Very friendly and helpful staff. N/A
Nice bed and design of the room, perfect internet access No possibility to open the window (for me personally very bad, because I am pregnant and all the furniture, carpets etc. were new and still evaporating (toxic?) vapos; air condition in the entrance hall and breakfast room were much too cold!!!!
Clean modern hotel. Very comfortable Queen sized bed Plenty of room in the shower. Non found
It is just valu for the price. The room was rather nice and neat, but it was not sound-proof at all. We couldn't get sleep due to noises from hall way. The location is not for trip with family or leisure purpose, since it is located in the middle of industrial area. But the staff, facility, free breakfast were fine. very noisy at night. no facility for fax and print.(we asked to print our boarding tickets, but decliend.)
Aircon in room didn't work
Very handy for purpose of visit to Corby. Staff very friendly. Will consider staying infuture when in the area. Buffet breakfast was good although a bit confusing trying to find everything that was wanted.
was a business overnight stay as working in the area. Excellent value especially as breakfast free. Will be booking again next week
very professional and courteous
The comfort of the room and the facilities. Very helpfull staff. Large "party" in the bar area which closed the restaurnat at 6.30pm. Children and adults running up and down the 2nd floor rooms passage way some couple of hours after mid-night which meant sleep was not possible until after 2pm.
Staff on arrival extremely helpful. Very good atmosphere, enjoyable stay, even if only for one night! Nothing bad to say about any aspect of our booking or stay at the Hotel.
the pool etc and rooms.
Location easy to find good parking, breakfast was a buffet overall good value
Ease of access, nice interior, calm & peaceful shower in rm 240 was not very good
Excellent service good facilities friendly /helpful staff Booked on line so was not entitled to a refund when a colleague cancelled - I found this very disappointing as I had booked 3 Double rooms, and then overheard the receptionist tell another customer there were no Double rooms left? Very disappointed if my 3rd room had been reassigned then as a good will gesture Holiday Inn could have at least offered some vouchers to the value of the room - be fair. Also disappointed with the local taxi services £20 for a 7 mile 10 minute journey 1 way is unacceptable - sort out your local cabs
We came up for a conference at Kettering over a weekend period and the hotel was very quiet. This was excellent for us - the staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are a little tired but comfortable, but I believe they are about to be refurbed. The gym facilities appeared very good but the access used by normal everyday members was the normal fire doors to a corridor in the hotel - which were left wide open, which I am sure in summer time it would be fine - but in the middle of winter was freezing and put us off using the facility due to the sheer coldness - maybe an entrance lobby could be made for this area - would maybe be a little more enviting.
expensive bar and snacks
The overall experience was very good No
Proximity to the Rockingham racetrack. That is the reason why I go there. Parking facility is large for my van and motorbike and staff is very helpful Room next to me was occupied by a very noisy couple of people.
The location was ideal as we had to be near the International Swimming Pool. Plenty of parking but did not get time to use spa facilities/restaurant. The room could be bought up to date e.g modern TV, furniture fittings etc. - though this did not spoil our overnight stay
Hotel and staff very friendly and helpful, room excellent Restaurant very poor, Fawlty Towers' comes to mind, lets down the rest of teh hotel.
Loved location views one the best English hotels I have stayed in especially for the star rating given. The bed was very uncomfomfortable you could feel the springs left me with an aching back.
Not bad (See above remarks) The swimming pool was not open till late and also I found the going up the stairs to get a toweland also to book in at the desk was a bit of a bind.
Walked round Rutland Water and visited three local towns.
Excellent discounted tarriff, good breakfast, quiet room. I could not print my confirmation and reception had me booked in for the wrong night!(12th Nov.) However when I returned home and checked my confirmation it had the correct date the 11th. It was fortuitous that there was a room available
Location & views of Rutland Water
the hotel and the fantastic location, cant wait to go back. no
Sadly the experience with poor quality expensive food and bad service in the restaurant coloured other aspects of the hotel The food is of very poor quality for the prices being charged. Service in the restaurant poor - beggars polite description. Very small room that would be inconvenient for a stay longer than a couple of nights - no area to relax in other than the bar that was small for the numbers even in November!
The beautiful view from our room over Rutland Water, waking up to that view each morning made our day, and the staff who we had met previously and who made our stay perfect. Nothing to dislike.
