Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is prefect place, food, staff ,view. Recomend to choese this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really great. The ryokan is located next to a lot of great restaurants. A little far from the station, but they are very accommodating in working with you to pick you up / drop you off whenever you need to go to the station / a faraway store.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have been to Taiheikan before, and I will definitely come again. Really helpful staff that goes the extra mile to help, one of the best indoor onsens I have been to (as well as toilet and handbasin en suite), a large clean (traditional) room with a view of Mt Fuji, and located right next to lake Kawaguchi (which is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful areas in Japan). It is possible that you may get something better if you spend £500+ per night, but in the middle-range price category, Taiheikan is simply outstanding!
Cons: Nothing, really. You may need to be able to speak a little Japanese to get by (as one staff member is currently learning English), but that is just a good opportunity for practice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This ryokan is amazing! The staff are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the view from my room was incredible. The room was spacious with its own toilet. I had the onsen all to myself too! The garden just outside the onsen made my bath even more peaceful. The location was amazing as well. Thank you for everything! A perfect first ryokan experience.
Cons: Everything was amazing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff very very helpful and friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a family style hotel. Everyone is very nice. They will try to figure out and solve all your questions and requirements.
Cons: None
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing! I stayed for two nights and the breakfast was completely different on the second day. The onsen was a definite highlight - plus I had it all to myself when I visited. The staff were so lovely, especially Hiromi!
Cons: The only thing I was surprised at was that the room wasn't cleaned - even just to empty bins etc. - during my 2-night stay. Maybe this was just my expectation and it isn't standard service. Everything else was fantastic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The stuff was extra nice and helpful. Loved everything about staying in this ryokan.. We were also very lucky that Fujisan was 100% visible from our room window in the morning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Traditional japanese style where gave me comfortable feeling and experience while staying one night in this hotel. Hotel staff is nice and wonderful.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: All
Cons: The air conditioner was too hot!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right at Lake Kawaguchiko, waking up to and retiring in the evening to the magnificent Mount Fuji. The beautiful pine trees lining the hotel garden, where you can sit and take in the views and sounds of nature, or walk down to the lake. Nothing could be more memorable. We experienced the warmest hospitality from the staff - their professional attention and cheerful demeanour, always a step ahead in anticipating our needs. The onsen and kaiseiki dinners are essential to the experience.

Pros: 1. The location is wonderful, the Fuji Mountain is just in front of your window, but it still depends on the weather, especially in rainy season. 2. The dinner in private room for family is luxury, the hotel-special cocktail in lobby is fabulous. 3. The nearby are famous view points.
Cons: The outdoor spring is relative small, some quests talk too loud....

Guesthouse Asobi Factory - Hostel - Fujikawaguchiko - Building
3
9.3 Excellent (655 reviews)
Overview Reviews

