The Parador is a modern one and has a beach hotel atmosphere.. The room was spacious and the bathroom very large. Decor fine if a tad dated. The hotel terrace was very comfortable and the gardens pretty. Check in was tedious as the clerk could not see and had no spectacles! There was no pleasant greeting so we were a little annoyed. I speak very good Spanish so that could not have been the problem.
The peace and quiet, the spaciousness and cleanliness of the hotel and the swimming pool and surrounding area. My 16-yr old son was pleased about the gym and made use of it every day of our stay. Benicarlo itself does not have a great deal to offer and it was disappointing that there were very few places to eat other than the hotel, which was expensive.
The pool was excellent, close to the duplicity beach The staff was poor and the restaurant staff was really bad, so was the food.
Good service .Spacious room.Nice garden.Good breakfast .Free parking . Poor room soundproofing.Uneasy access to the beach.Overall ,too expensive for the location.
Swimming pool and proximity to beach.
The price we paid was excellent value for money. We only stayed one night so did not have much time to explore the hotel. The swimming pool was not open, a huge disappointment. Also, the restaurant was expensive so we ended up going outside for our meals.
We only stayed one night, but thought it was very clean and friendly hotel. Very comfortable. Staff helpful.
very helpful friendly and nice staff at hotel and at the restaurant bit further from seaside than expected; window overlooking the wall
I liked this hotel for it's good value bed and breakfast. I only stayed one night en route to southern spain. I liked the underground parking facility which was big enough for 4 or 5 cars. You should check the height of your vehicle as the access door is similar to that of a domestic garage so might not be suitable for cars with large top-boxes or some vans. Turning round in the car park needs a few shunts. The manager/owner didn't speak much English, but was fluent in French, so no problems with communication. We were awoken at 02h00 by another hotel client on the level above us who seemed to deliberately make lots of noise. This went on for 5 or 10 minutes but then stopped and the rest of the night was uneventful. I'm not sure how other hotels fare in the same circumstances, with respect to noise levels
The friendly attitude of the owner. If the hotel had tea making facilities, in the room, it would make it an ideal place to stay.
Near the beach and in a safe area No one spoke English, so just be prepared with your Spanish. The same is true of the whole town
The hotel has a great location, food very good, helpfull staff very clean and comfortable. Noise from next rooms and hall due to tiling floor, should put more signs up to remind guest to be quiet an considerate to other guest, tissues in bath room, coffee maker, and English TV would make the stay even better as this is a very Spanish hotel and resort. not many Brits which is great!!
All extremely good. No
Good location. Excellent parking.
The main plus of this hotel are meals. The breakfasts and dinners were really good. It is very nice that the hotel tries to provide different menu, each day there were changes, and the foods of different countries - Italy, arabian, etc. It is also well situated close to the beach and main town distinations. I didn't like the rooms, the rooms have old smell, when you open the door each time it is really awful. The furniture in the room is ikea style of 80'S. The best place in the room is bathroom, it was large enough. There are a lot of old people and families with children in the hotel. It is of course not a 4 stars hotel.
All very clean and modern Buffet food service was not particularly attractive or appetising
The beach front and terrace. Selection of food during breakfast and dinner were great. The hotel was rated 4 stars which we did not think it's right. The room, bed, bathroom had been built in a cheap way and no style. The room had no sound proved system. The air-con made very loud noise so that the room next to us had to put TV very, very loud until after midnight while we had been driving for more than 300 kms and would need a good sleep.
We secured 2 nights full board for £30 p.p. approx. At those prices the hotel - a real 4 star - was an absolute steal. The location on the beach and close to castle was excellent . The food was good with always one or two dishes that were excellent - for a buffet . Drinks were inexpensive . One of the reception staff was unpleasant , the rest of staff were friendly and good .
Location was great, very nice hotel, friendly staff, buffet was acceptable
It was just one night but we had a very good experience!
location is very good, the breakfast is perfect The furniture in the lobby and in the drink bar is very old
Very nice town for sightseeing or just lying on the beach or sitting at the pool.
Very good location - just near the see, possibility to swim in the see and warm up near the swimming pool, and very good tradition to offer cava during breakfasts...