Lovely gardens beautifully kept with views over the water. Very good swimming pool available free to guests. Improved service in restaurant. No
The view of the lake and the friendly staff The bedding - one sheet and a blanket is not enough in November should have had a nice duvet. The hotel was in separate buildings - reception in one, bedroom in others, Restaurant in yet another.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very good value for money. Good restaurant with a good selection of wines. Nice atmosphere everywhere. Confusing breakfast pricing system. Uncomfortable ricketty child cot.
convenient for a family reunion poor communication between staff, instructions not passed on
I was impressed by the exceptionally friendly disposure of the staff - especially one very helpful lady in the restuarant.
No smoking rooms and Hard access to smoking areas
The hotel was very convenient for a meeting we had arranged. It offered a good size, comfortable room at a reasonable price. Breakfast was also very good.
the spa facilities were lovely, great way to relax
Friendly Staff Had to send my Dinner back on Sunday, uncooked dissapointing after a long journey
Breakfast Yes several things:1) the fact that I rang the hotel to enquire about a reservation and a particular rate and was told it did not exist. I have since learnt it did. I booked through late rooms as their rates were cheaper!. 2) I had a serious complaint about the rate and the room and I am still waiting for the hotel manager to call me .................
All the staff we met were welcoming and considerate.
Breakfast. Anaemic sausages!
Rooms very comfortable and spacious. Very quiet, no noise heard from the rooms next door. Breakfast was ok....could maybe have done with a little bit more choice; maybe more fruit or pastries. What we had was good though.
i didnt like the fact that i left my i phone charger in the room to discover house keeping staff have taken it!!!very annoyed
The Staff were efficient and friendly The toaster was faulty at breakfast but other than that I could not fault the service.
We couldnt find any fault at all with either the hotel or the staff who were exellent which is why we booked your hotel at kettering Cannot find any bad points
Check in was excellent... Active hotels hadn't sent booking through when we rang active hotels the person dealing with was useless. The receptionist at Holiday Inn was great she really put things right. Breakfast has improved now at holiday inn express with scambled egg and bacon the problem on three days the egg was gone the girl was very very slow to react and needed telling so there was a delay because she had to go and cook it!!! 4 times they ran out of spoons!! One of the drink despensers for the orange juice was giving out very weak water all week! And probably still is! An otherwise brilliant hotel spoiled by lack of attention to detail
Excellent hote, very new and staff very friendly. The rooms were more than adequate although the hotel was tricky to get too off the roundabout.
Uncomfortable bed - kept rolling into middle of bed
The room was very nice and ready to sleep straight away. There should be a microwave available for heating up of baby food etc..!!
Everything was excellent from start to finish ! When I arrived there was no record of my booking (booked online). I had printed out my confirmation - quickly dealt with, staff apologetic, a room quickly found for me. Luckily they were not fully booked!
The staff were very good, food very good & super central location. It was warm in the room (below freezing outside). Very comfortable bed & bedding. We were in room 45, the Hayloft, it was seperate from the rest of the hotel (not a problem) but the low celings were. I have lumps on my head to prove it & I'm only 5ft 7ins. Our friends room in the mail building vas fine.
The quality and attention to detail of the room furnishings and the general attitude and service provided.
Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms Car park was too small
Our room was absolutely beautiful and extremely spacious. It was great value for money and very handy for Stamford centre. Our room was located in the Cottage, across the courtyard from the main building, the whole property is lovely and feels very secluded, and romantic. There was a wonderful breakfast provided in the morning and check out was a bit later than usual. We would definitely stay here again. The only downside of our lovely room was that our enormous king size bed was in fact 2 single beds pushed together which left a huge ridge running right down the middle of our bed. This made it very uncomfortable! Also as we were checking out we found a notice written in very small text on the back of our key packet that we were entitled to a complimentary round of drinks in the hotel bar on our first night in the hotel. No one had mentioned this to us or pointed it out which was a bit annoying as we had had a few drinks in the bar.
Room was cold - no heating and window open. Wet shower meant that the bathroom was unusable after showering. Very small room. No space in dining room, had to eat in annex. Room access key expired before departure time.
Location, bar Smell of food in rooms in main part of hotel
Good location for centre of Stamford - friendly helpful staff especially restaurant booking by web-site did not reveal room allocated was on top floor of town house - not suitable for unfit over 70's. Room was moved to hotel (room 4) but situated opposite to premises to disco that played loud music until early hours on both nights of our stay
The bed was very comfortable and the food at the hotel was very good.
central location, facilities in the hotel, room size and comfort, special discount rates
Very nice large room, good food in restaurant. Excellent location for town of Stamford. Radiator wasn't working properly - and it was bitterly cold. They did provide an electric fire. Bathroom very small, not much room to move around.
