Pros: Location, Staff, Food, hot spring, view. It's the best tradition Japanese hotel I've stayed in. Great place for anime lovers, families and travelers. Staff were helpful and Kind.
Cons: The lack of an Air purifier. It was easy to see the dust and particles in the air making it difficult to breathe.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good location just beside the JR Station. Good hot spring to relax.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice atmosphere. Beautiful hotel. Next to the train station. Try the sake brewery at the other side of the street. In the village there are many elements of a popular spooky manga serie: fading streetlights at night, funny statues. Try breakfast at バード (street: 72-2 Eimachi)
Cons: Time to get there: last 25 kilometers takes 45 minuten by train or car! In the evening the village feels deserted.

Pros: very nice and friendly staff. no problem communicating in english
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic value, wonderful staff. Spacious, clean tatami rooms. Onsen was clean - went twice!
Cons: For those who didn’t know: you will sleep on a thin Japanese style futon. This was mitigated by the tatami though, I did get a good night’s sleep. Also - be aware that you must ride a bus to this onsen resort area from Yonago Station.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The breakfast was amazing! This is Japanese Kitchen at the best! We loved the massage chair in the room! The onsen was a dream! Just one minute walk to the beach from the hotel!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Although the staff can speak little English ,they go Beyond to accommodate our needs. We ate our breakfast and dinner in a private room. Food was excellent. The onsen was great too. Four of us enjoyed our stay there.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The dinner and breakfast is so great, and I think I would come here again. The staff is very nice, and they tried their best to teach us how to wear the kimono although we could not understand each other's language.
Cons: There is no elevator inside the building and I carried a very heavy luggage this time, so it's a little hard for me to move this luggage to the room on the second floor. And the staff English is not good. When we wanted to add some dishes during the dinner, they could not understand.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good service from the staff even though their knowledge of English was very limited. Room was large and looked recently renovated.
Cons: Pillow was a bit hard.
Overview Reviews
Sanrakuso(Tottori) is located in Daisen and takes about 50 minutes by bus from Yonago Station, near Mt. Daisen and Mt. Masumizu Kogen Ski Park. It takes about 20 minutes from the hotel to Yonago Airport by taxi. Yukata are available for guests to wear during their stay. The hotel possesses 13 guest rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My partner and I just spent two nights at Sanrakuso, while we were visiting Daisen-ji and Mt. Daisen National Park. The location of this vegan Ryokan couldn’t be better - it is just a few steps from the entrance to Daisen-ji. The rooms are spacious, the hospitality of the staff is responsive and friendly, the baths are clean and well-maintained, and the whole place is generally kept clean and neat. The free WiFi is fast. Now to the best part - the food focuses on locally grown vegetables and wild greens of all kinds, and is really a treat! For a wonderful experience of a traditional Japanese Inn, come to Sanrakuso!
Cons: Everything was wonderful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We are not vegetarians, but this was hands down one of our favorite meals of the entire trip. If you are staying ABSOLUTELY do dinner and breakfast at the ryokan. We didn't hike Disen during our stay since we decided we were hiked-out from doing Mitokusan the day before, but we noticed that they have this awesome option where if you are planning to get up early to hike, you can let them know the night before and you can get your breakfast to go. The bath was wonderful, the staff was very friendly. We honestly had no complaints. The view from our room was absolutely beautiful. Even if you aren't hiking you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery and spiritual feeling of the location.
Cons: This is more of a warning than something wrong with the ryokan, but be prepared to roll your bags up a VERY STEEP road to get to the temple! When you get there you DO NOT have to take the steps. There is a ramp the the right you can take to get to the entrance of the ryokan. Do not make our mistakes! :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staffs were very hospitable and considerate. Though facilities and building were old, it was clean and tidy. Especially vagitarian dish was very satisfied Taste and amount were just right.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The spa facilities were super relaxing and were stocked with luxury amenities like shiseido cleansing washes and emulsions. The sansai shojin ryobi dinner was one of the best kaisekis I've had in Japan! So generous and delicious, I enjoyed every single dish. I suspect the tea was also first flush it was so aromatic and smooth. The futon bedding was also super comfortable and plush. The location is right next to the entrance to Daisenji and a 10 min walk from the bus station. Very centrally located and easy to find. The service was also excellent.
Cons: Due to being a Buddhist temple inn, the overall hotel is very ascetic and a bit weathered. There were also lots of bugs that you would feel bad killing in, against, a Buddhist inn.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: ambience, traquility, food, hospitality
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The vegetarian meals were delicious. Very close to Daisen Temple and the shrine.
Cons: The heater needs to be turned off when sleeping for safety reasons, so the room can get quite cold in the morning (air con still works during the night but somehow not that effective). Otherwise perfect stay.

