Very convenient for the town and easy to find. Parking on site and English speaking staff who were both friendly and helpful. Our room was very dark; dark furnishings and energy conserving light bulbs which, whilst admirable, meant that we had huge difficulty in finding our way round the room. Finding clothes in the wardrobes was nigh on impossible!
It was a perfect location with walking distance to the centre of Auxerre. The staff was helpfull and the room was quite big.
Very friendly welcome from the owner - genuinely nice to our children - and very comfortable family room. Interesting gardens.
Quality of the food and wine, courtesy of owners and staff, delightful breakfast. A little difficult to get from carparking area to front door with baggage.
The location was good as a convenient one night stop over point from Calais to the South of France and they offered a Family Room for 2 adults and two children. It was somewhat confusing regarding the evening meal. They did not have a Restaurant as such but one could order a meal at Reception to be seved either in the Dining Room or on the Terrace or in one's own Room. The 'Waitress was a Trainee and that added to the confusion. Some guests were unaware of the procedure and waited in vain for a Menu at the table and failed to be acknoledged by the trainee waitress.
This hotel reeks of Napolionic History, just my style!
The hotel staff was very pleasant. The swimming pool was a wonderful fringe benefit at the end of a long and very hot day. There was too much furniture in the room (Superior).
This is a first rate hotel located within a five minute walk from the town centre. The room was beautiful and the staff very courteous and helpful.
Everything! THe pool was great! I liked everything, tho breakfast (which I didn't eat) could be a little less expensive.
Excellent breakfast. Lovely views from our room which was very comfortable.
It was surprisingly nice interior, ver well presented and comfortable. Internet access. Adequate buffet breakfast. When we initially saw the outside of the hotel, which is old, we were a little worried, however, we discovered later the exterior was in keeping with the history of the area. Parking at the rear for a fee. We had booked the hotel as a overnight stop only. However, we visited the tourist information centre about 50 metres down from Hotel at the suggestion of the receptionist. We did a free walking tour following "Cadet Roussel's" plaques set in the footpath and discovered very interesting facts about this interesting historical town. We drove out along the River Yonne and viewed the locks where to canal boats pass through. Liked it all. Well situated across from River Yonne. Not a fantastic view but given the history of the city and the River it was wonderful to be part of this town.
Attentive and helpful staff. Comfortable room. Nothing
Our first night in France and this hotel was part of the memory. Beautiful old hotel in gorgeous setting. Wonderful nighttime photo. Thank you.
Staff were excellent. Lack of parking facilities, especially for disabled people.
Location, polite friendly staff, very comfortable kingsize bed, cleanliness, good buffet breakfast, 24 hour reception service, view over river. If stay had been longer than three nights, would have appreciated more drawer space in room.
The friendly reception staff . No
location, comfort and cleanliness of lobby and room, free internet access in lobby, nice parking facility
Auxerre is worth the trip, historical monuments, fine food, nice country side and do not forget to visit the tourist bureau very close to the hotel, to expand your activities. Please write at least 15 words
The staff was really amicable and helpful. When our child got sick during the night they helped us find a doctor and pointed us to an open pharmacie. The breakfast was a bit pricey and no cheaper alternative.
Very good service, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable rooms.
no where to eat. room service only
The hotel was really comfortable and attractive and the welcome by Cyril at the front desk and his ongoing help was outstanding. No
The Room Smelt Damp amd unpleasant
Great location, close to town and near restaurants, bars etc. Paying €7 for car park and bath very slippy - had to use a towel to stand on for fear of falling in bath.
Excellent location and very clean hotel. Staff very friendly and breakfast was lovely. The beds were very comfortable. None
Comfortable room, easy access to garage and secure parking so we did nit need to unload major suitcases
Furnishing of room was adequate and very cleqn and good size. It was near enough to points of interest; sights in the old town, preferred restaurants and marche. Private parking avaiable at decent price. Chateau de Challanges, ouside Beaune, was a much better value for the same price.
Quiet location but close to the centre of Auxerre. Breakfasts were substantial with a good choice. directions to the hotel were too vague and led to us and other guests we spoke to, getting lost in Auxerre
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable
The Hotel was clean and the staff helpful, as we were only staying for one night en-route to Italy it was ok. I would not wish to stay for longer as it really is a budget hotel.
friendly staff cramp room and toilet facilities. poor breakfast.
We liked the situation of the hotel and its proximity to the main roads. The staff were very friendly and the facilities easy to use. No
Friendly check-in (if you arrive before she goes home), room for 4 people at €39 is great value, good buffet breakfast Small, well-used rooms, tiny bathroom, no charm at all, surrounded by other low-price hotels on an industrial estate. You wouldn't want to spend much time here, but for overnight it is fine.
good for road trip. Needed an overnight stay before we arrived in Paris. no
Easy to find and only suitable as a stop over, located next the motorway for easy get away and next to a couple of restaurants within 2 minutes walk I can only describe this (hotel) as a portacabin with a portaloo cubicle inside to and shower and toilet, if your nimble enough you could sit on the loo, take a shower and brush your teeth all at the same time, I used it for one night with 2 kids and the wife and that was enough, if your on your own then it would be fine, used by a lot of workers on stop over, very basic breakfast amenities.
Staff were excellent. Single beds were very good but double bed suffered from "roll together"
Stayed for one night only. Everything you'd expect of budget accommodation.
Very basic accommodation, at best Not clean to expected standards, and bathroom crummy and smelly. Lack of ventilation/extraction a problem.
The force of the water in the shower. The third bed in the room wasn't made.
