9.0 Excellent
Pros: It's sheer elegance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were welcomed at every turn , from Valet Parking to employee who put our bags away to employee who convinced me to try The Biscuit--a GREAT idea😄
Cons: I had only one night to stay😂
7.0 Good
Cons: We have stayed here before. The room was way below par compared to our past visits.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The decor is spectacular. Even beats the Old Cataract in Aswan, Egypt where Wnson Churchill had a suite. It was my favorite hotel until Jefferson. Pool is so nice and warm with a touch of salt.
Cons: Nothing it was fabulous
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lobby areas are absolutely beautiful! The rooms are elegant and reminiscent of the time when the hotel was built, but with all the luxuries of today!
Cons: Really, no, I love everything about this hotel!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, very comfortable, great blankets ( a deal breaker for my spouse) Overall, I was extremely pleased.
Cons: I was expecting a jacuzzi tub. Disappointed when I didn't find one.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very upscale with nice amenities.
Cons: Currently being renovated, so there was scaffolding in the main lobby area. The pool was also closed, which was one of the reasons I chose this location over others.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and the quality of the hotel. Everything was first class. The room was beautiful and the staff was very helpful.
Cons: No. This was a first class experience in every way.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: History and elegance; room size was wonderful; bathroom was amazing with a TV in the mirror; absolutely 5 stars
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant food was excellent!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The updated rooms are beautifully designed and furnished. We also enjoyed the Lemaire restaurant which is onsite. One of the best meals I've had the pleasure of enjoying...and I am a picky foodie! Hotel employees were 1st class... very friendly.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel in perfect location. Our room and bathroom were magnificent.
Hi Richmond - Hostel - Richmond - Building
2
9.4 Excellent (405 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at HI Richmond - Hostel, you'll be centrally located in Richmond, steps from Broad Street and 8 minutes by foot from Greater Richmond Convention Center. Featured amenities include a computer station, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Safe, inviting, clean, and convenient to downtown. Staff very friendly and nice interesting mix of other travelers (and as ages). Lots of local activities as well as huge area inside for mingling or curling up with a book while people came and went.
Cons: Wish I could have stayed longer.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cool atmosphere. Kind and helpful staff. Comfortable mattresses. Big lockers. Decent breakfast.
Cons: For staying in the US, it is a good deal compared to a hotel. If you are comparing to hostels anywhere else in the world, it is grossly expensive (as are most hostels in the US). Especially since they charge an extra USD$4 per day on top of the nightly fee if you are not a member. $40/night for one bed in a 6-bed hostel (beds offer no privacy curtain or outlet. Does have a light and a USB port). If you want a private room, try Airbnb first!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We wanted to stay in downtown Richmond but the other hotels were very expensive. The hostel was perfect with a spacious room to ourselves and a private bathroom. The breakfast in the morning was simple and very clean.
Cons: The walls were a bit thin, you could hear every conversation in the hallway and every door that closed in the hall.
5.0 Okay
Pros: I liked that the staff was friendly and the concept of food sharing and the decor in the lounge area
Cons: Didn’t like the set up.. room super small to many rules
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Really comfortable. Good staff. Great shower.
Cons: It’s not totally their fault, but parking was a bare.
9.3 Excellent
Cons: These was a big bug on my bed one day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. Self serve, self prepare cereal, eggs, toast, yogurt,... Desk staff was friendly and well informed about the area. Relatively large and comfortable bunks with phone chargers build in. Pleanty of bathrooms. Generally no waiting in the mornings Occasional dinner mixers to help people get to know each other Good clothes washer and dryer arrangement. Free Good and inexpensive restaurants nearby
Cons: No problems
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is the best hostel I've stayed at so far! The rooms were clean, nicely furnished, and provided enough towels and other amenities for everyone in our party of six. The common rooms also were very inviting, and the staff was very friendly in a natural, amiable way. Should I have the opportunity to come back to Richmond, I would love to stay at the HI Richmond Hostel again.
Cons: As the location is not far from the city centre, it's not so easy to find a (cheap) parking space. Although there are quite many car parks nearby, they all have different prices, so if you're not sure, it's better to ask the staff at the hostel.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: You have to bring down your own linens when you check out. No problem there but what grossed me out was they don’t wash the comforters or mattress covers but make you leave them in the room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was amazing! Being able to do my laundry.
