Quality accommodation and service.Excellent breakfast choice.
This hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the bay with its own and other nearby Gourmet dining options.
Food at dinner fabulous. Spa and massage lovely. Bed was a bit too soft. Breakfast buffet (hot food) wasn't brilliant, food not hot enough.
very friendly views loveley, rooms comfortable
I loved the location by Christchurch harbour with the terrace looking out onto the water and I greatly enjoyed the spa facilities. the dinner menue was too fancy for my taste
Workmen although stated they would not be there on a Saturday
Good location,food,accomodation and service
Really nice, comfortable hotel offering friendly personal service. The choice/quality of food in the restaurant was superb, and we had a fantastic view over Mudeford harbour from our room. We have stayed before, and will definately stay again.
Staff were very friendly & attentive. Food was wonderful & setting is lovely. Nothing!
Cleanlness of room, bar and dining room. Breakfast service. Shower performance poor.
It was a disaster. We could not stay. We were given a room next to their waste hold area. The window would not open because all the rubbish bins were just outside. The room was tight and horrible. We left immediately. See our comments of 'what we liked'. Terrible hotel. Needs total modernisation, as location is good. Need new staff, training, etc. avoid staying there at all costs!
Received room upgrade. Very good service
old world charm but shows signs of fading service in Oscars restaurant fell well below expected standard
Leisure facilities £15 to pay for car parking. No mention of this until we had arrived. Staff could be a little overzealous. We received the bill for our evening meal before we had had our dessert and coffee and our table was cleared while we were getting our cooked breakfast
Nice spacious room and spacious general areas staff were very obliging. Could not control temperature in room which got very hot. But in fairness that is a problem a lot of older hotels have.
Location was great. Very close to restraunts, parking, the Bournemouth Pier and Bournemouth Park However, if you are looking at the cheaper rooms you be better served by Premier Innnext door. Service was poor at the front desk and breakfast and breakfast whilst adequate was not at the quality I would have expected. Staff were very disjointed; my pregnant wife asked for some decaf-tea for our room and was advised "the bar might have some". Would have expected them to sort it out. Room location was in the back of beyond with stair only access. Cheaper rooms at this hotel not recommended.
good customer service rooms quite small
The buffet breakfast was superb, especially the honeycomb. Im the first room we were given the central heating was not wotking and we had to move to another room, but nobody came to help us with our luggage and we had to carry it all ourselves - not what one expects from a 4-star hotel especially as my wife and I are in our late seventies
A very comfortable bed having to wait in line to get a breakfast table
I liked the atmosphere, facilities and the staff who were most helpful and friendly. I did experience some problems with accessing my room with the card that was provided to me. It often didn't work and this caused me some inconvenience. I would have been much better off with a good old fashioned key! However, the staff made every effort to resolve this problem by upgrading me to a different room with a sea view. I considered this to be outstanding customer service.
The breakfast was very delightful, lot of choices and they do cater for vegetairans and those who use soya milk. The spa facilities were good. However, I would say that the hotel needs refurbishment and some area needs modernisation. Being told that we are limited to one towel each by one particular member in the spa club. This was not the case with other staff members.
The hotel was very comfortable. The service in the restaurant for breakfast was not good.
Everything fantastic hotel
Wanted to enjoy a quiet, luxury, relaxing spa break away from London - was kept awake by the party night entertainment downstairs. Noise and 'couldnt care less' attitude of staff
We have stayed at the Captains Club on numerous occasions, and it has consistently been excellent. We usually stay in a suite, and the rooms are spacious, quiet, well appointed, stylish and comfortable. The main attraction for us is the peaceful and beautiful view from the lounge area and the main bedroom of the river, moored boats, swans and a tree-filled park on the opposite bank. A place to truly relax, and a base for a lovely walk to Hengistbury Head and the beach. At the end of a long walk the sunny terrace by the river for drinks and food is very welcoming. We came to stay at this hotel for a short break during a sad time, and the staff could not have been more helpful, supportive and caring.
We had a great suit which was most comfortable and the restaurant was very good. The staff are most helpful and the restaurant manager as always was first class aswell as the bar staff. We Highly recommend this Hotel.
Stayed for our daughters wedding, Totally committed staff excellent food great location. I would have anticipated a king size bed as standard for this caliber of hotel
The size and design of the room and it's position right on the river Chairs and settees in the public areas were larger than life, looked great but were uncomfortable
The friendly helpfulness of the welcome. Room service was prompt and curteous. Food was excellent quality This is a new hotel which is reflected in the staffs attitude towards the guests. Good to have an all British staff who seemed to understand the subtleties of any requests and were always friendly and helpful. Billing was confusing at first as the rates were published per room but the bill was set up per person?
Staff were great, very friendly I so think that the value for money was poor. Lovely hotel but have stayed at better for less
The accomodation No gym facility
everything, great up and coming hotel for the future
The staff were very freindly and welcoming. There were parking facilities behind the guest house. One room had a portable fridge. The rooms were all clean. Breakfast was excellent. Our room was very small, the bed practically filled the room! Although I do know the other rooms were quite spacious and there was a small portable fan for our use.
