It was a lovely 10 minute walk along promenade into town centre, a walk we enjoyed a couple of times a day! Also spa in hotel was really nice. Beds were huge and really comfortable. Had a great weekend in Biarritz!!
The location of the hotel is excellent, overlooking the beach and not too long a walk to restaurants. Pool area is excellent. Room very comfortable. Food and drinks in the hotel are very expensive.
The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and tastefully furnished. The pool area and spa were fantastic with wonderful views over the crashing waves. It is a wonderful beach location. We were led to believe from the web site that all rooms had sea views. This is totally wrong and you only get a sea view if you pay a premium price. We were disappoointed to be given a room at the side of the hotel immediately above the staff smoking area. This was our biggest complaint. Our other complaint was the cost of meals in the hotel. Breakfast was 28 euros each and we were not prepared to spend another 56 euros every day for breakfast, so we were reluctantly forced to go out for breakfast every day. Had breakfast been more realistically priced at say 15 to 20 euros per person then we would have had breakfast in the hotel.
The location was superb right on the sea front . Rooms quite spacious with comfortable beds and bedding. The indoor and outdoor pools were heated with plenty of sunbeds
location rude waiter at dinner (didn't eat there again); no hair conditioner in bathroom
beds were comfortable Reception staff were good at check-in. Concierge staff make a very good effort waited 15 minutes for valet to get my car, while other guests were more important. during this time, one valet was loading another guests car, another was told by the reception to take bags to a room, although I had pointed out that I had been waiting for my car for a long time. food was extortionately expensive. breakfast quickly became boring. room service most expensive, and most limited I have ever come across. we once tried to have lunch at the hotel, but despite asking the restaurant hostess to point out to the staff that we had been at our table for a long time, with no service, we eventually just left, having not had our order taken, and run out of time in our schedule.
Everything the service and room was excellant no
Location and ocean-side views over-priced food and drinks
Overall the service was impeccable. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The quality and cleanliness of the rooms is second to none. I have stayed at this hotel before and will do again - I look forward to it. For some reason this time, the breakfast service was poor. The staff were 'distant' and seemed to be falling out amongst themselves. On one day, we didn't get our coffee for about 20 minutes and on another, the restaurant ran out of plates, so people were putting bread, cooked breakfast etc in a cereal bowl. There seemed to be no urgency, nor desire to provide a good service. This was a pity and contrary to every other service in the hotel.
Well placed and a very good hotel. The room we had was excellent Bathroom in the suite was not good. The bath was too narrow and shower door inadequate meaning that when using the shower it sprayed everywhere which made it a safety hazard. It would not stop me using the hotel again.
Everything, first class hotel. Staff helpful and friendly. Good location. Old world charm and character about the hotel building. Everything was excellent.
Beautiful old building that was unfortunately still under renovation. Many parts of the hotel were showing signs of age (the pool for example), but they were actually the mid-century additions or fixtures. I'm curious to see the hotel after the renovations are finished.
The room was spacious, well equiped and very comfortable.
Staff were most helpful, polite & courteous We weren't advised before the stay that works were being undertaken at the hotel, the hotel was enclosed in scaffolding, our room therefore had no views.
Good location with good parking. None
Location over looking both Biarritz La Phare Golf course and Biarritz coast. Clean and quiet swimming pool. Great service. 20 up hill walk back from centre of Biarritz. Cost of drinks - 9 Euros for 50cl Biere.
Go to beach
The hotel was clean and was quietly situated but convenient for restaurants, shops and golf. Nothing
Entrance to the Hotel was fabulous as were all the communal areas The room we were issued was in need of repair and re-decoration
I liked my staying in the hotel. Good lacation.
