Pros: This was the perfect luxury retreat for us after a busy week of travelling and exploring. The rooms are beautiful, exceptionally clean and well presented with calming cinnamon fragrance. The pool and restaurant form the heart of the hotel and the open kitchen lends the whole place a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. The staff are some of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying with, catering effortlessly for our every need. The food is amazing. I don’t normally eat in hotel restaurants when travelling, but we ate here three out of the four nights we stayed. It was that good! The cocktails are also fantastic. Transfer to and from Galle Fort in the hotel tuk tuk was quick and efficient. We had a really inspiring Sri Lankan cookery demonstration with the head chef and Indika’s family. And the massage at the hotel was one of the best I’ve ever had. This is a very special place which I will highly recommend to all my friends and I look forward to returning on day. Thank you!
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about it. It was a very clean environment. Staff was really friendly. Food is AMAZING! try their crab curry, it will blow your mind. The concept of the hotel itself relaxes your mind. It’s more than a home away from home ❤️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: EVERYTHING!! Best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. Beautiful decoration that makes you wanna stay there forever. Pool is great. Staff are really nice and the owner is super friendly and chatty, makes you feel very comfortable. Restaurant is very good, amazing food cook in front of you. Perfect place to end our Sri Lanka trip. Location is good as well, only 10min tuktuk from the rail way station. Well done guys!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms and rainforest surroundings. The decor and antiques are so well picked and beautiful. We also went kayaking on the river close to the lodge, which was a very nice surprise. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend staying here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A true oasis for all who are looking for peace and relaxation. We loved every minute and enjoyed it to the full. The pool area is amazing. the staff is excellent, the rooms and the outdoor bathroom are furnished with a lot of love for detail and give the whole facility the perfect touch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful relaxing place to stay and unwind after a busy holiday. Indika and all the staff were incredibly helpful, thoughtful and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ginganga lodge was the first place we stayed after arriving in sri lanka. Therefore we compared every other hotel with it and non of the others could keep up with the ginganga lodge. It is a paradise in the middle of a jungle with the friendliest and most attentive staff we ever experienced. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The best was the outdoor bathroom. While we were lying at the pool there was always somebody to bring you water (for free!) or other drinks or snacks. The food was delicous, big compliment to the chef! Also to mention that they are trying to be as ecofriendly as possible what we appriciated a lot. If we ever visit sri lanka again we will definately stay there again.
Cons: Nothing to say
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really fantastic! Very helpfull and professional staff. Our first escape from Colombo. We will repeat of course. An oasis of peaceful. We recommend, don't doubt to book it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A dream come true: a truly amazing place, surrounded by coconut trees and many other plants, beautifully designed. Every and each detail is just perfect and you‘re feeling as if paradise really exists. This is certainly not only the most beautiful place we stayed in Sri Lanka, but also one of the best places we‘ve ever been to. Go for the Rice Paddy for your honey moon, this is a big private bungalow with outdoor shower under coconut trees and a Bowers & Wilkins wireless speaker, but of course the double rooms are fantastic as well, all of them nicely furnished and with a lot of antiques. Indika and his friendly staff make your stay unforgettable and they are ready to help you with whatever problem or desire you might have.
Cons: Nothing at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing jungle escape with beautiful and stylish interior, amazing rooms with details like beach bags, portable speaker for your music, fresh flowers and outdoor showers makes your stay so relaxing. Pool is amazing, good restaurant and very friendly and helping owner, who will provide you with possibilities of various activities around - like morning river boat safari or exploring Galle Forte city with tuktuk.

Pros: This was such a lovely stay! The place is immaculately clean and the staff are so welcoming and attending! We felt spoilt from arrival and the breakfast feast each morning was amazing! The staff here really take care to make sure you have the best time whilst staying there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are tastefully decorated and super clean! Our room which we were kindly given a free upgrade, had amazing high ceilings and was so spacious. Fridge, kettle, 2 x fans, soaps, shampoo and conditioner and hairdryer were just some of the thoughtful touches most Sri Lankan properties forget to offer. Udzi and his family were the kindest people, helpful with every request. His Mum is a FANTASTIC cook and by far the best and largest breakfast I’ve ever had in 15 years of traveling. The pool is serene and clean, with many comfy lounge chairs, hammocks, thoughtful touches like fans and power outlets by the beanbag lounges. The property is by the main road but it’s generally quiet inside the rooms, and it’s great being so close to restaurants and shops.
Cons: Cannot fault a single thing. Don’t want to leave!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a fantastic stay at Abundia - the family were lovely, very welcoming and they could not do enough for me. Also the breakfast was hands down the best breakfast I’ve had throughout my 6 week Sri Lanka trio. I can’t recommend this stay enough!