Pros: The owner was very considerate that I was one of two travelers that night and let each of us stay in a private room (I believe we had each booked to be in a dorm). The check in experience was really good I felt like everything had been explained properly and the owner was happy to give recommendations with instruction on how to get there. Contacting the owner was also very easy and they were quick to respond to any questions.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was absolutely lovely and so was the owner. I got the best most amazing local reccomendations of restaurants and places to see. I really enjoyed my time there much more than anticipated.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hostel is near the railway station. Beds are good. Rooms are very cosy. Washroom, toilet and kitchen are clean and comfortable. Free coffee and tea is available. You can have breakfast nearby. Owner speaks very English very well and is friendly and helpful. He gives you advises what places you can visit. He brought us to the ferry terminal and helped us to to buy a bicycle. It was very spontaneous and so great! Thanks a lot!!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: - After a 2 day ferry trip we were allowed to drop off our bagage in the room before check in time! (Allthough i should have asked why we were not allowed to use the room yet as it was ready. - the traditional japanese style inn - the suggested restaurants by Ken were good.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The host are the greatest host I ever met.

Cons: The door of the bathroom on the 1st floor was broken though ㅠ.ㅜ
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a really cute, nice hostel. The beds were super comfortable, everything was clean, and the bathrooms all had a nice selection of shampoos and bath products. The owner speaks excellent English and really went above and beyond to be helpful. He gave me great advice about places to visit and routes to take. The location is also excellent. It's an easy walk to the train station and downtown and has parking nearby. I would definitely recommend staying here and visiting this cute monster town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ken is just a very helpful and nice owner. He knows how to make your trip easier. Destiny Inn is very closed from the sea and from Shigeru Mizeru Ave. Close from every commodities. The place is clean and you feel like home. We will not hesitate to come back again if D e had a new trip in Japan ! Clém & Arnaud

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good hotel restaurant for dinner as we arrived 7 pm and we did not order food beforehand. Breakfast was just ok. Pretty and tidy room with sea view. Location is a little far from town and so it would be good for driving to hotel with free car parking. Good onsen and hotel is quite new.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beachfront on a good swimming beach !
Cons: Nothing !
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Bed and beding
5.8 Okay
Cons: The most terrible breakfast I ever experienced in Japan. The restaurant smells , and only 1 girl busying to take care the entire buffet. Everything's cold ! The room still felt good. But I have to spend over 20 minutes to release the tub of water after bath when I found the bathroom was drown. It still drowns when taking a shower.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything especially the onsen.
Cons: Wish there was an in-room delivery service.