Grand old hotel in wonderful position, maintaining its historically high standards. Some confusion about the two restaurants, which seem to share the same dining room but offer different menus.
location and view from dining room place is showing its age, and its cost for rooms and meals are far too high. breakfast for 1 person was 50 euro, about $60 USD. the ocean view room i reserved from kayak was $550, and the only view of the water was from a side window; you had to right up next to the window to even see the water or beach. when i complained, they said that since you can see the water from the window, it qualifies as ocean view. we got misled from the check in girl as to when our room would be ready, and got fast double talk as to what happened. there also appears to be some wiggle room between what we learned about the room from kayak and what the hotel provided. kind of a bait and switch. we won't be back.
Pool area , bar and restaurant are excellent. Our room was small and the bathroom was dated.
Everything, the rooms are luxurious, the staff is professional and friendly, the building is beautiful. The best of European hospitality. And the food...glorious!!!
Location Location Location Parking Area No Lighting?Staff could be frendlier.
Very helpful staff
I would rate this hotel as a 3 star hotel rather than 4 star. It was clean & nice but not what i'd expect from a 4 star hotel.
Nothing except close to beach This hotel is total rip off. Its way overpriced and old fashioned. Had to pay on arrival.Noisy and food was way too expensive. Never again!
The hotel was in a central position and there were parking facilities. The evening dinner was excellent. Breakfast items that were shown on the menu weren't actually available and would have been charged to us at full price had we not complained. The normal room rate is very overpriced but is good value at the special offer rate that we paid. There was insufficient drawer space in the room and the air conditioning unit was very noisy and would not switch off.
the location. Very convenient to all main places in Biarritz. the room was nice. The shower was missing the piece to hold it to the wall on top. I was very annoyed when at 3pm I wanted to get some room service and the restaurant was closed! I guess is a problem in France not only of this hotel.
size of room air condition not working for two nights. blockage in waste water outlet pipe - when advised for the next visitor they were already aware of it but still put us in the room!
Location They invited us for breakfast and told us it was "included" and then charged us for it. Breakfast is horrible including eggs made out of some mix and watery and very little to eat. Rooms are VERY small.
The room was a very comfortable size for three people. It's in a great location, very close to the beach and restaurants, but not in too noisy of a location. The hotel staff was also very helpful and accommodating to our needs. They went above and beyond to help us out!
Location Parking was difficult to find, the room was very small for 175euro a night, front facing room very noisy, no working air conditioning.
Staff very good and the room perfect. We got upgrade because we were in honey moon.
The space, situation and cleanlines
Very nice staff. Great pool. Good value Very loud due to motorcycles driving but all night.
The whole deal. centrally located, on-site parking, friendly staff, clean and bright, fantastic sea and coastline views and the price. I recommend it! I liked it all.
It is ideally located with easy access to bakery and regular shops. It was great to have the small kitchen in the room especially when the kids needed to eat early in the evening. Also the restuarant allowed us to take food up to the room, best of both world's. I would go back to the hotel but I'd bring my own pillow and also to beware that the majority of people staying there are older and I was very aware of having the children running around.
great sea view with big balcony. fantastic facilities for cooking and keeping things cold. also great bathroom plus ideal for kids and I don't have any! pool closed but probably because out of seasion
They had booked a large party of young sports men who were out late at night and were very very noisey on their return and distrubed two of our nights sleep.
location, excellent views and quality of apartment
We liked the hotel the area and the accomadition also the very spacious room and of course the well equipped kitchen
location, room our double buggies did not fit into the lift or the hotel room, also we were not allowed a late check out
The view of the coastline from Le Grand Large was spectacular. The hotel is located within easy access of shops, restaurants, transportation. Having 2 non-working elevators for a period of time was unacceptable for a hotel with 9 floors.
The hotel is very well placed just in front of the ocean and very close to the centre of Biarritz. You just have a street to cross to be on the main beach. The room is comfortable and I loved its design. Nice view on the ocean (room on the ocean side) and if you closed the windows, absolutely quiet, otherwise the noise of the ocean. No private parking place. Public parking (casino) very close but might be a pb in high season and week-ends.
excellent location- very clean-friendly staff and very good breakfast
the hotel was adequate for a short stay,I would not like to be there more than a few days as the facilities were quite basic. Rather plain.
