Big noise from floor and also upper room
I was very impressed with the location of the hotel. And the grounds were lovely.
Great hotel! (it certainly has its small mistakes, but if you have no feeling for history, please book a modern lifeless (design)hotel)
The excellent service and politeness shown by all staff. We enjoyed our stay there.
Room had no view, while there was an excellent view form the other side of the hotel. Should have been informed of the difference. Hotel was geared up for bus tours not individual guests. Meals like canteen food and waitress was dreadfull.
Just the view over Morecambe Bay Not woth £120.00 per room, blankets not duvets, room OK but cooridors, etc very shabby
Locatio and price Food in the evening, I booked a double rom and was given a single
The location, the view, the staff, the breakfast and the hotel building itself The coffee was rather average
Interesting old building; good modern bathrooms; quality of food; country environment Entrance to hotel is on a blind corner - difficult to see or be seen when entering and exiting road
pleasant hotel in good setting, relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff
good facilities felt the the room was fair too small & being next to the lift & toilets was very noisy. Didn't feel that the size & location of the room justified the price
the freindliness of all the staff, the relaxing atmosphere,it was an all round enjoyable experiance the piano was pleasant at the start but became very tedious with the same type of music being played over again would have been better if music was varied ie; light jazz, folk music.
The meals and restaurant staff were excellent - our congratulations to the chef We didn't like the plastic incontinence sheets on the bed!
Helpfulness and welcome of reception staff
The restaurant service was excellent as was the food. The public rooms were lovely as were the gardens. The staff were friendly and helpful. Had breakfast in our room which arrived hot and was was well cooked. I'm afraid it really let itself down with the room which was tiny and inadequate and right bang next to the lift - and there was a wedding on. Not even room to hang our clothes in the wardrobe. We appeared to have a plastic mattress cover under the sheet which rustled every time you moved and meant that the sheet kept sliding around and rucking up. Made me feel as if I was bedridden! Mentioned the size of the room at the time to reception and even though other rooms were apparently available there was no offer to move us. Shame really because the rest of the experience was so nice. Suggest avoid Room 220!
The breakfast was super. Buffet style so you could have exactly what you wanted. The bacon was delicious. The staff very attentive. Nothing.
Friendly staff; enjoyable swim; top breakfast; picturesque setting
The change from personal waiter service at breakfast to help yourself buffet on the second day
Friendly, helpful service, excellent food.
Relaxing atmosphere, lovely decor and centrality to the village
the stuff were really nice and rooms were good size, and perfectly clean
good value for money accommodation, recently refurbished and clean. friendly and helpful hosts
Very friendly reception. Clean and well presented accommodation. The hotel was quiet so the owner upgraded our room at no extra cost Car parking is not ideal as it is restricted on street parking or pay and display
The rooms were very clean, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were polite and friendly.
A really friendly guesthouse with an excellent landlady and landlord it does not have private parking, not usaully a problem as plenty of street parking
Somerset House was a very clean, good value B&B. The breakfast selection was good (especially the full english) and the owners were very friendly. Our room was comfortable and quiet and it's in a central location in Grange. I can't criticise this B&B, it was exactly as advertised and all that we needed for our stay.
A very relaxed atmosphere, free to come and go as you please.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was welcoming and the breakfast was really nice. There was a lack of parking facilities
The Hotel was very clean and decorated to a good standard. Great shower and comfy bed. Breakfast was good and owner showed a good attential to detail. Very good value. On street parking could be an issue if very busy, but we found a space ok.
Geraldine was a lovely hostess and we were made to feel very welcome. Somerset house was very clean and kept to a very high standard. There were no bad points
Lovely hotel with good views and friendly, efficient staff.
The quirky manor house in the country setting is beautiful, and the customer service and food at this family run hotel was excellent. There was a wide selection at breakfast all freshly cooked to order. We had dinner one night while we were there, which was lovely. There was plenty of info about the area, including printed sheets on local walks. Staff at the hotel couldn't have been better. Lumpy pillows, old fashioned bedding, room on top floor very hot. All minor things.
