Sales Person will Lie to Upsale
Pros: The car was very clean.
Cons: The person who checked us in told us the roads were bad and we had to have a 4X4 so we had to pay for an upgrade. Once we got where we were going, the roads were completely clear and we realized the sales person had lied to us in order to get us to purchase an upgrade.

A good deal
Pros: Easy booking process, shortest pickup and drop off I've ever had: No line, CSR didn't try to upsell and had the paperwork and keys to me in just over 5 minutes, return was maybe 3 minutes. Car was a compact with heated seats and the reversing camera which was useful backing into some tiny spots. Very clean inside. Handling was adequate.
Cons: Minor gripes, but couldn't find the controls for the heated chairs which got way too hot, and the bluetooth system is Apple-compatible only. CSR could have been a little friendlier, but I appreciate her expediency.

Check your receipt beware of sleezy sales tricks!
Cons: Credit card covers insurance so I never purchase it. Sales agent verbally acknowledged that I declined insurance but added it on anyway! These people make commission on add on like insurance and upgrades. Criminal that they add it on without your consent!

Compact in Vancouver
Pros: I was apprehensive after booking to find soooo many really bad reviews of this particular Vancouver Airport rental outlet. I even sent an email to Budget asking for reassurance that their franchise could be trusted. (Never answered). Although the agent tried a couple upsale ploys (4 wheel drive, insurance, gas, etc.) the rental was otherwise uneventful.
Cons: Upsale ploys and very bad reviews had me worried. I photographed every aspect of the car and gas gauge, mileage as defense. Should not be necessary.

Cons: When we picked up car they told us to have it aback by 12 noon and we had it back by 11:30 the Person that received the car said OH no you were suppost to have it back by 10 am and they charged us for another day, That was not suppost to be SO I was upset with that

Take it or Leave It. Poor Service.
Pros: The car was clean.
Cons: I booked Toyota Camry but given chevy impala. When ask for Camry the agent said take it or leave it. It was very unpleasant experiace when landed at 11:30 pm with 2year old and tired.

Nice car, quick service but not sure the upgrade w
Pros: Speediness of pickup and drop off. Staff was professional. The car was very comfortable and clean.
Cons: Up sell pitch. I didn't want to upgrade the car but hubby did and since I was up at 3am that day, I caved. The car was nice but didn't think it was worth the price considering we just drove it to Whister from Vancouver and back.

If I could zero stars I would
Cons: First of all to rent out of that airport is awful.. If anything goes wrong with the car which it did, you have no one to get a hold of. There is no direct line to that location so you cannot speak to a manger. Then when you call the customer service they say they cannot help you and you have to deal with the manager at that location.. Where to start. the guy who checked me in was super rude when I declined his upgrade. He didnt give me a contract copy. I ordered and paid for a full size, they gave me a mid size. Which i found out after I had left the lot. They told me I could keep the car at the same rate longer than I had ordered it for. Then when I kept the car they tried to double the rate. Could never get in touch with anyone to discuss this. Worst experience ever and poorly run. Will never ever use Budget again. I will highly recommend anyone I know to stay away as well.

Great car / Bad service
Pros: The car was great. Easy to drive and the perfect size.
Cons: VERY strange experience with the customer service at the rental counter. Firstly, there was a graffiti swastika immediately visible on the clerk's side of the counter on a stack of notecards. Then, the clerk was extremely rude and bullish trying to up sell me on additional features I didn't need and giving me an inaccurate weather report. Finally, the car took nearly 30 minutes to arrive after completing the booking.

Pros: everything was great they treated me awesome and actually gave me a new 4 door Volvo so was good in the snow
Cons: did not have a snow scraper in the vehicle. was difficult as was a ton of snow in Vancouver

Cons: When I arrive the total price was totally different from the shown on the website. I know that the daily rental is that price, but all that matters for the consumers is the real final price, and when I arrived there, without any extra, the price was almost $100 CAD. Terrible experience. I commute for 40 minutes to get the car and left without it.

Fast drop off, slow pick up.
Pros: The car was clean and in perfect condition. Drop off was also fast and convenient.
Cons: We had to wait at pick up as there were 2 agents working on complex issues with other customers.

Pros: Car was ok
Cons: The wanted to sell extra insurances and insisted that the "correct" Price is 440$ and not what I remembered from the Internet (ca. 160$). Once I got it confirmed from the interent I had to o back and battle for this Price - again the Agent claimed that 160$ is without insurance (it excluded only windshield and car damage). After this battle I got out of the Office at about 10.10 am and retunred the car a few days later before 10 am - but without notice I got an extra Charge of 45$ for late return- after another battle they corrected for that. In the future we try to omit Budget.

Great service and value
Pros: They upgraded me to an all wheel drive BMW SUV for very little money. The car was ideal in the snowy conditions for our ski trip. Very friendly efficient service.

Wasted an hour on the up-sell, and ultimately foun
Pros: The Ford expedition was great for driving up to Whistler with 2 kids and 3 adults
Cons: The front desk experience to start was 45 minutes too long as we were lectured on each possible way to upgrade our rental that we had already spent time researching. Upon return, we saw a "Location Recovery fee" for $100 that was neither mentioned initially nor did it make any sense, we dropped off literally feet away from where we pick up the vehicle.

