The hotel is not an upscale experience which is one of its charms. It has the feel of an old large inn/ski lodge in the center of town. The rooms are large and have lovely views of the beautiful surrounding Thuringian Forest in addition to the sound of a stream sluicing by. The buffet breakfast was good though not as vast and varied as some we enjoyed on our trip. The walk from the rail station is a bit of a hike with luggage, though the trainride to Friedrichroda is lovely and fun. The area is loaded with hiking opportunities. The hotel is a good deal for the money and the staff very friendly.
the friendly service rooms did not seem to be non-smoking
Delightful Inn in small German town with real Old World charm, and very friendly and helpful staff/owner. This hotel is along the old main street, which is a narrow cobble street. Very infrequent car traffic so road noise is minimal. Behind are the well-forested surrounding hills. A self-serve breakfast with various breads/buns, jams, and sliced cold meats was delicious. I was concerned that my room directly above the restaurant part of the hotel would be noisy, but I didn't hear anything from below, nor did I notice any smoking odors. Much less expensive and roomier than the large hotel on the hill (10 minutes) where my conference took place.
We wanted a few days away with our granddaughter from Berlin and found the Deutscher Hof excellent. Very comforable with friendly staff.
Clean room, nice badroom Opening hours of Whirlpool: 15pm to 10pm. For 1 night stay, we couldn't enjoy this, it will be for next time :)
A superior hotel with wonderful facilities for a relaxing break. Superb restaurant. Across the road from a beautiful park. Close to several historical towns. Most enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.
Staff were good. Breakfast was excellent. No internet access in the rooms. Wifi in public areas, but you must pay. Very few TV channels and only one non German. A double room has two single beds pushed togeather with two single quilts.
Friendly welcome - food good value Noisier than expected - windows open because of the heat
comfortable and clean room. close to castle park. great breakfast. nice resident's lounge
The Hotel am Schlosspark is superb. The service is pleasant and efficient, the cuisine worthy of a Michelin star and the setting tranquil, though within easy walking distance of the town centre and the train station. The spa facilities are an added bonus and there is ample free parking right opposite. In summary, an ideal base for visiting Thuringia, much more tranquil than Weimar or Erfurt.
Friendly staff and excelent location Had to pay for internet access
The comfort room is exceptionally large, restaurant had excellent food, and very friendly multi-lingual staff. My wireless internet didn't work as it should have. My US computer couldn't pick up the signal, so I had to spend a couple hours on the phone with their techs to try to make it work - they ran out of ideas, so I had to get a refund for the internet.
We enjoyed the calm and quiet atmosphere as well as the very good breakfast. Cozy bar, good restaurant and comfortable sized room. Enough parking available. Good location for visiting Weimar, Eisenach, Arnstadt, Schmalkalden etc. It was located on the wrong side of town, the centre of Gotha was not in safe walking distance. Although with a car or tram, you are in the centre within 10 minutes and there is enough parking.
This beautiful hotel has very large rooms, perfectly styled and a great bathroom. The hotel is in an old building. Do not eat in the village but in the hotel! Young, enthousiast staff, perfect cook.
Excellent breakfast ang service. Thank you. No signs for the sauna.
Hotel staff is friendly, room is clean, food in the hotel restaurant is good balance between quality and price. We can recommend this hotel to everybody. Nothing really.
This hotel represented the best value for money during our four week tour of Germany, Prague, Salzburg and Vienna.
