Cons: Better explanation that I would have to take a Uber or taxi from the airport to pick up the vehicle. I stood in line at the airport for almost 30 mins as they where behind. Once I got to the counter it was explained that I had to take a Uber to the other location.

Pros: Luved the agent who handled my pick up and processing. She was amazing and helped me with not only one rental, but two! I wish I knew her name, I would write to her supervisor for how amazing and helpful she was. Tulsa Airport.Cons: Because I reserved through a 3rd party, I feel the rules and agreements were hard to understand or weren’t explained thoroughly. They should have an itemized invoice of all charges pending or not.

Cons: I needed a car to drive to Dallas on short notice. I mistakenly thought I will rent a car from the airport location. I was able to reserve the car a pay for the insurance however, when I went to pickup the car I was turned away empty handed. Apparently, If you don not have a major credit card you can not rent a car. However they are more than happy to accept a debit card payment for the insurance. Very frustrating experience and I basically got ripped off. I am comforted to know all of this is in the fine print.

9.6 ExcellentDec 6 2019
Pros: The women that helped us when picking up the rental was wonderful; the car was clean and new; drop off was super quick and easy. Will definitely use Thrifty again.Cons: Prices could be cheaper, but for a minivan with leather seats at about $70/day it’s not too bad.

Out of carsPros: I got a car...Cons: I reserved a car online- a small SUV. When I arrived I was told they ONLY had compact and economy cars. And that it would still be the same price. I was given a tiny little car with no key fob to lock or unlock. It was really dirty on the outside like someone had driven through the rain and dirt. And the tire pressure was low. I’ll never rent from Thrifty again. I’ll pay a little mike to go with Hertz or National.

Very positivePros: Check in was quick and painless, and I had my receipt emailed to me in seconds after car was turned in.Cons: We ended up with a Hybrid, which we would never want to do again. Fuel efficiency was great, but not worth the lack of power that we needed in the hilly Ozarks.

Never againPros: NothingCons: It was no deal, I tried the wild card deal, with the hope of getting a nice car - NO. The car that was available was compact, yeah right I am 6' 3" weight 275. I asked if there was any deal for bigger car, and the (very unpleasant lady,) said no. Luckly this wasnt my first time renting a car, I had two other reservations for situations like this. Therefore, enterprise got my business.. Big mistake Thrifty - HUGH. For anyone thinking about getting a good deal, not knowing what kind of car you are going to get, have a back up plan/reservation! :-)
Pros: Nice staff, nice vehicle.Cons: I rented a Corolla but was bumped up to a 4Runner because at pickup time. While I enjoyed the vehicle, the lower gas mileage made the rental more expensive.
5.6 OkayJan 3 2020
Cons: The staff was helpful, but the Avis's policy on accepting payment is nonsensical and downright idiotic. They would not accept my debit card. I literally use this card EVERYWHERE -- travel, retail, etc. -- both offline and online for much larger and much smaller purchases, and I've never had an issue. Then, Avis says they can't use that to rent the car to me? Are you kidding me? I'm a Preferred Plus member and have rented cars from you many times. You know you can trust me to pay, and you know who I am. (I literally could've walked over to an airline ticket counter, used my debit card to buy a refundable ticket, returned to Avis to rent a car [since that's the only way they said they'd accept my debit], and then returned to the airline ticket counter for a refund. That makes NO sense.) AFTER THAT FIASCO AND ARGUING WITH THE STAFF TO NO AVAIL, I tried to see if they could use my American Express card that's in the system (since I use it regularly for work). They needed a code, but I didn't have the card (it was in my home in another state). I got on the phone with American Express, and they were willing to give a 1-time code (they said they do this regularly with companies when their clients don't have their cards). Unfortunately, Avis didn't accept that offer either. GRRRRRRR. I ended up having to get a local family member to swipe a credit card of theirs. So frustrating!

Nice RidePros: The ease and quality of service. I was able to get in and out during the pick-up & drop off.
Pros: The tiny car they stiffed me with was nice and clean. I paid for an Intermediate and they gave me the keys for a small Ford compact. When I complained that is not what I signed up for, they told me, "I could take it or leave it." Me and my wife were stuck for driving way over 1,800 miles from Tulsa , OK to Daytona Beach, FL in that very small car.Cons: Every thing from the service I received. Still have not heard back from Dollar after I registered a complaint with them several days ago.

6.8 GoodJan 28 2020
Pros: staff was great, drop off was easy.Cons: the additional fees incurred at drop off were not disclosed properly at rental. those fees should be disclosed when someone is making the purchase. it's shady and nobody feels good about their rental when they're slapped with that. the vehicle was clean and full of gas, i'm talking about the "standard" fees that everyone incurs.