We stay here for a week-end visiting Biarritz. The hotel is very well located. The rooms are small but very pretty and clean. The bathroom also small but new and clean. Perfect hotel for a week-end in Biarritz! As it is located in front of the beach, there is no easy pace for parking. But anything is perfect!
A great room with a great view in a very well located hotel. Staff was friendly and hard working.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great location right on the beach and we had a partial sea view even though we ordered a courtyard view. The room was quite small but had everything we needed and was modern, clean and stylish.
Staff very friendly, excellent facilities Wooden floors not very practical for sound. Breakfast expensive
The location at the Grand Plage with the ocean wiew. Small slow elevator, expensive in relation to standard, bathroom poor standard with bad smell.
The check in was faultless, even though we were later then anticpated, the location is excelent, ideal for shopping or going to the beach or even getting on a bus to go out of town.I Would definitely stay at the hotel again, also it was very good value for money.
A good hotel, excellent cleaning, friendly staff. Very noisy at night from people walking along the embankment.
the hotel was very central and we had a lovely room, most of the staff were very helpful and nice and they had a no smoking policy in the bedrooms which was fantastic as most of the hotels in france allow smoking everywhere
Very friendly staff, great location, & very clean comfortable room. Breakfast better than most French hotels!
The staff were extremely helpful .Nothing was too much trouble Needed a shower screen
location excellent.staff really great .good breakfast and with car parking.its a no brainer -book it
I thought the hotel employees from the cleaning staff to the receptionists were very pleasant and reception staff tried to be especially helpful, in the light of the French strike and our cancelled flight by Ryan air - who I would never fly with again. The room was rather crampted for two people staying 11 nights (resulting from cancelled flight) I would only recommend 5 nights stay because of the room size factor. There should be larger rooms available for stays any longer than a week.
Hotel staff were excellent. Very friendly and very helpful. If you are not up early breakfast drinks i.e. coffee, tea can be cold and fruit salad finished.
Got a modern recently refurbished room, with a very nice bathroom and separate toilet. Hotel is in excellent location, quiet, and very close to the beach and the city center. Staff was very helpful and nice. If you are planning on going to San Sebastian, the bus to the train station passes right outside the hotel.
Have just stayed for a week and the whole experience was fantastic. The staff must be the most friendly and helpful of anywhere in the world. They appear very happy in their work. Brilliant value for money and centarl. Highly recommended by our party of six. Everthing excellent.
Very friendly and polite staff with good English language speaking skills.
It was very central to everywhere, airport, beach, bus stops, etc. The lighting in the room could be improved
The rooftop pool and terrace are spectacular at sunset.
location excellent. found all staff were welcoming, friendly & efficient spa was closed and was one of reasons for choosing hotel. breakfast €23 too expensive
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull
Everything Limited selection and quantity of food
Nothing special, just good for thus price.
The Hotel is clean and relaxing loved the roof top pool. We wanted to eat in the hotel but on 2 occasions the rooms were taken with private parties, not impressed.
Close to main town and pool was nice with good bar service AC didn't cool room down very well
Hotel very central to surfers beach, shops and restaurants. Room large, clean and very comfortable bed. Good sized bathroom with towelling robes. Rooftop terrace and heated pool amazing with fantastic views of Biarritz. Staff at reception were very helpful and polite. They recommended and booked some lovely restaurants for us.
Comfort and friendly staff. breakfast needs to be improved for Irish residents in the hotel
We were travelling from the Costa Blanca to Poitiers and it was an excellent place to stop. It was our first time in Biarritz and we had time to see the city and drink a few beers by the sea front. We had dinner in the hotel which was very good. Normallt we would eat out but we were not impressed with the restaurants in Biarritz. We selected some champagne coctails from the bar menu which arrived 20 mins later after the bar staff had received some training!
Very nice view from terrasa, cafe and pool
Very nice romantic place but not for the long stay It would be so nice if they made the territory much more!
