The location was very handy for us.
all of my stay no english breakfast
Very expensive for an "overnight" hotel
Fresh, clean, nicely decorated and good range of breakfast items. A warm bedroom and very clean bathroom. We were surprise that there was a limited choice of drinks in the room and no biscuits
Location. Central for Southampton and the University area The rooms were cold as background heating kept at 14 degrees celsius when no one in room and took a long time to heat up.
A great hotel would go back in the future lovely breaksfast a great location for shopping The smoke alarm going off at 3.30 am in the am by a person who was smoking where they shouldnt have been !! hope they got fined
easy to find and to use the restaurant at night offer a poor menu
Everything was OK, friendly staff, i was a bit surpriced, hotel s located near M27 motorway, but room was very quiet.Restaurant was also OK, i missed full english brekafast and more food in menu
Breakfast : Polite and helpful staff Restaurant in hotel could have been more seperate from lounge area No other restaurant close by
very pleased with all areas of the hotel ,i have no complaints at all.
Staff were charming and very helpful. Location fantastic and bar extensive Hotel is a bit dated and not worthy of 5 star
No Air Con in room only a broken floor standing fan.
Noisy bar area with leaking roof
Excellent breakfast included, nice bar First room had (147) some intermittent mechanical noise but I requested move and they complied
Location, leisure facilities Being woken by cleaners moaning about other cleaners not doing there job very loud
We have now stayed twice at hotel and have found staff helpful and atmosphere very relaxing n/a
Room was large, well appointed and clean. More than I needed for the night, but recommended to me and with a late arrival I preferred a traditional hotel. No breakfast or coffee.
The whole experience - staff - accommodation - food N o
The high standard of service
the view from our window the breakfast wasnt as good as i expected, no pancakes!
Really good location for West Quay shopping Only grip was that the pillows were really hard and uncomfortable
it was a good stopover hotel in a good location. I left a ladies cream zip up fleece top in room 403. please could you arrange for it to be posted to me - Heather Tilley, 26 Kings Avenue, Carshalton, Surrey, SM5 4NX.
Room very clean, staff very helpful Bed was very hard.
Staff, bfast, first impressions and location Room, plaster work, upkeep of room
Nice central location, but room was smaller than I expected. Bathroom was very cramped even for someone my size (I'm under 5 foot). Size of bathroom.
The hotel is cery nice but the noise that I have during the night as my room was in the first floor
Leaving the hotel Rooms to small , only one small towel , evening meal and breakfast was very poor
Had to collect towels and pillows from reception as no one was available to bring them to our room. Quality of the room was poor.
Noise from other residents in night hours
The location of the hotel was excellent for my visit The tv kept switching off after 10 mins, couldn't get the internet except with staff's help and this completely ruined my website translation business for those three nights causing me loss of money (the wi-fi alternative in the lobby didn't offer me the privacy I needed), the room was over-heated inspite of lowering the temperature, the pillows were too small, there was a group of Bulgarians who checked out on the last night and they were so boisterous they kept banging doors between 2.30am and 4am it was a nightmare
Location was good Rooms very small, toilet almost unaccessable for a six footer.
Good value basic accommodation, which is what I was looking for and expected. Gunwharf Quay area was lovely - wish I could have spent more time there. Didn't like too much the local bars en-route to main town which was in local vicinity.
Good location nice gym and small pool a good hotel for business or leisure.I was however charged twice on my credit card and this was resolved by the management Food was expensive considering the local restaurants that were available in the area. GBP13.50 for breakfast seems on the high side when the IBIS Hotel was half of that price
Friendly and helpful staff Soiled clothing items from a previous guest left in the room.
the rooms were a good size and warm. there were no hand towels or wash cloths in room.
Convenient for cruise Paying for car park
Friendly informative staff, excellent breakfast, unique design of bedroom, bathroom and lighting Bedroom was too warm at night. difficult to open windows and would have been noisy
Good breakfast Uncomfortable beds. No decent tv. Swimming pool out of use. Small rooms.
The exercise room is fantastic and so are the people. The breakfast was amazing, clean, and hot. Need to replace the carpeting on floor 4. The bathrooms are new. the furniture in good shape, but the carpeting is horrible.
food in the restraunt was fantastic, staf were very friendly
adam was very helpful breakfast price too high
ony the above, rudeness of a member of staff
Excellent sized room & bed. evening meal included None
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were in awe over your leisure facilities, and we will most defonatly stay again No bad points
the rooms were comfortable. the swimming pool and sauna was relaxing.the showers temperature and force of water was very good.
