I rent cars at the Syracuse airport several times per year. My experience has ranged from "fine" to outright horrible. I will only rent from Enterprise from now on. I had a great experience with a very friendly clerk at check-in. A nice, clean car that doesn't smell like smoke - no small thing these days - and a friendly staff member at drop-off. I'm moving my business to Enterprise.

I booked a car at the airport in Syracuse, just to find out that the car was never booked there but in the downtown. Which, naturally caused some issues as I had to head out for a customer dinner held in Skaneateles and then next day to our production site in Auburn. This situation caused the issues as well to Enterprise, as they had cars on the airport booked for other customers already. Eventually, we resolved the situation luckily, with loads of energy lost and nervousness around time, money and energy. Thus, I never even took over the car booked through Kayak as there was no sense for me to book the car in downtown Auburn - which was my end destination from the airport in Syracuse.

-0 I was not told and given a car that required battery re charge! Takes hours to refill and places to refill are scarce!! I would never knowingly rent a car like this

My flight was delayed and Hertz office was closed by the time I arrived. The next morning, they gave my reserved car to someone else before I arrived and made me wait around. Gabriel Baker, the Manager Associate, should not be in a customer facing job. Instead of at least saying sorry about that but it's policy, he was at best unsympathetic. Overall, customer service was terrible. Be sure you don't miss the cutoff or they'll give your reserved car to someone else and act like you should enjoy the privilege of a lengthy delay.

Hertz moved offices but didn't update me (or the seven other hertz customers who went to the same old address the same day). Hertz gave away my car and then charged me more for an upgrade as my only option. Enterprise across the street from the old Hertz address was kind to give me a free ride to the new Hertz address. I'll def go Enterprise next time no matter the extra cost. Relatability matters!

Heavy Cigarette smell in car Charged us double the price on our credit card even though receipt is for correct amount. Still disputing this matter Very difficult to contact local Avis.. rolls over to national call center.. very frustrating

Vehicle needed maintenance, vibrated badly probly needed a front end alignment or tire balance. Only had to use it an hour a day otherwise would've taken it back.

Steve in the Syracuse airport was excellent and that’s it. The car was clean and he was very helpful and understanding of our situation on how we were treated by the other location. However the my experience other than that was subpar to day the least. When I went to pick up the car at the West Geneses location Syracuse it was a disaster. Our reservation was canceled without reaching out to us and the car was rented to another family. When we tried to get an explanation we were told we weren’t there by 9am turned around gave us the phone number to corporate and said this is all I can do to help you. When we realized the family behind us turned the vehicle we asked to rent that one she said no your reservation was canceled and I had to go through the entire process again and didn’t help Zero with anything. When I called corporate it was the same pretty much being passed around and everyone really not trying. I was able to speak to someone who found us a vehicle at the airport location across town and no way of getting there. I had to find transportation to get us over there lost pretty much several hrs of my daughters graduation just trying to fix a problem that was created by you even after I had confirmation on my end. I can continue with plenty more . I hope someone from customer service at least tried to make this better somehow on how much stress they caused me and my family on this was supposed to be a joyous celebration and weekend.

I prepaid for this rental but then got charged $20 more than that amount. Just enough to notice but nor enough to waste time collecting. Just a bad experience and no more Budget/Avis. This never happens with Enterprise.

Travelocity confirmed my rental, but Avis was sold out of cars. This should not be allowed to happen!!! It's extremely unprofessional and a disservice to customers that Kayak and Travelocity are allowed to mislead customers in this fashion. Immediate quality control measures are needed to prevent this from taking place.

Pros:

Syracuse staff was helpful, friendly, efficient.

Cons:

The check engine light came on while I was in NC, 700 miles away from home.Obviously I rented a car for reliability so I called, they told me to take it to local shop and trade it in. I went to 2 different locations and called the airport location. The only thing the staff would say is no cars were available. Which is fine, but there were no other options offered, no recommended plan of action. This is their car, there should have been more guidance. I drove the car back and it made it ok. Not knowing what the issue was or what could go wrong was a stress I did not need on this trip.
