Make your booking but ask when they will be there for dropoff at Loreto airport, they won't charge you if it's later but no fun hanging around if no one can receive the car. Or check flight arrivals because that's when they show up. Insurance is NOT required as the basic insurance required by the Mexican government (rdw) is included in your rental. I opted for total coverage in case of damage to the windscreen/tires from the rough roads.

Liked getting a relatively new car. Had to wait VERY long time in line at pickup. Only one agent, and a very slow process for completing the paperwork. Also there was no staff at the airport until about 45 minutes before my flight boarded. Need to have staff there a couple hours before departure. The pick up process was very slow. Service was good, but slow. As the rental car companies get busy when your flight comes in, they are often not that well staffed. Drop off was excellent. Car was fine.

Price of insurance was very suspicious. I was initially quoted an unreasonable amount I couldn't afford ($1062), and then the priced dropped substantially (to $697, which is still much more than anticipated) when it became apparent that I was going to be forced to cancel the rental. Additionally, there was nobody at the rental counter when I showed up at the time indicated on my reservation, so I had to wait for roughly 30 minutes before the lengthy check out process even began. It would behoove Hertz to have pre-established insurance prices, regardless of the foreign destination to avoid local price gouging.

Car had plenty of trunk space but car itself was smaller than expected, tiny wheels which was a challenge with speed bumps in the area. Paid more than quoted due to conversion from MXD to USD. Almost wish quote was in MXD. Time at the counter to complete rental was longer than most places.

The Kayak quote was $178, but when I went to pick up the car it was $528. And they put a $1,000 hold on my credit card while I had the car. When I got to the airport at noon on Saturday to return the car, there wasn’t any Europcar employees at the airport to process the return. They were all at a different Europcar location and I waited 35 minutes for drive to get to the airport to check me in. If I had gotten to the airport any later I would have missed my flight due to the rental car return process.

I was surprised at the amount of required Mexican insurance that wasn't included in the price of the car when I made the reservation on line. When I picked up the car, they said it was a third-party transaction and that's why the costs were different. Live and learn!!

Insurance costs should be presented honestly, up-front at time of on-line rental booking. Kayak confirmed price of $10/day for the rental car and mentioned no additional fees for taxes or insurance. Once we arrived to the rental car counter we were told the insurance costs were an added $50/day (Five times the cost of the rental agreement price). Bait and switch! Kayak must do their homework on this false advertising.

Great service from Alamo, Mexico in both Loreto collecting car and La Paz where I returned it. Rental was a large SUV (VW Touran) in good condition and comfortable for 4 adults and luggage. English speaking representatives. Very polite and helpful. Explained everything about the rental including insurance and charges fully. My only suggestion for improvement would be to do "Full to Full" on fuel rather than picking it up with 3/4 of a tank and trying to return with same. But that aside, I'd recommend and use them again.

Our flight was delayed by 1 hour and we arrived 4:30 MST. Nobody from Alamo was present at the airport, all taxis were gone, phones would not work etc. We had to rent a car from Hertz that cost us more for 2 days than our entire weeklong reservation through Kayak.

I'm not sure this place or this company exists. I called several numbers in an effort to confirm our reservation: all the numbers provided by Kayak, all the numbers on the Firefly website, and the resort where this location allegedly was located. They were either wrong numbers, didn't go through, or no one had heard of the place. I ended up canceling 2 days before pick up.

Very disappointed. Do not try this company. They do not respect the online reservation even though you pay full coverage they asked for more. Even the silly down-payment of $5000 usd. You read well. Hilarious. Other company just asked for a guarantee of $70 usd. And the stupid agent asked me if my husband was going to drive the car, because I'm a lady and they have to charge some extra guarantee. And he laughed. What a retarded man. Obviously I went to contract with another company. Much better.