The place is very nice with the pool, also our two year old daughter felt the whole time like at Home! The Lokation is very good, close to Galle, Unawatuna and the beautiful Jungle beach by tuktuk. So if you go to Unawatuna definitly stay at Abundia! Thank you again for the nice time!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible service at reception and pool side. Wished we had more time to stay longer. Stunning hotel, would love to return again.

Pros: Real 5* luxury. Easy to stay here, great food and service
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Le Grand Galle has wonderful staff, very friendly and happy to help. The location is down the road from the cricket ground and historic fort and very easy to get out and about via tuk tuk. Breakfast was buffet on busy days and a la carte on quiet days. The two restaurants provide excellent meals.
Cons: If you're a couple looking for a quiet stay, check to see if there are any bank holidays...lots of families with small children arrived and took over the place for the weekend - we couldn't use the pool as it was overrun by kids playing; not bad for them but annoying for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, with nice facilities. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was really great. Very good location if you want to go to the Dutch Fort.
Cons: nothing not to like
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best place we stayed in all our honeymoon!! Sure, it was also the most expensive, but it was absolutely worth it. The food was exquisite (tasty, imaginative, and creative), the pool was large, the views exceptional (we had one of the best rooms in the property without paying for a suite - views of the beach as well as Galle Fort). The staff had a little tasty cake out for us to congratulate us on our honeymoon. The bedroom was huge, we loved the deep bathtub standing alone in the room and with the sliding doors should we have wanted more privacy. Air conditioning was top notch - embedded and even throughout the room (rather than the gust you get coming down from single machines), bed was super comfy. We were here for 3 nights but I could have happily stayed on for weeks!
Cons: Nothing! This place was 5 star.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Been to malaysia Mauritius and SriLanka this past 2 weeks and I have to say that this hotel was the best in all countries. No bugs, insects and lizards thank god and we were happy with everything at this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a nice stay at Le grand. Property was so close to the beach and stunning view.
Cons: Clam and quite , 100% privacy good place to relax.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent. Staff were very friendly and caters well to all customers need. Breakfast was not buffet, but they had enough items on the menu to choose from. Rooms were very comfortable and airy and had balcony which was great
Cons: If netting was installed at the balcony door, then guests can keep the balcony open. Netting would stop mosquitos and other insects. It would also avoid AC costs for the hotel as guests would love the fresh ocean air.

Pros: We arrived and a delicious iced tea was waiting for us! Perfect for the beating the heat..! The room was super clean and very well prepared! We slept for 11 hours straight! Super comfy bed! Now, the highlight: BREAKFAST! I used to live in France and I know a good croissant and pain of chocolate - wow - despite the hot weather they know their food! Great!! So so so good!! We live in Colombo and we definitely found our ‘to-go’ little place in Galle! Great attention to details as well.. spot clean and the furniture/decor is on point! The owners are also adorable and always available for a chat and recommendations! Loved it!
Cons: I loved everything!!!

Pros: This place is directly within Galle Fort and thus ideal for exploring the old town. The owner is perfect in English and extremely enthusiastic and kind in explaining about her place, the country and all other things we were interested in. Also other staff was very friendly. The croissants for breakfast are amazing.

They genuinely care about their guests. - The rooms are lovely and comfortable. The beds are brilliant and we slept very well. - It’s well furnished and homely. Aditya Resort - Galle - Building
5
9.5 Excellent (218 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Aditya Boutique Hotel in Hikkaduwa, you'll be on the beach, within a 10-minute drive of Hikkaduwa Beach and Hikkaduwa Coral Reef. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a library. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing, the service at reception was good, they were always there to help. After we made a mistake with the booking (a day too early) they offered us an upgrade and a free dinner which they didn't have to! Our standard room was enormous, including a private plunge pool, fish pond and double sinks in the bathroom.
Cons: There's not much to do in Hikkaduwa, but Galle is great and only a short tuk tuk ride away. The sea was really rough when we were there (July) so we were advised not to go swimming.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Facilities and staff exceptional. Photos do not do it justice.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully designed, well decorated, huge room with a gorgeous beach facing jacuzzi. Excellent staff, probably the most attentive staff we’d encountered across our stay in Sri Lanka. Lovely private beach. Just an excellent experience overall!
Cons: The mandatory New Years gala dinner, while well conducted, felt overpriced. Ideally, the gala dinner should be optional - not all guests are in the mood to have a 5-course meal for New Years.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The rooms, cleanliness, staff readiness to assist, the design, even the smell of the halls and rooms.
Cons: Nothing from the Hotel. The way from CMB airport to the hotel is longer than what google maps will advise. Google maps estimates the trip to be 2.5 hrs. The trip takes from 3.5 to 4 hours. Plan accordingly.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our room and bathroom was enormous and we had a jacuzzi to ourselves on a floor above us. The main hotel area was very large and airy and had a good view across the garden to the beach. The staff were extremely attentive and charming. The beach was long in both directions and had very few people on it - good for a long walk in the morning or evening.
Cons: Because it was very spacious and modern it was not as intimate as the word 'boutique' implied and the dining area was a large open area facing the garden and beach - there was no separate, more intimate dining area. The sea was rough and there was a strong under-tow - it was not a place to swim in the sea - but one could paddle or 'play' in the water close to the beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The staff were so attentive and kind. We could not have enjoyed our stay more.
Cons: Everything was wonderful. The only improvement that could be made is ensuring drivers know to offer toilet/coffee stops en route from airport.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, perfect for our last night before long flight home!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room, the view was really good... the staff was just amazing.. helped set a table in the garden for dinner in a very short notice.. also, the any time breakfast policy was such a great thing... thank you for that..
Cons: We wanted to try the pillow collection and we called and asked for 2 pillows, but never got it. But we didnt wanna call the 2nd time. So it was ok.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing service. So clean. Nice people. Quick service , nice comfortable setup. Good food. For relaxing I rate it 10-10. Good taste. Nice decoration, rooms are amazing
Cons: -m
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Standard of room and food incredibly high. Staff were excellent and while not in a city/town centre, it’s very easy to get to any of the surrounding towns in a matter of minutes. The hotel is also on the beach, not the greatest one for swimming though.
Cons: Beach, while not the hotels responsibility or fault, was a bit disappointing. There are many others very close by though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Aditya is located in a perfect location ..away from the hassle and noise of hikkaduwa! Perfect get way for body and soul.