The whole experience was wonderful - from the look of the manor, to the staff, to the owner chauffering us in his Rolls to our dinner reservation. The staff is extremely attentive, without being intrusive. The room was luxurious, but comfortable. A very special place. Price per person for breakfast seems high.
My friend and I thought tis was one of the better hotels either one of us has ever been to--beautifully appointed rooms and excellent service make staying at this small boutique-hotel an excellent experience.
Gorgeous room, fab bath and shower, absolutely charming staff, stylish hotel.. Great touches like a huge bowl of gorgeous fresh fruit in reception, and breakfast was great - lovely table, prompt service and delicious. But don't order dinner there - at least not on a Sunday night. Our dinner experience was not good. Firstly we waited ages and ages. The choice was limited but that was OK, except the food wasn't ok. It was strange bordering on bizarre and really not very nice. We ordered some cold starters (amongst which was a serving of 'green' asparagus which came limp, soggy and almost brown in colour - obviously tinned and frankly inedible) and one hot starter. All the cold starters were served together - there were 6 of us - but the one hot starter only came ages later with all the main courses. The mains were local dishes and really not very nice, weren't hot enough and certainly not up to standard. Shame as hotel otherwise is gorgeous.
Can't speak highly enough of the friendliness & helpfulness of the staff No bad points
Super friendly staff. Beautiful and very stylish hotel.
staff very helpful, responsive and friendly. Service was great - efficient but never intrusive;. Rooms and common areas - lounge, pool, gardens, very beautiful, pool was especially nice as its long enough to swim properly in
Very friendly staff, free parking, free internet. Lack of rooms with a fridge and microwave.
Everything, as always the Campanile standard is excellent. No
Easy access to the motorway network, friendly and helpful staff Nothing at all
Staff helpful and efficient. At times there was a lack of hot and even warm water> I brought this to the attention of the manager who said the hotel did not have sufficient hot water capacity to cope with the number of people staying at the hotel.
Good staff, excellent quality campanile food, parking outside, close to station. A bit out of Biarittz for walking. Noisy main road but I did not really notice it
Proximity to your excellent restaurent!
Easy to find, convenient size for stopover with tea coffee making facilities and air con. Did not like the connecting door to another room. First time we have encountered this with your Hotel.
Location for airport Not very good value for money
Clean room, Attentive staff, all spoke good English. Close to Autoroute
Comfortable beds and bedding. Easy to find location. Client parking - even though your (or their) website description implies none available! Reliable hot water in an adequate bathroom/toilet. Ease of access to ground floor rooms.
I loved the design, decor and comfort of the hotel and the rooms.- very pleasant on the eye. and the location - very close to good restaurants, shops, the sea. and bus stop. The heating system in the room and the heated radiator towel railing were brilliant as we were in Biarritz in extremely wet windy conditions. The weather but the hotel could do nothing about that. Some of the tourist sights were not open.
Whilst the rooms were quite small the furniture was well designed and the staff were really friendly - they gave us some really good recomendation for what to do and see. Breakfast was too expensive.
The room was very nice indeed. Very modern and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As much as I liked the hotel room the only draw back was the lack of privacy for the bathroom (no door) which may sometimes be required!
Very central location which suited us very well - handy to beach and restaurants. We liked the bedroom floors and the fact that the shower was walk-in, not in a bath. We were upgraded to a 'superior room' which was on the ground floor. The shallow sinks are the silliest design ever - stylish but silly. The staff were very friendly and helpful but unfortunately gave us wrong information about the bus to San Sebastian and we missed it!
Location in the centre of the city, not so far from the ocean First of all: I booked a hotel at 21-00, came at 23-00. The hotel was closed despite the fact that it was stated that "reception - 24 hours" I had to call and wait for the manager 20 minutes! After that, he had long wished not to give the room, because "reservation has been made too late." This is unacceptable!
