La Pluie de Roses - Giverny - Building

9.6 Excellent (262 reviews)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very pretty house surrounded by flowers.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful time at La Pluie de Roses. The house (built at the beginning of the 20th century) is very romantic: the living room, the suite, the sunroom that doubles as a breakfast room were evocative of the luxurious air of La Belle Epoque. The host, Luciano is friendly, knowledgeable and multi-lingual - and a fantastic cook: his French omelette was perfectly done. Did I mention the beautiful rose garden (hence the name of the B&B)?
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I liked the close proximity to Monet’s Garden and Foundation. It set the mood for a simpler and gentile time that reflected the era of impressionist movement. Our hosts were very gracious. Wonderful breakfast too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The decor of relaxing French country included minute details giving us a feeling of peace and contentment.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: very good breakfast-friendly host
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house and gardens are beautiful and the surrounding roads are full of charm and character.
Cons: This was a lovely place to stay. Luciano couldn't have been more helpful and breakfast was delicious. We had secure parking inside the grounds. It is great if you are visiting Monet's gardens as it is just down the road.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We recently spent three nights at La Pluie de Roses. We have traveled a great deal over decades. Our experience at La Pluie de Roses was among the best we have had in all of our travels. Our host, Luciano, his wife, Christina as well as their daughter who was visiting while we were there were wonderful. As an example, I asked Luciano about where to find an item for our travels. Within a few hours he had driven to a store several km away, gave it to me and refused to take reimbursement. The breakfast was wonderful. Luciano was a delightful host who made our time very enjoyable. Despite the language barrier, we spent several hours talking with him. His sense of humor added an unexpected dimension to our visit. His wife was very helpful and his daughter, during her visit helped us make arrangements by calling our next B&B to prepare some necessities. The property is stunningly beautiful, inside and out. The grounds are abloom with flowers. There is a lovely pond, serpentine pathways and a gazebo. There are many tranquil spots to sit and relax.
Cons: Nothing to add.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: La Pluie de Roses is a traveler's dream come true. The owner is a gracious, generous delight, Breakfast was delicious, the room was charming and spotless, the whole experience was perfect. Thank you!

Pros: Our host, Diana, was a lovely lady who went out if her way to make us feel comfortable and at home. She even escorted us to the hire car depot to drop off our car and took us back to the property.