Wouldn't honor reservation because system "shut do
Pros: Good price on a car I wanted.
Cons: Wouldn't rent me the car at all. Had to go to competitor at a higher rate, when I could have just booked the competitor to begin with as the rates weren't that different at the time of reservation. If you have just a few dollars difference, don't mess around with the chance that this archaic system used by Budget is not available, and you just have a couple clerks sitting around taking drop-offs, and telling you they won't give you a car, tough luck, go next door.

Pros: The rental company had a policy that they charged you an additional $50 per day for snow tires. That seems like highway robbery for something that is LEGALLY required to drive on roads. Rental agencies need to re-evaluate this fee as your only option that they provide is to get a ticket from the rcmp for not having snowtires or pay up, making me an ice hostage to their policies

Cons: Guy tried to upsell us (without being upfront about it) to a car 3x the amount we booked online. Felt like he was trying to pull a fast one. Definitely be careful of what you agree to at the counter!

No one home
Pros: Our flight was delayed by about 50 minutes and Budget had sent its crew home by the time we got to the counter. I was forced to rent from Avis on the spot, for about 3x the price.

Cheap but poor advise by counter staff
Pros: Car was cheap and ran fine
Cons: Counter staff said it would be suitable for snowy conditions, however it was not and I ended up having to abandon it after it got stuck

The name says it all
Pros: Clean newer model sedan
Cons: The pick up and drop off experience. Pick up took a long time and drop off the agent at Budget went over the car with a fine toothed comb. I've probably rented a total of 80 times and this was the first inspection on drop off that took forever.

Way expensive charge when you get to the counter
Cons: I originally quoted $120 online, and I understand they will add insurance etc to the total when I arrive at the counter, and when they calculate the fees up, the total comes up to $700+, they added way too much unneccesary stuff in to your policy without asking you, if you don't ask, you will be screwed. Please be careful if you have to choose them, don't let them charge you more than what you need.

Honda Rental- Vancouver, B.C.
Pros: The car rental was large enough for 3 people's luggage and was comfortable. The back camera and winter tires were very helpful while driving in the snow. The drop off at the airport was very quick and easy, especially when it wasn't during business hours.
Cons: The cost of the winter tires was pretty pricey but it was definitely needed.

Not clear cost
Cons: Our flight was delayed and hertz closed for the night. Had to go back next morning. I unexpectedly got changed $20 extra for airport location when I thought that's where I was picking it up from and was quoted for.

Do NOT prepay gas!
Pros: Car was clean, ran well & was a pleasure to drive.
Cons: RIPPED OFF!!! I was told if I choose to prepay the gas I would be credited for anything in the tank when I returned it. NOT SO. The tank was over half full when I returned the car but I was charged for a FULL tank of gas with NO discount for the 'over half' that was in the tank.

Cons: So I got to the counter to pick up the car and they increase the rate times two. I told them that was not what was originally agreed. So I told them no sorry and walked to ALAMO. Stupid company

Thank god it wasn't winter
Pros: I liked that the car turned on.
Cons: After getting over lions gate bridge and trying to clean my windows from the insane amount of bugs, I realized no washer fluid was coming out anymore. After further inspection it seems budget decided not to fill up the washer fluid container. I can only imagine how dangerous it would've been if there was salt on the roads and snow.

Everything great except check-out
Pros: car was everything we needed and most of the rental process went smoothly, especially the call center people we talked to.
Cons: Terrible clerk at YVR facility. Couldn't apply corporate discount, gave vague reasons as to why. Had to make separate reservation with discount applied, and return car next day to take advantage of discount. Probably more of a Kayak problem, but also a rude clerk.

Cons: Long, slow line to pick up car. They are not up front on the final costs. My final bill was a lot more than was advertised

I learned about Apple Carplay
Pros: It took me a day to figure out, but one of the buttons opened a secret compartment that lets you plugin your iPhone. Once attached, CarPlay pops up and you can use your iPhone's music, maps, phone features. The Apple Maps is much better than any GPS you might be able to rent, it's free (with your phone and data service). No need to sync up your phone and expose all your contacts to the next renter. Unplug and your contacts are removed from the car. The car itself, Chevy Impala, was a delight to drive.

GREAT except for the rental counter employee
Pros: the car...Fantastic The pickup person on the lot The drop off guys...great
Cons: The counter person at the Airport Tried to scare tactic us into further insurance.....using anectdotal references. ie. " The last one was total nightmre..the guy had to pay $75 000 out of pocket. Cars get broken into a lot in Vancouver. " ( I live in WA state but grew up in Vancouver. I told him, I know the area and it s bad areas well, we arent going to be in the bad areas and I know how to make a car less..... etc) We rent about 3 times a years...NEVER experienced this.

Terrible service at YVR Budget
Pros: The car.
Cons: I feel that I was looked after terribly by a trainee. As far as what I've read in Terms & Conditions, what I have to present when renting at the counter is my Driver's License and Credit Card. This is were the terrible service started. I got asked for a 2nd piece of ID with my address on it. Unfortunately, my Passport had expired 7/14 & I was still waiting for my new one. So the trainee proceeds to call AMEX where they asked him for his name. He seemed perturbed that they asked for it. In the end, I don't think he ever got an address confirmation. I did pull out my Utility Bill to confirm my address. In the end, he went through with me signing the papers, but no thank you, nothing! He seemed more annoyed that AMEX asked him for his name.