Pros: Beautiful oasis, in a peaceful local neighbourhood just a 10 min bus ride from the centre of Galle & a few mins walk to the beach. My bedroom was spacious, with a lovely view from the terrace, comfortable bed & a decent bathroom with hot water. There is a great shared space with a nice terrace to sit out on & the breakfast is huge & delicious. The family who own the homestay were so kind, friendly & helpful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owner was really nice and the whole place perfectly clean. I stayed at his place because I had to leave the previous one due to a big misfit between description and reality. He was very understanding when I wanted to have a look at the room first. As soon as I settled in, he offered me tea and in the evening he (being a chef with experience from his time in Italy) cooked VERY delicious pasta. Perfect stay (also for women travelling alone) - thank you!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place run by a family. They where all the time very attentive to what a I needed (they prepared me egg roti as an extra one day for breakfast after I said I liked it the night before) and help plan my stay. The place is a bit far from the center of Galle, but in a much nicer neighborhood and a very cheap and fast bus ride away so it was very convenient.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very friendly with lots of knowledge. Lovely people. Great breakfasts too!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly family. Room with balcony and common room to relax in. We had the home made spaghetti (owner lived in Italy for a couple of years and worked as a cook) which was delicious!!!
Cons: -
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great!!!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendy and kindly family
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay in Homestay 24/1, we were greeted with a lovely drink which was delicious and refreshing on arrival. It was spotlessly clean, the rooms were a good size, airy and had air conditioning which was a bonus (this is a supplement on the room if used but it isn’t much) The bed was super comfy and the shower was hot. What more could you need! The breakfast and evening meal were cooked by the owner and was amazing! It was served in the dining room which over looked a lovely balcony. I highly recommend the prawn dishes being so close the coast. The guest house is situated within a development which is a short tuk tuk ride from the centre, however we got the bus for 5 mins on the main road for pennies in to the Old fort this is a must in Galle to visit, it’s a lovely place to wander around with cafes, bars, restaurants and sights. We then sat on the walls and watched the sun set over the water which was lovely. We decided on the next day to get the bus to Mirissa for a beach day from the bus station. It takes an hour but is an interesting ride. The owner was very helpful in advising how and where to get the busses etc. He also arranged our Tuk Tuk to the train station early in the morning for our onward journey. I would highly recommend a stay at this Homestay.
Cons: We liked everything
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had an amazing time in this place. The host was very helpful in every way possible. The food was amazing and very fresh, we've never had this good tuna and shrimp in our life! No need to look for a restaurant :) The room was small and simple, but clean and the view was quite nice. Strongly recommend, great value for money.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room very clean, big breakfast, very nice and friendly owner who gives good advices:) feels like a second home. Air conditioning, nice balcony.
Cons: We were satisfied with everything :)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place and staff.
Cons: Everything
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Waiters could have been a little more attentive - but that’s being pickie
10.0 Excellent
Pros: KK is one of my favourite hotels, my boyfriend and I stayed here before and I couldn't resist visiting again. It is incredibly beautiful, the rooms are clean and cool. From my balcony I could watch the monkeys in the trees. The food is delicious, and the grounds stunning. I had an amazing massage (as a trained masseuse that's high praise) and to visit Galle they booked a tuktuk who waited for a few hours and brought me back again. The staff are welcoming, friendly and eager to help. And I absolutely love the way the hotel is decorated. A wonderful place to relax in peace and quiet. I will return again.
Cons: I love this place, the only part that could be an issue is the location. It can be hard for some to find but if you can show on maps then no problem.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved outdoor bathrooms, size of rooms.
Cons: Bed was a little small and too soft.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Set amongst the trees about 10-15 mins from the coast, this property is really lovely. We had the Peacock room which was huge. The rooms themselves were very comfortable and well maintained and are beautifully designed/decorated. Each morning we would observe the local wildlife which are present outside the windows. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Whilst the communal pool is lovely. I should have probably opted for a room with a private pool as it would have added to the satisfaction of this accommodation.