Proximity to beach and town. Friendly hotel owners and excellent food, comfortable accommodation
clean everything and excellent breakfast no bath and windows did not open,
Comfort, pleasant decor, warm welcome & good breakfast
Clean, well presented. Pictures accurate. room and bathroom very clean and modern. Great friendly welcome, good room with everything I could need. Owner friendly and helpful. Nice and near restaurant, pubs and sea.
names of Rooms, breakfast, quiet
Comfortable room, friendly staff and a very competitive rate
Location, very clean room, 'homely'
convenient location with very pleasant owners local restuarants in short supply and the one I ate at was very poor.
Room in need of a proper clean and dust. Thick dust at back of bed and on the skirting boards, obviously had not been done for months. Towels smelt of cooking as did the whole place. Needs ventilation in kitchen whilst cooking breakfast.
This hotel offered free WIFI & Parking, and the room only cost £32! The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and I got a free room upgrade. The food in the diner was very good and well priced. Can't really work out why people were moaning, the price is fantastic and everywhere is very clean. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated but its comfortable and the cheapest around so well worth it for a short break. everyone stop moaning and pay more if you expect 5 star services At best, the floorboards outside my room were a bit creaky and there was no blind in the bathroom, which didn't particularly bother me
a up grad of room free of carge noizy nabbears but was lookd aferter
Central location very limited carparking hotel needs a make over, quite dated
Welcoming staff for English speakers but noticed lack of skill at reception for foreigners ie rapid, complex sentences, given once, no body language or reference to local town map etc. I saw two foreigners bemused despite being given instructions which only I could just follow. A little bit ot raining might help! Just a friendly observation - not meaning to be too critical!
we found the location ideal for the shops and theatre. The breakfast was very good and the staff very polite and friendly. creaky floorboards and the housekeeping staff started vacumming at 8.30 in the room upstairs. Also building work taking place although this was probably reflected in the price we paid.
Decor very very tired (corridors & bathroom) It was a typical old fashioned "seaside" hotel... the bathroom hasn't been changed since the 70's (nasty pink suite) and had a mouldy/damp smell. The room also felt extremely draughty and cold, despite the heating being on! The staff were friendly enough though. So to sum up, it is OK for one night.
The staff and the breakfast were superb. The bedroom smelt, believe it emminated from the mattress. Arrived late too tired not until next day the smell had ingressed into clothing. Decor poor and needs complete refurbishment.
Everyone was helpful & friendly. An ideal spot for all locations in the area.
when handing in my key the receptionist could not give me a receipt for the room have requested copy but by 6th July still waiting
the pool and sauna .breakfast the room was an insult ,bathroom outdated and very dirty shower unfit to use . plugs loose on walls wallpaper a disgrace ,torn and dirty.
Cleanliness of hotel Our room was overlooking a building site, which I was not informed about at the time of booking!! The language from the builders was disusting, and the noise from the site was unbearable. The day we arrived we were treated like second class citizens because a chef was having an opening night for his restaurant. This was our first holiday in three years and was completely ruined and unenjoyable.
We were last the hotel 40 years ago on our honeymoon and returned for our ruby anniversary, the only thing the same was the front door but it has been modernised beautifully and everything was perfect. The only problem was the parking, we were lucky to have friends who picked us up each day so we didn't have to move the car but it still had a dent in the side.a
Continental breakfast + newspaper taken to bed in the morning 2 alarm clocks went on at 7 and 8 am. There was no luggage room and we had to leave our bags in the hotel hall after the day after checking out
The rooms were gorgeous and the breakast was geat too!!
The room was lovely and centeral to travel to places the bathroom sink plugs could be easier to use
I like bedroom - window brighten, TV on wall, we watched 'Dambuster' film late night after the party. Tea / coffee plentyful with milk and water in the mini bar free. Bath only is very high sharp edging. Plug when press and sometimes plug out when foot touch.
Comfort of the room and the extensive evening meal menu excessive charge for room service - for one teabag!!
This was a short stay for us, but we enjoyed it immensely, the Kings Hotel is central, and staff very pleasant and helpful, we would certainely return to this hotel. Nothing to dislike.
The quality of the rooms and central location. With windows open room was a little noisy with outside traffic etc
Everything! 10 out of 10!
The rooms are an adequate size, and it is very handy that I can control the temperature. Ridiculous price to use the internet!!! Staff entered my room to clean, however did not refill the tea, coffee or milk, and there was nowhere in reception to get some more (Newquay Premier Inn kept a selection in Reception for you to take as you wished). The shower tap in my room was very stiff (its aged), and therefore I struggled to turn it on and off. Overall, I didn't find it value for money.
Staff were outstanding and very attentive. Breakfast could do with being a bit warmer
Breakfast was good, however my son had egg shell in his fried egg and choaked as he bit into it - apology given but no refund of breakfast payment Where do I begin - Cold sparse room no extra blankets to keep warm, noisy and egg shell in breakfast
The staff were helpful and the breakfast was good. The only bad points were that the heating didn't work when we arrived and we had to call reception in to look at it. Also there wasn't enough teas and coffees to last the night and early morning, we had to ask Reception. Could do with a couple of token biscuits as well.
