We waited over 2.5 hours to receive our rental. Management provided wait times that were not accurate: first we were told one hour, then 1.5 hours, the 2 hours ect. It was finally 2 hours 45 mins later that we received the rental. We were also told that they were extremely understaffed and dealing with operational problems. We have two young kids under the age of 5 so you can imagine how upsetting this was not to mention how it created an unpleasant start to our vacation. To pay a premium for a rental, I expect better service and lower wait times.

I called several times to arrange an airport drop off (unbeknownst to me booking was for a remote location drop-off) but was told it was not possible. Upon bringing car back to remote location (cutting into vacation time) I was told it would be better to return it to the airport which I ended up doing the following day. Get it together!!! Grrrrrr.

We were given a free upgrade to an EV. Unfortunately, there were several EV related charges added to my bill. Very difficult to contact Hertz. They only want online messages sent. I did that on Monday and have not heard back yet, while the amount was, of course, already charged to my credit card.

We waited in a freezing parking garage for the one attendant 30 minutes before he showed up. Long line of people behind us too. I ordered an SUV but was given a 2 wheel drive hatchback and they didn't have any 4WDs at any price. Drove to the ski resort despite my better judgement and somehow lived to tell the tale.

Pick up was good, price is reasonable. Drop off took more than 60mins as i had to wait, only one representative for rentals. Was a busy day but took me less than 5 mins after finally talking to a representative.

They tried to give us a vehicle that was smaller than what we requested for the same rate. Then they gave us a vehicle that didn’t hold the amount of luggage that was advertised. We had to put luggage on some of the seats and in between the front seat and next row of seats.

Took almost 1 hour to pick up our car at the counter. Toddler seat didn't come with instructions on how to put in the car. Drop off procedure was a tad problematic: a) too far from main terminal leave a lot of time to catch the shuttle bus to main terminal and b) Drop off box location not clearly stated inside the terminal- had to ask for help.

When I returned the car, I was given a receipt which showed that I owed CAD 477.99 From looking at the charges, it states that I had a prepayment voucher for CAD 1496.25 This was never discussed with me - in fact the rental agreement has this amount of 477.99 scribbled out by the AVIS service person So I was indeed surprised to find that on returning the car, I was charged this amount. I could submit the rental agreement form with the alteration (if required) Kevin Walsh

Supplier choice

Make sure to take pictures of the vehicle, any noticeable damage before you even drive it. Then provide those photos whenever you drop it off. There was damage on my vehicle if I did not document them I would have been charged for it. Other than that, everything was good.

Cons:

There wasn't an opportunity to mark down if the car had scratches or damage when you picked it up.

I wanted to make an adjustment to my pick up time at Vancouver but as I had booked through an agent I could not get Thrifty recognise my booking either by phone or through the web portal. Very frustrating nit to be able to talk to a human and explain my situation.

I wouldn't say it was fantastic, hate it when they try to sell you extra insurance. When you already have it. Ordered a wildcard for 2 large cases they said I didn't. Hidden costs I proberly got charged for that I don't know of.

My wife broke her wrist enroute to Canada requiring surgery in Fiji. At pick up I asked Dollar to change name of driver to mine. They said that the booking agent would not pay them if they didn't charge me NZD289 as an additional driver. In the circumstances I thought this totally unreasonable.

When we arrived the car ready for us was a 5-passenger, not a 7 as we had reserved. After some discussion, an 8-passenger car was made available at the agreed-upon rate, but we had to wait 30 minutes while it was prepared. That car was still not really clean, especially the inside of the windshield. The tires were also way over-inflated. It proved to be a good vehicle over the two weeks we had it. The staff at the location were courteous and freindly, if a little disorganized.

I’m waiting on a refund. The rental service was sold and could not be delivered. Due to location being closed at time of pick up and no cars available to rent. The service was undeliverable. Luckily I discovered this via phone conversation with the rental company before wasting my time looking for the rental office. Always call ahead to confirm purchase. Ultimately, I can’t give any advice on other aspects of the rental experience because it was not an available or completed transaction. So far, customer service to resolve this issue has been excellent.

Pros:

When we got to the rental office, they took our information and told us they were taking us to our car. They did not have a car for us, but instead referred our reservation to another company without telling us. We were then given a smaller vehicle for our group which we had TO PAY AGAIN FOR AND FOR MORE MONEY!! We were squeezed into the smaller SUV. This smelled like a bait and switch operation. As we were returning our car, I overheard another man having the same conversation I had a week earlier. NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

Getting and dropping off the car was easy. Everything related to the car went well. Customer service could be improved. Staff seemed shy and could work on welcoming guests a little better. It would be nice to feel that we’re being taken care of when we arrive rather than have to remind the staff that we’re waiting for our car. However, I recommend the place.

First of all, we reserved our car for pick up at 10 am. We arrived at 12 and the car was not ready. 10 min they said. We had to wait 2 hours and they came with an old car from 10 years old instead of the one we orded. The Windows where stuck. The central locking was not working, and de seats were itchy. So we do not recommend this company and are not happy.
