Pros: Lovely property. Well maintained and pleasing to the eye. Competition size pool with a smaller pool and a jacuzzi. Water slides for the kids, wonderful restaurant plus a large social area with bar and food service. Continuous social atmosphere for adults and children.
Pros: Gym, Swimming pool, restsurant and snack bar
Cons: No antislipery mat in the shower No hand/face towels in the bathroom No hot water at the yakuzzy
Pros: Good a/c Comfy bed Excellent restaurant Sports club facilities
Cons: Room a bit miserable No view
Pros: Great facility, could conveniently located. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good.
Cons: Extremely loud music from the fitness club attached to the hotel. It was playing all day making it impossible to rest.
Pros: Beautiful property. The pool and the hot tub were nice. Great breakfast
Cons: The bed wasn’t very comfortable
Pros: The Country club is the most amazing amenity
Cons: Even in the standard room it would be nice to have a refrigerator
Pros: Location and security. Good food in dining area. Nice dinner and breakfast. Staff was pleasant
Cons: Loud music booming til at least 11pm and starting up before 7:39 am. tv's on in dining room all the time. A bit cheezy.
Pros: Ok was good, nothing special
Tapirus Lodge is the only natural lodge near the majestic setting of the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Our lodge shares facilities and services with the Rainforest Adventures eco-adventure park, being perfect for retreat packages, birding tours, yoga trips, seminars, and educational and health functions. We offer rooms in the middle of the rainforest, comfortable and with mountain views, Our goal is to provide a comfortable accommodation for nature lovers
Pros: Perfect first stop from the airport on the way to the Caribbean coast! The drive there is dense forest. There was a bit of confusion at the front gate as we didn’t speak Spanish. Basically the guard at the front wanted us to park and he was bringing a shuttle up. It’s a long walk to the main lodge, but there is a guard by the cars the whole time. We arrived with enough time to have supper, and go for the nocturnal walk with Leo at 7pm. There was lots of options for food and it was decent. Leo was a great guide and we saw many bugs and frogs on our walk! The room was comfortable with windows to see the forest. There are short walks to do on your own to see butterflies and hummingbirds. There is a tree top sky tram and zip lining although we didn’t take part. The next morning we got up early for a 6am morning walk which was well worth the early start to the day! We saw birds, Tapirs, a coati and more! Definitely a great place to stay to see the rain forest! It wasn’t too busy when we were there, but our guide said it can get busy during the daytime.
Pros: Awesome experience. Love the seclusion as you drive down to this property. You truly feel like your staying in the rainforest. We had Tapirs show up in the morning and several monkeys!! The cabins are very cute but a little dated. Gaps in screens, bugs get in but hey that's apart of being out in the wild right. It rained during the night and the metal roof was amazing. I can't say enough positive about Leo!! He truly shows and shares his passion for what he does and really knows what great customer service means. We got stuck at the airport in customs for 4 hours so we were late arriving. Leo made sure we had food for dinner even though the kitchen was closed and he made sure we still got our night tour which was incredible as well we saw several different frogs, bats, snakes etc. The breakfast was good the next morning and we really enjoyed watching all the humming birds.
Cons: Nothing negative to say about this property at all.... if I have to mention something I would say the bathrooms could be updated. But that wouldn't be a reason to miss this experience.
Pros: High hospitality.
Cons: All was best.
Pros: The staff, especially Jonathan, were wonderful. Location was paradise.
Pros: Included in the price is a guided evening walk and morning walk which allowed us to see some amazing creatures and trees and plants.
Cons: The noise of lorries going up and down the major highway was dreadful and disturbed us during the night. It is set up to accommodate day visitors for the canopy tours rather than for the overnight guests. We were the only people staying there, and were asked to order dinner and eat early so that the staff could go home. We felt it was very overpriced for fairly basic facilities and the noise from the road and we cut short our stay.
Pros: Excellent staff and willingness to help out. Enjoyed the night walk, looking for animals, frogs, snakes
Pros: It should be mentioned in the description of this hotel that guided walkingtours are included in the price! That's what's make it a really good price and a special experience. Our guide was very concerned and took really good care of me when I felt sick.
Pros: Staff were excellent.
Cons: Breakfast needs more options and to include fresh fruit.
Pros: The excellent guided rainforest walks, the outstanding birding with highly skilled local guides, the staff, the food, and the location.
Cons: The showers. I couldn’t regulate the water temperature. It changed from hot to cold in seconds. The high cost of transportation from San Jose for a solo traveller if there are no others to fill up the vehicle.
Pros: Tapirus Lodge was wonderful! The setting was amazingly beautiful with lots to do, although we were there just to photograph wildlife. The food was high quality and well- prepared. The rooms smelled nice and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Jonathan was our guide and he was fabulous, really going out of his way to help us. I can't wait to go back again with more family and try the tram and the zipline!

