Cons: nothing

Cons: The highway near the house.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: ‘Beautiful, Serene, and Inviting’ ➕ A gem of a property owned and managed by Paula, who is among the warmest and most caring people my wife and I have met traveling around the world. Paula has transformed her past personal challenges into CoimbraAmeias, a space of quiet beauty with a marvelous view of nearby old Coimbra (a 10-minute walk away, or 5 Euro cab ride). Paula’s joy of life is reflected in the artistry of the building’s decor, the care she takes preparing the morning meal, and the genuine concern she shows for each guest’s well being. We only regret that we don’t live in Coimbra so that we can get to know Paula personally. Recommended for travelers who like quiet and personalized comfort. Muito obrigado, Paula!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was the best place we have ever been. The hosts are lovely and heartwarming. The house was decorated with a lot of love. We would definitely recommend this place to everyone. Thank you for the unforgettable stay. :-)
Cons: Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The stuff make me feel at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Paula and Sofie were great hosts. Paula makes wonderful breakfast and always has a smile. So thoughtful and considerate, can’t say enough to emphasize how outstanding this place is. The renovated house is decorated so tastefully, loved all the little extra touches. Super clean and comfortable accommodation. Really enjoyed the back patio for breakfast and to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Paula was very welcoming and provided us with some nice tips of what to do in the city. The house is very cozy and comfortable. Most importantly, breakfast was amazing and with a lovely view of the city. Would highly recommend staying here.
Cons: Nothing. The stay was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked this location for my parents, which were visiting. Hence, I will report their opinions (they do not browse the Internet). My mother: "Best placed we stayed at in all Portugal. At breakfast they served us croissants, eggs and bacon, all of which was neatly prepared. Eventually, we discovered that the place was closer to town than we expected." Dad: "Excellent host. Pleasant check-in. Coffee and water in the room. I suspect this place is pet-friendly, because there was a nice dog at the premise, which was very polite and trained".
Cons: I am skipping this section altogether.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about our stay at CoimbraAmeias was perfect. Our room, the delicious breakfasts (and eggs!) and most importantly our hosts, Sofia and Paula. Thank you both for letting us enjoy your wonderful home and being such warm, friendly and attentive hosts. We will return!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From start to finish it was absolutely superb. A great welcome, a really lovely room with a very nice view.Just a short walk to restaurants. Lovely comfortable bed which mean't we had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was taken outside in the sunshine and was superb it was the best we experienced of our five night stopovers and anybody going to Coimbra needn't look any further than this property. Just a shame we only spent one night there.
Cons: Couldn't fault it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners are wonderful and amazingly hospitable. A fine beeakfast.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money. Very clean facilities. Bed very comfortable. Did not meet staff face to face, but communication via email was excellent.
Cons: No warning to shower regarding water getting extremely hot. A notice regarding this would be helpful to prevent burns.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, cleanliness, good facilities
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were a little earlier than we had said we would be, but someone was there to greet us, I didn't catch her name unfortunately but she was very informative about what to see and places to eat etc, then we were shown to our rooms which were on the 3rd floor with lovely views of Coimbra. The bed in my room were very comfortabe, every where was clean & quiet considering we were so close to the city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to everything. Excellent area. Restaurants and grocery store nearby. Microwave and refrigerator available. Spotlessly clean. Everything worked. Hosts very responsive to any needs.
Cons: We didn’t get to stay longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excelent location. Installations in pristine conditions. But, much more. We felt welcome from the beginning. Sofia told us about the city. Where to go. What to see. And several times she made a point that we should feel really at home.
Cons: Nothing we couldn't overcome. For instance, the shower space is small. Usual on European installations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing, relatively new property across the river from the old city. It's just a 10 minute walk across the bridge. In fact, it's better to stay on this side of the river because you get better views of the entire old town instead of staying in the old town. This place is even better if you need car parking because there is a free underground garage only 5 minutes walk from the property. Our room had a view of Coimbra (especially beautiful at night). Staff recommended several places to eat that were excellent. We love Coimbra and this place is a gem. It feels like a small boutique hotel. Also easy to leave luggage safely after checkout.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very clean room and good view from the window and the city is within walking distance.
Cons: Weak wifi
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sant Clara guesthouse respects its guest. Even though it is located next to the street, the windows were super soundproof and the shade was perfect. One of the best sleeps ever. The view of coimbra is awesome. Just walk 2 minutes, take photos of the fantastic sunset from the bridge and go on to explore the city. Our room was 100% clean and facilities were modern and cozy. The staff was super nice always available for assistance. It definitely deserves it's high rating.
Cons: Honestly, there is nothing negative to mention. After a long road trip, it was perfect to stay there.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location in lovely town. Very friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Bit noisy. Tea and coffee facilities bit average
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and view