Very comfortable stay at the Marriott. Staff were very helpful and polite. We even got a bottle of wine, fruit basket and chocolates in our room as it was our anniversary which was a lovely surprise. Would recommend.
Staff is very friendly. The pool is quite small and the jacuzzi was broken.
I got the food to eat in the hotel. That's the only point I can think of. I ordered a muffins in the cafe coffee day counter and I was served two day old muffinn to me Room Heater was not working when I entered the room and I was never told when I was making a booking that room heater will not be available in the summer season. this caused me lot of inconvenience as I went alongwith with my wife and a kid(5 months old). And I was literally shocked by this incident. Please please intimate people what you will offer and what you will not beforehand so that visitor can make decision accordingly whether to stay in your hotel or not
Location of the hotel was a little far away to local amenities and some more tips on Taxi companies to use would have been helpful.
The hotel is well located and easy to find. The staff were friendly and helpful - no problem when I asked for a later checkout. Would stay again.
ease of access, parking, catered fopr gluten free diet n/a
The improvements to the hotel and dining area are lovely. Very impressed with staff, especially the young blonde waitress who greeted us each mealtime with a smile, asking how our day had gone. Well done
Very nice decor Much to noicy - My room was right above a very busy street
Well appointed room with modern decor. Spacious bathroom with good shower. Liked the finishing touches of bathrobes and slippers. All staff polite and attentive and would definetely stay again at the reduced rate of £100 per night. Had lunch in the restaurant and it was very good. Would recommend. Liked everything! Having Stayed in Southampton hotels before (but not this one) I think other hotelliers could learn from these standards of comfort and cleanliness. Perhaps price could include continental breakfast.
Excellent location for transit to cruise ships, rooms well presented, food of a high standard, staff relations good.
room decorated very nicelly with luxury touches in a very nice refubrished 19 century wearhouse. Very nice coffee maker in the room, comfortable bed and the Italian food at the restaurant was great the hotel is part of a restaurant downstairs and have no proper lobby, looks more like a pub with rooms upstairs. The room was very hot but a very noisy fan provided. People coming from the restaurant stayed talking laudly and smoking under my room window until late hours, not ideal if you have to wake up earlier next day. Wireless internet did not work .
close to the red jet and cruise ports and good food T.V did'nt work, very hot in the room, no room service just a few things that if put right would make an excellant hotel
This hotel and the rooms are very nicely decorated. The beds are super comfortable. The bathroom design very well thought out. The staff is professional and very gracious. We were very pleasantly surprised upon checking-in and would not hesitate to return. The only negative would be the lack of air conditioning and our stay was during a "heat wave".
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The noise from traffic during the night
Car parking was poor. Only just enongh spaces
Staff were friendly, good having restaurant underneath the hotel. We arrived late so this worked out very well. Think that breakfast should be included within the rate charged for the room.
Smart modern rooms - very helpful staff - excellent food in restaurant Nothing - it was spot on
Friendly staff, clean and cosy rooms, good breakfast in lovely restaurant.
Excellent Inn, with superb rooms, and the best pub food we have ever found. Good and helpful staff Bed a little soft.
Food was excellent. Staff were friendly and very efficient. Room was a very high standard and price was reasonable. No bad points
Food and menu choice was excellent and staff very attentive and helpfull. Fullers Hotel so beer choice very good. Large room so not crampted.
Friendly and helpful staff. Very pleasant location with excellent pub attached for a quiet drink and also for dinner. Good pub food for the price and good beer. Rooms very comfortable and nicely decorated, also quite spacious. Room temeperature was perfect (although it was possible for guests to adjust it if necessary) - we were there in November. The included breakfast was excellent - a very good choice of traditional cooked food (including vegetarian) as well as pastries, cereals etc. My wife and I definitely plan to return for a longer stay. Very little, if anything, to complain about. The vegetarian dish that my wife ordered for dinner was a bit bland, but there were at least two other vegetarian dishes on the menu which may well have been better.
Excellent facilities, staff. Short stay but most enjoyable and will recommend to others
As described- lovely rooms, friendly service, well located. None
Good location for new forest area and we found the room excellent. all the staff were very pleasant . Food we found was too heavy with sauces but that was a personal choice. Would definitely use the Inn again when in the area
I most enjoyed the hospitality of the owners. I got a bigger room than that I'd booked. Nice restaurant and also nice breakfast.
room, staff food nothing
We were really inpressed with our room it was very clean, the bathroom was fantastic loved the shower. The hosts were very nice would go again hoping for a upgrade next time,
The White Star Tavern is in a great location for using as a base as everything is within walking distance. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast menu with food freshly prepared. Looking forward to staying here again.
