Staff friendly and the bar and food was reasonably priced compared to the rest of the village.
The food and service in the restaurant was very good The room allocated to us was very small, cleanliness in the room was very poor , the ensuite was tiny, & the shower did not work . Our room was very non standard and required upgrading.
Breakfast finished at 9.00 o clock which was quite early and there was not a menu to choose from you could only have what was out already
Location and staff attention. Rooms cold and dark. Car park difficult to find and inaccessible. Price probably a bit too high given the quality of the accommodation etc.
The room was comfortable without any frills. The bar area was well run and had an excellent ambiance. The dining room was poorly run. Tables were dirty and not laid. No food left at breakfast. Staff were not trained and receptionist was unhelpful.
Grreat room (39), grreat staff, good restaurant, good location
Good food, pleasant staff and value for money
Basic, but relatively good facilities, bar, restaurant, small (chilly) swimming pool. Good location in the centre of the town and nice part of the country. Second room was much bigger and better. The first "family" room we were put in was not acceptable. there was a small sofa bed which was too small and uncomfortable for our children. Sorted by the staff. The decor is a bit old and tired. Overall a bit 'Fawlty Towers'. Food in bar was average.
Relaxed, attentive staff, homely, real fires.
The location was very good and when the staff learn thier roles and find thier way around the hotel, it will in no doubt be a lovely place to stay. The cleanliness of the room was extremely dissapionting and the staff where not very friendly.
Room was nice and new, however not what I would class as delux as was booked The pool was a good 5 minute walk from one hotel to the next and staff where poorly trained, TV remained broken for 2 day of our stay
The area, although we had to go everywhere in the car, also the room was lovely the fact that the spa was not attached to the hotel again we used the car not very good when you come out of the swimming pool
very good food, friendly staff very understaffed. very expensive bar prices . 90% of rooms had a view. ours didn't.
Very peaceful yet easy access to neighbouring villages etc. I did not like the block our hotel was in as it was some kind of reverted office block. No mini bar, no room service. No information at all about the hotel or area in the room. Breakfast was cold.
Impressive main house and good leisure facilities. Breakfast was also good and plentiful. The room we were in was small with an odd wardrobe with no doors and sharp corners, which my husband banged his head on trying to negotiate the small space between the bed and wardrobe. Although refurbished, this room was in the Shrewesbury Wing, it looked like any standard motel rather than a stately manor house as expected.
The house was very nice and quiet and enjoyed being able to smoke in the bar. the grounds are very nice and peaceful. The pool was very warm and clean and everything was maintained very well. The food was excellent. the buildings next to the house were not inkeeping with the house which made everything look odd. The prices in the bar were outrageous. Also there was no information provided in the room about the hotel facilities etc and had to ask reception about everything
The location and the parkland Felt a bit empty and lifless
The peace and quiet on a Friday night at an English country manor. 1) Never anyone at the bar to order tea/coffee or pre-dinner drinks. 2) The hideous concrete additions to a beautiful house
the setting the hotel was in and the views noise at night from people coming out of ball right up to 3.45am!!
The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Some of the shared areas were very impressive and the setting was pretty good too. The room we stayed in was too small. The restaurant menu was the same for the three nights we stayed. The room we stayed in was opposite the 18th hole of the golf course and it was mowed at about 7.15am on two of the three mornings. Not what you need on a relaxing break.
The main building is stunning as is the setting The sevice and food in the dining room are very poor 40min wait for a cold starter most staff not from GB
The public areas and hotel grounds are lovely The rooms don't live up to the rest of the hotel. Barely travel lodge standards. Bar prices are extortionate - £11 for 2 spirits with mixers.
The gardens and the lounge areas are amazing. Definitely worth doing a walk through the gardens in the morning. Great value. The room we stayed in was very basic, which was fair for the price, but the window didn't open and the loo didn't flush properly. The room was overheated and had an odd smell.
I booked the Blenheim package, when I arrived and was shown to the room, was suprised to be given the Marlborough Suite, which was awseome. With a seperate lounge, two plasma screen t.v.,s and a wonderful four poster bed. What a lovely suprise. We used the dining room in the evening, and had a deliscious 3 course meal with wine. What a lovely treat, can,t wait to return, especially as at Blenheim they turned our tickets into annual passes free of charge, so will definatelly be visiting again.
Visit Palace food and drink cost
Fine old building with lots of charachter. Staff helpful and friendly Very pricy for the room we had which was basic and we could hear clearly all of the activity in the next room. Prices of the mini bar are outrageous-also a dinner of modest proportions came to over £90 for two.
