Pros: It's charm of the 1940 room, spaciousness, cleanliness, and excellent staff and location.
Pros: Traditional look a bit different to any other hotel. Makes you feel homely
Cons: Restaurants nearby close very soon. Need to plan accordingly.
Have never stayed in a B&B before, would definitely stay here again. Went hiking about 5 miles from hotel.
Pros: very quiet.
Cons: small tv
The B&B and Mercantile is fine and except for the massive County wide power outage, we enjoyed our brief visit. However, the staff pretty much closed up shop at 5:30 pm on Sunday evening and the rest of the town closed within an hour or so. Fortunately, the owner showed up and was thoughtful and engaged enough to bring camping lanterns, so we could find our way around SAFELY upstairs. This safety issue was something the staff failed to grasp when they sent us up the stairs in the dark! Kevin, the owner, was also gracious enough to offer to BBQ for the hotel guests, if we could not find a restaurant open. As luck would have it, the McCloud Lodge had a generator, so we were able to enjoy a nice meal outside on a warm summer evening. After dinner we found every other establishment in town closed, so it made for an early evening in a relatively dark hotel room. The electrical power was restored around 9:00 PM, but the cable TV and Internet service were still down when we left the next morning. Breakfast, which we understood to be 'included' cost us a few dollars, because in reality, we only received a $20 'credit' towards breakfast. Not the end of the world but a bit misleading. The food and service was fine. Given the overall circumstances, I do not believe we saw the B&B and Mercantile or the hamlet of McCloud at its best. Perhaps on a Friday or Saturday evening the town would be open for business, massive power outages being the exception. I suspect will give it a other try someday, but not on a Sunday evening.
Pros: The B&B met our expectations.
Cons: We arrived around 4:30 pm Sunday evening and right after check in the power went out throughout the entire County. Therefore, we had to deal with this unfortunate situation. The staff seemed rather befuddled, until the owner arrived.
Pros: The character and feel of a 'new' hotel from an earlier time remains due to well thought out remodelling.
Cons: Could use another chair in the room.
Above the Mercantile stores which were fun to browse. Very low key and informal check in. Not many places to eat dinner nearby quickly but we did get a recommendation for a restaurant that was a 15 minute walk away. There were more formal places closer but they were fully booked. Breakfast was in a small excellent diner on the same premises that was unfortunately only open for breakfast and lunch
Pros: Unusual and unique rooms- very big and comfortable. Would be a good place to stay with a group of others because of the communal central area.
Cons: A bit more expensive than we would like to spend normally but it was our anniversary. The communal area between the rooms was nice but was noisy when a big group arrived and sat and ate there.
Enjoy your visit to McCloud with a stay at McCloud River Mercantile Inn. Guests looking to stay active can check out the nearby hiking/biking trails, kayaking, and mountain biking, and free perks include continental breakfast.
Pros: Large rooms with 2 separate sinks
Dual access: Hallway to main lobby and outdoor access to up-front parking
Pros: Close to Highway 5.
Cons: Pricey but demand is high. So, can't blame the hotel.

Pros: A beautiful location with cozy accommodations.
Cons: The food at the restaurant was a little overpriced for the quality.
Cons: Check in doesn't begin until 4 pm
Make sure that you bring snacks and drinks with you. There is nothing out there... had it not been for the hotel restaurant (that closed at 9pm), we would've been so hungry.
Pros: I loved the location! It was like having your own little cabin, but still looked and felt like a hotel room. Staff was really nice.
Cons: The room seemed a little dated. For the price that I payed, I was expecting a little more. However, the sights really made up for that. The coffee maker was falling apart, and the plastic Champlain flutes were filthy.
Pros: Friendly staff, great scenery, nice golf course and restaurant. Tuesday nights there is music in the bar area....good place to meet the locals and chat. Wish that we had booked the resort for a longer period of time...