Pros: We stayed at the apartment as a late minute booking and were so glad it was available. It is spacious, clean with lovely furnishings and in a great location. We would certainly stay here again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Love the hidden bathroom!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was big, there was complementary porto wine, and the décor of the room is fabulous.
Cons: There was hair in the bathroom in the towels, as well as coffee stain by the cups.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent accommodation in a position close to the town. Very good café next door for breakfast. Very good value for money.
Cons: Better directions. It could do with some instructions as regards parking and where the property is.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern, nice location, and friendly staff.
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: This was a very functional base from which to explore Coimbra. The location was quiet but not far from the center, and there were some nice touches (the port wine in the room, the option to make tea or coffee, the opportunity to block out the daylight in the mornings. Also, the cleaning lady was very nice!
Cons: Contrary to what the name implies, this is not really a suite. It feels more like a hotel room, since there are several other ArchiSuite rooms off the same entranceway. The entranceway is large but is basically wasted space, since it is not possible to use it as a common area (there is only one chair). Also, the interaction is not at all personalized. It is convenient to access the room with a code, but we missed the option we had in other places to interact with someone from the area. While the company was accessible by phone, this did not replace the personal touch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, host, design... everything is excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place exceeded my expectations. Location is brilliant, just across the centre.on the other side of the river, which makes for a nice short walk in the morning with wonderful views of the city. Area is not noisy either. Moreover, in the room we found tea and coffee-making facilities and also a carafe of port wine. The place itself was beautifully decorated and the rooms are huge and airy. Will definitely return!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best one from my Portugal trip. I was not sure what to expect, but the hotel was a real gem! Very easy to find, on a walking distance from most places to see in Coimbra. The interior was amazing to every little detail.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Manager very helpful and upgraded us.

Pros: Excellent location, right in the middle of the old town, with so many eating place nearby. The main church and university is only a few minutes walk. The place has a nice shared kitchen downstairs. Decent breakfast included. Ana is a nice and caring host. The place is clean and spacious.
Cons: The kids bedrooms are in the attic with steep stairs, need to watch for steps carefully. Since the place is in the middle of the popular tourist area, it can get very noisy when there are events going on. The host did warned about the noise and provided ear plug. The location is a bit hard to reach from train station due to stairs to climb, especially with luggage. There is no Uber in Coimbra, so either need to get taxi or walk the stairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was greeting us at the door. A very nice and welcoming lady. She showed us our set of rooms. The rooms were of good size, clean and comfortable. The next morning she came in early to set up delicious breakfast. It was very nice to come down to a completely set breakfast. It happened that we had a house all to ourselves, which was an added bonus.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: -Location placed in the center of the city -Ana is a wonderful person -everything was very clean -The price was very low
Cons: -Maybe a small chair for the lovely balcony would be great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner Ana is really nice and helpful. The room was huge and clean. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom is nice. Good breakfast. Amazing value for money.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, the room was bright, breezy and beautiful. Ana was very friendly and helpful. We parked just down the hill where it was free overnight. Really an amazing place!
Cons: It was near a bar that was open late, so the free earplugs were an excellent addition :)

Pros: Everything in this house was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. Ana (host) is a very nice and helpful person. Very good breakfast with superb coffee.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean house, bright house, perfectly located right in the center of Coimbra. Laundry was free and practical and breakfast was very good!! Overall, we really loved it!
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great friendly host!
Cons: Poor access to public transport. But almost all of Coimbra is like that.

