The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. The facilities are excellent! The resort is located near a gorgeous beach and Port Lucaya is a two minute walk away from the main entrance. The housekeepers forgot to replace our wash towels twice during our brief stay. The queue for checkout was ridiculously long. When I finally got to the front the front desk agent took thirty seconds with me. I would expect more efficient service for the price.
Property was beautiful. Room had wet spot in carpet most likely from rain that came down in wall. Outside Grill shut down due to rain. Should have larger overhang to stay open during these little storms.
View from 9th floor ocean view room was beautiful. Resort is quite big and didn't feel overcrowded. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Additional perks (complementary snack and drinks each evening) for guests staying on 9th and 10th floor we're great and increased feel of luxury.
The room was large and airy. Well appointed. Terrace was large and had nice views of ocean and land. Staff was friendly and helpfull, attentive. Good value. Bathroom needs updating. After a heavy storm water was coming in through the ceiling light in the shower. Not good. Otherwise, the room was great.
then who cares about the others the mattresses of the beds and the staff of the reception needs training.
The beach was nice when they raked the seaweed. The resort could use some major renovations. The food was terrible even the food in on-resort restaurants that require reservations. Most of the activities and shows at the resort were themed or focused on another culture, which was odd, since we were on the culture-rich island of the Bahamas. We weren't comfortable and definitely didn't leave feeling relaxed. If you can stay somewhere else, DO IT.
The pools and the ferry to the beach. Nice location peaceful and pleasant. Need the government to do something about the ferry arrivals area and tidy up the taxis. Gives a shocking impression and makes Grand Bahamas look like a third world country. It is the businesses that need better support! The regimentation of your agents. Some people like to make a decision on how to get to and leave the island without being forced into psckages that don't work. The boat from Fort Lauderdale is particularly bad.
Pelican Bay Hotel is ideally located beside the Lucaya Market with many excellent restaurants and souvenir shops. The best rooms are the king suites on the fourth floor with a sea view. Hotel guests are given a pass for the water taxi to Taino Beach. The beautiful beach is a five minute walk away. We were at this hotel for two weeks. On the majority of mornings, the buffet breakfast was very good with fresh fruit salad and custom omelets and various breads, etc. However, on the days that Liz was not supervising, both the service and food were extremely limited.

Staff was very pleasant.Environment was tranquil and clean. I would've love a coffee pot or microwave in my room.
the staffs were very professional the room in the A section was full of roaches. i complained to the front desk and they sent us to the B section
Clean, green, friendly staff. Walking distance to a local movie theater. Bus stop across. Burger King and Pollo tropical restaurants within 2 min walk. Located in the heart of Grand Bahamas. Extremely Loud music from the night club next to the hotel every night until 5 am. Everything else met our expectations. Slow restaurant service.
very small towels.....noisy AC
Great location , affordable prices! Everything was good.
The people were nice. The facilities were disgraceful. The restaurant and bar were non-existent. The beach was NOT within walking distance. The place is in the middle of nowhere. It costs $20 to get to or from anywhere. That's $40 round-trip!
Hospitality was excellent
very friendly and honest staff, clean, located less than 5 minutes walk from the beach, very safe neighbourhood
Friendly, helpful staff, Quiet setting. Ideal marina if you are arriving by boat. Too far from town. $20 taxi ride each way to town. No breakfast, restaurant or bar facilities.
Staff was quite nice. Hotel was clean. Seemed like a good place for boat travelers as there was a marina on site. Bikes were free to use, as well as kayaks. It was a quick bike ride down to the beach. Not that I didn't like it, but it seemed a bit out of the way, and not walking distance to any restaurants, etc. We ordered pizza in - we were only there for one night.
It was in a quiet area. The ad of the hotel online does not truly meet what is to be expected on the actual hotel site. There is NO Restaurant on hotel property. The hotel is very dated. Unless you have a car the convenience store is about 30-40 minutes away from the hotel.
Nothing fancy, but we knew that, but right from the beginning, the staff was very helpful and pleasant. Our room was huge, well maintained, had everything. Grounds were lovely-full marina. Small pool but still lovely overlooking the water. No complaints at all. Slow season so not much with activities at hotel, but they still did karaoke, bingo even though only about 6 people participated! Restaurant was not open all the time because of slow season which was not good since we had no food when we arrived; and they actually opened and grilled up some burgers etc. We thought that was really nice of them. Try it and enjoy!