Cons: Need to have an elevator to be able to transport bags from lobby to the rooms. Need an ice machine for the customers.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great! They seemed to have a sixth sense so they could give me recommendations I needed even without me asking. The lobby was super nice looking and comfy! And the kitchen was so big there could be many people cooking at the same time.
Cons: There were a spiderweb and a spider right next to the thing you bleeb your keycard to get in during late hours, and I'm afraid of spiders. :D That was the biggest con of the hostel, so I'd say it was pretty great!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was amazing, from the front desk staff to the bartenders to the spa ladies! The fact there was a shuttle was a complete surprise and Gabriel was fantastic and efficient! Kathy in the spa was my surprise massage and facial from my boyfriend and she was fantastic; seriously what I needed after the past few weeks. We can’t wait to stay at another Hilton location because if they’re like this one, they’ve earned repeat business from us!
Cons: Nothing! There was no way to not love this property!!
6.8 Good
Cons: Pillows extremely hard and uncomfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Hospitality
Cons: The hotel was very comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fast check in, great price, everyone so friendly even maintenance guys were pretty hilarious
Cons: I couldn't stay longer.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: great location
Cons: Everything was great with the property
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location to shopping but at distance enough to not have the huge crowds when wanting to wind down.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything exceeded my expectations starting with the front desk concierge being so open and friendly. Then the breakfast is actually tasty and priced just right for the amount of food offered. We even tried some of the desserts... that caramel cookie and decadent chocolate cake is AMAZING!!!! I appreciate the complimentary water readily available and the microwave for use is helpful. The bed is super comfy and the room was big enough for two. I didn’t hear a lot of outside noise in the hallways and the cleaning staff were courteous and respected our privacy when prompted. I didn't have the time or the extra cash to try the spa but trust me the next time we return I will indulge in some self care.
Cons: The only issue ***and mind you this is me splitting hairs*** is that the Starbucks inside the lobby is not full service. So they can’t accept your Starbucks Rewards app for payment. No worries because there are two close in the area (within 1-3 miles) if you’d rather not spend the cash.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Service excellent
Cons: Bathrooms a little dated, bath run a little dirty for our 2 year old to take a bath and sit down in
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. The hotel staff (Front desk & Housekeeping were friendly.
Cons: The bathroom would become very steamy after taking a shower, there was no way to control the humidity. Other rooms I have stayed in did not experience that problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Traveling with 3 sons and families with 5 grandchildren to attend family wedding activities - all enjoyed their stay! Initial confusion with breakfast inclusion with Hilton gold status but, breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly and appreciated gratis champagne and chocolates. (Unfortunately, left behind!) Upgrade of room was fantastic! Maggie was extremely helpful during reservations and check-in.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Prestigious Feel
Cons: No free breakfast. No microwave in room
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: The bed was terrible. Didn't sleep much.

Pros: Beautiful grounds. Rooms were top notch, but some of the outer buildings needed cleaning, pool is aging. The back parking for hotel guests was not very well lit at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely wonderful hotel. It is such a charming place to stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Love the campus setting, the grounds are absolutely beautiful including the three buildings and staff could not be any friendlier.
Cons: N/a
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Facilities, the grounds, Staff - you couldn't get nicer/ friendlier very helpful.
Cons: I have no issues to report here....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Liked the beauty of the grounds and the availability of coffee.
Cons: The drive up to the building in the dark was a bit confusing. Could have had better signage and lighting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean. Beautiful. Felt like a Virginia plantation. We had an issue with service at Happy Hour and the manager swiftly took care of it. Made it right, and offered us a chocolate lava cake, since chocolate makes everything better. Cute and appreciated. We didn't have time to use the pool. It looked very ADA accessible with the ramp and lifts. Happy Hour was a nice bonus.
Cons: I requested an ADA room on the reservation form and was given the furthest possible room from the lobby. 255. It was a long walk from parking and it was NOT an ADA room. It was roomy and had a vertical grab bar at the head end of the tub, so we were OK.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view is absolutely amazing. Very safe area ,spacious rooms, great pool area to relax, great customer service, beds are the most comfortable I've ever been in for a hotel. Super clean!