Proximity to the beach, which is quieter than the beach nearer the old town (separated by a road and promenade, though it doesn't look like that in the photos), spacious rooms and jacuzzi, reasonably soundproofed, swimming pool, bars nearby for drinks and ice-creams. If you're looking for the quieter side of Peñiscola then it's the perfect pace for you. Bear in mind that it's about 200/300m from Benicarlo. Check-in was fast and efficient. Hotel description:3km stroll to Peñiscola town- not true. It's at least 5km/an hours stroll- even by car it takes 15/20 mins. The quality of the food was certainly not 4*, hardly even 3*. The breakfast was pretty awful (almost undrinkable coffee & fake, overly sweet juices). The dining room was really crowded at ALL times, and queues were the norm to get in & to get any food which made the dining experience a bit of an ordeal. I'd recommend eating in one of the many local restaurants which are great value. The spa was extra, kids not allowed either. The room we had was at the end of a 300m corridor...not for the old or infirm. Why do we have to pay for parking?a bit of a rip off!
Nice, quiet location. Fine swimming pool
The location and the in house facilities and entertainment. See note in No 1
Hotel and food were both excellent. Close to the beach and shops Yes the constant shouting down the microphone by the entertainers all day and evening. The music that was also played during the day was like Chineese torture!!!
1. Facilities are reasonable 2. Food is OK - well managed buffet but you can see it is prepared to a budget. 3. If your British and like bacon, don't go there with big expectations. 4. Staff were helpful and but working seemlessly. 1. Having to queue for 45 minutes to check in, must improve check in procedure. 2. Paying for car parking, but no spare space & lack of road to park in near the hotel -> no mention of this in their web page. 3. Hotel is surrounded by building under construction, looks like a building site! 4. Children under 12 years can not use the indoor pool in the SPA.
The food was awful, and much of it was inedible. Guests were moved through hotel and restaurant like cattle. Pool was only open for kids 1 hr/d despite being empty.
Hotel was very noisy
Location in a quite place in front of the beach, the hotel looks new and is very confortable. Very friendly staff. The customers are mayority seniors, which is also a posite point that results in a quite environment
location - view od Mediterranean
Bar staff and ambience of public areas good. For the type of restaurant (ie Buffet ) evening meal pretty good.Very good value for money in the winter months.Bedrooms fine . The bathroom was somewhat tired and needed taps updating
The position of the hotel and the splendour of the room
location excellent for beach the walls are very thin we heard normal conversations from next door.
Would definatly go back there again, we were the only english visitors there @ the time, but were made more than welcome
The location of this hotel is perfect. Opposite one of the nicest beaches. The suite we had was very spacious and clean. Nothing to complain of. We have used this hotel before and will definatly use again if we are in the area. Some of the reviews mention it is a long walk to the nearby town center... Well if you are lazy I supose it could be, but for us we actually enjoy the pleasant stroll along the sea front.
Level of facilities and quality of accommodation was excellent. We had a very large, clean and airy room with a large balcony. Meals were fairly basic but for the cost represented very good value for money. It's a long walk into Peniscola but there is a regular bus service past the hotel
The fact that the beach was right infront of the hotel and the cheap bar next door to the complex, with euro1.70 beers. If you want to holiday in a retirement village where families come to visit the old folk then this is the place. Get to breakfast very early to avoid numerous screaming children.
Realy good location. Food something for everyone on buffet Only a couple of the staff could speak a little English. Sometimes entertainment was too loud.
Good rooms and restaurants. Helpful staff. It is a family hotel in summer and there are hundreds of young children and loads of noisy organised games all day and up to midnight. Meal times also very noisy due to all the young kids.
2nd visit. Staff were great, Upgraded us to a suite, will be back next year
comfort, location No towel service, strange for a 4 star hotel. Reservation system for diner is strange (just breakfast included, and problems to have diner in one of the a la carte restaurants
Nice location and a wide variety of facilities.
The food was a little disappointing.
The quality and choice of food and wine was excellent. The staff helpful and friendly in spite of what must have been a stressful time with the senior citizens A very small niggle, there were no single malt whiskies at your bars. This seems to be generall in Spain
The absolute top of 9 "booking.com hotels" we visited this year. Good location, large room and especially bathroom, beautiful view from the balcony, rich dinner buffet, nice swimming pool, friendly staff,...
comfortable room no
Great stay, clean, modern, quiet, close to train station/beach/downtown. Fast and easy check in/out. Would stay there again. nothing to complain about
location. comfort no Internet
Nice views from ou room overlooking the sea, staff where very good & friendly. The ones we rember particularly where Juan on the recption desk and Genna who was at the place where the dinks where purchased in the resteruant. Was a very pleasant stay thank you The only thing we found was that it was a bit disapointing not to have coffee / tea making facilities in our room.
the helpfulness of the staff The wi-fi was not working. there was no satellite tv. the parking was no good for my van.