'' The Perfect Place to Stay '' We ( the chicago 7 all women ) stayed here. The rooms are excellent and clean. The grounds are wonderful and everyone is so helpful. The tennis court is nice and the pools are great. The food was wonderful.
Friendly, kind, clean....what more does one need. Just a wonderful place to have a real vacation.
We loved Ocean Reef. From the people to our room everything was just very nice and special. The staff was extremely attentive and warm. We loved Olive and Cindy and Shimron in the Restaurant. Great place to vacation if you love a personalized service in a homey Resort.
The two pools were both tiny and freezing cold. When I complained to the owner that it was too cold for my baby to swim, he told me to bring an 11-month old into the hot tub. The one restaurant had awful food. My baby found a random pill (not ours) on the floor of our room while crawling around. The screen door in the room was broken and dangerously off the hinges. The managerial staff was extremely rude. When I told the manager that I was not happy with my stay, he said, ''I'm not happy with you either.''
I have been vacationing at Ocean Reef for the last 15 years and it gets better every time. All townhouses have been remodeled, the apartment style rooms are clean and well appointed. The staff bends over backward to make you happy. The fact that Ocean Reef is family owned and operated is a huge plus as well. The onsite manager is available 24/7. The resort is well located and very safe. Pools are always clean and well maintained. For the person who said the pool was too cold for her baby in December - it IS winter and while the weather is on a par with southern Florida, it is STILL WINTER! Guess you can't please everyone.
5 stars to the resident manager, 5 stars to the manager, 5 stars to the party girl X and 5 stars to X, They made our 24th anniversary mad special!! I hope they are there when we go back!
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. The location. There's nothing around it anymore as far as tourist attractions. The International Bazaar is basically abandoned so should not even be listed as an attraction any longer. It is close to the airport though, which is good for business travel.
Staff and Security were absolutely amazing. I had an excellant stay.
Exellant performance to all. I appreciate the way hortel personnel, so polite as well as out agent and airport personnels. Nice place, clean hotel, very perfession attitude toward us.
I have no complaints. I felt as if I was at home, the staff did everything to make my stay excellant. It was a pleasure staying at your hotel keep up the good work.
I was pleased by the security measures taken(security card) to safegaurd guests. The staff members, that I spoke with were pleasant and the food at the Flamingo Resteraunt was a feast. Overall I enjoyed everything at this resort and am looking forward to my next visit.
The hotel was clean, but didn't have much more going for it. We missed our cruise out of Miami and had to fly to Freeport Bahamas to catch up with the boat. It was fine for an overnight, but I wouldn't have wanted to stay there any longer. The restaurant was fair to bad - all fried food, no fresh veggies or fruit, the coffee in the morning was terrible and the English muffin was inedible. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, the waitress in the restaurant, not so much. The hotel isn't close to anything but a few fast food restaurants. There is a shuttle to the beach, but we didn't go there.
Staff and Security were absolutely amazing. I had an excellant stay.
clean, staff helpful, close to restaurants
The staff was by far the best part about this hotel, not only were they helpful they were genuinely nice people! The hotel rooms were definitely just average nothing special rooms
The room is very spacious with an awesome room view No complaints
Our room had a balcony with a nice view and the free wifi was appreciated. The Upstairs Restaurant was very welcoming. The food was delicious and the service was extremely good on all of our visits. For us, the restaurant was the highlight of this hotel. Furniture was old and covered in plastic and the bed sagged in the middle and was not particularly comfortable. While expected, internet speeds were very slow. Loud music outside each night until after midnight.
The rooms were perfect and just a walk to everything. It is an older hotel which I knew but turned out to be best deal on Island.
The access to Taino Beach was great. The staff was always helpful and friendly. Make sure to stop by and chat with Big Momma! She'll make you feel like family. There is no access to anything except the one restaurant on Taino Beach. You have to take the ferry or taxi to any shopping or dining. If you want to be in the mix with the locals and other tourists, this is not the place for you.
You have full use of the swimming pool at Taino Beach resort, across the street. It is also right beside the ferry to the Port Lucaya Marketplace sheets & comforters in good condition. Convenience store on site. Hotel is in a bad state of disrepair. Shower faucet was detached from wall. Kitchen sink faucet was loose. Toilet ran continuously. Kitchenette was very poorly equipped. Just 2 mugs, 3 plates, 2 knives & 4 spoons. Had to ask 3 times for forks.
