Pros: Everything was perfect. Better than I imagined: we have stayed in a lot of hotels,... in the last years, but this was definitely one of the best stays till now. We arrived a bit later, but everything was organised: a letter with a code, the keys, explanation about everything. I loved the Harry Potter accents, I didn't expect that. The room was even prettier than on the pictures. Breakfast was perfect too. I would love to come back again soon, we were very happy during our stay!!

Pros: This is a fabulous place to stay, the location is central and has free parking. Our room was huge with a spa bath and walk-in shower, tea and coffee plus bottles of wine for £15.00 if you are so inclined. The breakfast was substantial and tasty, using lots of local produce. The host was really welcoming and very happy to recommend places to visit, eat etc. There is some ongoing refurbishment but we did not experience any noise and were not disturbed at all. on our last day we had a little tour of the suites which are on the lower ground floor and these are really special. One has a double spa bath and a little sauna room. The three rooms on the lower ground are also interconnecting, so if you were staying as a big group they would be perfect.

Bathroom was also very modern and the room has everthing that is necessary to travelers. And the breakfast was great. Hot English breakfast with tea and fruits and cereals, all were prepared and provided with care. I could feel the owners' delicate touch in every corner of the room and the house.

Breakfast was lovely and you can choose what you want the night before. There is a pub just behind the B&B serving great food in the evening too. I had a side entrance straight to my room and a balcony/terrace to sit on in the evening which was lovely and private. I like baths too after walking and Jenny had also provided foam bath and a bath robe. The place is also a greyhound rescue centre and I hardly ever heard the dogs.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had booked 3 rooms for our party of six people. Communication from the hotel following the booking was very good and we had a very friendly welcome from Jane, the manager, on arrival. The rooms were very clean and well aired. It was one of the very few occasions in my experience of hotel rooms when there was no smell of fabric conditioner or air freshner in the rooms. The rooms were very well heated and there was a welcome pack of orange juice cartons and flapjacks. The location is ideal for exploring the town centre and promenade, which are just a very few minutes walk away. Local grocery shops like Tesco, Spar and Co-op are less than a 5 minute walk away. A word of warning - if you plan to eat out on a busy Saturday evening, it is advisable to book a table beforehand! Places to eat out are very limited and can be very busy, unless you plan to travel further afield...

Pros: Good location, friendly staff.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Thoughtful touches - ‘goody bag’ in room with juice and gluten, wheat and milk free flapjack, ideal for heading straight out for a short walk on the nearby fells. Generous supplies of UHT milk meant having having several cups of tea was not an issue. Bedroom was spacious and clean and the bathroom had a decent shower. Duty managers Rob and Renata were friendly and helpful.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clare House hotel was our ideal mix of : Comfortable, clean, polite, good accommodation, good location, and very good food (well above our expectation), all at a reasonable price ... and ... near our friends! the chief reason for choosing this hotel. A total pleasure to stay here! Not having been here before, we would not have known about Clare House except via the internet; we now know we can book direct, and other rooms not shown via the internet may be available / free.
Cons: Nothing bad ... everything was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is gorgeous! In a great location, fab staff, wonderful breakfast and we will definitely be going back!
5.5 Okay
Pros: The Hotel is nicely decorated and has nice views.
Cons: The room was exceptionally cold and the heating was turned off at 9pm. The windows are old which means the cold 4degree wind comes through them. The bedding was too thin and even the extra blanket was paper thin. It made our stay very uncomfortable. The staff didn’t really show much concern either.

Pros: Rooms lovely and modern Very clean. Food and staff excellent
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast excellent; location pefect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Upon arrival I was upgraded to a room with a wonderful view over the Morecambe Bay. So well appointed & comfortable with every amenity, excellent mattress & quality linen. Clare House represents a bygone era & is an establishment that members of my family have frequented over the past 50 years. Excellent value & especially as guests are invited to partake of a delicious 5 course evening meal for only GBP 20.00. Breakfast of a similar standard is served in the dining room. Friendly staff, great ambiance & it was yet another delete to stay!
Cons: Cant think of any negatives

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean hotel and friendly staff. Food lovely.
Cons: Only a 1 hour window for breakfast. Quality very good of breakfast but could only choose 1 starter and this included an orange juice option and I feel you should get this as part of a breakfast.....

Pros: The owner was very lovely. She looked after me very well. I had real bad blistered feet from walking coast to coast and she brought me up some salt Walter to help my feet. It was such a lovely touch. Such a lovely place and was such an incredibly stay. Would absolutely stay again if I was even in the area.
Cons: Couldn't fault anything.