Pros: Great, romantic setting. It was wonderful learning about this history of this town and historical building. The grounds are park-like and a wonderful view for the fall. Great breakfast and the ladies here really make you feel welcome. We would definitely return!
Pros: We were warmly greeted. Our questions were not only answered, but we were given a map of the town with directions to places. - Excellent breakfasts started out with a great fruit salad that was very fresh & sweet. We also had use of a fridge & microwave on the main floor. - The B&B was a short (2-minute) walk to the main drag. No traffic nose.
Cons: Nothing negative.

Within walking distance to restaurants . Nicely maintained.
Pros: Friendly staff. Clean environment. Good location.
Cons: No elevator.
Pros: very clean!
Cons: not as many options for walking to get a meal
Exactly what we needed for our short stay.
Pros: Good sized, clean room and bath; quiet, walking distance to town.
Cons: Limited breakfast but planned to eat in town anyway.
Pros: Fairly inexpensive. We had a group of 3 and they offer a triple room.
Cons: Heater was loud and challenging to control.
When visiting Mount Shasta, Swiss Holiday Lodge is a great choice to consider. You can get a morning swim in at the seasonal outdoor pool, and the spa tub makes for a relaxing end to the day. Rooms feature conveniences like refrigerators and microwaves.
Pros: The price is low. But there is a reason why...
Cons: The room was very cold when we arrived at 3:30 pm. The heater was turned all the way down. After turning it on it was very slow to warm, and 3 hours later was still cold. I contacted the management expecting they might move us to another room (many were empty). But, instead he provided us with portable heater and told us that he would check the heater the next day. I have been to other hotels in Mount Shasta over the last 25+ years. I won't return to this one unless I see that it is overhauled.
And, I think this may be only the second hotel I've been ever to which does not supply coffee.
When visiting Mount Shasta, Evergreen Lodge is a great choice to consider. Free perks include WiFi and self parking.
Cons: Where to begin? Pictures online VERY deceiving! First off, the AC did not really work - you will go to bed sweating! Individual unit in each suite - so old the cover actually fell off when we turned it on! Makes noise but doesn't cool. Bed wasn't clean either - discovered long black hairs all over pillowcases. Towels provided were stained. No fitted top sheets - just a sheet thrown over old mattress, which means you'll wake up on the old mattress if you shift at all in your sleep. And the beds - so hard it even hurt my teenager's back! Property ran down over all - carpet worn back exposing hard sharp metal in between bathroom and bedroom floor. Tub was dirty as well and there weren't any window coverings in bathroom windows. Good location but not worth the money - will not stay there again!
Pros: flatscreen tv was great, the bathroom upgraded and clean very nice
Cons: air conditioner kept going off...
Cons: "Maid service" emptied one of two waste baskets which was left out in front of our room. Our beds unmade and towels as is.
Pros: This place would be awesome if they had a restaurant. Driving all day I need more than a chilly dog and mozzarella sticks
Pros: Very nice remodeled rooms.
Cons: Square footage of room is a little small but very nice room

Guests looking for a bite to eat can check out the restaurant, and the bar/lounge is the perfect spot to grab a drink at the end of the day. Bonuses like refrigerators and microwaves are offered in all rooms, along with flat-screen TVs and down comforters.
Cons: The staff didn't know what they were charging , tried to charge me more when I got there. Was also way over priced! Also pool was out of order
Pros: Close to town. Friendly staff. Quiet area
Cons: It is a bit sparse but worth the price. No breakfast provided the first day.
Pros: not much
Cons: They were not pet friendly as stated, then accused me of sneaking my dog into this room that was not pet friendly after the lady who checked us in remarked on how cute he was. I was looking for an inexpensive place to stay for a couple nights, never agai
Pros: Needs renovation. Good staff and location. Clean sheets very dirty carpets.
Pros: The gentleman working the front desk (manager?) was awesome. A pleasure after a long day on the mountain. The room was standard, clean and great for the price