8.4 Excellent (1,045 reviews)
Overview Reviews

9.5 Excellent
Pros: the hotel is very close to the sea, and we enjoyed the view very much. the public bath is nice too.
Cons: there is one window without light screen, and it woke us up at sunrise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location with stunning view of the Sea of Japan. I rented a bike at a nearby hotel and rode a few miles along the Sea to Summit route. Superb onsen with perfect and hot water. Staff were friendly and used Google translate to help me as I speak no Japanese. Did not try the food and made my own breakfast in room.
Cons: A few more open restaurants would have been nice but there were a few pretty good ones nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facility was fantastic!!
Cons: Onsen!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Just want to extend a big thank you again to Mr. 福田純 from the front desk. I had pretty complicated travelling needs on my day of departure and Mr. 福田純 painstakingly helped me arranged everything down to a tee. His attention to details is impressive.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great resort with a fantastic breakfast! The raw egg on white rice and soy sauce buffet is delicious. I don't think I've ever had 2 entire bowls of white rice for breakfast before this. And the breakfast sets are a great variety as well. The relaxation room is to die for (there's 3 massage chairs and I've fallen asleep in one of them). The bathhouse is where I went to bath and shower every day. This was partly necessity as the bathrooms included with the room are tiny and rudimentary at best. I think that's because people in Japan just use public baths for all of their bathing needs. Bonus: all toilets in this hotel are equipped with a seat warmer!!! So comfy. Lastly, all the rooms come with a north (water) facing view. In fact, all the best places have north facing views making this a very well thought out hotel layout. Lastly the staff was helpful and friendly every way. We traveled with an infant and the hotel accommodated us very well considering how much little flexibility we had. We chose a tatami mat room and it worked great to have our little 4 month old on the futon so she could sleep, play, and hang out with us. We asked for a crib but didn't get one but it didn't affect us at all. The baby chair at the restaurant was excellent for our toddler, so I know they have the facilities to handle families with young children very well.
Cons: Asked for a crib but didn't get one. If you're a stickler about needing one, be warned that you might not get one. Bathrooms inside room are tiny and spartan. We were late checking out and incurred an additional charge. Our own fault for being late an hour but I don't think I've ever paid a late check-out fee in my life.
7.0 Good
Pros: Hot spring
Cons: The bed is not comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast.. I love the breakfast so much. Beautiful sea view.. Wonderful service, they always willing to help and helpful, they will try their best to answer our questions. I love the sea view and the hot spring so much. I love this hotel very much. A perfect hotel.
Cons: They can understand a little bit English.. Difficult to communicate, lucky they used google translate.. They really try to answer our questions.
7.5 Good
Pros: The ryokan is ok, with everything one would expect from a normal standard Japanese ryokan.
Cons: Kaike onsen itself is not a particularly attractive place. Compared to many other onsens in Japan, the place is not worth visiting. There are many better choices, even in the same area.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff is very helpful.
Cons: The hotel has two wings, but connecting corridor at basement which needs to walk stairs.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location and sea view from room, comfortable and adequately spacious room. Clean onsen area and good breakfast. Friendly helpful staff.
Cons: At time of stay on a Wednesday before golden week, the area was quiet-several nearby restaurants were closed.

Pros: Only one block from the bus stop and large Tatami-mat room with Onsen style bathing area. I splurged myself for an in room massage for 6,000 yen/60min. It was one of the best I had for a long time.
10.0 Excellent

Overview Reviews
Located in Yonago, Kasuitei is a 5-minute drive from Yumigahama Park and 5 minutes from Yonago Castle Ruins. Featured amenities include luggage storage and an elevator (lift). Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: nice service and the staff is very polite. They are willing to tell you all the facility in the hotel! The room view & the dining are perfect. The bed is comfortable.
Cons: It is quite early to have heating in the room. Quite hot when I go back to the room after hot spring.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is grand and nicely decorated. The onsen was excellent - it's spacious and bright. The staff were kind and helpful and provided great service.
Cons: When I booked the room, Booking.com congratulated me on getting the best rate. The plan did not include meals so I requested the hotel to provide breakfast and I was willing to pay the extra costs but was shocked to be told to pay JPY3780 for it. When I asked them why so much they said it was a room with no meal plan so for getting breakfast, it's a different plan so they had to charge me an incredible price. Unfortunately, when I got to my room, I thought it was the least desirable room in the hotel. Most rooms overlook the sea but mine overlooked the car park. The room looks old and dark and the bidet never worked. It was so disappointing and the breakfast (as you can see from the picture) certainly didn't look like it is worth JPY3780. Perhaps I don't really understand the rationale behind their pricing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Public open air baths & location & proximity to beach & hotel generally
Cons: No restaurant for breakfast
9.3 Excellent
Pros: they offer free bread and coffee to us in next day morning