Featured amenities include microwave in a common area and refrigerator in a common area. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the owner, they're so cute couple and family, i like when they're singing, hehehe. They're very helpful and funny. Decoration and all stuff is good so you can relax and enjoy with pleasure.
Cons: I feel so unlucky when i arrived at kawaguchiko when the weather was bad. Maybe asobi need to give some roof (a little roof) at the outside space, so the traveller can enjoy the outside place with smoking and drinking beer when it's raining. Hehehe, just an idea..
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice feeling, nice atmosphere. Very nice hosts. Really enjoyed the stay. Additional a really good breakfast. They play Sometimes the guitar and sing. I really appreciated that.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's located in a really relaxed place and you will feel right at home. Lovely owners that help with whatever they can to make your stay good.
5.8 Okay
Pros: It is easy to tell that the owners, a young couple, have put a lot of heart and hard work into this place drawing on what they have. They are very accommodating and have provided us shuttle to the station which would have been a long walk. The common area is cozy.
Cons: Despite our great admiration for the owners, I find an 9+ overall score is really overrated. The score got me into choosing here over the hotels nearby. But if you are looking for some additional comfort to restore your energy after a day’s trip, then you should probably pay a little more to book the actual hotels. Compared to other traditional Japanese style guest houses I stayed with here are some points Asobi Factory can improve: 1 the public showers do not have body wash and shampoo although you can ask for free small packets of them at the front. Using bottles is likely more environmental. 2 The shower room I used was not particularly clean. 3 There was no AC in my room. 4 The front of the house is unpaved and is tricky for large suitcases. 5 towels are not provided in the room by default although we got ours without charge. Good luck and I trust that the guesthouse will be better and better.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It's really quiet and nice place with view to Mt. Fuji :). Be prepared that it's quite far from Kawaguchiko train station but owner is able to pick you up on station and transfer you to guesthouse for free :). Metal lockers are available in dormitory room with enough space for standing laptop.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are absolutely fantastic. Very kind and helpful with everyone. Really made me feel very comfortable
Cons: Nothing I can say
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I only stay there one night but it was great, the staff is really kind and they have shuttle service. Also, the breakfast was delicious!!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly stuff also super helpful. The tatami is super nice. From the window you can see the top of the Fuji mountain.
Cons: The bus stop of the local retro bus is a little bit far. However they do pickup and free shuttle can solve the problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Masaya and Shusha are great hosts. We were late on the arrival day. Although it was raining, Masaya still waited for us until we arrived.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant young couple running it - nothing too much trouble. Quiet room despite a dormitory next door. Most were Mt Fuji hikers so settled very early. Good coffee. Breakfast consisted of egg, sausages, slice of ham, lettuce with mayonnaise & toast & jam. We were picked up from the station despite the fact that it wasn't within shuttle times. The large supermarket nearby the number 3 bus stop has great & very reasonably priced food. You can eat well very cheaply.
Cons: It is a distance from the station but the shuttle runs frequently.

Pros: Really friendly owner. The hotel is located next to one of the busstops of the sightseeing bus. Very nice onsen, you can use this one private.
Cons: We had a loft, so we had to climb upstairs to go to our bed. Not a problem for us, but if you are afraid of hights or a little bit older, this can cause you some problems.

Pros: Good Location and staff is very friendly and helpful
Cons: None
8.3 Excellent
Pros: breakfast is fantastic !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good. Although we did not get to see Mt Fuji due to weather conditions, the view would have been great from our bedroom window. We were assisted with baggage and it was very much appreciated.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really have a precious time there, even we have stayed there only one night. The owner is very helpful, giving us a lot for information for attractions & food. He took us to the local bus stop in the morning. The room was very clean and cozy, you can see Mt.Fuji from the window. Will visit there again for my next trip!!!
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The host was very friendly and helpful with good honest information. The breakfasts were the best we had in our 3 week stay in Japan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Teppe was a brilliant host - continually looking for ways to help us make the most of our stay. The hot tub was great, so too were the local beers on sale of an evening in the lounge, and he even helped us order in some sushi in the evening. Breakfasts great. The property is wonderfully located close to the lakeshore. Just a pity that Fujisan decided to be coy during our stay - treating us only to a fleeting but nonetheless impressive glimpse. I would stay here again in a flash.
Cons: Our room was snug for four - but it had everything we needed. We also made good use of the lounge area.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable and friendly stuff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hospitality with full heart! Owners are wonderful and help with many local tips. Breakfast was delicious and it was great to enjoy onsen in the hotel after long day too. Beds are very comfortable, so you sleep like a baby. When you wake up and can see Fuji from the window, it takes just 3min to walk to perfect morning picture spot. On top of everything the host offered to store my luggage next to the train station instead of in the hotel, which saved me a lot of heavy lifting and precious time! How thoughtful and kind!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: the location is good, but maybe it is summer, there are lots of bugs around the room.
Cons: not exactly sure the breakfast process. i would suggest the host can provide more Japanese style food. also seems there is no dish washer so breakfast were not taken out from room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfortable spacious living and garden areas. Fortunate to have spectacular view of Mount Fuji and liked the lakeside walking paths in front of the villas. Breakfast was ample, nutritious and healthy. Good to have breakfast in the kitchen dining room.
Cons: We stayed here for 3 nights. For early risers like us, the breakfast was served at 8:00 am which is a little later than the 7:00 am we are accustomed to. Normally we would like to be on the road sightseeing at about 8:30 am.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is Great. Our family is enjoy the food, The location is perfect for car driving. We have the Excellent FUJI view.
Cons: No cooking smoke exhaust at the dining table because we cook BBQ food inside the house since the weather is too cold to cook outside the house. So, it will be great if we have an additional exhaust for the cooking smoke above the dining table.