Pros: The person at the counter at pickup was very friendly and professional. Car was clean and in good condition.Cons: $9.99/gallon for fuel is exhorbitant when the local market rate is around $2.15. I had every intention of filling it up (because I knew I would only use about 3 gallons which didn't justify a prepaid full tank) but was delayed because the job interview I was there for went long and I would have missed my flight if I'd stopped for fuel.
2.8 MediocreMay 27 2019
Cons: Had to wait a day to get the car. Location was over booked and counter employee was rude about it. So we were stuck without a vehicle. Couldn't get dinner or anything we need to do done. Then they changed up twice for the rental. I will not ues dollar again. Back to Enterprise and staying
Cons: Car was not ready. They tried to charge for things in a very shifty way. They did not disclose information that was important to the rental. They were emphatic that there was to be no smoking of any kind in the car and gave us a car that reeked of smoke - and then said that it was the cleaner they used to sanitize due to COVID. RIGHT!!! They charged us (prepaid) for a full tank of gas upon return, said we had a full tank of gas when they gave us the keys, but the car was only half full. When we pointed all these things out, they became defensive, dismissive and resorted to lies.

Pros: Nothing.Cons: First, the location was not at the airport. In some ways, that was good because I went to the airport counter first. What I found out is that the location where I was supposed to pick-up the car closed at noon, which is when I had scheduled my pick-up. So, I would have been very upset had I gone there. On top of that, I had to pay Hertz for another car, as they cannot accept prepayment to Kayak. I want my money back!
10.0 ExcellentNov 2 2020
Pros: Staff was helpful and nice. Let me pick up the car an hour early so I could get a head start on my day! Thanks guys!Cons: Verification of drop off. The key had to be left in a drop box, which is handy. But there’s no way to verify what time or by whom the keys were dropped off. To clear me of any liability of the car sitting in the lot while the store is unattended, it would be helpful to have some sort of verification process, an attendant would be nice but not necessary. Maybe a phone call or video conference might work.
5.6 OkayOct 21 2020
Cons: When we picked up the car we did a walk around but missed the broken taillight. We asked if someone needed to check off we did that and they said no. When we got in the car and was several several miles down the road we turned on the air conditioner and it smelled so bad of cigarette smoke. The day before we turned in the car my husband was filling up the car and noticed that one of the tires had cord showing. We returned the car and they took a little bit off the balance but they never said sorry or even addressed the fact what happened.
Pros: I liked the option with Payless to pick up the car on airport property vs. needing to shuttle to another location. Returning the car was simple and easy, which was appreciated.Cons: The staff was friendly at pick up, but we had to wait in line in the garage to get the keys for much longer than one would expect. A parking garage is not the safest of places to try to wrangle a toddler who has been stuck on a plane for several hours. When we got to the car, the vehicle wasn’t as clean inside or out as one would reasonably expect either. Despite paying more for a mid-size SUV to comfortably fit our standard sized car seat that easily fits in a similar mid-size SUV, it took quite a bit of effort to get the seat installed due to it being a tight fit and then not the most comfortable ride for the driver who had to scoot the seat closer to the steering wheel than preferred.

Oklahoma, Tulsa included, is a state that is built for cars. Tulsa itself features very limited public transportation options, so if you want to make the most out of your time there, a rental car is the best choice. There really is no other way to get around town, especially at night and on weekends when the public bus service is limited.
Excited to hit the road upon landing in Tulsa? If you are like many travelers, step one of your trip is to pick up your rental vehicle. For travelers with flights landing at Tulsa International Airport, you will find the airport’s rental car counters located in the lobby of the Arrivals Hall.
Tulsa is a beautiful city and Oklahoma is a gorgeous state, most particularly during the wintertime. However, if you plan on visiting during the winter months, then be extra prepared to drive in potentially heavy snow. Winter comes on hard in Oklahoma and a storm can blown in quickly. When driving in inclement weather like a snow storm, drive in a lower gear as your car will have an easier time with it.
Drivers can expect rush hour traffic in Tulsa to pick up in the morning around 7:00 a.m. and to last until 9:00 a.m., while in the afternoon rush hour usually starts around 4:00 p.m. and finishes up around 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. during the week. Broken Arrow Expressway is the main road to look out for during rush hour, as its short merging lanes can often become congested during peak traffic hours.

Tulsa’s streets are large and wide and are perfect for accommodating all size of vehicles. Whether you end up renting a sedan or an SUV, either one will have an easy time navigating the city’s wide roads. Parking both streetside and in lots will also be a breeze for all vehicles -- even the largest of trucks -- so truly any car will be suitable for your time in Tulsa.
Residential and urban areas in Tulsa often feature a starting speed limit of 25 mph. After that, limits bump up to 35 to 50 mph on major roads, while on highways and interstates the speed limit typically ranges from 65 to 70 mph, depending on the size of the highway.
Gas is, fortunately, fairly affordable in Tulsa and is quite cheap in comparison to other cities in the U.S. In fact, it’s average cost of $1.85 per gallon puts it in the good company of Dallas, where gas is especially cheap at $1.80 per gallon.
If you plan on visiting the downtown area and the central business district, parking garages and lots are going to be your go-to parking option. Another plus of parking garages is that they are fairly cheap, usually costing just a couple dollars per hour. Outside of those central areas, streetside parking will be more than sufficient. Streetside parking is also available downtown, but during peak hours open spaces can be slightly more difficult to find so it may be worth sticking to a sure bet in a parking garage.