Pros: Happy hours one free drink
7.5 Good
Pros: Spacious room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is very comfortable and affordable. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The lady speaks very great English and she is just wonderful
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff are very nice! Also, it is good that the living place is near the seaside, I could have a relax walk nearby.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very well located to enjoy the local private and public onsen in this small thermal station by the sea. Well equipped kitchen to make our food, and modern washer/dryer to continue our holidays with cleaned clothes.
Cons: This small town may be a bit dull outside of the touristic season, with very limited options for restaurants.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean - both the room and shared bathroom were spotless. Fridge, TV and WiFi in room. Of course, this is budget accommodation and so considering this, I think it's good value for money.
Cons: However, the design of the futon cover means that there is an area of the quilt exposed. As the quilt is not washed every time, I would have preferred a futon cover where the quilt is completely covered. The walls between rooms are very thin so you can hear your neighbours. We had to ask the people in the room next to ours to be quiet. The hotel owner said that she could also send a staff member to ask the people to be quiet. It was good to know that someone was present in the property for security overnight.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good experience
Cons: No
7.5 Good
Pros: We were booked at the annex building which is across the street but we were given a room in the main building instead. Accommodating staff and very cozy place to stay. Our room is a little tight for 3person, but comfortable and enough for the price. Checkout is a breeze, just leave the key at the mail box at the front door. Shared kitchen is awesome. you can cook and prepare your own meal. you can rent a bicycle for a minimal amount for one whole day to get around.
Hotel Daisen Shirogane - Daisen - Building
18
8.4 Excellent (31 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Daisen Shirogane in Daisen, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Daisen Makiba Milk no Sato and Daisen-Oki National Park. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hotel front desk staff were so friendly and willing to help. Near the lobby is a souvenir shop and coffee machine (JPY 200 per cup). The shared bath is not hot spring water, but still such a relief after spending the day climbing and hiking in chilly weather. Our Japanese-style room was large, we were 2 persons that stayed in a room that could fit maximum 5 persons. Comfy futon and tatami floors. Not much of a view from the room window, but that doesn't matter much since we were to spend most time outdoors, far from the hotel. Our dinner was fantastic - it was a work of art how they presented and prepared the food. We travelled in autumn, so there were many foods of the season. We gladly ordered the set of 3 types of local Mt Daisen sake to go with the meal. Highly recommend to take your room with both breakfast and dinner. Nearby the hotel, the tourist information centre (also near the local bus stop, "Taisanji Bus Stop") is well stocked with hiking trail maps - in many languages including English and Chinese. The staff there, although not fluent in English, also helped to suggest hikes for our short stay. Hotel also offers takeaway bento (great to eat at the summit), but needs to be reserved in advance. Recommended to depart the hotel to reach Mt Daisen summit early! Don't miss the last bus down the mountain!
Cons: The bus schedule was not frequent enough for our liking - we were coming from Kurashiki. To catch our breakfast at our previous hotel, we had to skip the morning buses (7-9 am), we took the next one which departs from Daisenguchi Station at about 3 pm. This doesn't leave us enough time for significant hikes on Day 1. Next time, we'll stay in the nearer towns before coming to Mt Daisen, or stay more nights on Mt Daisen.

With a stay at Kaiho Guesthouse Katsuzo - Hostel in Yonago, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Yonago Castle Ruins and Minatoyama Park. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: It’s just a 10-15 minute walk to the station and staff super friendly and returns emails very quickly.
Cons: It’s a very basic guesthouse. There’s only one shower for everyone to share, it’s best to buy a ticket at the local onsen and use the facilities there. The guesthouse itself isn’t so obvious as the name on the door is of the coffee shop so have a look on your map to make sure you’re in the right spot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like owner and theire smiling. Peoples are nice. I will visit againe
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed there as the only one guest here. I felt as if I had got a privilege to own this place. I could check out at 11 am which is one hour later. Nice points of Katsuzou • Traditional style (150-year old Japanese house) • Automatic sensor for light switch • Wide bathroom • An Electric blanket • Heater • A clean toilet
Cons: It’s quite far from Yonago station.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were helpful when they were around. Common area are very large and clean. Decent location, not right in the center of town but not too far, and quiet.
Cons: It is in an old building, so while there is AC in the bedrooms, the common areas got very hot (and probably would be cold in the winter). Overall adequate facilities, but the interior has not aged well and given that, a bit expensive compared to other similar hostels.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very specific visit for the Air Show at Miho, not sure till last minute we were going so wanted to book the cheapest place we could find. As it happened, the people at he guest house were amazing, both the owner, and the guests, all went out of their way to help with our lack of Japanese. How to get to the shops, how to get to the station, and where to park. Room was cosy even by Japanese standards, and of course full, but public rooms were fine.
Cons: The washing and kitchen facilities were a bit basic even for a hostel. Just about OK for one night.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff. Nice Japanese-styled room. I could relax greatly there.
Cons: I went in the winter. The water for the shower was cold.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff. The place is well located. Near station and many commerces, restaurants.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice Staff and very good location
5.0 Okay
Cons: A lot of the place could do with a clean.

Cons: It's a bit pricey compared with it offers