Pros: Everything was perfect! Great location, beautifull accommodation and super friendly host! If you are staying in here and looking for a delicious meal for a good price go to Maria Portuguesa its basically beside this accommodation and it was the best food I had in a long time, so good! Maria Portuguesa R. Joaquim António de Aguiar N°128, 3000-230 Coimbra, Portugal There is an gelato shop basically beside the accomodation as well that you must try if you are around, they have so many options of flavours and its delicious! Gelataria COSÌ Rua do Quebra Costas, nº1, R/C, 3000-340 Coimbra, Portugal
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast, comfortable, huge room, hones owner, good windows (if you close it, you can hear any noises), If you open windows evening, you can hear the live fado.
Cons: It can be easier shown, where the hostel is. It is hard to find it and GPS doesn't help :(

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The studio is well equipped and very convenient for exploring Coimbre. There is plenty of free safe parking in the street if travelling by car. Eduardo is a a great host who provides good insights on the City. The supplied breakfast was definitely a bonus. We really enjoyed our stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast and the fresh bread livedu to the exoectations of the previous reviews. Thanks for a friendly and comfortable stay
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very complete breakfast with fresh bread delivered in your room every morning Friendliness and professionalism of the hosts. They went out of their way so to adjust to my schedule. Perfect location within walking distance from all the center of the city.
Cons: Low WiFi reception on the upper rooms where the low ceiling may make the room uncomfortable for tall people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bright, sunny space, very clean and lovely balcony on the second floor. Great location for accessing the university.
Cons: The breakfast was a bit light—two fresh rolls delivered each morning with a few jams or babybel cheese. There were some cereals and fruits but on the minimal side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I do not know how many times I have stayed in this place. It is like my home in Coimbra! Great location, comfy bed, and the best thing is you have fresh bread at your door every morning! Love it! Owners are really nice people! I will definitely be back soon!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The studio apt was clean, quiet, bright and well-equiped with everything you could possibly need. The owner, Eduardo was warm and helpful and brought us his famous breakfast. The location was very central. We would stay there again for sure. If you need Gluten free food check out Cantinha da Sota, an entirely gluten free restaurant located near the promenade and the tiver.
Cons: The cosy apartment had sloping ceilings with beams which didn't give much headroom in spots- ouch! That was the only negative.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Eduardo is very friendly and helpful! The homemade marmelade for breakfast is delicious. Fresh bread is delivered every morning at the door! The appartement is nice and with plenty of daylight.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Louisa and Eduardo were delightful.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are very friendly and the whole place got a very positive and friendly atmosphere. It was large, had 2 rooms, one with a kitchenette, plus a bathroom. Bright inside with several windows, wooden floor and a high ceiling. Breakfast was very good, ingredients were inside the fridge, with every morning fresh bread hanging in a bag on the outside of the entrance door. So, you can decide yourself at what time you want to have breakfast. Overall I enjoyed the stay very much and would definitely come back. The house is in perfect distance for walking to the area of the famous university, which is around 5minutes away. No problems to park a car, but also a car is not really needed in Coimbra.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place set in older home. Had a very comfy feel about it.
Cons: The low beams in the top floor apartment.

