Pros: Initially the vehicle was great but the maintenance and oil change light came on.Cons: Vehicle maintenance been up to date, I tried to contact roadside assistance and was on hold for a half hour. I got different answers from everyone I talked to.

Cons: I reserved my car over a month in advance and was called the day before my arrival to Saint Louis airport. They stated they could not pick me up and I had to start a new reservation. The price increased dramatically (from $250 to $550) for the same time period. I called customer service and they could do nothing for me. I was forced to cancel my reservation with them and decided to go to their competitor which was Hertz. I paid $30 less but had somewhat better service.

Cons: When I picked up my car it had a terrible body odor. It smelled like a high school locker room, and no matter what I did, the smell persisted—it was deep within the linen of the car seats. Opening windows in an attempt to air the car out did nothing. I bought febreeze and sprayed the upholstery of the entire car TWICE. I even bought fragrance sticks to put in the air vents. Nothing worked, and after having the car for almost a week, the smell was still there when I returned it. Also, when I got the car it wasn’t at a full tank. I was given a rental that only had 1/4 tank of gas in it.
Cons: Line was horrible and staff was not friendly or trying to expedite customer thru the line

Pros: Pickup took nearly an hour. Dropoff was not properly credited and I was initially charged $600 extra for taking the car to new jersey. Which was interesting since i dropped the car off at midway in chicago and flew to california.Cons: Pick-up was painfully slow. Car had lingering smoke odor. Drop-off was handled poorly. So, pretty much everything could have been handled better.

Pros: Our Chrysler Pacifica was top of the line. It has every bell and whistle and was perfect for our trip out West. It was a nice surprise to have such luxury at the standard minivan price.Cons: The van was not totally clean when we got it, with a water bottle left in it, a smear of something on the steering wheel, etc. It didn’t inspire trust that it had been cleaned very well. We waited forever in line to pick it up due to having few customer service representatives, so that was frustrating. Our check-in went quickly, though.

Pros: We rented a cargo van, so the space was nice and the seats were super comfortable.Cons: Where to start? Van pickup-Van was dirty, there was writing on the driver's side window, and it only had 1/4 tank of gas. Total trip was 24 hours, van overheated 5 hours into trip. Coolant reservoir was empty so had to replace with 8 personal water bottles until we could get antifreeze. Called Hertz-could only get automated responses saying that it was upwards of 75 minutes to connect with an agent. Started texting and was told to drop off at nearest location, however, would not provide us with nearest location. Got antifreeze and refilled the reservoir which was empty again. Limped to destination for the night. Still not able to contact anyone from Hertz. Next morning, check the antifreeze and looked like it was holding. Drove 30 minutes, stopped to get gas and noticed fluids were leaking from the van. Again, called Hertz and nothing. Looked up the nearest Hertz, drove there only to find they were closed on Sundays. Find another Hertz, drove there only to find that location was closed permanently. Went into Budget (which was nearby to were Hertz was supposed to be) to see if we could rent something but they didn't provide one way rentals-at least we were able to talk with a real person. Budget told us to talk with Avis, which was located in the airport where Hertz was supposed to be. Walked into Avis and talked with Avis and Enterprise, who were both sold out. Told them our story about not being able to get in contact with anyone from Hertz-"no wonder they are going out of business". Avis & Enterprise, told us to take it to get fixed and gave us the name and address of repair shop. Took it to repair shop which fortunately was open on Sunday morning. Repair shop fixed a hose pipe that had come undone, and four hours later we were on our way. Had Hertz done an initial check of the van-they may have noticed something was amiss but my guess is their incompetence was the problem. Still no call or text to make sure we were alright, But it doesn't end there-time to take the van back. Our contract showed the address to drop off the van, and when we get there-there is not a Hertz in sight. Luckily, a security guard was able to point us in the right direction. We dropped off the car and were told to leave the keys in the car but never asked about our experience. Bottom line: we will never, ever, ever rent from Hertz again. It was the worst rental experience we have ever had. As Avis, Enterprise, Budget, and the repair guy said-"no wonder they are going out of business". They left us stranded and if it weren't for the fact my husband knows a little about cars, we could have been in real trouble. Thanks for nothing Hertz-no wonder you are going out of biusiness!

