What are the pros of staying at My Place Hostel?
The hostel is located only five minutes off O'Connell Street and in walking distance to Temple Bar and other cool locations to go out. Main bus station is also within 5 minutes walking distance. Staff at check in and out was super friendly and nice! Clean, tidy and very friendly and accommodating staff. I had a small issue on arrival and they worked to resolve it for me very quickly even though ‘technically’ it was my mistake. Bright and spacious shared area with microwave to cook your own food. Bedroom was clean and spacious with space by each bunk to have some of your stuff there. Very friendly and helpful staff, room was pretty big and clean. Hostel is quite close to the centre, it can be reached by walking easily. I also appreciated the table with chairs in the room. Great for a one night stay, price for the bed corresponds with the quality of the hostel. Helpful staff 0-24, great location, nice breakfast. The people were very nice, especially Olga in charge of the breakfast/coffee!:) it was all good apart from the bed..
What are the cons of staying at My Place Hostel?
The upper bunk bed should have had a railing and it wasn’t nice been woken up at 4am by a rooster. The beds were not really comfortable and honestly quite dangerous to climb, especially for small people like me. Considering how big the room was, I was shocked to find out there were no lockers in the room. The bathrooms are located in the basement, so the room is very cold and very dark. Showers only run for few seconds, so you have to keep pressing the button all the time. Most toilets were out of order or the toilet seats were missing. The whole hostel feels like a maze and the double doors are making it even harder to walk around. The WiFi was a disaster! They tried everything, even restarting the router, I restarted my phone & my laptop, but no matter what I still couldn’t connect. The mattress that I slept on was, in my opinion, a fairly uncomfortable and poor quality mattress. Furthermore (and as I kindly regret to inform): Although I was pleased to find a room with shower, toilet and washing basin next to the dormitory room, unfortunately, the shower couldn't work properly because the wall support fixture was not functioning. Finally, it was somewhat awkward or cramped because I could not find space near my bed to put clothes and personal belongings. The worst place to stay. Staff are racist and extremely rude. Bathroom is cold because in underground. There is no heater at all. Dirty and uncomfortable place.
What are the best features of the hostel's location?
The hostel is located only five minutes off O'Connell Street and in walking distance to Temple Bar and other cool locations to go out. Main bus station is also within 5 minutes walking distance. Lidl for grocery shopping is literally only 2 minutes away. Location close to city centre, kind staff, super hot showers, big mirror in the room, a lot of power outlets close to bed(at least mine), food and drinks dispenser in the common area, bus stop to the airport in front of the hostel. The location was Perfect in the center. The location were perfect to me. Everything available at walking distance. Hot water was free and available. The location was very good. The beds were not really comfortable and honestly quite dangerous to climb, especially for small people like me. The reception lobby. Nothing, beds are really bad, mattress you are sleeping on it is not mattress anymore, all you can feel are iron springs and the base is terribly shaky. There is no water tap except in the toilet. Lights are never fully off. And they charge full price for years now..
What are the common concerns about the hostel's cleanliness?
The worst place to stay. Staff are racist and extremely rude. Bathroom is cold because in underground. There is no heater at all. Dirty and uncomfortable place.
