Pros: I liked the car we got and how the person who helped me was so friendly.
Cons: Didn't like the long wait to pickup my car and to drop it off.

Hapless Support During Their Mistake
Pros: Car was clean.
Cons: Hertz had our reservation at the wrong place location. They then suggested I take a cab and leave my family at the airport for 2 hours while I go get it at the other location. I made the switch to the airport location, but for that "convenience" I was charged the higher rate that the airport required. (Note that they admitted this was still their fault).
I spent about an hour and a half calling Hertz because the counter couldn't help due to our having rented through Kayak. But, after going through the phone menu maze and finally getting ahold of someone, they had to transfer me and, in doing so, hung up on me. This happened SIX times in a row. The last three times, I even told them that I keep getting hung up on during the transfer, but it still happened.
Finally, we had a full size car reserved and they attempted to give us a Nissan Sentra, then looked surprised when I asked if they thought that was a full size car. After the "supervisor" looked into it, we got a full size car.
For perspective, this was occasion was actually us giving Hertz a second chance after the first time using them was slightly worse than this. Needless to say we will not be using Hertz ever again.

Pros: We needed to swap our rental for another one when the tire blew out one hour into our 2,000 mile road trip. The people at the airport were friendly and wanted to give us a credit for the tire incident taking 4 hours of our time, but couldn't because we didn't pick up the original rental from them. They said the location we picked up from would need to give us the credit when we brought the car back to them. Talked to them about it when we brought the car back and it was like pulling teeth to get them to agree to a credit and it was not as much as the other location was going to give us!! Almost made it seem like it was our fault the tire blew out!!
Cons: Picking up and dropping off takes FOREVER!!! Also failed to mention that we would have to pay extra for my husband to drive the vehicle until we had already paid to rent the car (even after I called and asked about who needed to pick up the car).

Pros: Drop off was nice. Just drop my keys in the lockbox and go. No need to talk to anyone and no chance to be mistreated.
Cons: When I was picking up my car, a gold club member walked in, bare footed. But he was treated like a king and I was suddenly a peon. I was handed off to someone else to finish my transaction. And while we were outside inspecting the car, the first assistant deleted my transaction out of the computer so he could continue with the bare footed king. My assistant had to start all over. I've haven't been treated that badly in years.
