Tulsa’s streets are large and wide and are perfect for accommodating all size of vehicles. Whether you end up renting a sedan or an SUV, either one will have an easy time navigating the city’s wide roads. Parking both streetside and in lots will also be a breeze for all vehicles -- even the largest of trucks -- so truly any car will be suitable for your time in Tulsa.
Residential and urban areas in Tulsa often feature a starting speed limit of 25 mph. After that, limits bump up to 35 to 50 mph on major roads, while on highways and interstates the speed limit typically ranges from 65 to 70 mph, depending on the size of the highway.
If you plan on visiting the downtown area and the central business district, parking garages and lots are going to be your go-to parking option. Another plus of parking garages is that they are fairly cheap, usually costing just a couple dollars per hour. Outside of those central areas, streetside parking will be more than sufficient. Streetside parking is also available downtown, but during peak hours open spaces can be slightly more difficult to find so it may be worth sticking to a sure bet in a parking garage.

Better explanation that I would have to take a Uber or taxi from the airport to pick up the vehicle. I stood in line at the airport for almost 30 mins as they where behind. Once I got to the counter it was explained that I had to take a Uber to the other location.10.0 Wonderful

Nothing. Car was paid for but no car was available on the same day I was planning on getting it. Terrible experience. And to put the icing on the cake, I've been charged for the car and insurance that Hertz did not deliver.Cons:
When I pay for a car and insurance in advance, I expect there to be a car for me. Is that so unreasonable. I WILL NEVER USE HERTZ AGAIN8.0 Very good

Pros:
staff was great, drop off was easy.Cons:
the additional fees incurred at drop off were not disclosed properly at rental. those fees should be disclosed when someone is making the purchase. it's shady and nobody feels good about their rental when they're slapped with that. the vehicle was clean and full of gas, i'm talking about the "standard" fees that everyone incurs.3.6 Poor

Pros:
I liked the option with Payless to pick up the car on airport property vs. needing to shuttle to another location. Returning the car was simple and easy, which was appreciated.Cons:
The staff was friendly at pick up, but we had to wait in line in the garage to get the keys for much longer than one would expect. A parking garage is not the safest of places to try to wrangle a toddler who has been stuck on a plane for several hours. When we got to the car, the vehicle wasn’t as clean inside or out as one would reasonably expect either. Despite paying more for a mid-size SUV to comfortably fit our standard sized car seat that easily fits in a similar mid-size SUV, it took quite a bit of effort to get the seat installed due to it being a tight fit and then not the most comfortable ride for the driver who had to scoot the seat closer to the steering wheel than preferred.10.0 Wonderful

It did not seem staff were prepared for the amount of reservations that had been made. We were the last flight in and one person was running the counter for Budget, Avis and the Payless counter. Staff were not able to login easily which led to like swaps and outdoor waiting for many customers. The staff handled the stress well. Following pick up everything else went smoothly.9 locations in Tulsa

Cons:
Car was not ready. They tried to charge for things in a very shifty way. They did not disclose information that was important to the rental. They were emphatic that there was to be no smoking of any kind in the car and gave us a car that reeked of smoke - and then said that it was the cleaner they used to sanitize due to COVID. RIGHT!!! They charged us (prepaid) for a full tank of gas upon return, said we had a full tank of gas when they gave us the keys, but the car was only half full. When we pointed all these things out, they became defensive, dismissive and resorted to lies.2.0 Poor

Jan 2020
Cons:
The staff was helpful, but the Avis's policy on accepting payment is nonsensical and downright idiotic. They would not accept my debit card. I literally use this card EVERYWHERE -- travel, retail, etc. -- both offline and online for much larger and much smaller purchases, and I've never had an issue. Then, Avis says they can't use that to rent the car to me? Are you kidding me? I'm a Preferred Plus member and have rented cars from you many times. You know you can trust me to pay, and you know who I am. (I literally could've walked over to an airline ticket counter, used my debit card to buy a refundable ticket, returned to Avis to rent a car [since that's the only way they said they'd accept my debit], and then returned to the airline ticket counter for a refund. That makes NO sense.) AFTER THAT FIASCO AND ARGUING WITH THE STAFF TO NO AVAIL, I tried to see if they could use my American Express card that's in the system (since I use it regularly for work). They needed a code, but I didn't have the card (it was in my home in another state). I got on the phone with American Express, and they were willing to give a 1-time code (they said they do this regularly with companies when their clients don't have their cards). Unfortunately, Avis didn't accept that offer either. GRRRRRRR. I ended up having to get a local family member to swipe a credit card of theirs. So frustrating!7.6 Good

I needed a car to drive to Dallas on short notice. I mistakenly thought I will rent a car from the airport location. I was able to reserve the car a pay for the insurance however, when I went to pickup the car I was turned away empty handed. Apparently, If you don not have a major credit card you can not rent a car. However they are more than happy to accept a debit card payment for the insurance. Very frustrating experience and I basically got ripped off. I am comforted to know all of this is in the fine print.8.8 Very good

Pros:
I got a car...Cons:
I reserved a car online- a small SUV. When I arrived I was told they ONLY had compact and economy cars. And that it would still be the same price. I was given a tiny little car with no key fob to lock or unlock. It was really dirty on the outside like someone had driven through the rain and dirt. And the tire pressure was low. I’ll never rent from Thrifty again. I’ll pay a little mike to go with Hertz or National. One location in Tulsa