Cons: No microwave in rooms.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The grounds are breathtaking. Beautiful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed here often. Always enjoy our visit. The rooms are wonderful.
Cons: Service at the Tavern restaurant wasn't the best. Will give them a "pass" as there was a large group in the main dining room and the servers may have been stretched a bit thin.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Especially Breakfast. The kids enjoyed the pool. The Gym was nice and big.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Looks like an old mansion but has modern rooms. The grounds are beautiful. Great value. Workout room and machines were excellent. Food was surprisingly reasonable and happy hour and meal special was great.

Cons: More suitable for younger travellers Staff not particularly professional
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Large, comfortable room with great bed. Very friendly staff. Beautiful lobby and rooftop. Delicious food and drinks.
Cons: Gym is pretty mediocre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel stay was for my daughter’s 21st birthday and she was very happy to stay at such a cool place. The art gallery, restaurant, gift shop, and room was beyond our expectations! Our room was spacious, nicely decorated and the beds were extremely comfortable. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to return to Richmond and stay here again!
4.0 Okay
Pros: Awesome lobby
Cons: Insanely loud room, mediocre creaky bed, iffy neighborhood, no luggage rack, not a 4 star bathroom by any stretch, actually children's art on the walls - not attractive or indicative of a 4 star space, curtains don't close all the way. Basically, look elsewhere for 300+ a night because this isn't a 4 star experience
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The brioche French toast is a must at maple and pine. Room was comfortable but not at decorated as the rest of hote.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Ate at restaurant 3 nights and loved all three meals. Loved happy hour. Loved quirky, contemporary ambiance. Loved people watching.
Cons: Housekeeping was poor. Did not replenish soaps and shampoos. Shorted us on towels. Did not clean the sink or john. We pick up before leaving a hotel room to make it easier to clean up. No excuses for staff not cleaning.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Check in time was very late (4pm).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The bed was really comfortable. The vibe and art all around the facility was aesthetically pleasing.
Cons: We had 5 guests. They gave 3 towels. Not a big deal but would’ve been nice to have a detail like that already planned for in our room :)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great boutique hotel vibe. Very nice staff. Lots of room in my room. Simple but good quality room appointments and amenities. Conveniently located near lots of great restaurants.
Cons: Sounds between rooms a bit loud- could be my neighbors. Sound wave machine was helpful. Just kept it running all the time.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved the decor and the location.
Cons: For a 4 star, the front desk staff could have been more attentive at check in. It was more of, here's your key, okay then. No over view of the hotel or offer to answer any questions. Valet was friendly.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Funky décor. Restaurant was excellent. Happy hour. Staff friendly. Overall contemporary atmosphere. European boutique hotel vibe. Loved people watching in lobby bar.
Cons: Cleaning of rooms was shoddy. Did not replace soaps and shampoos...even shorted us towels. It was obvious the bathroom was not adequately cleaned. Other areas of the hotel were immaculate.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was located close to the freeway but no noise was detected. The room was clean and the bathroom was modern and the shower water temperature was excellent.
Cons: I have no complaints.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had left a photo of my deceased parents in the room I shared with my brother and sister, and a lady working the front desk took the time to call me and see if I wanted it. I did so she arranged to mail it to me. I was in Richmond to put my father’s urn next to my mother’s at Hollywood Cemetery in the mausoleum so the photo meant a lot to me.
Cons: Parking wasn’t the best because of construction going on around the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms was very clean & big! Breakfast included is always a bonus. Would stay again. Checked in on a Friday evening. The man at the front desk was very helpful with ideas for dinner. I find it refreshing because some of my travels have a restaurant in the hotel & the only place they suggest is in the hotel. This hotel does not have a restaurant but breakfast was very yummy!
Cons: The book in the room had a list of restaurants you could go to. However, there was no addresses or what type of restaurant it was. I like to try local places & not go to chain restaurants that I can find everywhere.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super clean, nice rooms, friendly staff
Cons: Beds are a little firm
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thursday breakfast had custom made omelettes. Popcorn popper was a nice touch. Cookies and fruit were great. Coffee available in rooms and lobby. Welcoming staff and room services. Overall very nice stay.
Cons: Parking is under construction. I'm sure the conditions will be better when completed
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, only negative is all the construction, but good location.