No nonsense, good efficient staff, good breakfast. All in all will go back. Nothing
hotel is well situated near town centre and historic quarter. Our room was small but clean and adequate. Tea/coffee/kettle tray available on request at no charge. Nice staff.
Reserver pour 2 recu resa de kayak pour 1 personne Obliger de paye sup de 8€ pour mon epouse !
Nice room, very helpful staff
Very friendly and helpful staff, and well located near beach and city center. No bath in our room, no fridge in room.
We came driving from San Sebastian and the hotel was really easy to find. Dont forget to book a parking spot if you go by car. Parking right by the hotel was perfect. Staff was really service minded and nice. Rooms was flawless and cosy. Breakfast included good mix of healthy options mixed with a little vacation snack.
My partner and I stayed for 1 night in this hotel - We loved it and the staff were very helpfull & had good English also! There are lots of Tapas and Wine Bars nearby and the market is less than 5 mins away! Also the staff recomended an excellent restaurant nearby... which was filled with locals! This is a great hotel - We paid extra for the large balcony whuch was lovely... and it was nice to sit out and have our breakfast in the morning sun!I would deffo stay here again! No Complaints!
friendly staff. good location..room well appointed.breakfast choice good with continental and hot choices. lift could do with modernising
It was very nice staying at Kemaris. The room was clearn, well designed, and the staff were very helpful.
Very helpful staff and lovely room Not something I disliked but could have had sunloungers on our lovely balcony!
The staffs were very helpful and nice. There was a stain on the sheet, we told them and they changed them immediately.
1. Clean rooms and magnificent view of the Grand Plage. 2. Helpful and friendly staff. 3. Central location. 1. No shower curtain when taking shower in the bathtub, water all over the floor!
The location was excellent as the hotel is situated in the middle of town and facing the beach and sea. The decor was very nice indeed and the staff were always helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We also ate in the restaurant and whilst expensive, both the food and service were outstanding. We would fully recommend this hotel. N/a
the view from my window the quality of the breakfast and the small area that it's served in, poor value for €20
Fabulous location, charming staff and delicious food. Wonderful view from our room and small terrace. Stylish decor throughout the hotel. Appalling weather! Obviously not the fault of the hotel, but there was little to do in torrential rain. Nowhere to buy English newspapers eve.
The staff at the hotel were delightful, although the room had not been thoroughly cleaned and a broken tv was not mended. As above
Being on a pedestrian square, the hotel is very quiet and yet has a fine view of the Grand Plage. It is very well placed for shopping and for strolling along the sea front. The staff were very friendly and their English much better than my French!
Locashion, stuff is very helpfull. For sure the brekfast is bad
I liked the situation of the room and views were lovely. Staff did not bother me during the day and were helpful when I requested anything. I was not happy to be charged for breakfast which I did not take. The receptionist made a deduction for this but had I not checked the bill I would have been overcharged by 120€. Also Wifi was claimed to be free throughout the hotel but I wS charged 1.65€ per day for this.
friendly staff and contemporary style Lack of sun on balcony
The location of the hotel was superb, allowing one of us to surf and one of us to shop! The decor and ambience of the hotel and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff meant that we had one of the best experiences of a small hotel we have ever had. Parking.... Public underground Car Park (Bellevue) close by which the hotel uses but beware height restriction is 1.90m.
Attractive location, Chateau & grounds. Very friendly staff, would stay there again. A very pleasent stay and no complaints.
The staff was excellent, very helpful, and friendly. The grounds are beautiful, the chateau is a wonderful 200 year old mansion in the countryside. It was elegant, peaceful and comfortable. I loved the old world luxury. The bathroom was very large, elegant and exquisite. The room was a bit cool as the weather was unusually chilly for the time of year, but the staff offered up a space heater, which worked out perfectly.
This is a lovely old building and most of the furniture is antique. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the gardens and fountains was lovely. We received a very warm welcome, the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The lounge is especially lovely in the evenings. Parking is easy. There is a choice of staying in the Chateau itself or the 'Hunting Lodge' which has newer style rooms. The Chateau is in a residential area. There is a gourmet restaurant next door, but otherwise it is a car drive into Biarritz.
