Caen Hotels

Facilities, staff and breakfast buffet all excellent.

Initial approach to hotel by vehicle was ackward as it required us to drive down a bus/taxi only lane but once we figured that out, everything else was ease. On-site parking is available in a secure underground garage but it is limited so book ahead.

Very conveniently located and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff.

Happy that the reception staff spoke English and were helpful in booking taxis and advising re local information.

I did not like the fact that I was unable to get any food before 7 p.m. in the hotel or in fact in the town. I had been travelling all day and there was nowhere to eat anything. Even the hotel's room service was not available in the afternoon - not until 7 p.m.

The location was good, and on Sunday morning there was a market outside.

We enjoyed the evening meal in the restaurant very much and found the service to be very good.

The room did not have had tea/coffee making facilities

everything! fantastic hotel with very helpful and friendly staff, top class food in the restaurant and family friendly, basic but clean and comfortable room, would definitely come back.

Good for staying for a night. Not the worst of the Novotel hotels (comparing to Le Mans at least), but will not stay there next time. Actually do not recommend Caen at all, Rouen is much more interesting.

As an infrequent traveller to France, the helpfullness and fluency, of the recepotion staff, with the english language was a real bonus. The breakfast buffet was excellent, fresh and plentiful. The rooms were very clean and orderly and the hairdryer a plus! I would highly recommend this Campanile Hotel to my friends.

Accommodation was comfortable and clean, even if the twin room turned out to be a family double.

Due to the location of the hotel it was necessary to fully unload our car. The presence of a gypsy encampment next to the hotel was a bit unnerving.

Quiet location. Large(free) car park. Very helpful staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Easy access to Caen city centre via Twisto tram service.

No room safe/mini bar available, but these were very minor when compared to the many postive aspects of the hotel.

A great location with easy access to the Memorial Museum and the Normandy beaches. Given the reasonable price, we were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel to be so updated, clean and accommodating. The restaurant was another bonus both for breakfast and dinner.

The 'standard' room was a bit on the small side, but ok. We had enough room for the 2 of us.

Very close to the tram stop - tram goes into the city centre and you can leave the car at the car park.

Hotel returant wasn't open on the weekends and holiday so it made it hard to find a resturant for dinner.

Was accommodated in annex across road. Very modern and stylish and quiet comfortable room. Excellent restaurant with some reasonably priced dinner menus. Had several very enjoyable dinners. Central location for touring the British sector of Normandy D-Day action, and easy drive to American sector if have car.

The very modern bathroom still required standing precariously in an inadequately screened bathtub to take a shower. Difficult and dangerous for older people and end up with a very wet floor. I was told no walk-in showers. Pity!. Also found the breakfast disappointing, two petit pains and a croissant plus coffee was your allotted portion. No buffet offered.

Stayed one night only. Hotel is ideally located for the Ouistreham ferry terminal. It is a short walk away from the Pegasus Bridge and museum. Hotel is a motel style, rooms are clean.

Rooms are small and a little claustrophobic. Double bed is small by French standards. There is no courtesy tray, but there is a small ( poorly stocked) fridge. Restaurant is very expensive and out of keeping with the overall motel style accommodation. Nearest budget restaurant is at Pegasus Bridge, although hardly cheap. No bar facilities.

The room was lovely and the restaurant was amazing.

The location was a bit off the beaten path.

location of the hotel for visiting the normandy beaches which was the main purpose of our visit. Free parking on site very convenient. family room consisted of 2 rooms with interconnecting door. rooms adequate for our needs. kids delighted with free WIFI.

did not get breakfast as 7 euros per head added 35 euros to our budget. Maybe if they offered croissant and drink for 3-4 euros we would have availed of it!

One of the better hotels I have stayed in, it ticked most of the boxes. Clean,Friendly, Helpful, Location etc.

The rooms were too hot, the air conditioning unit did not work it continually blew out heat.I switched it off and slept with the window open

Proximity to the airport was important, we enjoyed the breakfast at the loby restaurant as well.

Very, very cheap feeling furniture. (The cabinet panel covering the dishwasher fell on my ankle when I tried to open it.) I'm also not a fan of bathrooms with no shower enclosure.

Friendly helpful staff, dinner at restaurant was convenient and good, checking in and out was easy.

Bathroom was small and shower awkward to use, bed covering was too heavy, to warm with it and to cool without it.

You get exactly what you pay for. Basic facilities at a reasonable cost, with an adequate breakfast.

Modern, minimalistic and urban in the otherwise romantic Caen.

The location of this hotel is very convenient. The bathroom was big, bigger than the room which seemed a bit strange.

I think the photos of the room on the Internet do not really reflect the actual quality of the rooms in general. I saw two rooms and both were much shabbier than the photographed room. There was cigarette burns in the bed cover and the bed itself needed replacing. I have stayed in other two star places on my trip and they have been much better than this for the same money. I was disappointed that the hotel information was so misleading.

I liked that I was able to come and go from Hôtel Des Quatrans even late at night. It was also nice to be able to leave my luggage in the lobby before check-in and after check-out.

It seemed like everything was just ten minutes away (which is a good thing!). There is nothing of interest around the hotel so a car is a must. The room was most definitely on the small side (not especially wheelchair- friendly), but the layout was thoughtful. They booked my party of three different rooms in the same hallway, which was very appreciated by us all. I loved the free parking.

The breakfast was not worth the price. Travelers would do better to find a bakery and eat some pastries. If you're simply looking for a place to lay your head before visiting Le Mémorial or downtown Caen, that is what you will find here. Not much incentive to "hang out" in your room, but for the price we paid, that was just fine. It was a little odd that they give you your remote control for the tv when you check in.

Free parking, that's all. Public parking in Caen Centreville can be difficult to find, especially on Sunday when they close down at 1pm.

They overcharged me for the first night. They did not honor Booking.com rates. No hair dryer.

The hotel is immaculate. The proprietor, Mr. Regis is very nice. The room was very quiet and the wifi worked well. He operates a bar/cafe on the premises as well.

There is no elevator but the proprietor carried my large suitcase upstairs for me.

The front desk young man was helpful, polite, and kind. he worked every day I was there so he recognized me and always said hello as I entered or left the hotel.

My room air conditioner was broken.

A clean, pleasant and very conveniently located hotel close to the railway station, car rental offices, and short walk to town centre.

As I said above, the staff were friendly and efficient but I drove past the hotel at first because the place is so dark and not very welcoming. The twin room and toilet on the 2nd floor smelt and felt damp and the bathroom was bit of an afterthought. This hotel needs some money spending on it to bring it into the 20th century let alone the 21st. If the wife had been with me I would have left and gone somwhere else. Also, at e50 per night it is very expensive for a single traveller and e7 for a bread and jam breakfast is over the top. However, in it's favour a lot of the other hotels in the area don't look any better. My room overlooking the port unfortunately meant I was kept awake half the night by singing drunks and fat girls standing in the road trying to do a belly dance. Gruesome. Thought I was back in Hull. Sorry, and it's no reflection on the staff but I won't be going back.

Location was fantastic, walk to sights and restaurants, parking avaliable opposite hotel. Lovely Port view.