Finding somewhere with a New Year's package was ideal, as 3 course dinner, bar tickets & breakfast were all included in the price
Excellent decor and facilities ,partculary good bathroom. No
Nice Area bed comfortable. Overall good accomadation but a couple of staff were far too busy for the number of people, ie 15 minutes to check out, restaraunt fully booked when we arrived, bar person no idea where we sould park the car which is a major problem as you can only wait for two hours. Very exspensive ie £8 for a 250ml glass of Pinot which I think is ott. £5 for a bacon sarnie. All eating however was of a comparable price so take plent of money.
Excellent room, very comfortable. Ideal location.
Nothing Exceptionally noisy. Dirty linen. Had to go and find the receptionist in the bar. I cannot fathom how this place managed to get a 5 star rating. Perhaps I should have been warned by the "tavern" in the name.
This is one of the most unique hotels that I have ever had the experience of visiting. The history of the property is fascinating - originally part of the White Star Line, to whom the Titanic belonged. The staff could not have been any more accommodating! This hotel is a keeper!
It was extremely handy for accessing our cruise ship at Gate 4 and served our purpose very well. Not quite the traditional hotel we expected but after initial surprise we found it to be comfortable and convenient for our purpose
Extremely proffesional and friendly staff
Friendly checkin How can i comment if i do not use this space for complaints? I do not like your questionairre and am abandoning it.
pleasant and helpful staff and very clean with cheery decor! loved the extra snuggly blanket and pillows provided in the room, plus had lots of toiletries which was very helpful for those of us that do not want to check bags on the plane. :) the showerhead pressure was non-existent and light came through the curtains making it a little difficult for sleep but still generally good! kind of wish they did room service though!
The friendliness and helpflness of the staff - they volunteered information without even being asked, about where to go etc. N/A
Breakfast should of been included for the price of the room
It was convenient for attending a concert at the Guild Hall. Car parking! You should not have to pay to park at the hotel. Arrangements should be made for customers to stay free of charge.
Staff were friendly, location was excellent, breakfast was great!
Modern, clean and good value for money. Not really - rooms were simple but fine for what was needed and paid for.
food very good.staff very helpful.most important of all two minutes from all the shops.all happy. no.
To be honest, not very much.
breakfast! the chef went out of his way to accommodate me willingly.
It was nice and comfortable. A little bit too far from the town centre. Needs a little bit more dust cleaning.
The room, staff, food, very comfortable bed,all in all first class No complaints at all
Breakfast Awful decor, rust in bath, horrible smell in place
Price - Summer Offer for 2 nights bed & breakfast. Our room was upgraded to deluxe. Excellant breakfast. No lift.
Hotel has a pool and was easy to find and had plenty of parking spaces. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was included in the price Powerful hairdrier provided. The bed was comfortable. The pool is small and quite claustrophobic - an odd shape to accomodate more than 2 adults wishing to swim careful 'lengths'. The jacuzi was noisy and intrusive and I didn't find the swim a relaxing experience - a great shame.
Restaurant and lounge bar area environment very comfortable with the staff very helpful. Bedrooms were in need of refurbishment. No air conditioning in rooms. Bathroom fittings in poor condition. Not the standard expected or seen previously from Hilton Hotels. Being mostly on one level, had a long walk to bedroom. Disappointed not to have breakfast, but could not justify the cost of £16.50 per person extra.
Room absolutely stunk of stale cigarettes. There was a sign on the door saying it was a smoking room but housekeeping staff in the corridor told us that this no longer applies. However, the room smelt so strong of cigarettes and there was an ashtray in the room. Smell had tried to be masked with air freshener but this made the overall smell worse. We only stayed 1 night to quickly get ready for and attend a wedding otherwise I would have asked for a change of room.
The comfortable bed!! Only a small point but I get irritated by small extra charges (bottled water in the room and car park). If you had charged an extra £4 for the room I still would have booked it, but I would have left without the feeling of penny pinching on the part of the hotel.
None Greeted by beer glass and rubbish on the reception steps.Told on arrival that the room telephone was not working and an offer made to move us to an alternative hotel but no apology. Room ridiculously far away from reception. Bathroom was grubby. No crisps, peanuts or similar snacks available at bar.
It was very comfortable and friendly. Convenient to my personal needs visiting relations at the University, and offered 10% discount in a couple of nearby eateries. Easy to find and plenty of shops and bars nearby. The breakfast was a self service buffet and more than adequate. However, for the amount of staff that were around during the breakfast service I did feel that they could have been a little more forthcoming.