Warm welcome and helpful receptionist;lovely grounds & main mansion house; private terrace. Noise from nearby construction work - slightly spoiled our enjoyment of the grounds.
beautiful house, different experience from modern hotels lovely grounds beautiful mature trees enjoyed our stay
Biarritz is a beautiful toewn. Too exprensive for what it was.
Newly renovated so in excellent condition. Room good size and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel is excellent also. Although the bedroom was made up on the second day the dirty towels in the bathroom were not replaced.
centrally located near beach and resturants room was very small
Location No car parking
The Hotel was warm and friendly
I stayed at the hotel with my husband and mother. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very polite and friendly and the location is excellent. However we did feel that the cost of our stay was a bit steep as the hotel rooms were small and needed a little bit of a face lift.
Small and very cosy hotel with friendly staff. The room is too small but quiet and nice furnished with stylish bathroom and modern plumbing equipment. It'll be great to pay less but it's Biarritz at hot season!!!!
Excellent location, close to beach and shops/restaurants Ocean-side room required you to step out onto tiny balcony and crane your neck to see the ocean.
Fab new hotel, good staff who showed us our room personally, lovely flat screen TV, not that you be watching it, lovely power shower, comfy bed. LIked that WC was in separate room to Shower. Would highly recommend this beach central hotel. No faults, in time this should get lonely planet mention.
Close to everything. New hotel. Nice staff. It was not able to lock the door to the room until 3 days was gone.
My partner adn I stayed for one night in this hotel. Its location is fantastic - it is right in the middle the main shopping street! We had an Ocean view Room on the 8th floor and it really was worht the extra money - the view was gordeous both to sit and relax in teh evening and also waking up in the morning it was spectacular....The room was clean - a little small - but well designed and clever use of space & had a nice designer quality finish. No Complaints!!!
The location was excellent. No.
Great location, helpful staff, comfortable room, good breakfast - all in all. a very good experience. Welcome bag a nice and original touch.
I liked the central location of the hotel and the inroom tea/coffee making facility was welcome. The room was too small aand the breakfast offered was expensive.
We had a wonderful stay here, The service in the hotel was very good, the welcome pack including a backpack was great, it would be a great example for other city break hotels. great location for beach, shopping and sightseeing. Will stay here again. The only complaint could have was the weather was poor for our stay, not that the hotel could be blamed for that!
Great location, clean room and a good breakfast
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The overall room was light and airy. The bathroom was updated and spotless. The mattress was a little soft - although the rest of the bedding was lovely. With the window open, the street was a little noisy at night (~9-11pm) but then quieted down
Pleasant staff very small room, difficult to get into double bed from one side. Lighthouse beam disturbing during night.
Very cosy and nice hotel, the staff very polite. The hotel is beautiful, everything in stlie, with wonderful Edwardian decorations, comrtable beds. Yes I would go back any time. Located in a short walking distance from the center.
Very good location and helpful staff I was surprised that there wasn't a waste paper basket in the hotel room
The decor Aircon was broken and our room was very hot. Also due to the floorboards going through to the next room, we were woken up by the next door guests a lot.
Staff was very accomodating. Since there is no elevator, and I was staying for just one night traveling with a heavy suitcase following a business trip, I was offered a room on a lower floor and the staff carried my bag to the room. They provided a map of the city and directions to local sites. The hotel really merits its inclusion in the Charming Hotels of France.
Friendly Staff.Cleanliness. Rooms weren't very big, but still fine.
lovely to be so near the sea, the hotel was beautiful and very efficiently and calmly run. The breakfast was delicious. The bedrooms were beautiful and the beds very comfortable.
nice and charming hotel
The hotel feels very cosy, the rooms are in excellent condition and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The public areas are great for relaxing. We will definitively stay there again on our next visit to Biarritz.
