What are the pros of staying at Balcones de Venecia?

The staff is extremely kind, helpful, and friendly. The location is very central, at the core of the colorful barrio. The place was very clean. The staff were super helpful and friendly and every day gave us fresh juice and cake after our daily activities. The people working at the hotel were so lovely and helpful. Amazing location, great balcony. The hotel was very homey; I felt safe there. The A/C was awesome.

What are the cons of staying at Balcones de Venecia?

The room was very little, with basically no window and it would require renovation. Overpriced. It was tricky finding places to put our belongings. There were some cubby holes for storage, but they were small and a little awkward to use. A dresser would be a nice addition. There was NO WHERE in the bathroom to put anything. A shelf would be so helpful. Although we saw the room being cleaned, it has not been deep cleaned in forever. The floors felt dirty and looked really dirty. The housekeeper kept leaving the balcony door unlocked. It was VERY loud at night. The room and bathroom was a bit small, but plenty of space to stow away all your luggage/items. Most days we didn’t get hot water for showers. But it was so hot that it didn’t really matter. The step in the bathroom was a little hazardous and there is noise every morning from before 7 am from the staff of the restaurant below, lots of shouting and clanking sounds so hard to sleep in. There didn’t seem to be any proper communal spaces, so it’s not brilliant to meet other people. No hot water but it was okay because of how hot it was in Cartagena! We had a lot of mosquitos in our room. We had a power outage for a whole day. The staff did not care and refused to communicate. Even after asking multiple times, typing on the smartphone was more important. The light in the bathroom is controlled by motion sensor. Every 2 minutes you have to dance to keep the light on...well great to practice some salsa I guess? The room was too small space in the quadruple room. The safe did not work, the pictures of the bedroom and the balcony are better than the reality, the bathroom did not have any windows or ventilation. Not much. Please clean up drains under the shower :(

What are the highlights of the hotel's location?

Excellent location in the heart of Getsemaní. The place was clean and the personal is kind. The location was the only redeeming factor. But there are many better options in the same area. Located toward the end of the street, the location was excellent-- close enough to walk to the party streets and the walled city without being in the middle of all the craziness. Perfect location in the heart of Getsemani. Great location and nice staff. The staff was very kind and was always willing to help. The street had a lot of pubs, yet the bedroom was not noisy. Property was conveniently located in the heart of Getsemaní. It was in the perfect spot.

What are the unique offerings of the hotel?

The staff were really friendly and kind. They were willing to give us some breakfast (even after their hours) because we had woken up later. Their breakfast option was also yummy and affordable! The bed and room was super comfortable with great AC. At the end of our trip, they even gave us souvenirs. The balcony was a plus. The rooms were super nice and really calm regarding the location. Our room had AC, which is a must in Cartagena! The hotel's location and balconies are beautiful. The A/C worked great. The balcony was a plus. Great value for money, especially in this location. Comfy rooms. Reception staff is amazing. Location as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was air conditioned and clean.

What practical information should visitors know about the hotel?

The hotel is well located, with many really good restaurants nearby. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and the hotel is immaculately clean. The rooms were clean and the location was great. It was a busy street but fun to be in the middle of the Getsemani neighborhood. The staff was wonderful, especially the manager Ruth. The rooms were clean and the location was great.
