You can grab a bite to eat at the restaurant, or indulge in deep-tissue massages, detox wraps, or aromatherapy. 2 outdoor pools and a bar/lounge are other highlights at this luxurious hotel, and rooms offer free minibar items and balconies.
Pros: Wonderful, friendly and helpful service from everyone there: especially Carlos, Martin, Jesus and Miguel. If your Spanish isn't great (mine certainly isn't), that is not a problem; their English is very good. The hotel is a little bit of heaven: only 30 rooms but with a good restaurant, bar with a great view over the bay, lush landscaping, lovely pool (with wait staff) plus the hotel is right on the beach. There's even a spa for massages, mani pedi etc. If you like excellent service in a small hotel with unbelievable value in an authentic Mexican fishing town (warts and all) that has lots of very good restaurants (from basic, inexpensive Mexican to fancy expensive international) this is the spot for you. If you want a huge, flashy, sterile hotel with lots of nightlife, multiple pools and lots of people eating and drinking all they can, then please go to Cancun.
Cons: No complaints, but If I had to pick something it would be the spotty wifi. That being said, I went to relax not to surf the Internet or spend time on facebook
At Hotel Aura del Mar, you can hit the beach to enjoy the shade from a beach umbrella or relax in a sun lounger, plus you'll be within a 10-minute drive of La Ropa Beach. Offering a beachfront location, Bistro del Mar serves seafood and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A rooftop terrace and a bar/lounge are other highlights, and rooms offer balconies and minibars.
The images they showed for the room on their web site(Garden Suite), was not even close to what we were given. Since there was a huge wedding at the hotel and they were booked we were not given a choice for a new room. We should have complained, but didn't. Since the Viceroy is a service driven hotel, and does not come with a lot of amenities...no microwave, very small fridge, no clock, no ironing board...no wash towels were initially supplied...besides the leaking roof and broke toilet. While they were very helpful with supplying and fixing some of these things, this left a sour taste with us. We like to eat in town at all the various restaurants, and bring back the extras for later, so the tiny fridge we had was useless...and we had no way to heat it up even if we could. The grounds at the Viceroy were beautiful and well maintained. The hotel is right on the beach with close access to all the little restaurants that line it. The food at the hotel is pricey, but very good.
Pros: The grounds were beautiful. The staff was friendly and very nice. The continental breakfast was great.
Cons: The toilet did not work from the start, and when they 'fixed' it, it leaked, which they did not fix. 4 water major leaks..near the bed in the loft, down the stairs(creating a very slick staircase), in the middle of the living room, and directly on the TV.

Pros: Newer facilities. Grotto was a nice kid-free environment. Bike tour was a fun, included excursion and staff was friendly. Connection to sister resort was a nice walk even though the other hotel was inferior. Lobby bartenders took care of us. Rooms and balconies were comfortable and well kept compared to other resorts in the area. Proximity to Isla Ixtapa was hard to beat- walking distance to ferry.
Cons: Food was pretty bad, limited options and not even presented well. Beach access was a joke. Not many restaurants were open, even though they were advertised as such during booking. Far from town. Layout was a little strange - too tiered/broken up. Back-of-house operations were a little too exposed. Would have been nice if the oyster bar was open during our stay.

Pros: It had its own private beach, a pool with a beautiful view, and amazing restaurants! The staff was very friendly and were always helping with simple things such as carrying out bags and opening car doors. Every room in the hotel has an amazing view of the beach. I reccomend staying here if you need a couple days or week to just relax its amazing.
Cons: It's a lot of walking, there was only one elevator in the entire resort, and the resort is huge! We were traveling with a 3 year old which meant holding him while we walked up and down stairs.
Pros: We have gone to this location for 4 years. Love the location and private beach and especially the staff. Best kept secret. Not a huge beach for walking as it is tucked away. We like that. Others might not.
Cons: Could improve the menu offerings on the beach and lobby bar for happy hour. Elevators were under construction which made it hard as there are many stairs.
Pros: The room, the view, the restaurant, the st.aff were all wonderful.
Cons: We arrived at 12:30, told our room would be ready at 1:00 but at 1:00 we were told that was a mistake and our room wouldn't be ready until 4:00. That was an inconvenience.

Pros: You can walk to the beach, town and restaurants.
The view was beautiful.
The staff was friendly and professional.
Cons: The hotel needs a facelift. My air conditioner quit and I had to move to another room. One day only hot water in the shower. Hair dryer smelled like it was on the verge of burning up. All problems handled promptly, but should not be happening. Everything a little dated.
Pros: The staff is fantastic, professional and so friendly. And the place is well run, no complaints there. Good food too!
Cons: Ok, so I get it, people booking through aggregators are not their ideal customer, so no wonder they put you in their worst room. But I can still review them based on that room, which honestly, no one should ever be put in, AC compressors running all night long on the other side of the wall. The room we were moved to the next day after complaining was better, but still quite noisy (laundry starts up at 8am). If you like quiet, this is not the place for you, unless you can get one of their better rooms.
Cleanliness was to mexican standards. No problem for me, I'm used to it, but in my opinion quite shoddy for the price paid, I would expect resort level spit and shine for 77 bucks USD a night.
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: No elevator.

Pros: Several pools available depending on what you were looking for. Staff were very accommodating. My only suggestion would be is to get up early and reserve a lounge chair as they are somewhat limited.
Pros: We have been staying at Villa Mexicana for over fifteen years. And this year it just seemed exceptionally good. The front desk staff lead by Eloisa is incredible and very helpful. The restaurant was good; both food and staff. And our room was delightful. It is obvious that the owners/management of the hotel have been making some improvements to the property. So far, so good! Just don't make too many changes! A very enjoyable long vacation.
Cons: Frankly, this year I do not have any negative comments. Seriously, all good.

Cons: Beds were a little hard from what I am accustomed, but they worked fine for the week's vacation.
