Total price ended up being FIVE TIMES what was originally quoted and I still haven’t seen my deposit returned. They charged multiple additional hidden fees, pick-up was a chaotic nightmare, I couldn’t get ahold of anyone at the return location after calling for hours, and that return location tried to charge me a bunch of money for random other things, thinking I didn’t speak Portuguese and they could get away with it.

Returning the car at GRU was a challenge. SatNav (Google) takes you to a parking structure with daily rates posted and no additional info. The airport map shows where the Unidas counter is, but not where you drop off the car. I called Unidas. No one picked up. I drove around I drove to the fuel station, asked inside, and no one knew (is Unidas newer?!) I went back to Loçaliza / Movidas (off terminal, on campus, near GRU Terminal 1), asked someone there for help, and after pushing got terminal 3, terminal 3 andar 6 (6th floor). I returned the 3 km back to parking@terminal 3. I took a chance on entering. Signs only list floors 1-5 directly in front. I asked the security guard; he pointed to a different ramp way that did access the 6th floor. What Kayak can do: 1. Localize for emerging markets. Mention these details in the return address. 2. B2B2C influence. Contact Google, Apple, and maybe the Brazilian equivalent of Yext! And get them to do the same. 3. Encourage Unidas to provide better signs at GRU. Congonhas was much easier for pickup.

Horrible service! We changed our car three times in the span of for days. First and last time trying, cheap things ain’t good and good things ain’t cheap. Go to Localiza, way better experience! Thanks, but no thanks. Don’t recommend. First change, she gave us the wrong car (no multi media) and “couldn’t” change it. Went to another location, easy 1,2,3 swap. But, it was in Barra Funda (nice location). Had a new Nissan vehicle started making a horrible sound. As if the engine was going to fall out. To change that car took forever! To check in to the first location was a HASSLE! The girl didn’t know that Americans no longer need a visa to enter Brazil. Took 20 minutes to look for a non existing visa. We were the ONLY ones in the store and CHECK IN took 1.5 hours! HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!