The cosy rooms at the Quebra Luz have wooden flooring and overlook the Escadas do Quebra Costas stairs, where artistic and cultural events often take place. After exploring the medieval streets of Coimbra, guests may relax at the backside patio. Private balconies are a perfect place to enjoy a cool drink while listening to fado or jazz.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quebra Luz is in the heart of the city centre, a lovely place to stay. Thank you Filipa and Irene for your kind hospitality. You are doing a great job there.
Cons: I would love some fruit for breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Props for Filipa; she is a lovely host, very friendly and helpful 24/7. Everything is super clean and convenient. If you’re looking for a place to stay in the middle of the UNESCO heritage, close to all must-see’s; this is it. Oh, and definitely go for the yummie’est tapas & wine at the restaurant across the street!!
Cons: It can be a bit noisy at the beginning of the night since a few bars are located at the same street. But with the double doors closed and the fan on it was doable to fall asleep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quembra - Luz is placed in a medieval neighborhood, on a cute staircase. Guesthouse adorable, and Carlotta and her colleague were very nice and welcoming co-hosts. Room clean and tidy with all the necessary furniture. Carlota prepared for me the breakfast in advance for my early check out, I really appreciated that. Highly recommended!. The only regret that I stayed just for one night.
Cons: Maybe the WiFi a little bit weak in the room, but does not really matter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was well organised. My host very helpful and friendly.
Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The warm welcome, restaurant recommendations, it’s central location. Comfortable, quiet, facilities- tea! Water provided.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, felt like home. Washer to do laundry!
Cons: On a busy street so you can have noise from street and restaurant even late into the night. Not for a light sleeper. Steep narrow stairs so travel light when staying here, otherwise it’s a great place to stay!
6.3 Good
Pros: It is basically a hostel where you share the kitchen and bathroom. The room was extremely small.
Cons: If you are anything over 30 years old ====forget it!!!! It is all UP HILL to get to it. The taxi driver would not ever drive us any where near the place. So consequently we had to walk over a kilometer to get to the pedestrian area and then up all these slopes and stairs to get to the flat.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We were met with great hospitality and the environment is friendly and very nice and quiet though just in the middle of the old city
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent one night at the Quebra Luz and enjoyed everything about it. The location was superb and the room spacious and well appointed with a balcony and nice view. The owner, Joao, was helpful and easy to communicate with previous to our arrival, to the last moment when he accompanied us to get our cab to the train station in the rain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent position. Staff very kind. Good breakfast. Clean and super silent. Really comfortable. We recommend it!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Right opposite has a great fado performance and they have kindly helped me booked. Street is quiet but just 1-2 mins walk from the main shopping street. Staff are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend and stay here again if I’m back!