Cons: The view is not as good as expected
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a such a lovely time at Fujikawaguchiko and our stay at Konanso made it even more special. The rooms were very big so we had a plenty of space to stretch out and move around (my partner is a hippo so this was especially important!). The food was amazing too with a very good selection of Japanese and Western style food at the breakfast buffet. Having our kaiseki dinner served in our room made us feel special, and this experience was further enhanced by Kanon-san, who was responsible for our room (Rm 205). Kanon-san was a delight and she really brought a cheery presence to our dining experience. She spoke fluent English and was very tolerant of our limited (and grammatically wrong) Japanese. Her delightful anecdotes about Fujikawaguchiko and Japanese life in general really enhanced our time at Konanso and made us feel very welcomed as guest. Kanon-san capped off an amazing stay at Konanso for us and we will definitely be staying at the Konanso again the next time we visit Fujikawaguchiko again.

Pros: The host is very nice. Helped us to carry our bags upstairs. The breakfast was nice. The outdoor onsen, although small, is good enough for private use. My husband and I can use it together. We have booked 3 rooms and they put all our rooms upstairs on the same floor.
Cons: The room size is a bit small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband, friends and I all looked to our overnight onsen experience as a highlight of our trip. Some of the points that made our visit so wonderful were: -Wonderful onsen experience -Helpful owners that went out of their way to make your stay memorable -Shuttle to the train station -Delicious homemade breakfast -Mix of Japanese and European style
Cons: Not really something I disliked, but be prepared for the owners not speaking much English. A few of my friends had some limited use of Japanese, which made things much smoother than they would have been otherwise.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quiet setting, good breakfast, very friendly hosts, free use of city bicycles, laundrymat close by. Nice outdoor hot tub/Jacuzzi
Cons: The location is slightly out of town, but the hosts offer to drive you into town or local restaurants and pick you up so it wasn't a problem. This wasn't really a negative but just to make you aware that it is not in the center of town.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely place to stay. A characterful property, warm and cosy, in an idyllic setting. With limited English, the owner is helpful and courteous; facilities are acceptable, including a private Onsen. The rooms are of a very good size, clean and with all the necessities.
Cons: I made the mistake of forgetting my International Driving License and so couldn't rent a car - Don't make the same mistake, your own transport is an absolute must at this property!!!! The free pick-up and drop-off to/from the station is at very restricted times (to suit the owner). Communication with the hotel is quite limited but that could be due to the language barrier. Does not have a proper shower, just a handheld shower hose
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were delightful - very friendly and helpful. They gave us a lift into the town, booked us a restaurant for dinner, and took us to the mid-winter fireworks display (we didn't know there was one).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were incredibly accommodating, picking us up from the station, driving us to Fuji Q and back and lending us torches. Very friendly and lovely even though they claimed to have poor English. Room was decent size, comfy and clean.
Cons: Our room was set up with two single beds, but may have just been an error with the booking I made. Although my husband and I didn't mind walking through the forest to get to some restaurants for dinner, it may bother some people.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fancy breakfast with a thoughtful touch. And there’s a onsen room where we can soak a tired body with a hot spring. The interior and exterior design brought a european ambience which is very unique and full of character.
Cons: The staff cannot speak english. It’s bit hard to communicate but they had a pocket translator. The bed is hard and the pillow is minimalist. The location is in the woods. It’s not walking distance to the nearest shop or restaurant. But they are willing to pick up and drop off every day.

