Cons: The man at the drop off was so rude it made the whole experience horrible and I would never use dollar again. When we asked him which direction to get to the terminal he told us it's not his responsibility if we are too stupid to read the signs. His name was Marc or so he told me and I took a pic of him so I could complain.

Easy and quick
Pros: I came at a calm time. Hardly any wait. Was able to check in at the counter and walk out and pick up my car quickly. Returning was easy. Dollar is in the terminal so no shuttle required! There is a good amount of walking though, so if you're a large family with lots of kids and luggage (or someone that can't walk very far) I had my husband go get the car and we waited at the curb.

Dollar rent a car is good until for some reason you have to call customer support. The customer support is very poor and un informed. They don't even have a way of contacting the local branch.

Pros: When I returned the car, I forgot to fill it. So they did let me leave to fill it and didn't mark me as returning the car late.
Cons: They charged me more than my initial quote. The attendant at front counter hardly spoke English. And I had to walk about a half mile from the counter to the key pick up to get the car, with all our luggage. the car wasn't in very good shape either.

Reservation but no car
Cons: Reserved car at one price. Told they had no vehicles at all. Ended up waiting half hour and paying eighty percent more for an upgraded vehicle.

Was cheated when picking up the car
Pros: I ended up with a fine car after paying an upgrade fee in order to get the car I had originally booked
Cons: Rude and unfair person at the rental counter. His name is Mo at the Orange County airport. I had booked an intermediate size car and was offered a Nissan Versa hatchback. I don't know if you've ever seen one of these, but they are definitely NOT mid size. I told Mo that he was not offering me a fair deal, but he wouldn't listen. I ended up paying an unexpected upgrade fee to get a car that would fit my family. After subsequent communication with Dollar customer service, I confirm that the Nissan Versa is considered a Compact (not a mid-size) car.
Pros: Easy access to airport snd very nice personnel at check-out.

Is the car or the rental company?
Pros: The price.
Cons: It could be the car itself that made me feel the rental was "okay". It was a 2015 Toyota Yaris and anytime I went over 45 mph (even on sidestreets) it felt like the car was going to break down. Engine was loud and not in a good way. It also took forever for the arrow in the gas gauge to show it was full after I filled up. Interesting for a slightly new car. The pick up procedure was different from other car rental companies. No one checked out the car for scratches/dents before I left with it. So it made me nervous that they could've blamed me for things that might have already been there.

Pros: Drop off was quick and simple.
Cons: Pick up turned out to NOT be in the airport, though web site indicated it was. Left standing for ~20 minutes in sun waiting for shuttle. And then of course there was the off-property ride to go pick up the car. Inside of windows were (hazy)not clean. Engine light was on the whole time.

Pros: Good price. Easy access.
Cons: even though there was only one person in front of me in each of the 2 lines, it look me quite a long time to get serviced. There should be a pre-paid line for people who just has to pickup a key.
Pros: booked a car at Enterprise out of John Wayne airport , when we arrive we were told that our Enterprise office was closed at 6pm, and that we needed to book another car at a different Enterprise open office , that ended up costing over 100$ more
Pros: The price, eventually, was good. It fortunately ended up being the same price in my reservation.
Cons: When I arrived, it was not clear where to go, or that the company was even there. No employee was in the office, but there was another customer. When the employee did arrive 10 minutes later, she took another customer who arrived with her, but supposedly was there first. She helped him, and then assisted the man ahead of me. When he declined insurance, the employee stated that he needed to provide his insurance policy number. That made me leery, and i asked if that was only because he was using a debit card. She said I would have to provide the name of my insurance company. In the 10 years I've rented cars, dozens of times, that has never happened to me. I finally was assisted, and walked to my vehicle after I had been there (at Irvine, California) for 40 minutes. On the walk-around, I noticed several scrapes and paint drips. Why? The car had been in an accident and repainted. The car drove poorly, shuddering occasionally and locking up/having trouble with traction when going from a stop. The whole reason of renting a car was to have a functional vehicle while mine was in the shop. It didn't feel very safe, and I drove it very little, putting off a trip to LA to visit family. On the return, I was told by the same enployee that it would have to wait while she drove the previous customer back to the airport. I told her I didn't have time for that, and she said she could email me my receipt. It was a bit disconcerting waiting the two hours for the email, but it was correct, fortunately.