Cons: All the construction
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I did not have the breakfast, my dad likes to go out for breakfast and be served. The location was exactly where we needed to be and the traffic was not to bad
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff at check in
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff were professional, helpful and polite. The general appearance of the hotel was of a good standard being clean and well maintained. I would recommend this hotel.
Cons: I had no issues with any aspects of this hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was excellent. The hotel very clean. The breakfast was decent.
Cons: No fault of the hotel, but we lost power for over 5 hours. They need more comfortable chairs in the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is really nice! The pictures really do look like what’s inside! I appreciated the quick check-in and our room was really nice and comfortable! We are located around everything and that was a plus since we are visiting!
Cons: The construction from our view but that really matter to me. We weren’t planning on looking through our window the whole day!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great 24 hour customer service, good breakfast.
Cons: The pool wasn't maintained as well as it could've been. We had to request towels each time and for the filter to be turned on. Also, our housekeeper didn't clean our room thoroughly. She would leave a lot of trash we couldn't fit into their tiny trash bins instead of disposing of it. She also seemed to do the bare minimum with each cleaning and didn't replace items we used as is customary.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and modern with a friendly staff.
Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great for my husband and I. We wanted a clean quiet place to stay and our room actually exceeded our expectations and was close to Virginia State University where we were attending our Grandson's graduation the next day!
Cons: There was a slim gap between the carpet /tile leading into the the kitchen where someone wearing high heels could possibly trip. But this did not affect the cleanliness or the comfortability of our room as well as the convenience in location all for a great price!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room. Large and comfortable. Pet friendly.
Cons: Pool was merky. Grass cutting at 8am woke me up.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, location was convenient but somewhat hidden. Never would have found it without a GPS. Staff was friendly. Room was clean.
Cons: The pull-out sofa bed sheet had a food stain and some crumbs on it even though we had specifically stated we would be using the sofa bed and requested they ensure it was clean. The morning coffee was very weak/watered down. Strong perfume smell in room. Refrigerator "burbled" occasionally at night, waking us up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are nice and the staff was very friendly

Pros: The entire facility was so neat and clean
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: Location, basketball court, sitting area by the fire and check in clerk
Cons: The beds are horrible. We spent $200 to wake up in pain. We are professional truck drivers and came in on a quick business meeting and our sleep was horrible. We tossed and turned all night until we ended up on the sofa. We are two adults 38 and 43 and we spend time in alot of hotels and resorts and this here was an disappointment. We will be rethinking this chain of hotels
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location was fantastic; room was clean, large and comfortable; Marriott's hotels are generally this fantastic!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lobby/seating areas inside and outside
8.0 Excellent
Pros: ... II'm always pleased stay in this nice hotel downtown Richmond. The location is perfect, a bunch of nice restaurants and bars around this place. I love the GYM, and everything what's around.
Cons: ... good question, during my stay, the hotel was only highly loaded. But the staff could handle this situation.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location and the style of the hotel (very modern with pops of color). The room was beautiful and had everything we could ask for. The location is the best in Richmond.
Cons: Our room was only surface clean when we arrived. There were dishes in the dishwasher that were still dirty, and the dishes in the cabinet didn't look too clean either. The floor felt like it hadn't been vacuumed since the previous residents' stay, and there was a suspicious stain on the comforter. The sheets, bathroom, and kitchen surfaces did appear to be clean.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Located near restaurants and nightlife
Cons: Parking was a little difficult
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a beautiful place to stay. The area was right in the middle of downtown. The room provided everything that was needed for the stay.

Pros: Room was clean, friendly help for the most part
Cons: There was no body wash or hair conditioner in the shower dispenser upon check in. Bar of soap at sink was ridiculously small. Cons: The young lady at check-in was efficient but not particularly welcoming. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean also guest services was the best costumer service I’ve EVER had anywhere I look forward to my next stay at the Westin on 12/24/18.