Pros: the location, view and the surrounding was amazing
Cons: a bit too expensive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great view and clean room. nice staff and great food.
Cons: You have to go to the hotel by yourself when you get to the town. Approximately 3000JPY from the train station to the hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Incredible Experience and beautiful resort! It is expensive, but it's worth a 2-nights stay and experience the Hoshinoya concept and culture. Staff was really top notch, friendly and helpful. Even when I was sick, they helped out with medicine. From check-in to check-out, everything was perfect. There are some outdoor activities, from cooking class, to chopping wood, driving with your bike, or hanging out at the cloud terrace during sweet times and enjoy baumkuchen and drinks in midst of the forest. Prime view location onto Mount Fuji with the Kawaguchiko Lake in front. I could not imagine a better spot to enjoy the view of Fujisan.
Cons: Food was very good, but we had expected more options for Japanese traditional food. We had Shabu Shabu and Japanese Curry for dinner. It was delicious. Also breakfast was great, but still very western-oriented.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are so considerate and prepare so many wonderful presents to my wife and me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything the staff and everyone
Cons: the food not enough selection
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about our stay once we reached the hotel was perfect. The staff were more than happy to answer any and all questions and we felt truly spoiled during our stay there, from our luggage being delivered to and from our room on check-in and check-out respectively, and being gifted tea-bags that were not for sale but that we had tried in our rooms on one night (they were complimentary). More than that they really nailed the entire glamping experience at Hoshinoya Fuji. Admittedly we had opted for a lot of their activities, mainly having all of our breakfasts and dinners at the hotel, and were therefore able to immerse ourselves in its atmosphere. We tried the dutch-oven dinner on our first night, which is held in a covered podium in the middle of the woods, and ended up having the most fun and delicious meal of our 14 day stay across Japan from Tokyo to Fujikawaguchiko, Hakone, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Wakayama. The attentiveness of the hotel really shows from the aprons they give you, to the creativeness of the dishes which all have a matching, hunter-gatherer theme to them, and to the ways they serve the dishes which almost always involve you creating or serving the dishes for yourself and your companions. The hot pot in-room dinner option was also a great way to enjoy the amazing balcony-lounge area in our room and the food was, once-again, super high-quality, healthy and very delicious, with a copious amount of vegetables, mushrooms and beef and pork, as well as a local noodle dish named Hōtō. During the daytime, the cloud-terrace area was an amazing place to relax and enjoy the fresh air while cooking up smores near the campfire (yes, there is a campfire that is constantly lit) and enjoying a fresh cup of fruity herbal tea. I can only describe our experience at Hoshinoya, but words really don't do justice to the entire experience.
Cons: The only truly convenient way to reach the hotel from Kawaguchiko station is by taxi, which can get quite expensive if you intend to explore around the town or go to nearby attractions such as Fuji Q amusement park.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is what made this resort so special. An outdoor oasis
Cons: Nothing
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: only the view of Fuji mountain, rainy day and couldnt see clearly. Staff was helpful even they dont speak English well
Cons: Value of money, 5 stars resort but no proper house keeping service, only changing towels, floor and stuff so dirty. Bed sheet didnt make properly. Staff dont speak English so well
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view is unbeatable. The room we stayed in with a balcony was gorgeous! There was also a view from the bathroom. They brought us a complimentary fruit platter for our anniversary, which was a nice gesture! The kayaking was fun but expensive. The little exploring backpacks were nice and came with a free water bottle and snacks.
Cons: Didn’t like that breakfast or any food is not included in the rate of the room. They definitely overcharge for everything. It’s easy for bugs to get into the room, so make sure doors aren’t open for too long.

Pros: The hotel was very clean, convenient and the owner/managers were wonderful. They are lovely people, very helpful and really want you to have a great experience at their hotel. The onsen was very nice. We had a wonderful view of Mt. Fuji from our bedroom window (and the dining area window and almost everywhere in the hotel). Our room had both a sleeping room and a sitting room area so it was very comfortable. The hotel location was very convenient to a pretty park and the lake itself, and they pick you up from the Kawaguchi station. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner. It was a fantastic traditional Japanese meal, beautifully presented. It was well-worth the money and an experience in itself. We felt very fortunate that picked Kawaguchi Lakeside Hotel to stay at. We stayed 2 nights and we had nothing but good experiences.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is super amazing and the location is perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels and bed and breakfasts, but this was our first ryokan. The owners made all the difference. The went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy. 8.0 Excellent
Cons: it too hot inside dorm, only 1 aircondition cannot flow everywhere.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It's been a while since my husband and I stayed in hostels and we where positively surprised by this one. We stayed in one of the private bedrooms with shared bathroom (clean and functional). The hostel is well designed, you can also find good food for a reasonable price, which is not easy in that area. It is a few blocks (10mn walking) from the bus station that will lead you to Mt. Fuji (Yoshida's stations) and among others. This hostel is a great and comfortable option if heading to Mt. Fuji for a couple of days without paying exorbitant prices. We would definitely stay there again if we ever go back.
Cons: The shared kitchen could use a stove.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice employee. good communication in English.

