Its closeness to sea and beach. The breakfast coffee comes out of a machine. It seems the milk is made of milk powder and presweetened. The brew is simply not drinkable - horrible to be precise.
Enormously large rooms; very clean; good quisine;
I think the Hotel staff was very nice
Excellent location by the beach. Poor breakfast.
Ocean view in all rooms, big rooms, good breakfast Car is a must!
The hotel smelled a lot of cigarette smoke which made it un pleasent.
The location, you can't beat it for a beach holiday.... great place for a relaxing holiday with nice friendly. Food in the restaurant was also good - although the bright lighting could put you off.... The bathroom was nice and spacious, but the water was very slow coming out of the tap. Apart from that everything was excellent - decor slightly dated.
This is a total "chillout" hotel with an unbeatable outlook over the Atlantic. Superb massive pool and sunbathing area which you have more or less to your self. You can fall out of the back of the hotel right on to the beach. The food and drink were very good and also reasonable in price. Cannot praise the place highly enough for anyone wanting a good rest. Couldn't really fault anything and would certainly return.
The staff were very helpful and polite; every evening there was a vegetarian choice on the menu; the menu was very varied in price, the food was good quality, nicely served, the desserts, though, poor selection but to be fair there were not many people staying so may be it would be different in high season. The view is great over the ocean. Public bus is available to get into Sintra.
Good to rest from crazy world. To pay for the pool...
The hotel has a 4 star outlook but in fact everything there is very disappoiting. The quality of the service was unacceptable, the beds were cheap and uncomfortable, and outdoor swimmingpools are tiny, the sauna and turkish bath do not work properly (turkish bath has a stinky smell). The hotel is not convenientely located unless you want to go there to play golf. I had booked for two nights and then decided to check out after the first day.
The reception staff were very helpful. The indoor pool and facilities were good. Room was clean and shower was great. The buffet only menus with no warning were a shock. No other restaraunts nearby without driving.
The room size Noisy clean services in the hallway and other rooms well be 9am. Poor service at the pool, lack of armchairs and toals at the pool site. Pool area to crowded and not taking advantage of the lawn area
My experience was that hotel and staff was family (children) friendly and tolerant. My two boys loved it which was exactly what I'd hoped for.
The area is very quiet and relaxing plus the staff is really helpful.
indoor en outdoors pool, excellent breakfast buffet. Centrally located for excursions to Sintra and Lisboa. The address of the hotel that booking.com provided turned out to be incorrect. For those with GPS, it should be: Rua Mato da Mina no. 9 in Sintra.
The staff were very helpful and all spoke very good english. Anything you wanted they were happy to assist with...they gave us everything from booking a table at a restaurant, maps and specific directions and phone numbers and contacts if we got lost! The hotal was beautiful! no, i can't think of anything! everything was great!
Needed a car as too remote
Relaxing enviroment, nice views to Sintra and friendly staff. Too crowded. The pool and dining room could not cope with the nunbers. No sunbeds left and had to que to get breakfast. Also could not have dinner as it was booked by other residents - the dining room is too small.
The calmness and the friendlyness. Very nice place to stay
The location was perfect!!! Walking distance of many castles and gardens. Spent 2 days just in this area of Sintra. Great bang for the buck (euro). the gym was nothing to write home about.
We liked the location, staff were really nice, good breakfast! The view was spectacular! A little bit old but overall nice hotel
the view and the location of the hotel. Hotel needs a refresh. Smells old when you enter into the room
wonderful view. Best location. Wifi was totally terrible. Even right beside the router. Needs new carpeting, bedding and paint job. Concrete construction not in keeping with the charming surroundings of sintra.
Staff attitude of older Reception gentleman and Waiter in Restaurant - your General Manager and I have exchanged emails on this topic
It was very close to the centre of Sintra, and the staff on reception were very helpful. Nothing....everything fine.
Location and parking
Great location for visiting Sintra. Breakfast Buffet was good with varied choice. We have children aged 10 and 11, not sure the hotel would welcome much younger children.
Excellent central location, large comfortable room, helpful staff
Great location! Parking is below the hotel and requires some fairly in depth maneuvering skills!
The rooms are nicely decorated with a nostalgic 60s and 70s classical feel with lots of dark wood furnishing. View from room is great. Nice firm bed. Location excellent. Quality breakfast. Parking and safe is free! The staff at reception could be friendlier.
The friendly staff and excellent service
i will never ever book with you again or recommend your company . the hotel is excellent and i have no complaints what so ever. they are five star but bookings. com is not
Lovely, friendly accommodating staff in true Ritz Carlton style Set in a lovely green pine forest, but a car is required to access any other amenities, including the beach (25 minutes away) or Sintra itself (20 minutes).
