The car was nasty. It smelled like an ashtray even though there are "no smoking" signs in the car. There were two cigarette butts in the floorboard so I know they did not vacuum the vehicle and I had to stop and get glass cleaner so my wife could see out of her side of the windshield.Hertz

Hertz customer service is horrible. I had a flat on the morning after I picked the car up. No biggie, I had it changed. I found a dent within anhour of picking up car so I called and left a message. No return phone call. I had a brake light go out on Wednesday - went to Hertz; no exchange; sent me to a Firestone to have it fixed. Within 24 hours, it was out again. I sent email complaint to Hertz on 6/26. Still haven't heard from them. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again!2.0 Poor

Pick-up was not knowledgable of my purchase and tried to sell me insurance I already had, saying the same insurance bought from them at a higher price was better. Plus, did not know I had put a credit card on the account, even when it was on the paperwork.Budget

Pick up location was closed and I was not notified. Large SUV was not available and a mini van was a suggested replacement. A mini van is not a large suv and if I'd wanted a mini van I'd have reserved one7.2 Good

I didn't like that the amount of the rental was paid at pick-up. I was in a situation where initially, when I made the reservation, it looked like I might need an extra day for the rental. It turns out I didn't. I was charged for the extra day anyway and misinformed at pickup that payment was due at2.0 Poor

The minivan I reserved for our family trip in Canton, GA was not available when I went to pick it up. They said they had been trying to call me all day which was not true. I received one phone call while in a meeting and no voicemail was left. Not recognizing the number I didn't try to return the call. When I arrived the manager showed me what he had available, none of which were any bigger than the vehicle we already own. By this time it was too late to find an alternative, so we had to reduce our luggage and sit in an uncomfortable cramped car of our own instead of enjoying the space that would've been afforded by a minivan. I then phoned Budget national to register my complaint and I got nothing but a cliched apology with no offer to do anything about it.10.0 Wonderful