Pros: The staff are amazing!! So kind and friendly. We had stayed at Kagelow the night before hiking, and were able to leave our bags to pick them back up the next day. Unfortunately my partner got altitude sickness and we had to descend. They didn’t have any rooms left, but the staff helped us find a new hotel, contacted them to save us a room, and called a taxi for us! Absolutely amazing service! Will definitely stay here again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a very lovely hostel and I truly recommend this place. The atmosphere is very relaxing and I like their doors especially. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The dormitory room is very clean and the bed is comfortable. The bikes we rent from Kagelow are very nice.

Pros: The rooftop terrace allows to enjoy a wonderful view of Mount Fuji (access with quite steep stairs and a wooden ladder). Big kitchen, jam & coffee for breakfast (think about buying some bread in a nearby shop). Nice common room with various seating options (including hammocks).
Cons: Be aware that there are 2 K's houses in the city. The other one is much closer to the lake. The hostel sends a warning message after you book a room to make sure that you reach the right place.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Might have given a better mark for location if Mt. Fuji was in sight but that's not the fault of the hostel!!!! Just happened to be there on a very cloudy day!! Loved the lounge and kitchen area, they were really spacious, well stocked with utensils etc. and the staff kept cleaning constantly! The place was immaculate!

Pros: The Japanese breakfast and dinner feasts are awesome. Diverse selection of food and very filling. The service at the restaurant was wonderful. Special thanks to reception and the restaurant staff for postponing the shuttle car ride so we could have more time to finish our breakfast! Special delight was the “Library” next to reception, an artsy, jazzy area to lounge, read books, listen to music, and appreciate how lucky you are to be here!

Pros: This was our favourite Hotel in Japan by far! The views of Mt Fuji across Lake Fujikawako, and views of city lights on the lake are breathtaking. The Hotel has both communal and private Onsen for guests which have everything you need - no need to go anywhere else!. On arrival you get a kimono house coat which guests can wear around the hotel if you wish, which is super relaxing. The restaurant is exceptional and best food and service in Kawaguchiko, and best views from the restaurant terrace! All staff were so helpful and spoke good english. We struggled to leave the hotel each day as it had everything we wanted in one spot! We were sad to leave and would of liked a few more days.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: To the personel of Asafuji; thank you so much for taking such good care of us and teaching us about Japanese culture. From the very moment you picked us up at the train station, to the personal introduction at the hotel, to the moment we were taken back to the station with all personel saying good bye, it was a big pleasure. It reminded me of visting my grandma, she used to spoil me as well. The onsen was very nice, but the diner was sublime! Thank you again!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s very clean and cozy. We booked a room that has Mount Fuji view with a big window. I like sitting in front of the window enjoying the view while drinking green tea. Their service is very good with pick-up service and have staff speak both Chinese and English.
Cons: There is not much choice of food over there. Restaurant closes very early. You need to book hotel’s breakfast and dinner beforehand, otherwise family mart is the only choice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great dinner and breakfast, great location, great Onsen, very friendly staff
Cons: Nothing
4.3 Okay
Pros: The real room is so much different from the expectation which the online pictures may want convey to you. The room is really simple with insects. The food facilities (including surroundings) are poor as well. And for some reason, I just glanced at the paper that says I was changed from room 403 (whic has a much better view) to room 401 (which is blocked a lot by the other building). Overall, not a good stay.
Cons: The staffs are polite, especially the drivers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing and ymmmy breakfast(must try). Excellent service. Very clean. Fluent English and chinese translation service. Can view the fuji mountain when u are enjoying the hot spring.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was simply unbelievable. We checked in late due to a changing itinerary, and they were extremely understanding. Once we arrived, they promptly showed us to our room and even offered to make a reservation for us at a local restaurant since we had missed the dinner provided. In the morning, we received a call letting us know that our breakfast was ready. Additionally, their traditional Onsen and tatami mat rooms were great. Even though we could only stay for one night, the entire experience was extremely relaxing and I can’t recommend Asafuji enough!