Cons: The food could improve - although it is better than many other places I ate in whilst in Sri Lanka.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved this place - real classy, accommodation was exceptional, staff were amazing, food and amenities fantastice. Hard to fault
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff worked very hard to make it a wonderful break. They couldn’t do enough
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, including a coconut on arrival. Great staff. Really beautiful room including outdoor bathroom and shower. Food was excellent. Pool and gym were also great.
Cons: It was a very quiet, peaceful place but almost too quiet. I thought they could have done with a little soft music by the pool and at dinner. The place was absolutely lovely but I'm not sure it was worth the price.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff is incredible. Everyone is so sweet and very attentive. While small, the grounds and views are beautiful. The hotel is beautifully decorated and everything was incredibly comfortable.
Cons: The water in the shower was not hot. I also wish the spa was a little more relaxing. It's small, shades closed so you can't really enjoy the scenery, and the lights were on. Would be great to see a little more investment in this space.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: This was the perfect relaxed atmosphere to finish a two week trip around Sri Lanka. The hotel oozes calm, whilst it is sufficiently close to Galle for any dinner/amenities required. Elke has built a serene jungle escape and we would, without doubt, return for another stay (for more aerial yoga!)
Cons: Some rooms have blinds without curtains, but the staff put up sheets in the evenings to lessen the light exposure at our request. Food was good quality but expect to pay a little more than the Sri Lankan standard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Elke and the staff were fantastic and very welcoming. The house is lovely with great facilities, away from the hussle of Galle Fort. We took part in the meditation morning session which was fantastic and a great way to start our day.
Cons: We are just sad we didn’t stay longer and really appreciate the peaceful gorgeous house.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: An oasis, beautiful accommodation, wonderful staff including responsive and professional Owners, food was amazing, pool was huge and lovely... what’s not to love?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is small boutique hotel approximately 20 minutes form Galle on a tea estate. The house and gardens are absolutely gorgeous with a stunning pool. There are daily yoga sessions taught by Elke who also owns the hotel. She is very experienced and the sessions are wonderful. All the staff are so helpful and the freshly made food is delicious.A highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyting was perfect and attention to detail quite remarkable. The house sits right in amongst stunning trees with the pool jutting unto the jungle to create such strong connection with nature. Delicious food served on the divine terrace from breakfast to dinner means you just totally relax. Or enjoy Elkes daily meditation and yoga classes in beautiful space overlooking hillside. Massage treatments plus tea plantation tours and other delights also available. There is nothing to fault.
Cons: Probably the best boutique hotel ever. Unique mix of incredible style and 5 star comfort and yet I felt like I was at home and could totally relax. Absolutely fabulous place created by Elke and her exceptional team.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Being in the mountains with uninterrupted views, quiet and peaceful. The beautiful building and attention to detail, the yoga classes, the food was delicious, staff were attentive and very service oriented. Spending New Year’s Eve there was very special. What a treat.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: beautiful room, and also lovely places to sit and relax
Cons: cant think of anything
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Niyagama House is nicely off the beaten track at the top of a tea plantation in a very peaceful setting. The room was comfortable and clean with a lovely four poster bed. The bath room was clean and functional too. The food was excellent and was able to be adapted to my wife's requirement for gluten-free. The service was great though everything is freshly cooked so preparation time needs to be allowed for. The pool area is very nice. Although they don't serve wine or beer, they are happy for you to bring your own and will provide appropriate glasses and even serve it for you. The yoga classes and spa treatments were also excellent.
Cons: The room needed some maintenance - only one of three bedside lights was working and the A/C was so noisy that we had to get it looked at by the manager climbing a ladder in our room at 10:30 at night when my wife was already in bed. We would not have slept without!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: environment nice, yoga class nice, service nice.
Cons: bathroom no ventilation, wet after take shower! for activity offered by property, better to clear the price before offer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Elle and Prasad were very helpful before and during our stay. Thanks to Elke for preparing the birthday cake for us. It’s a pity that our stay is too short that we can’t enjoy the yoga class with elke. Hope to come back to this beautiful place.