7.5 Good
Pros: I’ve stayed here before and enjoyed it immensely! The hotel is decorated with a modern flair. The rooms are clean, the beds, comfortable, the bathroom is big. The bar and restaurant are good And often times populated with a lot of patrons ( but not an overwhelming amount). That said unfortunately I will have to contemplate staying here again. I learned that they are pet friendly but do not have pet friendly designated rooms/floors like other hotels so for someone like me with allergies to cats and dogs, I run the risk of being placed in a room that a pet might’ve been in previously. The staff was really good at giving me a room higher up which was less likely to have had in it a pet and I worked. If not I ran the risk of showing up to my van with red swollen eyes or worse missing it all together. The staff here by the way is lovely!
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: This early morning the door was locked such that it could not open it. It isn’t that I don’t know how to open a door, it is that it needs maintenance. I spent about 30 minutes trying to adjust the door with out success. The phone at the bed did not work. I called on the other phone, and I could not hear the person on the phone at all, but I did slightly hear that the maintenance person could not arrive until after 7am. I want you to know that if there was a fire, I could have been lost (died) withouout no access. The maitenance man didn’t fully fix it, as I had to mess with it for a bit long. THE LOCK NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. I told the service man when I got out. He is a good man! I missed my meeting this morning at my cost. Also, when I went to go out the door I grabbed a cup of coffee, and two of the coffee pots were cold so I didn’t get coffee. Other people complained as well.
Cons: I don’t think I should pay for this night at a facility that has so much problems. I hope the person at the desk when I check out will take the cost on my bill to nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the entire stay. We want to thank Beverly, Sabrina T, Brandy, Brenda, Sabrina E, Mark, Blanca and Amanda. They were all so gracious and kind and were always willing to go above and beyond down to the smallest detail!

9.5 Excellent
Cons: We were traveling from out of town and checkin time was 3 pm. The rooms were not ready due to house cleaning so we had to wait to 6:30 pm to check in. This inconvenience threw off our entire schedule for the rest of the evening.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: The pillows were too small, and the baseboards were dirty.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was convenient to local shops and restaurants.
Cons: It was a little difficult to find at night.

6.8 Good
Pros: Location and the staff
Cons: HVAC unit my king deluxe suite was very loud making it hard to sleep. I had to use ear plugs Bathroom amenities fair but no lotion TV sat on a dresser at a inconvenient spot in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, this is ONE OF MY FAVORITE HOTELS!
Cons: I had to wait over 2 1/2 hours after check in time to check in to my room because housekeeping was running behind. Management DID PUT A DISCOUNT MY ACCOUNT for the next time I stayed, however we had to hurry up and shower and jump dress for the comedy show that we drove in town to see that night.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The sheets were great!
Cons: The pool wasn't clean and desk staff had no emotion.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was phenomenal. The staff was very friendly. The hotel itself like the lobby and exercise room are very nice. Excellent location with it being part of the Town Center shopping.
Cons: The rooms themselves are a little tired and seem like they need some updating or sprucing up. Our only other complaint is that our room never got cleaned the day after our first night there.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: This is our first experience where basing our hotel selection on past reviews was a severe disappointment. The reviews did not match our experience. We wound up leaving in the middle of the night. Room assigned was next to pool. There was a party at the pool. People sitting INCHES from our window. We requested a room that did not face the pool on any floor. The clerk gave us a new room and stated it did not face the pool. It did. We were one level higher than our previous room. We requested a new room again. There were none. The pool party was loud. The front desk clerk said the pool would close at 10pm. It did not. The noise at 10:15pm had risen. I spoke with the same desk clerk, who said "I am shutting it down now." Twenty minutes later, the party is still going on and as loud as ever. We left the hotel to find other accommodations. At one point, I went to the lobby to ask about ice and there was no clerk at the desk or bartender at the bar. The lobby was barren. The bathroom had hair gathered in a corner near the shower opposite the toilet that had not been swept up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great ....
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unbelievable location! This will now be a vacation destination in itself for us!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff.
Cons: Cleaner bathrooms
7.0 Good
Pros: Bed was very comfy. Location great. Food services great.
Cons: Bathroom WAAAAAY too small...husband is 6'7" and couldn't even move...no two people getting ready. Sink horrible design. Faucet too short. Water ran all over sink, down to floor every time turned on... Loud art show/"jam" in lobby on one night.. TONS of students. All in all a great spot for kids (didn't realize students live there).. not great for a relaxing getaway.
6.8 Good
Pros: It is just a hotel. By the pictures and all the mails we received before, I thought it would have a bit more character. Check in was normal but nothing special. Guy at the bar was helpful and went out of the way to propose beers to our taste.