Pros: It was the perfect location and an excellent host.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house was beautiful in an absolutely fantastic location in the heart of Giverny. Breakfast was fantastic each morning and our host Diane was kind, helpful and friendly. Thank you for a lovely holiday!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We love the place:) It is cozy, romantic and the hostess very lovely. The location could not be better - just in a short walking distance from all the sights, galleries, Claude Monet´ s house and gardens, boulangerie, cafe, restaurants, poppie-fields etc. The breakfast is delicious, served with a very good taste. We highly recommend the place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, clean excellent facility, like home!
Cons: No.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Diana is an amazing host, her B&B is beautiful and she gave lots of advice about the area and where to eat. The rooms were spotless and charming, really appreciated having a kettle in the room!
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like! There is a very short but steep-ish hill to get to the property though
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room that we stayed in was lovely. Big bed. Beautiful view from window. Felt like a home away from home. Diana was so incredibly lovely and made us feel so comfortable. She made a beautiful brekki up for us the following morning which included homemade jams. It was delightful. If you’re wanting to stay in Giverny, you can’t go past this house. You’d be missing out.
Cons: Can’t think of anything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was like visiting a family friend - Diane was so accomodating and went above and beyond. She put so much thought into all the arrangements for the room and the breakfast. We had a wonderful stay. It was a short walk to Claude Monet's House and Gardens, and we had a very enjoyable stroll through the beautiful village. Breakfast was fresh fruit, freshly baked pastries, home made jams, fresh bread, locally produced yoghurts, tea and coffee. Absolutely magical, I was reluctant to leave.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location for our visit to Monet's Garden in Giverny - within walking distance. Plenty of parking and good directions sent in advance by the property owner. We were given a very friendly and helpful welcome. The breakfast was very good with fresh fruit, yogurts and homemade jams as well as the ubiquitous croissants and baguettes. Diana also made sure she provided decaf coffee for us on our second morning after we had mentioned on our first day that we usually drank that.
Cons: Only the weather!
La Pastorale - Giverny - Bedroom
3
9.6 Excellent (72 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Set in Giverny, 600 metres from Claude Monet's Giverny Gardens, La Pastorale offers a garden and free WiFi access. Guests can enjoy garden views. The room at the bed and breakfast is equipped with a seating area and a flat-screen TV. The unit has a desk and a kitchen as well as a private bathroom. A private garden and a parking garage are also available. The nearest airport is Paris Beauvais-Tille Airport, 60 km from La Pastorale.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: La Pastorale was beautifully appointed with much attention to detail. It combined, quite perfectly, the old and new. Modern bath and kitchen, KS bed...all much appreciated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Can’t say enough about how wonderful this place is. It’s a cottage, beautifully decorated, within an easy walk to Monet’s home. Easy free parking is close. Breakfast is lovely. Perfect spot for a great visit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: La Pastorale was the perfect dream come true! Clean, comfortable, quiet and very close to Monet's house, which was a dream of mine! We arrived a bit early and met Philippe an his wife cleaning the cottage. Very kind people! This was an exquisite charming french chateau. We celebrated our anniversary there and truly didn't want to leave.
Cons: NOTHING! It was perfect!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice location. Property all to ourselves. Everything we needed. Ace.
Cons: Property awkward (first time) to get to due to the one way system in Giverny, and parking a little difficult. Otherwise all excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Philippe is Wonderfull, very helpful and the breakfast was super!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was splendid!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Somehow I had missed the fact that La Pastorale is a separate cottage rather than a multi-guest B&B. It is absolutely charming. Flowers everywhere. Plenty of space in the comfortable living & dining areas. Excellent bathroom with big shower stall. Bedroom not large but nicely decorated. Kitchen was small but well equipped. Everything spotlessly clean. Breakfast items provided were fresh and tasty, and the dining table was nicely set. Very peaceful. Parking in private locked courtyard. About a 10-minute walk to Monet's home. (Buy tickets online at least 24 hours in advance!!!) Even if this weren't located near a special landmark, staying here would be delightful. It felt like home, but not like we were intruding in someone else's home. Very comfortable.
Cons: The house was a bit hard to find and, if you're driving, vehicle access is tricky due to one-way streets. Definitely contact the owner beforehand to arrange meeting. (I hadn't realized we would be the only guests, so there was no-one there when we arrived. My fault!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charm, beauty, comfort, quiet, lovely outdoor space with chaises... After a satisfying stroll through the town and Monet house and gardens, I had a wonderful nap in the sun. Our host, Philippe, went out of his way to pick us up and later deliver us to the train station in Vernon. Our only wish was that we’d scheduled more time there—maybe two or three days to relax in beauty and visit more of Vernon and surrounding noteworthy sites. BTW, we had the whole house (circa 1800’s) to ourselves (my granddaughter and I); there was one additional bedroom, unused.
Cons: Nothing; it was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kind service with delicious breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house and fantastic location. Very nice owner, who kindly drove us back to Vernon station.

Pros: excellent location close to Monet gardens, very welcoming host, nice, clean, comfortable rooms

Pros: Carine is a lovely hostess and we enjoyed meeting her. She sent us a photo of the driveway beforehand which made finding the house very easy. Her pain chocolat was amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Even though we could only stay overnight, it was a very pleasant experience. Carine was very communicative and a gracious hostess. The property was very comfortable and relaxing. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is magical. We stayed here for one night to recover after our transatlantic flight before heading out to Western France (it's a 50 minute drive from CDG) and it was like going from airplane misery to heaven. It's a 5 minute walk to the gardens in Giverny, the lovely hostess provides a fantastic breakfast, and we spent our evening sitting on the patio and snacking. I can imagine that if you were actually in town to see Giverny, you couldn't find better.
Cons: Nothing, it was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to Monet gardens, cleanliness, very caring owners, delicious breakfast, comfortable beds, overall great!