Pros: The hotel is really beautiful and the staff is great. A very quiet and beautiful place in Galle
Cons: Do not take the soaps from the bathroom!! My little daughter took them, a employee checked before we went and he said from the window to the manager when we were leaving. We had to take them out of the suitcase even if it was already inside the car. They told us that the boats were ceramic. It is diferent from other hotel that you can take them. The situation made us feel a little bad and uncomfortable.

Pros: Property was pretty calm, clean and comfy

Pros: When I booked the hotel on the way to Galle by train from Colombo, the owners replied promptly and they (the owners !) came to pick me up at the station in one hour. He drove me to the Galle Fort as I asked to see the sunset, and they took my luggage to the hotel. When I arrived at hotel in the evening I surprised how clean it is and how fancy it is ! It was a big good surprise. Inside of the hotel is extremely clean and you will feel you can walk around barefoot. The owner and the staffs always make sure you are okay, if you have some request, don’t hesitate to ask them. They are willing to help you and make you satisfied. About the breakfast, as I am vegan I asked them vegetarian choice, then they tried to make the vegetarian breakfast for me. As the review of their breakfast was super good, I tried the curd with kitul sugar(natural one), and it was sooooo good. They have nice Yoga shala outside (currently it’s a dining space). When I practiced yoga in the morning, I saw a cow coming inside to eat some bush, iguanas, squirrels, birds flying around. The breeze from the trees were also nice, it was so peaceful moment.... The owner is a quiet guy, and his close friend also- but once you start talking with them, they has some humor to make you laugh unexpectedly. It was good to talk with him.
Cons: None I forgot my ring in the room and I didn’t notice it, when he notice my ring he texted me and he brought it to my next hotel in Mirissa for free!!!! Thank you so much for your kindness!

Pros: This was definitively the best hotel we stayed in during our Sri Lanca vacation! The house is spacious and very well kept, the huge garden is lovely with a great pool (especially at night) and a turtle that is running around. The staff is very friendly and breakfast as well as dinner were exceptionally good. The surrounding are quiet and only a few minutes away from the fort by TucTuc. Absolute recommendation!

Pros: The staff is amazing! Very nice, caring and professional. The Villa is beyond beautiful, clean, where everything has been taken care of. Frangipani smell, quietness, birds singing...it’s paradise! The food is amazing. Best breakfast I’ve ever had in my life and had the chance to try buffalo curd with kithul palm syrup...heaven! The spa is also spectacular! Nishshanka, the therapist, gave me the best massage in Sri Lanka! Loved it! I’ll be back very soon to this wonderful Villa.
Cons: I liked everything!

Pros: The location is great inside the fort easily walkable to sights, restaurants and cafes. The hotel is beautiful and staff are all so friendly. We had breakfast both mornings and an evening meal and it was one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. Could not recommend more!!!
Cons: The only thing missing is a pool but with so much to see and do in galle not essential