Good selection of food and drink, along with Sky Sports in bar area Nothing
We had a good airy room on the ground floor, near to facilities. The check in was quick and easy, staff very friendly (important to us). Breakfast was reasonably priced and good value. We really enjoyed our stay and intend to visit again as the hotel is convenient for visiting family in Kettering.
Nice, clean room, friendly, helpfull staff.
Disappointed with restaurant and menu Road noise and very noisy floorboards!!!!
There was a football match on at the football ground nearby and there were no parking places at the hotel car park, I had to sit in waiting traffic for 20 minutes before I could park up.
The staff were very friendly and helpful - particularly Amanda on Reception and Laura in the Restaurant. Unfortunately, I was visiting a seriously ill brother in Corby. I pre-booked my rooms but had to change them and was not allowed a refund. I realise this was explained on the booking form, but I lost 2 nights B&B. Perhaps a part refund could have been offered. However, I would stay again because of the staff.
The room was larger than expected and of a high standard. The staff were very helpful and never had anything other than a smile for guests. Food was of great quality too.
Room of a very good standard. Breakfast buffet good value, resturant meal in the evening just ok.
I would like to say thanks to the lady who was on reception on the night of 6/07/07 for being so understanding with my prediciment.
pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff n/a
Staff friendly & professional, breakfasts excellent, ensuite magnificent No window outlook to the bedroom ( this room was attached to the main house), we assume the other rooms would have such outlooks. The room itself, whilst clean, was a little crowded and the decor somewhat out of date.
The food was excellent Bit cold getting from room to hotel resturant
Room was nice, staff friendly, did not get to use many facilities but they appeared satisfactory. The quality of the breakfast could have been slightly better, meal was slightly under cooked.
The food was excellent The bed was uncomfortable (room 37)
very pleasant staff and good food room was a bit noisy due to people upstairs, would ask for different one next time
Have stayed here twice and will place the hotel on my regular list of places to stay.Great value for money;superb atmosphere;ample free parking with friendly staff eager to help as required.Excellent meals and all round pleasing. Nothing
Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Courtyard setting very relaxing. Slightly understaffed for dinner / evening bar.
Good location with some excellent views of Rutland Water in distance. Room was comfortable; well appointed bathroom; very comfortable double bed. Some staff a little indifferent; breakfast service was patchy; room make-up did not replace used items,
Room was large, comfortable and well-appointed. Location beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast very good Evening meal over-priced
Early check in was really good.
clean, comfotable, good location and good breakfast and value for money.
The rooms (we booked 2) were lovely. The staff were very friendly with good advice about the local area and the breakfast was great and plentiful. The area was lovely and it was so peaceful and quiet you didn't feel like others were staying. The pub nearby was nice as well.
Excellent value, very nice room and good breakfast. None
The rooms were so lovely. Also on arrival we were made so welcome and informed of all facilities.
A fantastic hotel in a very quiet location. Could not find any faults
Clean modern facilities in good order The heating struggled to cope on what was admittedly the coldest night of the year, particularly the unheated en-suite and corridors.
My friend and i enjoyed our stay at the hotel - it was clean and warm and the barn conversion added an extra special element to our stay. It definately served our purpose and we will be staying here again later in December 2010. The home cooked breakfast in the morning was great too and set us both up for the day. Thank you!
A warm, clean room. Excelent breakfast. Polite staff/owners. Internet had failed on the night I stayed. Mobile phone coverage is bad. (Neither of these were the fault of the hotel)
The refurbished bedroom and bathroom were well appointed and comfortable. The public areas especially the bar area were badly in need of an update.
Loved the room, the freshly cooked breakfast and the helpful staff Unfortunately, freshly cooked breakfast means a very long wait if you get down to breakfast just after a party of 17. Ok if you are just having a break but no good if you have to be somewhere.
Comfortable bed and good towels. Good car parking. Room dreary (203) No tissues in superior room. Poor housekeeping--light bulb broken in dark entrance to room.Very slow service of meal in Bar.Public areas extremely tired.