7.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful gardens
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant is brilliant. Staff welcoming and efficient. Location and surroundings are near perfect.
Cons: Would prefer a bathroom door that is not louvre
7.0 Good
Pros: Location, lovely grounds, restaurant beautiful and delicious
Cons: No one offered to assist with luggage, no turn down service , no clean towels brought at night, service not particularly friendly
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and the property was charming, with beautiful gardens. The location was very convenient to walk through the lovely little town. The staff was very friendly.
Cons: The room was very tasteful and the bathroom was huge but it had a louvered door that offered very little privacy. If you were sitting on the bed you could basically hear, etc everything (sorry to be so blunt). Also, we booked the property for the restaurant which turns out to be closed on Monday and Tuesday. When I asked if we could buy two glasses of wine to sit and enjoy the beautiful patio/gardens we were told the bar was also closed which seemed a bit ridiculous that a staff member wasn't allowed to arrange for a glass of wine (there are no shops in town and the mini-bar didn't contain wine or beer). We picked the hotel because I thought the bar/restaurant would make our first evening in country after a long day of travel very easy and relaxing. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed in and I didn't think it was worth the money, but might feel different if we were there a different day of the week.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The local restaurant (2 minutes from the hotel) which we needed because the hotel is only offering part time restaurant service was a delight. Everything in the room was pleasant and efficient. My wife forgot her bag at the restaurant but it was simplicity itself to retrieve it the following morning
Cons: Full time restaurant. Also the available drinks in the bar while excellent offered a very limited choice.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Decrepid stairs to lug bags to room. Circular staircase with uneven landings, no solid railing was quite dangerous
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A perfect, quiet, and beautiful location in a lovely garden, close to Monet’s Garden in Giverny, but far enough away that the crowds aren’t a problem. Our room was a suite with the bedroom in a loft above a big living room and gorgeous bathroom with a tub and a huge shower. Very nice breakfast in the sunroom, complete with a parrot named Mr. G and one morning a little kitty sat in my lap.
Cons: It’s perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Serene location and gorgeous accommodation. The bed was ultra comfortable. Staff were very helpful.
Cons: The breakfast seems expensive and could be included in the room tariff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice setting for breakfast and good service with boiling eggs
Cons: A little too warm in the room during night
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location! Location! Location! In village of Giverny, lovely walk to everything. Rooms very nice but not luxurious. Only surprise was high cost of modest breakfast
Cons: Cost of breakfast. Would suggest raising rooom rate but including breakfast

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The facilities were very well decorated. The breakfast was very good.
Cons: Could have used help with our bags.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful one night stay in this lovely B&B! Forest Farm is an old farmhouse and is spacious, clean and super. We were welcomed by the owner who gave us great advice about where to eat in Vernon with 2 small children and told us about the local area. The village is small and charming with a boulangerie, bird song and lots of calm. So pleased we came here on the way back to Calais after our french holiday!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our third stay at Forest Farm - a beautiful former farmhouse in idyllic countryside near Giverny, so ideally located for Monet's garden. Karl and Maria are hospitable English-speaking hosts and provide an excellent breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, tranquil location. Perfect for a family visit to Giverny and central Paris (by train). Fabulous breakfast with local produce.

