldn't fault this hotel
close to bury st edmunds breakfast / dinner in restaurant too expensive for choice offered
easy to park large size vehicule bathrooms from 1980 internet acces not free of charge and impossible to get a connexion
Good location for Bury St Edmunds. Comfortable rooms. Friendly staff.
Food was suprisingly good given the environment but the breakfast was very expensive for what it was The entire interior is in dire need of a make over and the location is right alongside the A14 so is very noisy day and night.
Excessive traffic noise. The need to keep window closed made the room V. hot & stuffy.Public areas-bar & dining area were cold and didn't encourage a lingering meal or drink afterwards.Food surprisingly good in the evening but buffet breakfast poor &coffee awful,so much so we skipped breakfast on the 2nd morning (bought rumbout filter type coffee & fresh milk for use in our room instead) Receptionist tried to put a flat advance charge for meals/drinks through on my card upon arrival ! I suppose this indicates the average level of your customers. We wouldn't stay again. See above
Everything the style of the rooms and the staff were so friendly the breakfast was wonderful I miss it now. Ummmm im normally picky but there were none
Size, design and finish of bedroom was very good. Welcoming and attentive staff. Good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Nothing.
Wonderfully helpful staff, superb room and well presented good food.
Food and service was excellent None
friendly family run hotel, staff most helpful and acconodating. we will be going again.
I rather liked the thoughtful layout of the rooms: the quality of service and food at the Restaurant: and the willingness of the staff to help wherever they could Only the proximity of an A road (by the front door) but that is not really something easily solved
Excellent food, good sized and well planned room, excellent shower
Friendly very good food and superb accomodation. Liked everything.
We spent two nights in one of the four poster bedrooms in the newer part of the hotel. The room was beautiful and although we have stayed in some lovely hotels previously this room was probably one of the nicest. The en-suite with huge shower was lovely with some lovely extra touches. Can't wait to go back for another weekend.
Friendliness of staff and quality of food
Good breakfasts. Comfortable bed. Warm room. Hotel did not fix shower head even after we asked twice. Window would not shut. TV signal was poor. Not happy that I was asked to pay for the room when I arrived, even though money had come out of my credit card account the week before. Not happy that we were asked to pay for breakfasts as hotel didnt think breakfasts were included when booked through Bokings.com. We had to show your email as proof as they had not been sent a copy of your email, allegedly.
The location, very good Hotel very run down, staff not very helpful, ive stayed at the bell three times over the years as we race at snetterton racetrack and each time the hotel looks a little tired,it needs a little tlc dont think we will stay next year.
nothing due to the smell and unclean feel of the hotel we did not stay the night. the hotel needs some serious renovation. upon checking out (within an hour of checking in!) we were still charged the full amount despite stating the above
The only fault was that we did not realise that the radiator in the room had been turned off and therefor the room was on the cold side due to the time of year.
The staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was great.Beds were comfortable and the rooms was lovely and clean. The room was fairly cold even though the radiator was on. The plumbing needs to be sorted. I tried to run a bath and only a trickle of water came out and that wasn't very hot. So,I tried the shower and it was the same.
the hotel has good faccilities and our room was pleasant. Breakfast also good we were put in a room directly above a very loud party. The hotel refused to compensate us in any way for the fact that we couldn't sleep
checking out evening restaurant service, crap
Excellent value, good food, friendly hotel staff. Although efficient the bar staff could have been taught to smile.
I am disabled and there was always a disabled space for my car and the staff were friendly. The hotel room was not clean. On the surface it looked clean but when I laid on the bed the wall behind was covered in dust.
Very large bathroom. Restaurant staff gave good service. Newspaper arrived early. No telephone in the room so although I was asked if I would like a wake up call it never arrived.
Warm friendly atmosphere and staff. Clean and comfortable
Lovely friendly inn. My (disabled)room was excellent, the bed was better than mine at home! Apart from the toilet seat the room/bathroom was beautifully clean. Breakfast was great, served by a very smiley, happy young lady. My room was adjacent to entrance of inn, so noisy, though it did stop just before 11pm. would not want to be staying in that room in the summer as there were patio tables/chairs right outside the room. Toilet seat wasn't clean. could hear another guests tv blasting out at 7.15am on the Sunday morning
Nice Cosy quiet thatched cottage appeal. Friendly attentive staff
Excellent room, good size and features. The pub/restaurant to which it was attached served excellent food both evenings and breakfast. Great staff and service. Only slight point was a feeble shower but it did work ok and didn't stop me really enjoying my stay- might have been just my room
Hotel was clean and tidy, with friendly staff. Only bbc on tv so very limited on viewing as reception very poor
Very friendly staff, excellent food. None
Excellent, comfortable rooms, amazing shower. Excellent food (breakfast is a must) and friendly, helpful staff. Very reasonably priced If I have to pick one, very poor reception on some of the freeview channels but you'll get that anywhere
Large spacious room. Very private. Easy to find hotel.Very clean. Good breakfast and lunches available. Good pleasant service and relaxed atmosphere. Free parking Minor point, Plug disconnected in bathroom basin
clean comfortable will stay there again. nothing
No bad points at all
nothing at all not a very good experience, toilet and hot water not working.