Pros: Amazing experience! Great value for the service you get which is very special
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was stunning, staff were very helpful and the food was delish. The location was walking distance to everything you needed.
Cons: Our room was cosy - smaller than any other place we stayed but still spacious. Wished the hotel had a pool as it was incredibly hot in Galle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Being the only guest during my 1 night stay, I felt like this place was a real house with living area, patio and bedroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent inside the Fort. Staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. Thank you to Chamath who went out of his way to make our stay unforgettable - For instance we wanted to rent a scooter and 30mins later there is one in front of the hotel waiting for us. We felt really taken care of. Also many thanks to Wasantha and Shanika. Decor was gorgeous - the owner can come decorate my home anytime. The food was amazing thanks to Nalin who is a wonderful chef, who also made us "special request" dishes. We tried a few "famous" eateries outside that could not begin to compare with the excellent food at Taru Villas. Don't eat anywhere else.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, beautiful building, and impeccably clean
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Villa is conveniently located, and the staff were very attentive. We had taken up 2 rooms, and the property was all to ourselves on the days we were there. It felt very private and intimate, and the staff made us feel very welcome. It was nice to call it home for a few days !!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: food in the restaurant was very good relaxing place with great and helpful staff yummy breakfast sandy beach close by is good for snorkeling and bathing
Cons: some mold in the shower
9.6 Excellent
Pros: situated by the beach; extra helpful staff; possibility to rear scooter; happy hours for drinks
Cons: the cabana is a bit old, needs some renovation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing and specially, service from Anthony was great. He is a really a great asset to the company. So please look after him since he is all about to make a difference. Keep up the good work.
Cons: There is nothing to highlight.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Massive room, comfy bed, hot shower, excellent aircon (when there wasn’t a power cut), huge bed (over 7ft long!), beautiful views, the sound of the sea, numerous options to sit/lie & chill (balcony, sun beds, beachfront seats), staff service was perfect (thank you Anthony in particular), watching the turtles in the sea was a unique experience, food was good (try the chilli & garlic calamari...hot!), happy hours with 2-4-1 drinks (1-2pm and 6-7pm)...and the beach itself was very relaxed and never too busy. The pros definitely outweigh the cons.
Cons: We stayed in room A-2 rather than one of the Cabanas so can only comment from that perspective but the road noise and occasional very loud train did make sleeping beyond 6am a bit of a problem. Although we were never in bed late as everything close by (and the hotel) shuts at 10pm so we did always get a good sleep overall. The other strange concept was having to order your dinner by 5/5.30pm if you wanted it. When I’m paying as much as this for a hotel I do expect to choose when/if I eat and make a late decision if that takes my fancy. The restaurant is advertised to the outside world so what do they do if someone walks in off the street at 8pm and asks for a table?! Although another minor complaint in what was generally a positive experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place! The staff was absolutely lovely, caring and helpful, in special Antony. The cabana was very nice and clean. Breakfast was amazing and dinner also delicious! Thank you these wonderful days. We would recommend the Rockside Cabanas Hotel 100%
Cons: Everything perfect!!!
6.3 Good
Pros: Being so close to the beach was great. Anthony was really lovely and so helpful! He was so friendly and nothing was too much to ask from him. He organised taxis for us, recommended places for us to visit, arranged for us to have our breakfast on the cabana and was generally a very lovely friendly person, he really made our stay there. Mini bar prices were cheap, and aircon worked very well. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection of food. also the Tuk Tuk driver opposite the hotel was great he gave us his number and was always there whenever we needed him he recommended places to us and was very friendly! I would recommend using him
Cons: The cabana bathroom roof was cracked meaning when it rained the floor was slippery and wet. There was only a very thin small sheet for a bed cover which was not very comfortable. The whole place just looked a little tatty and old, it could be a really really lovely hotel if a bit of money was spent on it, it could do with a refurbishment. One night we had two rats run down the inside roof of our cabana, we asked to be moved rooms by which the hotel owner told me it couldn’t possibly have been a rat and she won’t move our room. To which I told her I won’t be giving her a good review and she was completely unwilling to help in anyway. So the next morning she found us another room in the main hotel, another cabana also had a rat in it and she set traps to catch them and release them elsewhere. The cabanans are extremely dark and could Do with a nice big window or sliding door.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property right on the beach, very helpful and professional staff. And the owner went out of her way to please us. We stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed every moment.
Cons: The bathroom had not much ventilation.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property with incredible staff, especially Antony who handled everything - front of house, guest relations and service at the restaurant. The cleaning and kitchen team were all friendly and very welcoming. Great food served at the restaurant. Location was perfect, close enough to walk to other properties and restaurants, and still have that peaceful relaxing experience that isn't too busy. Ten minutes from Unawatuna, and fifteen minutes from Galle Fort for a more busy tourist vibe. Beautiful beach with turtle watching from your balcony.
Cons: Unfortunately we had four days of torrential rain which brought about a few unforeseen issues in one of the two rooms we had booked, however the team ensured our comfort and offered a great alternative room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant staff, very helpful. Assisted in resolving any questions, agreed for the early check-in and late check-out. Good breakfast, very nice view and the hotel area.
Cons: A little bit expensive restaurant.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: With an array of places to sit and, relax and take in the beautiful surrounds, the intimacy of this hotel was perfect for a relaxing stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was beautiful and awesome in the morning. Usually we got to go to a particular location to have the breakfast but in this place it was great. We had our breakfast outside of our room. Very well organized and very friendly owner. The villa has a lake behind the backyard. Also you can have a boat ride with the villa owner too. Which is a great experience we had so far. The breakfast was actually English breakfast. We enjoyed the tea also which served very well. Thank you for accommodating us! Much recommended and has plenty of privacy. Room was very comfortable. Bathrooms are nice. Our room also had a small kitchen kind of a area. It was more amazing. Seems to be purpose built location for tourism accommodation service providing. We as couple enjoyed our stay at your villa! Thank you very much!

Pros: The owner was lovely and for an extra fee he did a safari in the lake with us . We loved it. It’s a lovely villa exactly like in the pictures . You can get a Tuk Tuk and go all around . I do recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was Perfect location, Great owner/ staff. Value for money, nice Simple Breakfast.
Cons: It will be better if they can provide AC Rooms.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host/s are great, ready to help always, cleanliness is awesome, pretty decent overall. Can't say over the top, for a couple of nights or 1 night it's peaceful.
Cons: Transportation is a bit of a pain, it's not walkable as about 2 kms. To the city centre.. And the owner who has a tuk tuk will charge 200 lkr, which is high as Uber when available with aircon doesn't cost more than 150 lkr. No TV in the room, plus the room was booked for 2 people, there was only one who eventually checked in, the owner could have considered a slight reduction in the charges or on tuk tuk ride free of charge, would have been a small but good gesture. Breakfast was English.. Nothing Sri Lankan, except fruit /s.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love staying here! It's my second time. Mr. Mervin and Chandra and their lovely family always make me feel so welcome. Breakfast in the garden and a tuk tuk ride to Galle or Unawatuna beach and beyond is not a problem. Mr Mervin knows all the best places to go! Will definitely be back! Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality, Mr. Mervin, Chandra and Sandeep!
Cons: Nothing. I love it here! It's a home from home and perfect getaway place to recharge and re-boot!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: One of the best beach properties I've ever stayed at. A wonderful experience. The breakfast spread was amazing!
Cons: The layout of the washrooms may not be for everyone. Great amenities but it's completely see through so not everyone will be comfortable with that. Also, they restaurants could have more vegetarian options. Especially for dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were staying at a garden room and it was great for the kids to run on the grass as we were having our coffee.
Cons: Only the overhead shower (rain shower) was working and it was not always convenient.