Pros: The staff was helpful but hurried. The car was really inexpensive, which was why I went with Hertz for the first time.Cons: The car was somewhat vacuumed on the inside, quite dirty on the outside, with leaves sticking out from under the hood. It was Christmas Eve and they wanted to close early, so they rushed the car up and didn't check it over for scratches or properly record the gas tank level. It was full, but the paperwork said 2/8. Even though it was the end of December, the windshield washer fluid was the summer kind, so it made a useless blue slushy on my windshield. It was almost due for an oil change when I started out. The last day, the cruise control died, the check engine light came on, and it started shaking all over. It was a new Malibu, so I don't know what was with that. Other than that, the car ran well.
Unexpected SurprisePros: The type of vehicle available...Chevy Impala Premiere...loved it.

Overall Very GoodPros: Pick up & Drop off was as near perfect as possible.Cons: I was not thrilled with the vehicle but that was NOT Alamo's fault. It was the make and model of the pickup. (I would not buy this truck). I think the exit of lot could be marked better but it was not horrible.

The experience with Alamo was very nice as they got me in and out quickly which I cannot say enough positive things about given I was lugging a baby, car seat, pack n' play, backpack, and diaper bag all by myself.Cons: Nothing really. GPS built-in would have been nice but my smartphone wedged near the dash did the trick.

I don't believe that she was being racist. But she was a bit uncouth. Then I had to walk across the parking lot in the blistering wind to select my car. Fix how customers receive their cars immediately. I waited 15 to get my car. Drop off location was a bit confusing to find the exact location to drop off car.

They truly tried .Pros: We came in on Christmas Day and there was a shortage of cars with flights delayed and rerouted passengers. So their systems were skewed with last minute changes. They worked so hard and were honestly trying to do their best to please so many frustrated customers. We appreciated their efforts through the hectic process and pleased that they were able to provide a car for us through all their confusion.
Pros: The pick up was fine but when I returned the vehicle Dollar charged me double!Cons: You could help by getting them to honor their original quote. If I get no help from you, I'll never use your service again.

Gas tank was not full, probably 3/4. When I returned it, the drop-off guy asked if I had any proof. Really, I have to prove it to you. Was I supposed to pull off on the freeway in heavy traffic and take a picture. Why couldn't he have told me how sorry he was instead of questioning my integrity. I wasn't asking for anything. 3. Car was supposed to be non-smoking but clearly had been smoked in. My wife even found a cigarette lighter under the seat. Told drop-off guy and he didn't care or make a note of it. If you rent a car upon your arrival, you can conveniently discover everything St. Louis has to offer from museums, to the Botanical Garden, to the Mississippi River. Rent a car as soon as you land in Missouri and cruise through the city and adjoining areas, like the Mark Twain National Forest, which is located about 1 hour and 20 minutes by car from St. Louis.
Get a rental car upon landing at Lambert International Airport to be in the city in under half an hour. Service desks are located on the lower level of Terminal 1 and shuttle buses bring travelers to the pick-up locations of the cars. Companies include Avis, Alamo, and National. The I-70 E will bring drivers quickly and conveniently to St. Louis and many places of interest like the Busch Stadium, the City Museum, or, of course, your hotel.
St. Louisans have a reputation for not adhering to street regulations like turn signals or yielding, so double check before entering a roundabout or intersection -- especially since drivers here are also known to sometimes run a red light when it has just switched from green. Driving defensively will definitely help and, when adhering to speed limits and paying extra attention, drivers should face no problems.
Winters can bring rain and snow to St. Louis and road conditions are not ideal in the city when the cold weather hits, so make sure the rental car is properly equipped. Adapting speed when it snows or rains is pivotal, and, if possible, driving should be avoided altogether when the weather conditions get too severe. Also note that in St. Louis each district has its own methods to deal with the snow, meaning some roads may be salted while others may be plowed, making the streets narrower.

Generally, 20-25 mph is permitted in school zones and residential areas, unless otherwise indicated. 60 mph is allowed on urban interstates and highways, whereas rural freeways allow drivers to speed up to 70 mph. As usual, posted signs should be followed and speed adapted to road and weather conditions.