From a less welcoming location the day before this was a transformation. This is a working wine producer and provides rooms that are more functional than luxurious but there was a welcoming comfort, wine tasting and rustic food that will guarantee a return. And really good value. Couldn't stay longer!
Excellent food, with fabulous staff. Very good price and certainly highly recommendable. Everything was good.
Pool area. Relaxed atmosphere throughout the property. Friendly staff. Generous amount of Domain Wine included as part of the evening meal. There were no bad points.
The very remote location was a blessing and the family who own the vineyard were very friendly
Great hospitality, lovely location, great wine No non-meat option for the evening meal, was a shame
Excellent kitchen, great staff and good beds. We really enjoyed the stay.
The setting was very good and the wine cave tour / wine tasting was excellent. The evenng meal was beautiful french fair Whilst we had a great meal / evening it is B&B style, not your typical restaurant. You eat with everyone else
Great atmosphere, food & drink at dinner. No frills but good value
Although I made a mistake in my booking date, the owners did all they could to organize two rooms and three dinners for us. We stayed in the Gîte and we liked it so much that we think about coming back next year. The food and wine were very nice too.
the turist service by the hotel staff
The pleasent place.
The owners were nice and one of them spoke English. It was nice to have a terrace of one's own and air-conditioning in the room. There was only one restaurant at walking distance (11 min) but luckily it was excellent serving (French style) Greek food, and the hotel personnel kindly reserved a table for us. The hotel is very well sign-posted and easy to find. The room was small (with too much furniture) and the toilet+bathroom combination was an open-at-the-top kind of closet that allowed all toilet noises to be heard in the room and made the room very humid after showering.
Pleasant staff/management Rooms quite adequate for a very short stay.
This place was really odd. No windows that opened; not a great location for anything and just weird. It was expensive considering what else we found afterwards.
airconditioned for summer, pretty gardens, well presented breakfast not close to any resturants, especilly Monday and Tuesday nights
nice flowers around the motel 60ies style cubicle bathroom with poor shower and no sound isolation between rooms
Room was small, bathroom was tiny and breakfast was adequate.
Friendly proprietors, Wi-Fi, loc\tion
Clean, quiet, nice landscaping Rooms very small, basic.
Etap is better value for money
The staff were very pleasant and helpfull. It was very conveniently located off the autoroute.
Located just of the Autoroute, was convenient, practical and the staff friendly. The rooms were standard campanile as was the food. Disappointed that the room drinks facilities were well below standard. Not sure it was twice the value of the cheaper chains.
- L'odeur insupportable de la chambre et de la salle de bains
Standard Campanile - predictable and good value. Based on just one meal, the cuisine is below par - my salmon was very over-cooked.
The proprietor was friendly. Restaurant pricing was reasonable, and the restaurant service was good. The toilet bowl was stained dark brown, which is unacceptable. The room was cold in May. The room was tired and required deodorising.
Everything about the hotel is attended to with the very best attention to detail. The room is quite small, but certainly comfortable for an overnight stay.
Very basic, miniscule bathroom, but clean. Fancy restaurant in the hotel was massively over-priced and mediocre as was the meagre breakfast.
We liked the accommodation with a good clean comfortable room with good en suite facilities. There was a fridge, television and hairdryer. The bedrooms were in a separate block at the back of the main hotel with adequate parking. Although the restaurant was well laid out the food and drink tended to be rather expensive. The breakfast was rather sparse for the price paid.
it was in a great position in the countryside near the heart of the chablis region. It was expensive in terms of the gourmand menu and wine list. There was also a strange dish on the gourmand menu which seemed to be a very large bowl of yoghurt!! otherwise really well cooked though little aloof.
Beautiful hotel where we had an amazing room with fire place (standard room), the owner is the sweetest lady (speaks only French). If you eat here you eat with other guests on a long table and have an amazing evening.
The peace and tranquility of the setting, the secure parking and the attentive hostess.
Le petit Manoir is a little heaven on earth run by a great couple. A very romantic place to stay. Very comfortable bed and a formidable cuisine.
Clean and comfortable. Room rather small.
Comfortable room, friendly, great location, everything worked. It was not obvious that reception is manned only during certain hours
There werer too many things culturing up the place - I dont' mind old fashionedbut this was llike an antiqyue shop.
Friendly staff but we used it only as a base for travelling around the area. Lots of wine etc we could have tried but didn't have the time.
The location is excellent , rooms are large (for France ) and comfortable with some very good bars and resturants in walking distance. We found the staff (owner ) unfriendly and on one day our room was not even made up, came home and had to clean and make the bed etc ourselves, there was no apology from the staff or owner when we complained.
Old fashioned but comfortable room. We arrived at the same time as another guest, late Sunday afternoon, to find there was no-one at the hotel and none of the phone numbers answered, except for an answering machine. After almost an hour I found the local tourist office was open and they had another number for the owner who answered and gave me the code to enter and find our room. She told me she would arrive within an hour. No staff showed up until Monday morning, at breakfast, which was something of an inconvenience for us and the few other guests. Even on Monday morning, there was only one person who was looking after breakfasts, and to settle the bill. Although end Sept, this was unexpected, and would have been a disaster had the information office not been open.
One restaurant was reccommended as being the only one open. This was incorrect. In the event our reservation was not passed on to the restaurant.
As the hotel is classified 2 Stars only one would not expect too much, The comfort and services were just adequate but not more. Based on this the price was too high.
Bathroom very small, toilet very noisy, shower v slow
Quiet, comfortable room. Hotel well situated in the centre of the town close to shops and restaurant. Nice breakfast, good value at 7.5 Euro's. Bathroom could do with updating