With a stay at La Roseraie B&B in Sainte-Genevieve-les-Gasny, you'll be in the suburbs, within a 10-minute drive of Claude Monet's Garden at Giverny and Chateau de la Roche-Guyon. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A charming hostess who accommodated our slightly early arrival. She was very welcoming and helped with local restaurants and places to visit apart from Monet's Gardens. Lovely continental breakfast with good coffee. Essential! Very peaceful after a long day in Giverny.
Cons: Perhaps facilities for tea/coffee making would be good.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very helpful with information concerning restaurants and places to visit in the area.
Cons: The room was quite small and basic, and the noise from the people upstairs was very audible.
6.3 Good
Pros: The room was very small, just enough room for the bed. Adequate for a night’s stay, no TV or Wi-fi but excellent location for visiting Monet’s Garden
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the whole ambience of the suite was calm and relaxing and the owner was welcoming and helpful. Can’t wait to return.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: For visiting Monet's Garden at Giverny and sightseeing in local towns the location is good. The breakfast is an optional extra at 6.5 euros which represents fair value. Guests share a table and so breakfast is a sociable affair which we rather enjoyed. Note that unless you take breakfast your room is on a self catering basis.
Cons: Tea/coffe making facilites in rooms consisted of a kettle only - so go prepared with your own cups, spoons and tea or coffee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a warm welcome from our host who pointed us in the direction of a lovely evening meal at Les Bords de Seine, on the Seine, a short drive away. Our room was nicely furnished with a good shower room. The continental breakfast was fine, We didn't get an opportunity to use the pool but it looked very inviting. the grounds we well kept and provided many quiet seating areas. We think La Roseraie would be an ideal place to go to recharge the batteries for a few days and to explore the surrounding areas and to visit Giverny and Vernon.
Cons: All fine, perhaps a fan for hot nights.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The outside is a little austere, being a plain wall, but once inside everything is wonderful, a beautiful garden with pool and the accommodation is perfect. The hostess is very welcoming and speaks about 4 languages. Breakfast in the main house fulfilled all needs in a continental breakfast. Will definitely visit again being perfectly located for the gardens at Giverny.
Cons: There was nothing to not like. Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is located inside the walls of an old churchyard...amazing to be woken by bells.
Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: friendly, welcoming & helpful owner, delightful dog & 100+ year old tortoise, ideal for visiting Giverny. this was a return visit, & will certainly return again when visiting Giverny.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A gem of a place in a country village close to busy Giverny and Monet's garden. The friendly proprietor Sylvie was as charming as her property and gardens. We liked the private garden seating area provided individually for each room. The pool was very inviting too. A typical French breakfast of fresh bread and croissants with fruit cheese yoghurt and preserves was laid out in a lovely dining room overlooking the gardens.
Cons: Although directed by sign from the main road we missed the turning into the accomodation road. We assumed incorrectly that 'first right' on the main road sign referred to the right turn into the village. In fact it was right and right again so a second sign immediately as you left the main road into the destination road would have been useful. We were tired after a long day, misunderstood and missed it completely!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: We arrived with no issues. The friendly owner checked us right in. To our surprise, there was a wedding being cleared from the day before. All of those guests stayed an extra day, therefore we were upgraded to the loft cottage, separate from the main thirteenth century bed and breakfast, La Dîme De Giverny. Breakfast served at 9am in the mezzanine. Breakfast was outstanding! More than we could eat- coffee, breads with jam spreads, fruit, yogurt & granola, boiled eggs. Everything was beautiful, clean, and the local people were welcoming!
Cons: The air conditioning had to be emptied every four hours or so, or risked overflowing. The upstairs loft received no air conditioning and was hot for me, so I relaxed on the couch with the extra bedding (My husband was fine with the temperature. I run hot) Still wonderful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The entire facility is totally charming. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. We would have loved to stay even longer, it was so peaceful there. Breakfast was also delicious. Pros: Delicious breakfast. The selection was exceptional and seemed to be prepared with care and homemade ingrédients. Very kind hosts!
8.3 Excellent
Cons: there was a mix up about payment.. they dont accept cards, just cash and paypal.. i paid half upfront through paypal but it wasn't clear to me the other half would not be taken from my paypal account. I opened a paypal account for just this visit. It was quite obvious from Madames' face as she rushed out to stop me she felt i was trying to not pay the rest.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fine, large bathroom, free parking, terrace. Near the Monets gardens
Cons: Maybe a little too small bedroom.
6.8 Good
Pros: Beautiful grounds and garden with relaxing outside seating. Very large comfortable period room but for some strange reason whilst the shower and washbasin are installed in an unobtrusive corner, the the toilet is installed in the room adjacent to the fridge and only covered for modesty and privacy by a small moveable fabric screen. Owners didn't appear to be that friendly, and whilst breakfast was adequate, one croissant per person did seem a little mean. Such a shame that for us it wasn't a good experience. Our following nights next B&B was totally different with welcoming owners and good breakfast.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We were the only two for breakfast due to a plane strike impacting others yet the breakfast was over the top.
Cons: Would have preferred a shower to the tub we had.

The B&B runs an air conditioner in the main hallways. Our room was perfect - elegant and comfortable. Lovely family owns the B&B. Loved our experience and would gladly go back again.

Pros: A verry rich and tastefull breakfast.
Cons: We had too share toilett and bath room with the landlady and her family. We realy did not expect that, and we did not get any informations about that by booking. This was not correct!! Too it was very expensive for what we got. It was a big dog, a schäfer, who was walking around in the garden and jumpt up on me from the back. I was scared! Le Jardin d'Eden consists of just only one tiny room.