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very cosy rooms. We received an upgrade to a suite with jacuzzi due to works in our first room. Nice staff
Cons: Breakfast only in the room which is ok. But the quality was lousy. Only instant coffee ( in Portugal!), thin indudtrial orange juice and joghurt. Worst breakfast during our 16 day Portugal trip. The price of the room would have been wizthout breakfast...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a private apartment (house) with jacuzzi and a perfect view to the city. The price-quality ratio was fabulous (not mentioning the “welcome” sparkling wine).
6.8 Good
Pros: Very nice welcome and great tips for eating
Cons: Appartement was a bit awkward as it had two bedrooms with very tiny bathrooms and a living room that lacked atmosphere. Seemed as if these rooms could be rented separately with a shared kitchen. Getting there with a car is challenging.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The desk staff were wonderful! The little touches such as the welcome drink, the map instructions, recommendations on fado and restaurants, booking a taxi and cookies on leaving - made us feel more like home than guests. We loved the shared lounge/kitchen for breakfast and access to wine glasses, plates coffee tea etc Location was very convenient and close to the university and waterfront. Some uphill steps but to be expected.
Cons: There was some foot noises from the room upstairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful, attentive and friendly.
Cons: A slight smell of drains when we arrived.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Decor is fun and beautifully executed, staff are lovely, very helpful and welcoming! Service was amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay from the very friendly and professional staff to the luxurious room. They minded our bags until check in time and also brought complimentary champagne and fresh cake as a welcome treat. What a wonderful touch! Breakfast was included and was brought to your room in a beautiful basket with a selection of delicious foods, something for everyone. Close to walk to everything. Would definitely stay again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very friendly staff, great service, comfy room, and the price is more than fair. Recommended!
Cons: If you arrive in Coimbra via train do yourself a favor and take a taxi to the hotel, as it is on a steep hill. We arrived very sweaty and exhausted.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a unique and charming place to stay! The staff at Solar Antigo were absolutely lovely, anticipating our every need and spoiling us with treats of champagne, cake and biscuits. The accommodation is eccentric and fun, filled with impressive details from the choices of taps and door handles to the seriously cool gilt framed mirror television and funky bespoke furniture. The location is wonderful, with panoramic views and the best of the old city just a short stroll away, through characterful narrow streets with gorgeous architecture and mysterious archways that beg to be explored. A little up the hill is Coimbra's botanical garden with ancient trees and a giant bamboo forest to wander through. To the side is Coimbra's impressive university district filled with historic sights, and below is an area of boutique shopping dotted with wine bars and restaurants. This is the perfect place for a memorable get-away, and we will certainly be back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Lovely property full of character. Comfortable apartment. Helpful staff. Great for a family.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location right across the street from the university. We got upgraded to a large and beautiful room with a kitchenette and balcony. All of the staff, except one person, were wonderful.
Cons: One staff member was extremely rude
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the unique location, on the hill adjacent to the historic university and just a short walk down (cobbled streets and many steps) to bars, restaurants and shops in town. Loved the contemporary design and facilities of bedrooms (with generous balcony) and communal facilities including dining courtyard, rooftop terrace, lobby breakfast area and bar plus separate reading lounge.
Cons: Arrival staff did not talk to us about all the facilities, luckily we discovered some by chance, however we could have taken better advantage had we known sooner. The hotel hosted private events in their lobby/courtyard and these appeared to be prioritised over guest use of facilities/services, e.g use of in house dining space & courtyard. Staff need better customer relations training to make this spot top notch!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is lovely with a cool courtyard to sit and have lunch or dinner. The restaurant there had great food. It is near the natural history museum which is amazing. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was really nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Coimbra.
Cons: There was nothing about the hotel I didn’t like - the only issue is that it is situated at the top of the hill and Coimbra has very steep hills.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and beautiful. Excellent location. Would highly recommend. The staff that work here are so helpful and kind. Loved loved it!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We LOVED this place! The hotel has a very fresh and funky feel. One of the most unique hotels I've had the pleasure of staying. We had a chance to meet the owner who was a lovely and interesting man. The staff joked around and felt like family. We had a number of issues while we were there that the staff went above and beyond the call for us: First, my husband had an important work call to make, and do a snafu with the room's WiFi, he was unable to do it. The staff quickly came to the rescue and helped him figure out an alternative location. Second, my daughter got sick, and again, the staff jumped to our rescue, helping us with everything we needed. DO NOT MISS THE ROOFTOP DECK. Which looks right out on the city and the university. It's in an absolutely PERFECT location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location. Cleanliness. Staff. Rooms. Food.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: In front of The Library
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, crispy clean room, modern minimalist with comfort, great staff, spectacular view from roof terrace, cosy central yard, good breakfast
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: Very nice roof top terrace, breakfast, competent and helpful staff, complimentary drinks. Location is good, very close to Bibliotheca.
Cons: Very bad WiFi in room A402 (double room), slow, intermittent, but worst of all, no mobile data nor any mobile phone signal in room. Large room, but TV position really awkward and not flexible. View from street level directly into room Upon arrival, staff presented a narrative about the room, that it nearly qualified as a junior suite. Perhaps to sweeten the deal, because I would perhaps recommend the hotel to others but certainly not that specific room. Having been in Portugal for 2 years, and travelled a lot in Portugal, I would argue the hotel and staff is well above average but overall there is a mismatch in price Vs quality.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was amazing even though we had no view. The only drawback is that it was next to restaurant so if you wanted to sleep early (not our case) it would not be good.