Lovely friendly and professional staff. Very clean rooms, and thoughtful attention to detail. The manor had an interesting history and was in a lovely setting. Only a minor thing, the hotel was too warm. We have found this quite a common thing in the UK, everything is overheated. You could save so much money if you turned the temperature down a few degrees.
The hotel was situated in a rural area and had beautiful scenery around it. The hotel looked like a home and felt very welcoming. The bathroom was a little small and the bath was very small. The bed was not very comfy, but hey! We were on hoilday so you make the most of. It would have been nice to have had a tv in one of the sitting rooms as the one in the bedroom was hardly watchable, but that could have been down to the heavy rain that went on that night.
Staff and quailty of service were excellent. house was beautiful and food was great. Not a bad point as such, but a shower curtain and a hook to hang the shower head, so that you could have a shower would have been preferable, especially if you are a large person.
Excellent staff Need better quality bed (back problem)
Nice country house hotel without being pretentious
Very friendly. Welcoming. The food was excellent with a different menu nightly. Breakfast freshly cooked to order. Fresh milk provided in the room for tea/coffee.
the partners were very much in evidence and very professional The gardens surrounding house could be improved
Staff were very friendly and helpful Nothing
the friendliness of the staff, the comfort and the quality of the food could not find fault
pleasant staff and a comfortable atmosphere in an ideal location for day trips to most of the areas attractions including the lake steamers. Excellent breakfast. winding passage ways to the room situated over the indoor pool. Bar meals perhaps used some re-heated food?
Reception staff very friendly and helpful. There was everything we required in the room. Good swimming pool. Good centre point for the places we were visiting. The restaurant really lacked atmosphere and the food was tasty but not worth the money. We would have been better off in the bar. No bread, rolls or croissants at breakfast other than the toast they provided from the kitchen.
Lesure facilities. Real Ale
The quality of the food served at this hotel was magnificent. The two nights we stayed here we experienced proberly the best two meals that we had tasted in a long time. The pool facilities were very enjoyable and we had a very relaxing time. For the price that we had paid for the experience of such a room we were very disappointed with the mattress on the bed. It was not comfortable at all. In fact it was very uncomfortable. You could feel the springs in your back and rear end and i Got up in the morning with a sore back. We also felt that for this type of room that a dvd player and free wi-fi in the room wouldn't be too much to ask. Although the staff at reception were very pleasant i felt that a lot more local information could maybe have been relayed, for example we found out from another establishment were we had a lunch at that the zoo was doing free admission, but no one at our hotel had told us this.
Really enjoyed our stay. Not much in walking distance of the hotel.
Not a lot Cleanliness / Staff sat about after shifts finished slagging off hotel and moaning about understaffing and Faulty Towers likeness / No availability of the room I booked / Meals not very good, ran out of steak, toast didn't arrive with breakfast if at all. / Place was dirty.
The room itself was very comfortable but the lighting, intended to be cosy and intimate, was just dingy and it was not easy to read after daylight, despite bedside spotlights. Beyond the room, the place is in urgent need of refurbishment.
Not much. The jacuzzi bath? Nothing else. Poor service. Poor standard of cleanliness. Food poor. No feedback from Manager over a complaint. Appalling value for money
T he gardens and the ground wonderfullthe staff very very helpfull. Concerns about the cleanliness of the pool.
good service catering good walking distants to town good going down not good for senior citizens coming up
we only stayed one night. the bed was uncomfortable but this was outweighed by the excellent food. brilliant breakfast. we would certainly use this hotel again. very good value for money.
Good food, accomidation was to a high standard , value for money would return again. no
Food excellent and its very peaceful
Lovely old building, beautiful setting, very comfortable room, breakfast and evening meals excellent quality. Staff very pleasant. Welcoming lounge with log fire. Nice to be able to access walks direct from hotel. Only negative comment was the lack of view from our room. Next time, we'll contact them beforehand to discuss. Room itself was lovely. Also quite hard to find the hotel - make sure you get clear directions beforehand. No fun trying to find it in the dark and rain. Not a criticism - just advice for future bookings. A very kind local cafe manager showed us the way!