We liked very much the variety of restaurants and the enormous spaces in and out of the hotel, the best restaurant to visit is the arola, the golf clubhouse, great food very sexy & friendly staff. We can name it the hip place of penha longa but then for middle age people. Due to it size of it the maintenance is always a bit of problem in this type of hotels, although in general it is perfect, except for the light bulbs in various points are out of order and need to be changed. Also the so named cinema room is very poor, the sound is of the middle ages, so please change into a modern communication video center of real cinema with a selection of films clients can choose. Another aspect is the so much praised Japanese restaurant, well this is the weakest point in the concept, how can you run a Japanese restaurant with Portuguese cooks, impossible mission, please close down the place of hire the right cooks or make it a fusion restaurant were east meets west. The food was not that great.........so a minus one.
Beautiful hotel and grounds. Lovely room and service. I preordered a taxi to hotel citadela cascais to pick up a car and was told that it would cost around 10 euros. Whilst I was waiting for the taxi another man at the hotel was also waiting for one. The driver charged me 19 euros. (he said this was because he had to make a call to the hotel). However, the other man at Penha Longa arrived at the same place and had paid10 euros
Ít was such a blast staying at a palace. The help was exceptional. Felt good to be the queen for two days
Nice and comfortable, but might be too expensive...would be good for special occasion.
We loved everything about our stay here. We would highly recommend it! The hotel and hotel grounds are beautiful. It is perfectly located to visit the area.
Beauty, peace and tranquility
It is a very romantic and beautifull place, staff was very friendly and room was very clean. Beautiful view and excellent food.
Fantastic Location Food was not up to the standard of the hotel
This is a magnificant hotel. It is beautifully decorated in sumptuous 19th Century style. The efficient and friendly staff are wonderful. The breakfast is fabulous. The location close to Quinta Regaleira is nbeatable.u The bar prices are *slightly* pricey for Portugal.
The woman at reception was terrific. She her English was first rate, and she was intelligent and witty. We also greatly enjoyed dinner. The shower was a little funky.
the setting in the hills was very pleasant shower was slow to drain and flooded the floor, children running about at 11.30pm
Location and amenities excellent. Hotel employee at the front desk were excellent... Courteous, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent, good quality and selection.
Staff were amazing, so much so that we swapped our Lisbon stay for two more nights in Sintra. Restaurant outstanding. The view from our room was outstanding. Concierge held parking space, gave excellent local advice. Truly a wonderful stay!
Don't stay anywhere else in Sintra. This is the best. I've been to 28 countries. Seasoned traveler---amazing hotel. No
the clean room and the environment, staffs are helpful, the tram on Saturday the matress and the bed cover are not comfortable
Garden and pool were ok. Some like it, some don't, but the 70's interior is a real eye catcher, but then again nothing has been updated in 30 years.
The Hotel was very clean and the bed was confortable.Although the Hotel is situated on the side of the road, being winter it was very quiet. The beach is about 15 minutes walking distance. The Hotel needs central heating. Although the room did have one of those air-conditioning/heater fixed on the wall, on my arrival I wasn't aware of it and the room was cold, more so the bathroom. The following morning, when I went to the restaurant for breakfast it was also cold and there was no staff around. The Hotel is dated. It needs pictures on the walls and some warmth. Parking is also difficult at times.
Simple but clean hotel. The lack of parking space in front of the hotel can be a problem when you arrive later in the evening.
The grounds are nice and the hotel is clean and comfortable. It was good value for the money. The hotel is not loacted in Sintra; it is approximately 10 km away. There is a bus line, however, with a stop just outside the hotel. If you arrive at the hotel before 1 pm, you can use the bus, avoid trying to park in Sintra, and still have time to visit the castle and tour the town. If you arrive in Sintra by train or bus, another hotel may be a better choice unless you plan to stay for more than a day. Prepare to take a taxi (or bus and learn to read a schedule) to this hotel.
The room is very clean. We had a double room, the size of it is fair and there are space for my toddler to walk about. Plus the bathroom is quite spacious with a bathtub instead of a small standing shower like most hotel in the cities of Europe. There is also a big courtyard with swimming pool. The location is very quiet. The view from our room is the woods which we like. The reservation building is currently undergoing a remodeling. We did not try the food in the restaurant & the breakfast. So, no comment on that. We had breakfast as cafe at Praia das Macas (Beach area) which is about 1km from the hotel. There are a few seafood restaurant there as well. The location of this hotel is great as it is 10 mins drive to Sintra, probably 15-20 mins drive to Cabo da Roca (western most point of Mainland Europe) and 2km away from Azenhas do Mar which is one of the viewpoint. And look out for the hotel on the left of EN375 if you are coming from Colares or on the right if you are coming from Praia das Macas. Will definitely stay here again. The hotel rooms are in buildings away from the reception building. However, it is just a short walk. Not a trouble to us.
price smells and looks like former hospital, no balcony
VIP Miramonte has a good outdoor swimming pool with beautiful gardens. The rooms were very spacious and had TV, and Air conditioner. With its beautiful surroundings, the hotel and its facilities very much reminded me of my high school dorm in Connecticut. Its in Colores, which means you do need a car to visit Sintra, and move around.