General atmosphere plenty of parking excellent breakfast position in the high street None
It was convenient to our place of business. The breakfast on the friday was poorly prepared and unpleasant. Saturday and Sunday were much better. Saturday night therev was a rather noisy Karaoke in the bar below our room. This is not the quality country hotel that the website suggests.
Well situated for our requirement to go to " GO APE " for a sponsored event. Quiet and pecefull surroundings. Convenient for local shops, restaurants and pubs. Friendly and helpfull staff. Trouble free booking. Will neede updating in the very near future but still had character.
Comfortable Room remove the marquee, clean the windows, redecorate in places.
Friendly staff very accomodating. Hotel needs updating old tired decoration.
would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.
Breakfast was nice Building needs lots of attention inside and outside. Some of the staff were pleasent. The one thing that was infuriating, was that some guests were out the front of the building smoking/drinking and shouting at the early hours of the morning and kept me awake until at least 2am, not funny when you have to be up at 6am!!! A complaint was made to a member of staff in the morning, and nothing was said by them.
The room was comortable and clean. There was plenty of parking space available. Although the breakfast was buffet style it was of a good quality. The room was a little cramped, the additional single bed, which we didn't need, didn't help. The service at breakfast, replenishing the buffet, was slow and tea wasn't offered. Having said this, given the fact that the waitress doubled up as the receptionist I thought that she did very well.
Very little Poor staff, dirty rooms, shocking food
Good size, clean and bright. No hot water in the morning! Apparently due to boiler malfunction...
Fabulous food with a great choice! Made to feel welcome, staff were friendly without being "over the top".
It was really peaceful staying at the six bells hotel. We felt really relaxed after the weekend and look forward to returning soon. My only dislike about the room we stayed in was the mould in the bathroom.
Excellent food at both breakfasts and dinners. Pleasant bar area.
Nice setting,good room, good food
Rural location, friendly staff and other guests.Excellent value for money on all counts.
The location is excellent, the food as first class and the staff very friendly and attentive
we found the hotel to be very welcoming with fiendly staff and a high level of service
Food and accommodation both excellent No
The food was very good Our room had the shower cubicle separate from the toilet and hand basin room. This was not convenient.
The hotel was far enough from a main road to have the solitude that we required
The Staff Nothing
Fantastic room, stayed in the log cabin. Spacious and very clean. Very quiet, no noise from hotel. Absolutely Nothing!! Food, room and service were all excellent.
The staff were very friendly and polite, the room was fantastic, beautiful views out of the room, very spacious On arrival to our room, there were loads of flies on our inside window, we had to chase them out, they obviously found the room very comfortable like ourselves !
Small and friendly, lovely room and facilities. Room was freezing and heating remote control had no instructions!! Took 6 hours to warm up room when control was eventually understood. booke superior double room but only one bath and hand towel was supplied (discovered too late to rectify problem) and not nearly enough coffee. Also no hairdryer!! With hindsight all of these problems could easily be rectified, but I think the staff should have been more thoughtful/helpful
The staff and the food was very good The bed and the size of the room for the price. Paying £100 for a double room in the middle of nowhere I would expect a decent size bed. Not a 4 foot double bed. It was the most uncomfortable bed as well. The room was an attic room with very little window and the most horrible sisal carpeting which was like having the soles of your feet grated everytime you walked on it. However the room was clean and the ensuite more than expected.
Relaxed friendly atmosphere & lovely surroundings
Quite the room was cold and had to request a portable heater to warm it up
I liked the quite location, the established atmosphere, the friendly staff and the quality of the breakfast. The shower screen did not fit properly so water leaked on to the floor and my first choice at breakfast (kippers) was unavailable.
Staff very friendly and helpful
The bedroom and bathroom were absolutely spotless and the beds very confortable and the dining room was bright and relaxing
Very few, breakfast was ok and the hotel's own website was good - if very unrepresentative of the actual hotel. A very poor shower and shoddy room - totally misrepresented by the hotel's website.
The breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Ensuite shower room was too small and rather dated.
Friendliness of the staff and the excellent quality of the food, together with it's proximity to my workplace.
Very welcoming and we would have liked to have been staying longer
The welcoming staff. Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast needed to be earlier than stated and was told that was fine. Apparently the earliest they had done breakfast for was 4 30!!!! Room was exactly as seen in pictures which made a refreshing change.
Nice hotel in lovely grounds, comfortable room, friendly staff and a good breakfast. Felt that a cot charge of £10 was excessive, did not pay for a cot last time we stayed there. No drinking water in the room.
Lovely, well thought-out room, very quiet at night. Beds very comfortable. Staff welcoming and friendly.
Very comfortable and welcoming. Great breakfast. Just right for a business overnight stay
The location was nice, within walking distance of the town centre. The room was a little noisy as it was on the main road in and out of the town.
The Old Cannon is a warm little brewery a quick walk to down town. We were welcomed by a friendly staff. Large tanks decorate the pub. We split a light, crispy and delicious fish and chips. Breakfast was well done with Blue Mountain coffee. Typical of pub B$Bs in the UK the room was small as was the bathroom, yet clean and comfortable. It was definitely what we expected. The proximity to down town can't be beat and the parking behind the pub was welcome.