Very friendly staff, attentive and good mannered. Excellent service and quality of food in the restaurant. Nothing.
friendly lovely place
The hotel is in a lovely location and we all enjoyed our stay.
Bar menu, value for money Restaurant menu limited and expensive.
the price and friendly service
Well priced in a beautiful part of the country. Shower was defective and soaked me and the bathroom twice.
The dining room [dated 1604] and the quality of the food. We felt it was too quiet because of lack of visitors due to weather, floods etc.
Great personal service from owner and staff
Pleasant and accommodating staff Price of the evening meal for the main course not value for money
hotel was quiet, with a comfortable feel and the atmosphere was very plesent
Welcoming, clean and comfortable, lovely old room. A background noise, like a fan, not the en-suite, that ran all the time. it was only noticeable at quiet times, but spoiled a perfect room a little.
As we only stayed one night it is hard to really comment.
Reception staff very helpful Cost of breakfast very poor value for money. Could not accept American Express.
The friendly and informal atmosphere and the food was amazingly good. car park a bit on the small side, tv in room outdated, bathroom needed updating
Friendly service. Quiet. Very good dinner and breakfast No
Nice breakfast and very good location for rutland water.
Close to place of work Noisy and shared bathroom facilities
The Bar and Menu were the best part £55 for camp bed!!!!!!!!!
Evening entertainment [ piano] the meal Book in and the bed
Good food, friendly staff. Could not connect to the free wi-fi even after having to go down to bar and ask for the password. this was one of the main reasons for booking this hotel.
Clean and bright, all facilities working Breakfast should be included in price, was a bit noisy on Friday and Saturday night
The Raven is in an ideal location for Rockingham speedway, the staff were friendly and the room was a good size and clean. a bit on the basic side but you get what you pay for.
There were none
The staff was very helpful, the night I was there the weather was very cold out side but my room was warm and cosy and I would certainly book in again when I am over that way again.
Hard pillows & noise from club next door
Close to conference No breakfast available Sub standard rooms Building in need of repair internal/external
Great location and terrific style in public rooms. Howerever my room - whilst comfortable - tiny tv though - was a bit like a travel lodge in layout and feel. Appreciated the table lamp which was definitely not travel lodge. Would go back but was looking forward to something a bit special and was disappointed.
As an aviation enthusiast and appreciator of period architecture this was a superb experience. As a hotel stay, there are no negatives but you have to be mindful that this an active aerodrome site and therefore fairly remote. The surrounding area is pretty bleak, although this view may be influenced by the snowy weather during our stay. The nearest sizeable shopping location is Milton Keynes which is a 30 minutes or so drive.
Well apointed modern room. Lovely food. Friendly & helpful staff The room was a bit small
Excellent value for money
Very friendly staff, kitchen was closed when I arrived but the waitress managed to concoct a very nice ham sandwich.
The rrom was spotless and well furnished, the food and breakfast were excellent and I highly recommend the Full English!
Nice atmosphere good staff and ideal for Market Harbour A litre expensive £65 plus £9 for breakfast is hotel prices
One of the best value hotels I have stayed in, a lovely place There were none
A real gem. Clean, comfortable, contempory, quiet rooms. Excellent food in a lovely pub. Easy to find, plenty of parking. None.
Food and service were excellent None
The staff, service and breakfast were fantastic! We could hear the next room's shower from our room but this wouldn't put me off staying again.
Friendly and good service by young staff Both rooms, although very nice and clean were very small with the door opening onto the car park area(not private). The kitchen extract fan / smells were discharging onto the front of the annex accomodation. No presence of owner / manager to meet/ greet.
Very friendly relaxed atmosphere not just a number the rate is important for business travellers staying one or two nights
Great people. Excellent service. Walls were too thin and as there was a wedding on we didn't sleep much!
The staff were very helpful. We didn't have much of a veiw in our state room, we reserved a table for dinner for 8.30 and didn't get seated till 9.15. Staff were very sorry, and we got a complimentry drink.
Swimming pool is great. Rooms are great. Okay - small point - tv remotes don't work that well
gym facilities dining expensive
The staff were charming even though the Hall itself is a little worn around the edges. The food is terrible.
Historical impressive building, in a countryside setting. Bedrooms had fantastic size bathrooms. Nice spa. Staff would benefit from some customer training in the bar and restaurant.
Beautiful building and setting Hotel was rather cold in the evening
Great staff, good food and excellent historical environemnt Rooms were a little small and water temperature was too cold