Cons: The price, more expensive than other hotels of the same level. Pool pictures are misleading, it is really not worth it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The roof top bar was fun.
Cons: Some of the cleaning staff seemed pretty grumpy (not saying I'm always having a good day either) but when the elevator opened (and enough room for everyone) she would not make eye contact or move a bit to allow us to get in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient, secure,good location
Cons: Opt for king bed more seating area
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Character. Different than most hotels
4.3 Okay
Pros: Front desk staff
Cons: Room was not cleaned for 3 days. Very sketchy neighborhood with lots of homeless asking for money every time you walked outside. Pool was gross.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the rooftop pool and bar!
Cons: Couldn’t get service downstairs for breakfast
7.0 Good
Pros: Fun game room, nice lobby bar and café, very nice rooftop bar, very convenient location.
Cons: Lackluster housekeeping service. It took a couple phone calls, several hours apart, to have an ice bucket delivered to our room. It took several inquiries, over two hours, to have towels brought up to the rooftop pool. Both my sisters room and our room did not receive housekeeping service to have our beds made or towels replaced on more than one day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel took on a modern twist. Amenities in the room were of great quality, i.e. peppermint soap, makeup remover, herbal teas, etc.. Small rooftop bar and pool was cute. Hotel dining was very tasty. Staff was the best all around.
Cons: My only critic would be my room space & decor. I get the theme but . . .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here twice, each time pleasantly consistent. Love the staff!
Cons: Stayed in a double twice, rooms need a little more square feet but it works.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the games and rooftop pool. The family suite was nice. Bathrooms were nice but not wheelchair friendly.
Cons: Parking for a wheelchair van is a bit sketchy. There were no blankets for the bunk beds (we did call down and ask for some and were given them.) One shower didn’t work, the pull up mechanism to turn the shower on fell out of the spicket.

Pros: Beautiful historic inn right in Downtown. We picked it because it was close to where we were going.
Cons: Currently the restaurant is being remodeled so we were not able to get breakfast there but the guided us to a Jewish Deli around the corner.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Room had damage including broken lockset on door, water damage in bath and other worn areas that needed repair. Linens were stained. Buyers remorse as we could have remained at our bnb, which was so much nicer.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is close to restaurants and points of interest. I liked the antique, historic feel of the hotel. The courtyard was beautiful, free coffee in the lobby. Bathrooms and room were very clean and nice high ceilings (stayed in room 418).
Cons: The room had 1 window and there was a bed pushed up directly to it so you couldn't have the curtains open easily. The window looked out at the veranda where people walked by so if you had to keep the curtain closed most of the time. It felt claustrophobic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect for visiting Downtown Richmond. It was a very walkable area: close to the State Capitol and good restaurants. The hotel's furnishings were lovely. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Parking can be expensive if you aren't able to find a spot on the street. Fortunately we found a parking space on the street and walked everywhere until it was time to leave. It would have been nice to have a free breakfast but not a deal breaker.

Pros: Location was good. Charming. Comfortable. Staff was very nice and helpful.
Cons: Valet can be a little tricky. Wish they had card room keys instead of actual keys.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bed was comfortable and the room was very dark with the curtains closed, which made for great sleeping.
Cons: Our door seemed too easy to open and my husband and I both felt uncomfortable going to our car in the evening.
5.0 Okay
Pros: conversion of historic buildings into an inn. The air conditioning worked well.
Cons: Did not know that you needed to walk downstairs and up stairs to just enter your room, regardless of the elevator. The brick patio looked great in the pictures, and received 2 ads before arriving for eating, etc. newly opened. The patio was closed, and nothing available for eating. So I feel misled. The staff appeared pre-occupied. No one had checked the bathrooms and the ladies room in the lobby area had backed up toilet. When checking out. they were reading comic books at the reception desk. You at least get a smile at Fairfield or Hampton Inn, not here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the history of the hotel. It was a neat experience to stay in a hotel with a history that was pre-Civil War and a connection with Edger Allen Poe. I would definitely consider staying there again.
Cons: Well, I can’t say I liked staying downtown Richmond. But, the staff, history, and amenities of the hotel is a definite plus.