Staff was really helpfull and friendly. The room was huge with a 2xdouble bed next to eachother.Wine in the resto at really budget prices The buffet restaurant in the evening was "for carnivores and omnivors only". Almost non vegetarian alternative. Resto was also very loud and hectic (the Spanish way) which is not necessary to be perceived as negative (= couleur locale)
Wonderfull view from balcony to beach and castle. Funcitional room. Large bathroom with good shower. Breakfast and dinner were good. Good location near beach. Overall a good choice. Mercado near. Beds are a bit low with wooden edges. Tv small. Wifi not free.
Excellent location for the beach, exploring the Castle with all it's shops, tapas bars and restaurants. Very friendly staff who can help and assist in many languages. Nothing
I didn't like this hotel at all. Everything was horrible. First room was with view on the roof with cigarette ends, the second - on the street. After thousand request I could change this one. The personal couldn't answer any question and no will to do this. The dish was often dirty. The pool is open at uncomfortable time. I couldn't use it after or before breakfast. The last early breakfast (which was booked) I could get only with scandal!
Good sized rooms. secure parking. pleasant restaurant and bar. The food in the restaurant was of a very good variety and well presented. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner was very poor. Much of the 'hot' food was cold. the plates were cold so causing any warmth in the food to be lost very quickly. The squewered meat was under cooked and quite fatty to chew - very unpleasant. The hotel is very good - shame the food let it down.
Closeness to the city centre and sea view. Toiletries very nice. The gym. The choice of food was limited, the food was very cold and crockery chipped.White Wine list poor. No tea or coffee facilities in room. No drawers in room at all. Glasses for minibar were dirty, and never washed when left out in room.
Beachside location close to centre of peniscola Internal building work in progress with unpleasant drainage smells and noise. Heating system inadequate.. resort very quiet with many restaurants closed
The position of the hotel was perfect A very nice hotel but what a disappointment when the the reception was very off hand. In the dining room it was the same. The food was nice but served cold and the head waiter was almost rude, not only to ourselves it was with everyone.
Very nice hotel, well situated and has alot of Spanish character. We booked through Booking.Com for Half Board. Be careful if you order from the A La Carte menu as you do not get a deduction from your Half Board, i.e. you pay twice for dinner !!! Recommend booking Bed & Breakfast only, then you can choose where you eat as there are many excellent local restaurants and you will only pay once for dinner....
Tranquil. Well maintained and interesting historical surroundings. Comfortable well-appointed bedroom. Secure parking with easy access. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast. Splendid location. No food available in the evening before dining room opened at 20.30
a traditional hotel with old-fashioned service, very comfortable and well run.
Nicely decorated, good breakfast (especially for European standards). Could have been cleaner (hairs on sheets), beds as hard as concrete. Staff was efficient but definitely not overfriendly, except the lady that checked us out.
The location. Right on the beach, looking over the Mediterranean, close enough to Peniscola to walk in for a meal. Wifi worked, but they have a rather strange system of cards. The fact that you need to get a card to use the wifi was a little strange. The rugs on the polished tile floors were very slippery, I ended up just pushing them into a corner.
location, next to the beach and only 15 minutes walk to the castle. Facilities very good and exellent breakfast.
Great location As a shade under a 6 footer, the bed in our room was short. The restaurant was most disappointing.
Very poor. Bitterly cold dinning rooming as no heating was on. Reform work meant dusty room and price was far to high for what was provided. Our special requests were not read. We cancelled our return booking for 13 Dec and reserved another hotel. They tried to charge extra for drinks that were advised as included.
The level of service at the spa was excellent and the food was good. The hotel was a "work in progress". The were no staff on hand apart from at reception which was always very busy. The bar was closed until 11pm in the evening and there did not appear to be anybody in charge anywhere.
Loved the location, the facilities and the views!
Moder design, clean, close to the beach The personell is not enough, queues at lunch / dinner. Food buffet could be improved for this hotel category
the rooms where excellent but we felt the buffet food dinner /breakfast could be improved as before only the food we stayed one night then we stayed at the papa luna and the food is far better and entertainment
A good and friendly hotel.