Pros: Very rustic but a nice room with seperate bath and w/c...just part of the house really. The garden is filled with sculptures by resident artists and madam will give you a tour of the studio. She is very helpful and friendly as is the very large dog called “Dragon”. You must have breakfast - it is wonderful.
Cons: The bed was huge but a little low down.

Pros: The owners Isabel and LORAN were fantastic! They made us so welcome. The could also speak English which was a great help. Thank you for a great stay.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Because the weather was hot, the hostess offered us the choice of whether to stay in a cooler room downstairs with a separate (and large) bathroom at no extra cost. The breakfast was good. We stayed two night's and the breakfast varied on both days.
Cons: You should be able to lock the room that you're staying in if you want to. There's a lock for the front door and for the gate to the house though.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds, private rooms together on one level
Cons: Very basic, nothing actually wrong
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful little B&B in the heart of Giverny, a short walk to the Monet gardens. We had the family suite on the first floor, which had a room with 2 twin beds and a room with 1 queen bed. In addition, there was a private bathroom with walk in shower and sink, as well as a W.C. with toilet and sink. This whole suite was separated with a door to the main sitting area, so it was very private. A continental breakfast was also included. The owner was lovely and speaks excellent English, which was helpful because our French is pretty limited.
Cons: The W.C. could use a deep clean - the baseboards were dusty and overall seemed liked it could use a good scrub, but everything else was very clean. We received a key to the gate and to the house, but the suites/rooms themselves do not lock or have a key. It didn't seem unsafe at all, but I would have preferred to be be able to lock the suite.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Very old house, no heat, bed had only a mattress, no box springs, inadequate pillows. Breakfast was a joke !!!!! A basket of bread and some jam plus orange juice. The coffee was rationed ! Never again
Cons: Terrible breakfast

Pros: Excellent stay, owners friendly and helpful, breakfast very nice and plenty of it.
Cons: Nothing
4.3 Okay
Pros: The building itself is quaint. It was clean, but we had ants in the bathroom. There were nice towels.
Cons: When staying anywhere I think there are basics that one would expect. A door with a lock to secure one’s valuables and oneself would be primary. This place had a front door that locked, but the rooms do not have a lock! I had to take my valuables with me when I went out to dinner as they could not be secured properly. I could not even bolt the door when I was inside my room. I felt very unsafe. For a solo traveler this would be outright dangerous. I slept with one eye open. After breakfast I went back to the room to change before going out. I was shocked when the proprietor barged into my room. She did not even knock. I was horrified. She said she thought I left and taken the key.
6.8 Good
Pros: Location was excellent. Hostess was most accomodating- dinner reservations, extra blankets
Cons: Arrangement upstairs with bathroom- A heavy drape separates your room and bathroom ( a few steps away from your bedroom) from a stranger's bedroom and bathroom. Very noisy arrangement. We were alone the first night but got very little sleep the second night when we had neighbors.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful home with lovely host and great location- short walk to the bike/ walking path.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner is exceptional, fluent English and warmly accomadating.

Pros: Wish we could have spent more time here. The area is fantastic and just hidden away. The Hotel is a B&B and is likely hundreds of years old and feels like you are sleeping around a garden. It was a wonderful experience and would love to go back.

Pros: Very authentic host and facilities. Plenty of room.
Cons: Mattresses could use refreshing. Wifi not the greatest, but it is an ancient town and facility, so impressed they had anything.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very kind host, amazing 500 year old buildings, clean, great location, comfortable beds; amazing bread and butter for breakfast
Cons: Bathroom and kitchen need updating/improved standard; could have more variety at breakfast

Pros: Great location! Rustic charm.
Cons: All was good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent
Cons: Unfortunately no record of our deposit payment of 142€ could be found and, as a consequence, we were required to pay this in full including an additional amount totalling 200€. My husband as re-checked his bank account and can confirm that 142€ was transferred on 21 February. A copy of the transfer can be provided if required. The owner was adamant that he had received nothing and, as we had a tight schedule we felt we had no alternative to pay the additional sum and sort this out afterwards. We believe we are owed the sum of 200€ less 10€ for a bottle of wine the owner kindly provided.
6.8 Good
Pros: The outside patio was lovely. Very close to town. Rustic and historical place.
Cons: Cracked dishes and wine glasses you wouldn't put your booze into.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quirky, charming, wonderful location. No mod cons, but perfectly adequate facilities, including tea-making
