Good location, walk to Boston Common and subway/bus stop nearby. Restaurant is a little pricey but food available on route to Boston Common. No views from rooms. Party venue/parking is across the street and Saturday nights from 2am to 3am is ear shattering music and party animals showing off their cars and music thumping throughout the neighborhood. Even the hospital next door had no power to quiet them down, Police presence had no effect, with their lights flashing this only added to the annoyance.
Not sure if this rests with KAYAK/Priceline who we booked through or something the hotel itself but we were sold a room that was supposed to be delisted as the A/C was out. The lady running reception offered us comped drinks at the bar but couldn’t do anything for the actual hot room. Ultimately, we had a place to sleep for the night which was important but the problem would have never happened if the room hadn’t been listed on the site as bookable.
This hotel is in need of an update. While the carpet and drapes have been updated, the wallpaper, tiles, doors, etc., look to be original. Also, this hotel is adjacent to Tufts Medical Center so you hear ambulances through out your stay. It is also across the street from some type of after-hours dance club and even tho you don't hear the music, when the club closes at 2 am, you definitely hear the rowdy, drunk patrons! Perhaps all of this noise was due to our location on the corner of a building, room 332. Regardless, I would not choose this hotel again.
Cons. One of the bedside lights was not plugged in. Had to move the bed out to diagnose and correct issue. Shower head was also terrible and too low on the wall.
Pros. Location
Cons. 45 dollars for parking? Cmon!
Pros. I love the connection the Double Tree has with the YMCA to use there gym! That is why we choose this hotel over any other! The location is great, but to be able to start the day off with working out at the YMCA makes it that much better. Please keep this partnership working.
Pros. The room service breakfast was wonderful and the hotel is nicely located a half block from a subway station.
Pros. easy check in easy check out
Cons. Great location great facility but unfortunately they advertise free parking and that’s not true I was given a bill for $106 for a two night stay for parking when the site says it’s free at least on Expedia site. When I brought it to the front desk they were at least kind enough to split it with me . Other than that absolutely gorgeous place. But parking is not free.
Pros. Great restaurant recommendation from Ryan. Very helpful front desk dude. Bar staff could learn a thing or two from him.
Cons. Being gouged by Kayak/Cancelon when the hotel was showing as fully booked. Rooms became available the next day but it was too late...non-refundable charge. Paid $100+ more than what ended up being the price I could've paid just walking in off the street. Kayak pushed the buck to Cancelon who is impossible to get in touch with. Beware