Freedom to come and go The Stairs on third floor in annex with no lift
The furnishings take you back in time some 30 years, but the room seemed clean. The good thing after a long day of sightseeing - the swimming pool Could hear the neighbours far too well
friendly atmosphere and excellent service. good food. All very good, but suggest you supply each room with bathrobes. Nice especially in the cold season
Our room although decor needs minor attention (broken curtain hooks) was delightful and very comfortable
The area of Sintra is beautiful and well worth an overnight visit. The food was not to my liking. They attemped Nouvelle Cuisine, but as a former restaurant owner, it was a serious disappointment.
Very well located, nice staff and very much 'in line' with the atmosphere of Sintra.
the overall charm and quality
The buffet breakfast was excellent, our room was large with a lovely view and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
wonderful room and suite combination with views over the countryside, very helpful staff at reception and dining room, food good quality with attentive service giving extra information regarding wines when asked refelecting the price paid. peaceful stay despite very busy sintra over easter weekend.
Am member of the International Byron Society which is having a conference in Valladolid in the week beginning 27 June 2010, very academic, and intend to give excellent commendation for delegates either en route to Valladolid or after conference is over.
The amazing view!!! The great location and beautiful room.
The location and it's sense of history. Also the various sitting rooms in the hotel. And that unlike most hotels in Portugal, they can make a decent cup of tea! The bedroom was adequate but nothing fantastic given the star-rating
Really large room with stunning views. Very helpful staff & a PC with free internet. Great breakfast too! Taxi drivers do not find the address easily, but there's nothing you can do about that
To have use of the living room on the first floor for enjoying the view along with a bottle of wine. The backyard bird aviary, rabbits and dog were so much fun to interact with. Would have prefered the breakfast start time would have been earlier than 8:30a to allow a better jump start on the day.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Convenient location for accessing Moorish Castle and Pena Palace on foot if you don't mind steep walks.
excellent breakfast room was too cold
Very comfortable, well appointed room, with pleasant view over countryside. Good service and helpful staff.
We really liked open space and nature. Very soothing. The hotel staff was very nice. The room was very moldy--too much humidity i guess. I strongly recommend that they will install fans and dehumidifiers.
Quinta Das Murtas will offer everything a 2,3,4,5, star will not offer you......and thats true Portugese charm and charachter with all the comforts. A truely quaint and tranquil place to be in....which follow's true traditions.....
Breakfast was fresh and offered variety of products including no sugar products. Shower was very poor, water takes long to warm up, one of the rooms we had the water was not hot at all. We also had problems with one of the doors which was not locking properly and needed a hammer to fix it. We booked to rooms double and ended up in a twin room as theer was an oversight by the hotel. The hotel is located in a area that offers very little place to park, it has space for 3 cars in the premises. Outside it is not possible to park more than 3 cars to park with the inconvenience that you need to park in the bottom of a hill by a bend.
Nice little Quintas a little bit up the hill but within walking distance of Sintra City - where everything is a little up the hill. Friendly staff! They gave good recomendations which of the palaces you definitely need to see - Regaljera, by the way! :-) Good breakfast in great atmosphere!
the hotel is located in the centre of Sintra. Excellent starting point for doing a sightseeing tour. we lived outside the hotel in an external appartment in the garden. Due to humidity the rooms are musty-smelling.
Easy to reach the ocean. Nice terrace. Staff didn't speak and understand English. They had so interesting discussions that they didn't notice us.
Very large room Comfortable bed friendly Staff No telephone in the room
the quality of the accomodation was fine. mosquitos were the only real problem. We needed to leave doors/windows ajar and consequently got ravaged!
amazing people, very quiet, great location pity there is no sea view in some apartments
The apartment was very well equiped and clean on arrival. The proximity to three beaches was excellent. Staff in the hotel were very friendly. The fact that checkin was not until 4pm was a nuisance however staff kindly held our bags and we were allowed to checkin early
Friendly staff, clean room, quiet place, close to commercial center with shops and restaurants It´s hard to find place when you arrive by car, hotel doesnˇt visible sign
The proximity to the Autodromo, the friendliness and efficiency of your staff, the secure underground car park, and a feeliong of being a valued customer.
Booked for a simple bed room, received a double bed. Breakfeast without available fruit.
Just a quick walk to shopping centre where there was also a huge food court if you didn't want to take the trip into Cascais, for which there was a nearby excellent bus service or cheapish taxis. Air conditioning was a little boisterous and only worked on full - no medium or low. Room was well soundproofed against outside noise but the noise inside the hotel was horrendous at times. You could hear everything going on in rooms well down the corridor!
Gorgeous old mansion with large rooms. Amazing breakfast included...they even made eggs to order and fresh toast. Beautiful pool and gardens. My hot water stopped working, but the nice filks fixed it within 10 minutes and unlimited hot water from there on out. Slightly outside of town, but that is what made it so peaceful.