Pros: Mimosa: large, comfortable room with great, private bathroom across the corridor- almost like a suite! Good breakfast delivered by sociable host around a communal table so good multilingual chat where possible.

Cons: Small bathroom The streets at night can be noisy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and the communal kitchen/garden with breakfast items and fruit was fabulous
10.0 Excellent
Pros: check-in very good, the decor very fitting to the age of the building, Kitchen facilities good, very good and friendly Staff exceptional, location very good.
Cons: Lack of recycling bins in the kitchen means all rubbish goes out in the same bag, no cutlery other than knives only, this was in the rooms kitchenette only, the main kitchen very well stocked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place! We enjoyed the garden and the kitchen with its simple but nice breakfast as well. The location is very good and the staff is both professional and helpful. If you gonna stay in Coimbra, stay at this place!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Receptionist was extremely welcoming and friendly, recommended many nice places to visit that would have missed otherwise. The location is near the university with plenty of street parking. We really loved the beautifully restored old building with wonderful living room as a place to relax and have some coffee with pastries. Really wonderful place.
Cons: Everything was really good. We lived in the triple room on the third floor and it was lot of stairs to climb:) but we didn’t mind the exercise.
6.8 Good
Pros: Definitely economical choice.
Cons: Bathroom very small, shower very tight.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to the university of Coimbra, fully equipped kitchen stocked with enough food items to make own continental breakfast. Staff members were very friendly and more than willing to provide recommendations on where to eat/ what to do in the city. Also, the room rate was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.
Cons: Getting to the hotel from Coimbra station is a ~20 minute uphill walk, but getting anywhere in Coimbra seem to require an uphill walk. I’d elect to take a bus or taxi. Walking back to the station is not an issue whatsoever since it’s all down hill.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: My room on the top floor was small, but very well equipped: spacious wardrobe, quiet air conditioning and quiet fridge, new bathroom. Room has enough power sockets and lighting options. All three nights I slept well, nothing and nobody bothered me. There are many cafes and restaurants around. Historical sights are within walking distance. The hotel has a huge kitchen-dining room with modern equipment and superb coffee maker. It's great for a quick breakfast the day you leave early. Behind the kitchen there is a nice patio with flowers, orange trees and sofas. Hotel manager Raoul is very polite and pleasant person, always ready to help. And he speaks fluent English.
Cons: Smell of aromatic sticks was too much.

Pros: A very uniqe place with beautiful surounding! A huge room with style and character. Clean room and helpfull staff. Big and beautiful garden with a little river beside it. Great breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Characterful rural property with a beautiful garden. Room was cool and dark due to its position under a verandah. E xcellent breakfast. Friendly owner
Cons: Due to the age and nature of the property there was a musty smell. Very noisy creaking floor above us and plumbing above noisy too!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The Quinta was a pleasant place to stay, a comfortable room with traditional furniture and good bedlinen and a new bathroom, It has rather strange surroundings but an attractive garden with a good pool and a nice country view. The owners are friendly. Breakfast is standard fare. We found restaurant im Lousa 'To dos Frangos' to be extraordinarily good value, massive portions very cheaply, beware the is a Locals section which is fun and a normal restaurant. 'Vilha' not quite so cheap but the delicious pork shin could easily have fed three!
Cons: The disadvantages are that, after a long tiring journey it was very difficult to find using GPS and the nearest restaurants are over three miles away in Lousa. The hot water supply is temperamental despite the fact we were the only guests. Wifi coverage is poor.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very well decorated room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff very helpful and respectful
Cons: The farm is very small and dos not have restaurant for diner or lunch.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great room, silence, great garden en pool, very nice breakfast and tasteful dinners. Perfect place to come to rest.
Cons: I was travelling by public transport, than the location is a bit outside but still manageable if you use taxis. For 2 dinners, 1 lunchbox and 1 clothing washing I paid 60 euros what is a bit high to Portugese norms.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This place is set in farmland on the outskirts of Lousa and has great rustic charm. It is a good base for exploring the local area and is a very comfortable, quiet and relaxing place to stay. This is probably mostly to do with the philosophy expressed by Filipe (the son of the owners who met us on arrival): 'when you come through our gates you are at home'. Guests are genuinely trusted and encouraged to treat the property as their home. All the rooms are decorated with an individual theme, are comfortable and immaculately clean. The grounds are lovely with lots of places to sit quietly or to socialise with others. The pool is good for a cool off after a long day. Breakfast is simple but fresh and tasty. We also had dinner on one of our nights stay, enjoying fresh local cuisine and the company of some fellow guests. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet place, nice areas to relax and great breakfast.
Cons: Nothing at all