Pros: Very comfortable room and a lovely warm welcome. Breakfast included was sufficient for our party as we had choice of fruit juice, yoghurt and fruit, cereal, sausage or bacon roll, toast, croissants, preserves, cheese and egg. Full English if ordered and paid for separately but we were extremely happy with what was included. Room bright, modern and beautifully clean and a big thank you to our hosts Geraldine and Dave

Pros: The old world grandeur, bit special.
Cons: Not a bad word to say, lovely hotel, nice staff,
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super place - with smashing facilities: pool, sauna, steam room etc. There had been a wedding on the day we arrived but we were not disturbed at all by the guests’ celebrations.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location,overall feeling of hotel,facilities.
Cons: Bed noisy, uncomfortable, woken by bin collection at 5.55am,small tv,room dark, poor parking facility. Buffet breakfast not up to rest of hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I thought the staff were accommodating and friendly. The establishment was spotless and I felt comfortable throughout.
Cons: Personally, I thought my room was too hot. A fan was supplied, but it did little to lower the heat! Only complaint!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, Relaxed Ambience, Heritage feeling, Quaint Corners, Sincere & Approachable Staff
Cons: Limited options at Breakfast (esp. for Vegetarians); restrictive timings for dinner - we were refused service for dinner while there was still time for restaurant closing - it was only after we escalated it to Reception Team, they accommodated us on their intervention
7.5 Good
Pros: If you like to travel in the time this traditional hotel is a place for you to stay. Rooms were specious and clean. We chose this hotel because of the pool for kids. After a swim we all regretted that. Too much chlorine made our eyes irritated. Food’s quality in restaurant were good. Staff were nice and professional. Breakfast was not as we expected from a 4 star hotel, some items listed on the menu were not available( egg was served only scrambled). Location was good, rooms were quite and we didn’t hear any noise. I would recommend this hotel for older couple for a relaxing and quite time.
Cons: Decor was out dated for me, food at restaurant a bit over priced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a beautiful comfortable bedroom with a lovely view of the bay. The food served at breakfast was varied and fresh and dinner was delicious.
Cons: Nothing to complain about from us.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, the staff and the night porters were very very nice and hospitable!
Cons: We were there for 3 nights and whilst they cleaned our rooms, I noticed our bed sheets had not been changed, I found that very odd as I’ve stayed in cheaper hotels that change bed sheets everyday! The reason I’m so sure is because there was a little cut on the bedsheet on my side that was there throughout our stay telling me the bedding wasn’t changed.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: No windows. For flesh air
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff are truly wonderful,
Cons: every thing around the hotel closes at 5 pm

Pros: Really good breakfast well cooked and hot.Lovely clean room.
Cons: Bed was a little low for me so would choose a different room next time but it wouldn’t stop me staying.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice location could be a fantastic venue just needs further upgrading.
Cons: The rooms and the whole venue need further improving updating which I appreciate is a costly exercise however the cost of the room due to the need of the upgrades is not good value
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The service was very good and the staff working there were very helpful and fond of their bosses the owners which is a very good sign i feel that the place is run well. The breakfast was excellent as was the restaurant and the bar was well stocked with a good selection of wine and gin ! We were given a complementary glass of Prosecco as it was our wedding anniversary which was a sweet touch
Cons: we could not have the room we wanted as someone had damaged it and it could not be repaired in time. We were given a lovely room in the annex and we were happy with it .I think the owner would have been better to advise us beforehand as in our case it was a special request for old time sake but overall it did not in any way diminish our enjoyment of our stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Old inn with plenty of character set in a beautiful landscape
5.0 Okay
Pros: Food was good and staff friendly, esp Stephan. We had to change room from 1 to 5 due to a dirty head board, but 5 was nice with a great bathroom and shower. The bedroom was clean, as was the bedding and the bed comfortable The pub is in a very small, and quiet village away from the towns and is in a very pretty valley.
Cons: The stair area has a smell about it, and the carpet is incredibly dirty. The crockery esp cups were dirty, and the dining chairs were badly stained we simply didn't want to sit on them. It was hard to find 2 that we would use. I understand there are new owners. Perhaps they have a broom to sweep the place clean and up the standard considerably
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ideal location and picturesque surroundings were amazing. The food was delicious and dishes were very imaginative. The staff was friendly and helpful. Next time we will stay longer.
Cons: Very audible neighbors were constantly entering and leaving their room late at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All the staff are really friendly and go out their way to make your stay as good as possible. The breakfasts and evening meals are huge, tasty and always piping hot. The rooms are comfortable and clean.
Cons: The chairs are creaky and a little hard to sit on.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were to a very good standard with nice clean en-suite. They were not spacious but then it is an old small building so adds to the quaintness. The breakfast was an excellent range. A starter breakfast and then a main! A full English was an option but I chose to have granola with yogurt and a compote which was really good followed by scrambled eggs and local smoked salmon. I would say that the portions are massive. Service was friendly and efficient. Also had redbush tea!
Cons: Unfortunately ownership was changing hands overnight so they were running down the bar food options for the evening meals. The breakfast was in the bar area so I would say that maybe table clothes over the sticky pub tables would have been a nice touch.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly food was delicious
Cons: The rooms could do with a spring clean and it could do with new stairs carpet when you come out of your room it does smell feisty
9.3 Excellent
Cons: Food stopped serving at 9 which was inconvenient as we arrived at 8:45 so had to hurry in order to eat
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We were warmly welcomed and our room was upgraded when we arrived. Lovely breakfast. We were the only guests at the inn , so the staff went out of their way to ensure we had what we needed. The pub is lively during lunch and dinner.
