Made to order breakfast was delicious. The fitness room was as large as the closet smells like paint and everything seemed a little outdated and run-down
This is a great value for a 3 star hotel. Great restaurant and bar, cute place overall. It's not a luxury hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised at the great hotel at 3 stars.
The main lobby -- this hotel was built in 1930's. Really a charming example of Adobe architecture -- very nice restaurant and bar -- decoration wise. Breakfast included and was very good. The architecture and decoration in main building lobby/ restaurants is worth seeing.......people are very nice...but the need to up their game accommodation wise. Old part I would not recommend -- not solid feeling when you step on floors -- the newer building is not concrete between floors so you hear people walking on 2nd floor rooms if you are in 1st floor rooms. They gave us a room in old section, electricity went off, then phone..i asked to be moved to newer building -- which were suites and they moved us at no extra charge..then that room had no hot water and no water pressure. So we moved for a third time and that had hot water and no water pressure...next day pressure was better but room was noisey since a bunch of construction workers were staying on the 2nd floor. But the building is historic and worth seeing but I would not stay there again.
The room was small and the TV was an old tube TV.
Well-located on the main drag. Beautiful public areas of hotel. Fabulous and extensive complimentary breakfast. Inadequate lighting in the room.
Great breakfast buffet, nice view of mountain range from my room. no cleaning services, no staff on-site near my room (to request towels, etc), pool is in another building and locked, exercise room smells bad and in another building, room not as big as what I thought we'd be getting (according to pictures on website).
The property itself was exquisite. The room, the pool and landscape was utterly gorgeous. Very inspirational. The staff was great as well, especially the valet. The food was very "meh". I would have expected much more from the mac and cheese than a bowl of Kraft mac and cheese. ....As a mom, its easy to spot. The beer was flat as well. The salad had a generic sugary raspberry dressing. Its a competitive food world out there, so I think Monte Sagrado could do much better. The music in the bar was really youthful and felt like a bad night club. Staff was fine though. Everything else in the resort completely made up for the experience though!
Quaint and charming! Really a gem for the price, decent location, lovely grounds, well maintained. A wonderful breakfast was served every morning with wide selection of items both hot and cold. Room was small but very charming, New Mexican decode old hacienda theme. All was good for us no complaints
Clean, friendly, outside park like atmosphere, great hot tub
Cozy down comforters and beds, big soft towels, nice breakfast, hot tub, GREAT staff and location!
Rooms were clean and spacious. Complimentary continental breakfast was probably the best I've had. Staff was helpful and friendly- from the front desk to the kitchen to the guy who brought the crib to the room.
Great bang for your buck. Clean, friendly staff, charming, very reasonably priced. The pool is nothing to write home about, but served its purpose for a nice cool dip on a hot afternoon.
Friendliness of staff Liked it all
Excellent room, great atmosphere, friendly staff, great location and a phenomenal fu$&ing breakfast! That we left to go back to work
Breakfast in the morning was delicious and service was great. The staff were all so sweet and willing to help and answer any questions. I would highly recommend staying here and will be back next time I'm in Taos.
Beautiful surroundings! Construction going on, nothing to eat or drink after 9pm unless you drive 40 minutes.
Beautiful surroundind. No
The studio we had in Cottam's Cottage was exactly what we needed which included a small kitchen to prepare food.
very cozy cute and functional Our hotel was away from the main building. about 1 mile away
Proximity to all activities including walking to lifts. Staff was terrific. Very helpful with check in and how best to save money on events.
Located in beautiful setting. Accommodations great for the price.
It was nice that it was in the mountains. Room was SO hot and the AC didn't work. Called front desk and said they wouldn't do anything because it was after hours and no staff were available. It was 9:00pm, and we were just arriving in our room! Also about .5 inch of dust on thermostat

The hotel offered many amenities such as a spa, change room, and access to the mountain range. The rooms were quite spaceous and had a lot of decor. The staff was excellent, they were helpful and friendly. If you get in late you might get lost because it is very dark at night. Also the bugs are large and ridiculous.
very cute room
Excellent restaurant, friendly staff. Worn out mattress. Noisy neighbors.
Friendly staff. Hotel is a bit more expensive than other hotels in the US of the same quality, but the "oldness" may be attractive to Americans (although unreal to Europeans). Very loud "live" music in lobby means that checking in can only be done by shouting very loud. It also makes the bar an unfit spot to spend them, but the restaurant is far enough away so that the music is reduced to "background".
The dining room, highly touted, was visited only once where my wife and I had a very nice lunch. The manager, in response to my complaint listed below, was apologetic, courteous and gave me a 10% discount. She said she would look into the matter. She suggested she had no idea what kind of lighting was in the room. I am skeptical of that but accepted her statement.. l. The light bulbs over the bed were 34 and 40 watts respectively, making it nearly impossible to read. Staff (after asking why I wanted stronger bulbs) stated that they had none. I had to go to a store to buy bulbs myself. 2. the room was plain with little charm to justify $200/day cost - all in all not better that low cost chain motels I have stayed in.
Location and the staff. Restuarant offered many unique dinner selections. The shower. Because it was an open shower water leaked on the bathroom floor. Musty smell in room.
Tub drain broken, bathroom needed updating.
Clean and quiet. Easy access. Comfortable bed. Reasonable price. Everything was good.
Showers, the variety of breakfast items, room, friendly staff. No shuttle to downtown.
Loved the fireplace, comfortable bed, beautiful and warm quilt, warmed floors, greeting from our hosts including Jake - Wonderful and delicious breakfast... you have to have the hot oats brulee and any of the baked goods... everything was delicious. We will be back for a longer stay.
I like their fireplace, it is unique and fun to set it up. They even have a peacock. The place is nicely decorated, and very romantic. It is a bit hard to find, especially after the dark, as their sign has no light. A quick tips is that their office is at the dead end of the road, in front of a gate.
the room was good for the price. two queen beds, good shower pressure, microwave, refrigerator, new flat screen, $150 for two nights for four adults, including all taxes. good value. the place needs some TLC and an upgrade in staff. apparently, this is happening. the place changed its name from whitten inn to the el camino, right after we pulled in. didn't even make up our room after the first night. no clean towels, no service. told front desk. the excuse was one of the cleaning ladies hit the skids or something. he was going to make a note of it and get right on it. nobody ever showed to clean the room. probably should ask for a refund for the second night.
Not much. No one was at counter when we arrived; extended wait time for someone to show up to get room keys. Some furniture in the room literally falling apart. Kids/adults running around outside rooms & in parking area all night long talking, shouting, and making lots of noise.
The room was ok. But I can not say a lot of good here. The front counter staff should be replaced. They were not happy with there job. While I was at front desk, I heard two other people complain as well. Air conditioner was very loud. Pool area was not clean. Did not get towels as asked for. Coffee was lousy.
Place in disrepair, beds dirty/uncomfortable, loud/obnoxious residents, towels like sandpaper, my daughter didn't feel safe there, like the other reviewer said has really gone downhill last two years.
Bathroom and room were dirty. Room smelled bad. Parking lot in bad shape, stains all over the stairwells. Drains were clogged. Couldn't shower. This place is in a steep decline.
Desk Staff assigned us to a room, there was a person in it. Went back to the desk, was assigned another room with same results. Felt completely unsafe and canceled the reservation and left.
