Pros: The location was beautiful and encouraged relaxation.
Cons: Building And grounds were not keep up very well, railing to Lovers Leep outlook
Enjoy your visit to Ansted with a stay at Hawks Nest State Park. Guests can splash around at the outdoor pool or grab a bite to eat at the restaurant. Bonuses like refrigerators and microwaves are offered in all rooms, along with balconies and room service.
Cons: I should have gotten a first floor apt due to my husbands knee issue.
Pros: Location perfect for what we needed. Staff was excellent.
Cons: Old, outdated, dirty floors in room.
Pros: The outside of the hotel was nice and clean, the pool looked great although it was to cold and rainy for pool time. I had my dog and the grassy areas to take him to were nice and trimmed :) The bed in the room was clean. GREAT LOCATION!
Cons: The carpet in the room felt very grimy and was peeling away from the walls. There were many dead stink bugs in the room. Hair in the sink and tub/shower floor was oily. The phone In the room was so disgusting I used mine to call the hotel restaurant.!!
Pros: We plan to run this Reston marathon every April and would not think of looking elsewhere for overnight accommodation. Thank you.
Cons: Cannot think of a single item that displeased us however if you're looking for ideas it would be ideal if you could extend check-out time for an athletic event like this marathon by one hour to enable us race back form the South Lakes High School to take
Pros: FRIENDLY STAFF - GREAT RESTAURANT ON SITE
Cons: close to highway, some truck noise at night
Pros: Very clean and comfortable.
Cons: No. It was great.
Pros: Nice and calm location closer to the New River Gorge Visitor Center
Pros: The breakfast was great for a Quality Inn. Rooms were good too but not fancy.
Cons: The place is worn out and over rated at 2 1/2 stars! They did not clean our room between the two nights stay.
Pros: We were in town for a funeral. The location was convenient. Ther ebrealfast was included, wifi, and a pool.
Cons: It definitely didn't t look like the pictures, the A/C vent fileters were no clean and smelled musty. I'm severely allergic to mold and dust. My daughter ended up getting a head cold after we left. I'm glad we paid military rate.
Pros: The location
Cons: For the SECOND time....Someone had slept in the bed. My 82 year old Aunt climbed into bed only to find a nasty wash cloth in the bed with her.
After driving 8 hours, I had to get out of bed, get dressed, go to the desk and get clean sheets, come back and make the bed. It was a gross event.
Not going back there again.
Last time you could tell someone had been laying in one of the beds and a drink ring on the table. We just used the other bed, What is up with that hotel?
Pros: Very convenient location - right off of the interstate.
Lobby and rooms were generally clean.
Cons: The mattress on our bed was old.
The hallways were unreasonably hot on our floor. Like the management didn't want to pay extra to keep them cool.
Letters on their neon sign were burnt out. Hard to locate on a foggy night.
Pros: Most of the staff was friendly. Housekeeping was super-friendly and terrific. I feel badly that we forgot to tip them. Free breakfast was judicious but still made it a pretty good value.
Cons: STAFF: Was abruptly told upon arrival that since I had made the reservation online, they could do nothing about giving a military discount. Staff is incapable of chatting on the phone and giving change for the vending machine at the same time. ROOM: The first night, they had us on the lower level, the 100-level rooms. It smelled so badly of mildew that we thought we would be sick. Even the a/c smelled awful. I can't believe it is not a health hazard. They agreed to move us to an upper-level room, even acknowledging the lower level smelled bad. BREAKFAST: Well, it was free. But if you get there 10 minutes before it closes up, you may find yourself with nothing but a muffin. A bunch of people came in close to closing time and they refused to put out any more food.
Pros: The location
Cons: When I went to book this hotel, I picked it bc it said "Pet Friendly." When I got there, everyone had dogs. I thought that was nice. At no point ever through the registration process was I asked about pets; there was no indication through the registration process that there would be a pet charge. Mind you, I have no problem paying it, but the way the staff approached me was super rude. I called to ask whether or not the comforters were down (feathers) because I had woken up with a headache, runny nose and cough; I am allergic to down, so I figured they must be down. The lady picked up and I said, "Hi. I am wondering if you could tell me if the comforters on the bed are down?" And the woman goes, "I don't know, but I have been trying to get ahold of you ALL DAY. You have dogs in your room. Are you aware of the pet policy?" I was totally taken aback by her tone of voice. I said, "No, I just saw that it was a pet-friendly hotel, so i picked it." She said, "Well, it is $25.00 per night; so that's a $50.00 incidental charge." I said "Okay." and she said, "Okay, thank you, bye." And I said, "Um, what about my question regarding the bed comforter?" and she said, "I don't know." And I said, "Well can y ou ASK someone?" She turned and asked someone and they said no, so she said "No, they are not. Thankyou." And hung up. So, when I went to check the tags on them, they were. Then I called last evening bc I thought I left my phone charger in the room and the woman who answered said, "I have no idea about that. The people who are in charge of lost and found aren't here. They work again at 8am tomorrow morning. I will take your number and have them call you." Now, wouldn't you think that a lost and found list of items would be available at the front desK? Finally, when I was asking about whether a route 19 exit was north or south of our location, the woman talked over me and did not let me finish my question. Also, they took away the free coffee while the restaurant was open for breakfast. I do not think there was a continental breakfast, I did not see one, just a menu and prices for breakfast in the elevator. Also, they advertise themselves as a Hotel, but the restaurant is not open all of the time. No room service. Just unsophisticated customer service all the way around.
Pros: Some of the staff were pleasant, and the room was cleaned well for the first few nights.
Cons: Some of the staff was a bit rude and less than accommodating. The third floor smelled like a nursing home hallway (I've worked in some, I should know) which was less than pleasant. The continental breakfast was as basic as it gets and frankly quite lame. The pool area seemed barren and maintained by minimal standards.
When visiting Oak Hill, Holiday Lodge Hotel & Conference Center is a great choice to consider. After visiting the health club for a workout, you can grab a bite to eat at the restaurant or unwind with a drink at the bar/lounge. An indoor pool and a spa tub are other highlights, and rooms offer flat-screen TVs and refrigerators.
Cons: The smell of smoke though out the building. Bed was not to comfortable but pretty much the smell throughout the building was the biggest negative
Pros: Room was clean, they gave us way more towels than we needed, the people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly and housekeeping did a great job. Big mini fridge and microwave were definitely a plus, as was the decent sized flat screen.
Cons: The air conditioner made the room smell a little like soured laundry, but it wasn't bad enough to complain about.

Cons: The whole place felt like everyone was doing the least amount possible
Pros: For its price it was overall okay and fair.
Cons: I was turned down by the small talk that the guy at the reception was putting on me. He just didn't stop. He was wearing a plain white T-shirt that had stains. For me this is an absolute no go if you are welcoming people. You need to have clean attire!