Cost reduced offer of £29 per night declared inapplicable!? Shower water pressure totally inadequate. Bath floor slippery - danger of slip or fall
yes as previous reviews - lift scary. hot water very hot and could not cool down shower. cold water warm. toilet cistern took long time to refill,
The shower was cold,in both rooms that i booked, & the radiator did not work in room 203
Good location, great view from room with balcony and very friendly staff.
The bed. The view of sea. The alfresco eating around the pool The abcence of a shower. The lack of promised sauna in facilities advertised in sister hotel.
Hotel and room clean and warm and adequate. Breakfast good Although a warning was given water took a long time to heat up (more than 10 minutes for shower) and then only luke warm
Relaxed atmosphere, helpful staff, good meals and good value for money Food portions a bit small
Location was excellent and great value for money. Luxury stay and would definitely stay again. Added bonus of being upgraded but that shows the excellent customer service provided, would definitely recommend to friends and family
Opulent public areas, excellent staff
Sea view, pibic areas had been extensively refurbished. the bedrooms were not of a similar standard as the public areas and are in need of refurbishment.
The room was fantastic and very comfortable Breakfast was very disappointing, not very edible
Excellent Hotel & Bar with very friendly & helpful staff Room was very hot and traffic noise made it difficult to leave any windows open
Got upgraded, curtains lush, breakfast good, brilliant having bath and shower Too many mirrors, corner by the wardrobe wasted
Beautiful rooms, extremely helpful and friendly staff Not a bad comment but something to be aware of, there are no cots available on site
Beautiful house very tastefully restored and decorated. The food in the restaurant was fantastic. Hotel was cold
This hotel is a beautifully furnished designer hotel. On the edge of the New Forest the grounds are considerable. Added to this the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food, (we dined at the restaurant on both nights) this Hotel is fantastic, We were sorry to leave! NO
On our arrival we had coffee in the bar area and was greeted by a friendly barman. We booked the restaurant in the conqueror for both nights of our stay as it was fantastic. The food, staff and efficiency was excellent. Our waitress Amy, for the two nights was brilliant she really looked after us, we couldn't have asked for more, she was very sweet. We will definitely be returning to the hotel and recommending it. There wasn't a manual or folder in hotel room, giving details about the hotel or what time breakfast was. The receptionist had already given us the time of breakfast, so that wasn't a problem. Receptionist did give us a printout of restaurant menu which was helpful.
Our stay at East Close was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the lady that served breakfast each morning. The room was comfortable and clean. There was a lack of sockets next to the dressing table, which made using the hairdryer and kettle difficult. The shower wasn't that powerful. We were surprised that in such a nice hotel, there was no bath to relax in.
Excellent location, beautiful room and amazing food bed a little hard - everything else very good.
The rooms were very stylish and comfortable. The restaurants food and service was fantastic.
good service, excellent breakfast, too stylish exspecially aroma design.
Great staff and comfortable hotel nothing
The Hotel was excellent, within easy walking of the BIC, and plenty of parking. The staff were excellent, very friendly, and service was very good. Our room was comfortable and quiet. A super selection for breakfast, overall a most enjoyable stay.
Meal served by friendly staff Room quite cramped
Freindly & comfortable
Both the staff and food were excellent. The bathroom needs modernising.
Quick and courtious service no smoking but will just have to get used to it as it will soon be law
TV did not work
Friendly hote. Superior double was nicely decorated with little balcony- can't expect 'views' as surrounded by other hotels. Restaurant very good. Staff particularly friendly. Near enough to both prom and town. Would go back.
We booked a superior room, but we would rate the room as standard. The shower was poor, the bathroom tiny, the door wouldn't lock, and overall just a standard room.
lovely hotel, great staff.good position, food very enjoyable.this was our second visit and it defenitely wont be our last!! bar prices.
went to a show at the b i c
We stayed at this hotel to attend a wedding and reception. The Orchid has excellent facilities for both weddings and wedding receptions and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Friendly staff. Value for money Nothing to dislike
the setting and breakfast sqeaky floor boards and windows were hard to shut.
The organisation of my sons wedding was great. The ceremony and the facilities we used made it very special. Some areas needed to be refurbished..... which was a shame.
Good Scrambled egg and service at Breakfast.
quirky decor, good parking, spacious public areas, very pleasant restaurant, friendly reception, good last minute room rate, excellent location. had to have breakfast one morning in less pleasant nearby sister hotel; mattress rather thin
The reception and lounge area was very attractively decorated and inviting. All the staff we dealt with were very pleasant and helpful. The bedrooms were very basic and the blinds in our room were broken in places. The room was also at the front of the hotel so was quite noisy, however it was clean and warm.
It was very clean and modern and the staff were very friendly No food in the evenings. There was no sound proofing in the room, when the people came into the room above it was like they were sat in the room with us