Location nr Blenheim Palace and central of Woodstock; Staff were excellent in dealing with a booking error; room was newly furnished; food was great We booked a four poster bed room; which wasn't available- we'd been allocated a standard room - error in their processing- staff quickly rectified by finding us an exec suite and adding breakfast and £20 off bill; bathroom was very cold - mentioned that at checkout; chimney fire at 5.25am meant that we have to vacate our room in -5 degC temps
The fact that we were within walking distance to Blenheim Palace. Apart from that we used the Hotel as a stopping off place on our journey south and nothing else. We dined out at another restaurant in Woodstock because we did not fancy the menu at the Bear.
Its position in the town; furnishings of a high standard, staff very well presented. Although many foreign staff all spoke English of a very high standard. I think the costs of breakfast there is excessive, really. The bar area could do with freshening up a bit.
the bedroom there was a big coach party in the breakfast room we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated and the noise was dreadful with people standing close to our table carrying on conversations. not relaxing at all. this hotel is over-trading on its facilities.
The location is excellent. Right on the main street in the delightful village of Woodstock. There are a lot of super eating places around every corner. We did have lunch on the first day of our stay. Lets just stay that it did not inspire us to book dinner for either evening. Try to make sure that byou do not have anyone sleeping in a room above you - the creaking will keep you awake.
Beautiful setting, lovely surroundings, good food and friendly staff. Accommodation clean and comfortable.
Our room number 6 was fantastic, extremely cosy and value for money.
Staff were very helpful. Food was exceptional. Room was very clean and comfortable, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing comfortable stay in the Heart of the Cotswolds Pur stay was perfect
Wonderful restortion with very polite friendly helpful staff. Excellent food. UK people staying were return vistors Some areas needed repaint but nothing too obvious
Excellent food and surroundings
very pleasant location---well equipped room-plenty of parking-good for touring the cotswolds----nice lounge meals fairly good[if you like nouvelle cuisine ] but on the pricey side. Limited choice if you wanted something simple.
we thought everything about Mill House. Was great. We would stay there again. Me and my husband thought the beds where to hard.
Very good food. Not disabled friendly. Large rug in reception covering very uneven floor which could be very dangerous. The room was not superior.
Lovely setting and hotel. Great breakfast. Very nice hotel but not worth £100 per room per night for 2 adults.
Comfortable hotel in quiet and relaxing environment
Location ideal for touring and visiting Oxford and the many beautiful villages near to the hotel. Staff very helpful and informative and the Chef is excellent.
There was ample parking, the room was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. we were visiting Blenheim Palace so the Hotel was within easy reach (3min) of Woodstock and the Palace.
The staff were t.he best part as they were so friendly and the food was lovely sheets and blankets on the bed rather than duvet
Staff helpful, friendly and 100% willing to help. Food excellent and great value. superb.
friendly helpful staff, good beer. noisy pipework
Breakfast was excellent.
Friendly and helpful staff
enjoyed dinner and breakfast and friendlyness of the manager and staff - enjoyed the open fire place - hotel was easy to find located a little too far out of Woodstock which meant we had to use the car to visit Windsor central as opposed to leaving the car and walking we didn't realise this at the time of booking - also free WIFI only worked in the bar area not in your room - no real problem but just a little inconvenient
The staff were fantastic, couldn't do enough to help. They booked taxi's and recommended local places. The local area is amazing, definitely worth a trip
Nothing It was a motel with small dowdy rooms attached to a pub. breakfast in the bar. It is 1.8 miles from the centre of Woodstock. Not worth the AA stars.
excellent english country hotel food is good but breakfast should be better.
Excellent position relative to Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Attentive staff and a first class restaurant. Lack of air conditioning in higher level rooms. Hot air tended to rise up the stair well.
Rooms, esp bathrooms very tatty. Wallpaper peeling, paint in need of refreshing, bathrooms very tired and tacky. Food ordinary. Luggage service non-existent. Price extorionate for what was offered. Unimpressed
Good location. Excellent food.
Breakfast Our room lacked a view
Very comfortable room, loved the jelly beans! Bathroom a little cold and no proper mirror.
Superb Food Excellent receotion service Room was a little hot
Brilliant range of continental and English breakfast in a nice setting. Really nice staff and good service. The room is better than the five star Randolph hotel in the Oxford city centre, and has a decent size en-suite bathroom. A pot of green tea for two in the afternoon was £6.50 in the back garden, although we had the garden all to ourselves that afternoon. There was no lifts in the hotel but we did leave our baby's pram at the reception.
The ambience and service All fine
Great food, excellent service, lovely room, free Wi Fi connection Far too hot, no fresh air, no mobile signal
Beautiful and quite just outside oxford with a bus stop almost every 30 minutes going into town.
Freidnly staff, excellent food, very nice clean modern room My only minor gripe if there where no walk in shower or shower screen on freestanding bath. The one benefit was I had a really nice soak in the large bath.
The food was fantastic
Big clean rooms, large bathrooms with a wet room shower. Great food and a nice atmosphere.