Could find little fault with the hotel. Room was more then adequate and the staff were friendly, food was good and the location was close to the shops, pubs and sea.
Location,All of answer 2.
Fantastic setting, staff & food
The friendly helpful staff and the choice and quality of the food Everything was perfect
Nice Location, Friendly Atmosphere, Good Food.
very nice owners, really thought of everything to make your stay as nice as possible.
Comfortable, welcoming, home from home, nice food/ well presented. None
The owners are very friendly and will go out of there way to help you. They cook a fantastic breakfast every morning. Our room was very clean and tidy, bed very comfortable.
Our bedroom and en-suite bathroom were extremely well-equipped; there were even two glasses of sherry waiting for us on arrival. Jenny, one of the hosts, was very welcoming and there was a huge choice of breakfast options catering for for all appetites. The Derby Arms was a 5 minute walk away and served excellent quality bar snacks. They also have a restaurant, but you nned to book for Saturday evenings.
Rural location, attentive service from owner. Road noise.
Nice room, and very nice bathroom - all well stocked. Divine breakfast with lots of choice. Friendly hosts. We were right next to the main highway, so it was very noisy. The traffic only let up briefly in the wee hours!
The owners were lovely. The room was far superior to a 4 star hotel we had stayed in recently, The thoughtfulness and service were outstanding with lovely touches like a glass of sherry in the room and a wind up torch if you wanted to go to the local pub, only 75 yards away and also very good.. Breakfast was excellent. I took one look at my neighbours and went for the single order which was more than adequate and very tasty.
High quality accomodation particularly bathroom. Excellent breakfast menu. Polite helpful owners No bad points
Great place to stay, friendly hosts. Lovely room and a great breakfast
The ownwer is kindness. Dogs are friendly.
Friendly staff, clean room, good food. Continental breakfast excellent. Good value for money
Bed huge and extremely comfortable which I find to be rare when staying away. Had booked a room which was advertised as having a roll top bath which sounded lovely but on arrival there was no bath, roll top or otherwise (also no door to separate bathroom). Also some confusion as to cost of room as we had got a price of £65 online but on settling the bill was asked for £85 - not sure how this happened. Food interesting - portions way too big and most dishes seemed to consist of the same ingredients which was rather odd.
We felt very welcome, the staff were great, they could not do enough for us, the room was very nice and homely None!!
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The area was attractive and was close to the motorway . It provided acess to the southern lakes 20mins and the northern lakes 40mins.Internet access was good I would stay there again. There were a number of minor and expected problems. The room had a musty smell as did the corridor. The sink in the en suite was cracked but it was perfectly usable and the owner said she was going to address the issue. The main problem was the fact that the Derby Arms is a very popular pub and eating place in the area.Noise levals were high a problem made more difficult by having to have the windows open due to the musty smell and the humidity in the room.
We really liked our room -a big and comfortable bed (enough space for 2adults and a moving around baby:-))) lovely, clean bathroom, decor. Staff were really friendly and helpful and they gave us a warm welcome even though we arrived after 23:00. Breakfast was nicely presented and tasted good. We could hear a big bang every time someone was trying to shut the door between a little hall leading to the toilets and the pub. It was quite annoying especially in the late evening. When we mentioned it to the hotel staff they promised to rectify the problem.
A clean and comfortable room with a huge en suite bathroom. Friendly and pleasant staff and excellent beer.
The only good thing about the derby arms the rooms had been recently refurbished so they were clean and modern the food was quite good and plentyfull The bar and dinning room were seriously in need of refurbishment their was an old musty smell in parts of the hotel
Staff could not be more obliging-Room kept clean and beds made up every-day-Food of the highest order with a varied menu .
All the staff were friendly, very helpful and attentive to our requirements including finding storage inside for 3 bikes. All rooms in the hotel decorated tastefully in very comfortable surroundings. Bedroom and en suite bathroom very good. The hotel provided excellent meals with an exciting menu.