The hotel is in need of a refurbishment, and the receptionist was didn't bother to say goodbye upon my departure, merely taking the card out of my hand without saying anything or even looking at me. The heating didn't work in my first room, and the manager refused to give me a refund. There are also signs on the tap water warning that you cannot drink it- so take your own water. Other guests were also very noisy at night time, and I overheard one mention that he was almost arrested the previous night for running naked through Southampton. I would suggest that this hotel is more suited to that demographic.
breakfast was excellent our room was on the end of the corridor, it was very cold, we had to ask for a portable heater.
Near city; warm in room; excellent breakfast; friendly staff Bathroom was cold - valve on radiator did not work; Hot water-only warm.
Overall the hotel was very good with excellent service. Good value. The shower was a little cramped and stairs would be difficult for older people
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was first class. n/a
The staff were very friendly. Breakfast room back back up and running.
Bathroom window very high had to climb on basin to open and close. Extractor fan didnt work. Cold water tap labled not drinking. Suggest you remove cold water tank and have just mains water.
Available and reasonably conveniently sited for the airport You can't open the window at all without letting in the rain - and I was too hot
location, friendly staff and excellent service No lift
Ease of transport. Wonderful services and staff.
Breakfast Bar prices
we only stayed one night so it was just somewhere to sleep staff were very helpful room was cleanand comfy and we went on our way with a good breackfast inside us no complaints at all
the room was immaculate. staff were friendly and helpful.
Room was very poor, next to the lift that took for ever to arrive!
The staff were all friendly. The room was large and comfortable and the food was of a high standard. nothing
Pleasant atmosphere, good food.
Very friendly and attentive staff, coping smoothly with 2 wedding parties as well as normal visitors Chaotic parking
The best location of the city. We had a good dinner there and very good breakfast. The rooms have different locations in the hotel and different prices. If you can, take the most expansive rooms to have a wonderful sea view, even if the rooms on the rearside are also very pleasant . A trip to the first part of the 20th century with modern comfort. No
easy to find, pleasant room, helpful staff, excellent breakfast. thought chandeliers magnificent....
Nice hotel with a good location in Southsea The showers in the bathrooms are under the level of the rest of the hotel
Position was very good and we checked in early with no problems
Friendly and helpful staff on check in. Really excellent room, clean, warm and nicely decorated. Nothing, although we didn't eat there so can't comment on that.
Interesting decor good central location Poor bathroom plumbing and type of shower fitments, try Mira
We thought the restaurant attractive with the most delicious selection of food. The wine offer was very reasonable
It's easy city location was perfect for the intended weekend's activities. The refurbishment complimented made a ambience of culture in a city that has been revitalised by inner investment
This hotel is excellently situated if you are going on a cruise and want to be relatively near the docks. West Quay shopping centre two minutes walk away. Hotel also has own large car park. Food and service in hotel restaurant is very good. Would definitely stay there again. Bathroom lighting very dim.
It was in bad shape, carpets dirty and in need of decorating
Free Parking Cost of Food & Drink
Access when returning late at night was poor with no onbgious way in - no sign on night bell. Noisy night club within building although not audible from our room. Room decor was poor and somewhat spartan.
The history and the information about the hotel. The connection to Jane Austen. The mix of old and modern and accessability to the ferry to the Isle of Wight being just a walk away, which suited our needs because of time limitations. It could improve by modernisation but must retain its original identity.
Service of staff was very personalised and their attention to detail was very obvious. Everyone was really friendly and the room very comfortable. No bad points although the bathroom was small.
Each room was extremely tastefully decorated in a beautiful style. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Excellent friendly staff, beautifully kept hotel.
The hotel was lovely, very unique and quirky! None
The "nothing is too much trouble" outlook of the staff, the quality of the decor and the location (good access to the main features of southsea)
The room was nicely done and comfortable
Confortable Bed, good shower No Mirror near a plug
The staff were very helpful and the rooms, breakfast were to a very high standard. I would have really liked to be able to have my evening meal at the hotel.
The service provided by Ele whilst we were there was outstandingly good, the room was immaculately presented and the bedding and towels were of a high standard. Please pass on our thanks to Ele. The only minor complaint would be the lack of adequate pressure to the hot water supply to the bath in Room 7 - it takes over half hour to fill to around 6 inches deep.
Comportable, friendly atmosphere. Good breakfast. Lacked lounge/sitting area to enjoy others company and have a drink.Seemed very late completion of daily cleaning/bed making.
