It is also only steps away from the lift. They have a nice breakfast buffet with the usual European items. Heiligenblut is very close to the alpine road and other sights. If you love hiking this is were you need to be. The hosts at Pension Bergkristall were wonderful and help us decide what to do each day. Thank you!!

Lastly (if you come in winter for skiing but also for summer hiking) the gondola lift up on the mountains is right next to house.
Cons: There was really nothing we did not like!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This little gem was such a wonderful place to stay for a weekend mountain getaway. The room was cozy, comfortable, and clean. We loved the view from the balcony of the church and the valley! Rupert and Monika were so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. My husband and I especially loved practicing our German with Rupert (thanks for his patience!) and hearing about his family and their mountain adventures on the Grossglockner. I would highly recommend staying here.
Cons: Wifi was a little weak while there, but Rupert made his best efforts to fix it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Villa Brandstätter is one of the oldest buildings in Heiligenblut. It is an excellent example of Alpine architecture. The current owner inherited it from his grandfather, and with his wife completely restored and modernized it in 2014. Most rooms have a small balcony with spectacular views of Austria's highest peaks. The breakfast buffet is enormous, and includes eggs laid on the premises only minutes before they are cooked. Viewing the village church from the breakfast room begins the day on a bright note. The owners are the kindest and friendliest people you'll ever meet; they seem to get great joy from helping you enjoy yourself to the max. An example: I asked where I might get a dinner with a fresh brook trout, and within minutes they had not only found a restaurant with fresh trout on the menu, but had made me a reservation.
Cons: The rooms are not tiny, but, typical of Alpine architecture, they are not large either. People who need a really large room may be disappointed.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extremely nice and helpful. We were a group with motorcycles and she offered us to park the bikes in their indoor garage. Other than that she recommended on a restaurant that was a huge success. The place is clean, and the breakfast is very good.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room we stayed in was very spacious and the host is very friendly. Very near to town within walking distance. Breakfast was good with many varieties.
6.8 Good
Pros: We had a 'suite' in the hotel, which is a nice old villa with a good view on the mountains and a nice balcony. Room was big, since it serves as a family room, with a separate toilet. Breakfast buffet was okay.
Cons: We booked a suite for 150 euros, but it wasn't a suite, just a big room. No coffee and tea faciliteis, no mini bar, no bath robes, nothing that made it look like a suite. If I had known this before I wouldn't have booked this room for this price, but a normal room.

Pros: Very good breakfast. Every Thursday you can enjoy in great spare ribs, but you have to book in advance!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Spectacular views from our room, great location, delicious food and a very welcoming host, thanks Claudia.
Cons: Small issue but I would have preferred a bar of soap instead of sachet of liquid soap in the bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, tasty meal.
5.5 Okay
Cons: We stayed in over 200 hotels and travelled before to UK, Italy, Spain, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, USA, Canada, Mexico. We never experienced the lack of soap due to the very high cost of it and the owner's belief that only luxury hotels offer soap at discretion. We had three dinners included but we ate somewhere else twice before coming to the dinner offered at Sonnblick because we did not know what to expect. And with no soap available, we wondered if anybody is washing hands when preparing the dishes. Several things could have been better: the presence and availability of soap; beds could have been replaced, soap again, service, soap again, attitude, soap again. Really? Is soap a high commodity in Austria?

Pros: Lovely hotel with a great location, and its family apartment was spacious and had plenty of room for my family of five. They offer a prix fixe dinner option which we chose, and the meal was fantastic. The ingredients were sourced from within 100 km of the hotel, from the greens in the salad to the trout to the wine. We stayed during the summer and were delighted to learn that we could walk down the road to find a hiking trail up to an impressive waterfall, a perfect outing for the morning. The family that runs the inn clearly love what they do.

5.8 Okay
Pros: The village was great, and the landscape too.
Cons: The staff of the reception was ok, the staff in the restaurant almost didn't speak English, only German, and so the Menu, we had to ask for an English one. If you travel with little children there is not a special menu for them, even if they told us so when we contacted them before. The Menu was too complicated, too posh, and the buffet was available only during the weekend, then it was à-la-carte. The price of the drinks were unbelievable, a mineral water of 0,75 cl. costed us 4,90 Euros. We asked for the possibility to come with a dog, they told us that there would have been no problem but when we arrived they told us that our dog, a Labrador, could stay with us in our room (me, my wife, my 8 years old daughter and my 9 months old son in a room with a labrador? Could you imagine it?). They charged us 15 Euros per day for the dog, for what? There was no specific place for it and we brought the food for it... so, 15 Euros for 5 days, 75 Euros for what? The dog could stay only in our room or in the hall, not in the restaurant. Surely it is not a dog friendly hotel and surely it is not a family hotel, if you travel with children. Our room was a triple room and, I don't know why, they charged us 30 Euros per day, 150 Euro, for the sofa-bed where our 8 years old daughter slept. Wasn't it a triple room? Double bed + a sofa-bed? So why an additional charge for it? Ah, the cradle was free... luckily...

Cons: Limited Wifi
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are friendly and helpful. They made an excellent restaurant recommendation for us and even called to ensure it was open later. The pool area has amazing views.
Cons: The street side rooms can be noisy at night with trucks coming through the village.

Pros: Really great staff, very helpful and friendly - wonderful
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a gorgeous hotel in a lovely part of the Austrian Alps right at the foot of the tallest Austrian mountain, the Grossglockner. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. They organised a guided hiking tour for us, which was a great adventure to the glaciers of the beautiful mountains in the area. The views from the hotel rooms are stunning, and the SPA area is second to none especially if you enjoy the sauna. This is certainly the best view I’ve ever had from a sauna! The food is very authentic local cuisine and the waiters are very nice. I can highly recommend visiting the Großglockner and staying at the Nationalpark Lodge! We already stayed twice now and we will certainly come again!
Cons: The town of Heiligenblut is very small. We did not mind, as we went there for a quite hiking and SPA vacation, and the food at the hotel restaurant for so good and so varied that we didn’t mind eating there Avery day. However, for people who look for evening entertainment, this area might not be ideal.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is amazing, staff very friendly and caring, facilities are good particularly the wellness area
Cons: Nothing really. I would recommend this lodge to friends
7.5 Good
Pros: location
Cons: didn't like where we had to park, main door closed at 8 pm had to used a back entrance at night lounge and restaurant were closed at 8 pm had to eat off site, safe was broken, sore were closed
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Only a couple of minutes away from the Grossglockner pay booth.
Cons: It is slightly pricey but worth it taking its location and the breakfast into consideration.