Pros: Room is like a full apartment, very spacious. Two sinks in the bathroom is very convenient. Bathroom also has a bath. Facilities are good. Big outdoor pool. We asked for a late check-out; we could stay till 14:00 and make use of the Spa Facilities to dress-up.

Cons: We allways go there every time we are in srilankan Love the staff, hotel Amezing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: That was a long time I did not have breakfast in the room. That was a great service and beautiful view for a breakfast. This resort is small enough to feel like a boutique hotel but big enough to offer all the facilities. Yes it is pricy for Sri Lanka but this is real international level and service. The ocean view room are just gorgeous and very large. Bathroom is spacious and with two separated space for each of us.
Cons: no table in the room for the breakfast

Pros: Gorgeous rooms and really quirky touches, which really made the stay! Beautiful iced tea on arrival, and really yummy breakfast! Great coffee and tea too. Great stay and accommodating staff, filled with lots of local tips to share with us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very warming and kind, their breakfast degustation was one of the best we had in Sri Lanka. The situation is perfect. We took the cheaper room and was very nice and very well decorated.
Cons: Just staying one night.
7.9 Good
Pros: It was very convenient as it is located within the fort. Everything is within walking distance. Bed was comfortable and even though our room faced the street and cafe, it was quiet. Welcome from the staff was commendable during check in. Breakfast also only started at 8 but they accommodated and prepared breakfast earlier for us as we were leaving for the airport at 7.30am.
Cons: Nothing significant. Breakfast and check out was a little messy. But it was because there was only one staff handling all of it which was probably because he was accommodating to our early breakfast.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cool and charming small boutique hotel. Liked the deco and all it's details. Breakfast was outstanding, worth trying even if you don't have a room in the hotel! Staff was nice and the location great.
Cons: There were no water running in our room at least in two hours after breakfast. We couldn't take any showers or use the toilet. In the evening we had to take cold showers, because the shower didn't give any warm water then. Not nice for that priced room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice welcoming with complimentary homemade iced-tea. Beautiful lobby and lounge upstairs. Descent room with some nice authentic touched. Breakfast was a surprise that we both enjoyed enormously... Staff was very helpfull and shared a lot of info.
Cons: Nothing to actually complain about!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Historical house with mixed colonial and local decoration. Chamara made us a traditional breakfast with detailed introduction of each dish. Room is clean with all necessities though ac a bit noisy. Cycling the fort streets in the morning is a great experience. We enjoyed staying here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a really beautiful hotel and was very nicely presented. The breakfast was delicious and the owner and staff were very friendly. Great location for exploring Galle.
Cons: The pool was very small and a bit awkwardly situated in the reception/cafe area- it looked a bit bigger in the photos but was really just a plunge pool.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The entire place has a lot of history and many interesting touches to match its uniqueness. We were impressed by the evening green tea as well as morning coffee/tea by the terrace. The 5 course "Prince's Bresgustation" were phenomenal, very tastefully prepared, healthy yet very delectable. Location is within the Fort which we really enjoyed our leisure sunset walk.
Cons: Please prepare conditioner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was excellent. Beyond what we had hoped for. Thank you
Cons: Our room wasn’t made up each day, which would be the only thing that could have been improved on.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property and excellent location
Cons: Hot water didn’t work and shower heads need replacing to something more conventional
7.9 Good
Pros: The room was very clean, comfy and lovely. Loved the pool which was not very deep and was rarely crowded. Had it all to myself most of the time. Most of the food I had were delicious. The service staff was really nice, friendly and humble. Especially one of the service staff, Asitha was extra helpful and courteous. The few discomforts could be easily overlooked as the staff made every possible effort to make the stay comfortable. For example, they made arrangements for Sri Lankan breakfast on request even when it was not on the menu and had to arrange from outside I guess. Very close to Galle Fort.
Cons: The common use areas could have been more cleaner, for example the cusions on the living area couches looked like they've not been washed for a long time. The menus have very limited options, and needs to be improved. The satellite TV had very few channel options & I regretted leaving my laptop behind thinking I'll watch movies on TV. And there's no spa facilities within the premise. The facility info listed on the bookings.com is a little misleading.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was a little out of the centre, but the hotel provides complimentary tuc tuc ride into town which takes a few minutes which was great. Really nice having the pool to cool down. Pros: The property is surrounded by excellent restaurants and very close to the beach. Breakfast was a disappointment but the a la carte Sri Lankan fare was very good. The staff are very friendly, great pool and lovely view of the greenery.
Cons: The breakfast was very ordinary, staff service was slow and even the tea was from teabags. The room we were in had cockroaches. We also had a medical emergency with our child and the restaurant did not have a car service or access to a doctor. The construction and rooms are quite child unfriendly. They also charges us a bomb for the airport transfer.