Pros: Our stay at the Quinta was a special treat for our last night in Portugal. I loved the setting, the woods on the property set the stage and we had a lovely walk there. The staff were all extremely gracious. A massage in the spa completed the experience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Gardens were beautiful, staff delightful, food was great.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and the welcome were fantastic. Both swimming pools are great, the outdoors one is outstanding. Gardens around the property are beautiful for a walk. Food options inside the Quinta are good.
Cons: Spa rooms are a little outdated and need a renovation (A/C, bathroom...) Breakfast was ok but not superb.
7.0 Good
Pros: they have a few dining options, we went with the 'gourmet' meal, a multicourse deal with a good deal of molecular influence. Don't do it unless that's how you want to spend your entire evening. We started at 7:30, ended around 10:30. They also do a bbq, which I kind of wish is what we'd gone with. Be sure to get the 'tree' dessert, though, quite something. Thorough breakfast.
Cons: longer hours for the internal pools
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good and the staff are amazing
Cons: I was a little disappointed with the facilities at the SPA
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful environment, comfortable rooms and beds, nice swimming pool.

Pros: Grounds are amazing and history woven into the experience in a nice way. Great staff, great location although not any need to go elsewhere if you just want to kick back.
Cons: Food service was a little slow, although quality was very good.

Pros: Big room (we were in one of the suites), HUGE bathroom, great breakfast and friendly staff. I wish we could have stayed a few more nights.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good, provide nice fresh bakery and different choices, friendly staff
Cons: We were traveling by car and we were looking for places what proved safe parking and we choose this place before of this, but unfortunately there wasn’t any place to park on the property and we head to leave our car on the street parking. Luckily we didn’t have to pay because we stayed on the weekend, but if we would stay longer I even need to pay for it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room looked amazing! The bed was comfortable and the bathroom spacious and clean.
Cons: The coffee at breakfast was pretty bad. We've indicated this at checkout and they informed us the machine will be replaced.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely building and our room was spacious and very comfortable and clean. The location is good and close to the university (albeit uphill) and a 20 minute walk into town. A good breakfast was provided.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Helena, the young lady on charge of the hotel, was delightful and very helpful. This prompted us to stay an extra night. Location next to old cathedral was quite special. Cafe attached to hotel of good standard with very pleasant staff.
Cons: Initially thought it was more like a hostel than a hotel but we soon felt at home through the charming host and we came to enjoy the informal setting. Room quite small but adequate for a couple.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were really friendly and helpful, you get a free Port wine on arrival
Cons: The only thing I can complain about is the noisy street and there is a construction site 50m air distance which was really annoying
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and welcoming staff, the guy at reception waited for us until midnight because our flight was late. Cool location in the middle of the old town, bars and food around.
Cons: There seemed to be a problem with the bathroom of our room, but nothing that can't be fixed.
7.5 Good
Cons: Loud party way beyond midnight. Problem for people who want to sleep.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I gave some extra points because our room "se velha" had an absolutely outstanding view. The hostel itself is regular, but I didn't expect to get the most romantic night in Portugal at a 50€per night hostel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is simply amazing and the hostel is one of the best in the world. Quiet, comfortable and very very cozy. Staff did a great job to meet all my needs. Good job, guys!
5.0 Okay
Cons: We booked 5 nights in a double room with a window. We received a room with a window facing 8 air-conditioning engines 1 meter from the window. We asked to change the room or cancel the deal. Afther conversation with the manager she did not agree to cancel the name of the Room is : D. Dennis there is a deception here because there is a normal window in the pic. from the hostel And the whole issue of air conditioners is hidden. There is unreasonable noise and heat from the engines when you open a window. not recommended.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, staff very friendly and helpful and the room and bathroom were clean and comfortable.
Cons: The hostel could do with more of a communal space or bar area. There is a communal area with courtyard with a few chairs and table and fridge but unfortunately no sink or communal bathroom. We checked out in the morning but weren't leaving until the evening so could have done with somewhere to hang out for a few hours in the evening but there was no communal bathroom - this would improve the place to stay I'm sure!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located centrally within a 10 walk from the University and pedestrian area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best view from our room. Nice personal. Everything clear and new. Really close to university and local pubs and restaurant's.