Pros: great breakfast, quiet location in amongst the trees with the monkeys, not too far but far enough from beach hustle and bustle, restaurant food delicious, very efficient and attentive staff, room quirky but quaint, lovely balcony over pool, pool very relaxing and refreshing. Pros: The breakfast was delicious. The garden was a beautiful calm oasis. It was a lovely building to stay in and although we had the most basic room it was still lovely. The location is great. Very short walk to the beach and close to many cafes and restaurants. Very good value for money
Cons: The Wi-Fi was very limited in our room which was probably because we were further away from the main building
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good spacious rooms with garden view. Friendly staff! Laundry service! Great experience can only recommend!
Cons: Wifi could be better, especially in the public areas :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really calm and quite place, love the garden, staff was very helpful
7.9 Good
Pros: Excellent pool, building is beautiful dutch heritage and the grounds surrounding are fantastic
Cons: We booked standard room which is what we got - bed was not comfortable. We were asked if we'd like to pay more to be bumped up. There were very few other guests in the hotel. When we stayed elsewhere and higher standard rooms were available, we were accommodated in them without thinking - may be an idea for this stay especially in quiet season. Overall a great facility just let down by the standard room and uncomfortable bed
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The old building was interestng.
Cons: Disinterested attitude of staff. Very poor breakfast of one processed sausage and a cols fried egg that had obviously sat waiting to be served for some time. The morning I wanted to swim in the hotel pool it was full of people/children Not from the hotel. Bugs in the room. The hotel should unblock gutters and allow the free flow of water from the walk ways outside the rooms. Trees had twigs and small branches waiting to fall on your head. Maintenance, if you can call them that, used power tools during the breakfast time. No visible management in this hotel!
7.5 Good
Pros: We booked on line but asked to upgrade as basic rooms musty - superior room was excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice room with comfy bed and beautiful garden & pool view. Very nice and professional staff offered us welcome drink, cleaning service (especially our cleaning lady Chandrika) and very good breakfast! The hotel area is very well ordered and maintained. Swimming pool is very good and clean but has a little sharp floor surface, just be careful
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We arrived at this hotel as a coincidence since we had to change our hotel. This hotel has it all. Huge and super comfortable room. Very clean. The workers of this hotel are incredible, from the reception, the restaurant, cleaning, security and swimming pool. It is an important value of my great stay
Cons: Nothing, everything was incredible.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The pool was lovely and big. Location wasn’t too far from the main beach of Unawatuna and dinner was good.
Cons: Staff didn’t seem to care, and their attentiveness was lacking. Although the location was close to the beach, to get there required a precarious walk along the main road, which at night was rather dangerous. We thought our room was ‘tired’ looking, with paint falling off the wall and general lack of cleanliness. The reception phone could be heard loudly from our room - it was left ringing quite often. One night we were woken up by the sound of cats screaming in the hallway - no effort from staff was made to address this.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff, rooms and location. Very good breakfast!
Cons: Swimming pool is not very clean.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location was close to main beach. We had seaview room, although it was near the street and quite noisy at night.
Cons: Bedsheet/ towels were very old, one was not appealing to use them. The towels seemed to be dirty because of dark orange/ greyish color. We asked for iron, which they never brought. Overall hotel very old. And it had facilities of hardly a 3 star hotel, not a 4 star defenitly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: All the facilities, the pool, the staff, the room and the restaurant with plenty options.
Cons: They don't like to keep the bill for the checkout, they preferred you pay any order straight away.
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice facilities, clean hotel,
Cons: Staff need to be trained in customer orientation and needs of customers. Can be ignorant at times. No regards for customers,
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our room was very big and light with a great view on the beach. The staff was very nice, helpful and always smiling. The breakfast was good with a lot of different food to choose from. The pool is nice and quiet so you can really relax.
Cons: The water from the shower was sometimes cold.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast was good. The place, especially the common areas, is pretty and could be much better if only they took care of it.
Cons: The place is SO dirty, the room was disgusting, luckily we had beach shoes and could wear them to move around, the pool is dirty everything is old and dirty with holes on the bad sheets and so on. Customer service is really poor, they called our room five minutes after checking in asking that we come back to pay the bill, never happened before. We asked about the breakfast price as it was not included in our rate and they gave us a wrong price different than the one we had to pay for, nothing major but yet again unpleasant and no one from the staff apologised.. they were all speaking almost zero english. No wifi, zero connection anywhere! Quite expensive for Srilanka and for what we got.
8.3 Excellent