10.0 Excellent
Cons: Cheap and cheerful couldn't ask for more
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Only the location.
Cons: We arrived in Coimbra around 11 am, we could only check-in at 15 pm, although it had been confirmed that a check-in between 11 &12h in the morning would be possible. Nowhere in the conditions it was mentioned that the check-in was from 15h. So we had to leave our luggage and there was no safe, closed room to store the luggage. Although I sent them a mail and got confirmation that a safe luggage room was available. We had to leave our luggage in the reception room, where everybody could come in. The beds were very uncomfortable, the pillows were simply awful. They had a very bad smell and they were wrapped in some kind of hard plastic. Airco only worked when we were in the room, it made a lot of noise so we couldn't leave it on during the night. The bathroom was so small, especially the shower. We could hardly turn around, and we are both very slim people. There was a lot of noise outside during the night. The hotel hasn’t got any sound isolation, we heard everything from the other guests.

Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked the good location few minutes walk from historical city center, the big double bed in the room, reasonably good breakfast as well as smiling and helpful staff.
Cons: Although it is Ibis standard, the room was too small. I'd also prefer to have hand towels in the bathroom, not only bath towels. It is good to have hotel's own parking but it is paid extra 6 EUR per day. We did not have any other negative observation.

Pros: Great view of the river. Nice location.
Cons: Parking garage is very tight when driving unfamiliar rental car.

Cons: Some noise from building work outside room window.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very friendly. The room was comfortable and very clean.
Cons: An electric kettle in the room for preparing coffee or tea would have been great.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bedroom is quite good and the bathroom is good too. It is very close to the train station and a 5 minute walk from the Igreja de Santa Cruz. It is a simple hotel but it is good for its price. They have breakfast for 4 euros but I have not tried it.
Cons: Since is on the lower part of Coimbra it is a little far from the University and the high part, but it is possible to walk all around.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location Had a lift
Cons: Very small bathroom Lack of English skills
4.5 Okay
Pros: The hotel is very good located, few minutes from the railway station, near the historical center and you do not have stairs or slope to climb, in thev way. The property is situated at the 2nd floor of a building but there is elevator. I had a private bathroom that was clean enough.
Cons: There were ants in the room. The bed was not confortable and the staff was inhospitable. The fridge was durty and stinky. I put a sandwich on the table and in few minutes many little ants were near it. I moved a little the desk to see if there are many ants there and I found a lot of dust and durt. The same was behind the nightstands. The price was too big for what is offered.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The only good aspect of this b land b is the location.
Cons: I would not recommend this to anyone. we arrived and the smell of garlic and cooking was overpowering. The sheets did not look clean, found some hairs. At night the noise was terrible we ended up leaving at 7 am .