Pros: Wonderful jungle feel lodges with dream river swimming hole in 5 minutes walk
Pros: The property is very nice in the forest. The atmosphere is really good
Cons: Internet is not very stable but I guess this the problem in the whole area
Pros: The place is surrounded by green, everywhere. The sound of the river is amazing. Breakfast is good but small. The owners are very friendly and reasonably helpful
Cons: Hot showers are very poor and no amenities whatsoever, besides a small body soap
Pros: A Hidden gem with a fantastic river behind the property. The hostess were very nice and attentive to all of the guests.
Pros: We loved the unique place right in the rainforest. The simple furnishing fitted perfectly. The staff is really nice. Dinner and breakfast were really tasty. We can recommend this place without any doubts.
Cons: It's not really cheap.
Pros: Loved this spot! Food was excellent too!
Pros: The ladies running the place were new to the job but very friendly and helpful. The place had a back to nature feel to it and rain forest type vegetation in the grounds. It was also close to the Rio Blanco which provided a relaxing soundtrack to our stay. We swam in the river, at a waterhole that the managers recommended to us. We had dinner and breakfast, both of which were wholesome and filling
Cons: All good.
Pros: The grounds were beautiful. The main house had a nice seating area where you could sit and read or whatever. The dining area was screened in. The food was good and was served family style, giving an opportunity to visit with other guests. Herbie was very friendly and spoke excellent English. He's Dutch. The bed was large and comfortable.
Cons: We would have liked to have chairs inside the bedroom. There were chairs on the porch but none inside. The bed was quite high which made it difficult to sit to put your shoes on, for example. Also, there were a lot of bugs outside, so sitting inside, which was well screened, would have been preferable at times. A light inside the closet would also be helpful. The room is a bit dark.
Pros: Just perfect in any way. Great property in midst of nature, fantastic hosts - freshly prepared dinner & breakfast were also awesome!
Pros: We stayed there a week prior and we had to go back before catching our flight back to SF . It is the perfect spot to break down the drive between San Jose and the Puerto Viejo area . Wonderful friendly hosts , so relaxing . We are super fans .
Cons: That we had to leave
Pros: Beautiful location in the Costa Rican lush jungle next to a river . Great hosts . Yummy dinner and breakfast . Beautiful grounds !! We wanted to stay longer

Pros: The Quality-Price relantionship

Cons: Could’ve been a bit cleaner.

Pros: Fine for a short stay
Pros: Staff very nice
Cons: Jacuzzi wasnt good enough and bathroom inside the bed with no roof
Pros: Very clean, huge room. Nice white linens, good shower, fridge in room, good strong fan. On site restaurant was ok if you don't have a car to eat anywhere else
Cons: Location is 1.6km out of town and from the bus terminal. Ok if you're driving but you will need a taxi if walking as no pavements and off a busy road. A/c didn't work Receptionist had no onward bus knowledge
Pros: We spend one night in this motel during our trip through costa Rica and were pleasently surprised, especially by the kindnes and great help of the Staff.
Located in Guacimo, Hotel Los Ríos is within a 15-minute drive of Centro America Autonomous University and Guapiles Central Park. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The rooms and grounds were all upgraded to modern design. Very different from all other hotels nearby.
Cons: Weather didn’t cooperate so I could not swim in the pool
Pros: The kind of Hotel, different and elegant
Pros: Nice apartment - good location for Earth University
Cons: Breakfast not ready at 6.30 -waiting until 7 then had to leave for meetings - so paid for nothing - next day breakfast not ready at 7 either / lots of dirty plates and floor dirty from night before - then my partner went for breakfast at 9.30 - but it had finished / so not good value for money when I was told breakfast started at 6.30! Room service wanted to enter at 6 pm!! We had worked all day and just got back
Pros: The restaurant is excelent
Pros: Good location for mid-way one night stay. Great dinner (chicken). Clean.
Cons: Old hotel complex with unreal prices, for what we got. The worst we stayed. Really bad tasteless breakfast, with no options. Hotel is trying to apply No Show (even if there was only couple of guests at that time), really bad administration. Balcony locked up behind bars. Apartment dark and uncozy. No smoking area in this huge complex. Terrible usd/colon exchange rate if you want to pay in local currency.
Pros: They were missing the lightbulb between the beds, and I like to read before sleeping. The receptionist said she didn't have any
Pros: The rooms were Excellent, clean and spacious. The breakfast was a real bonus being so good. Though we never used the pool, as we arrived to late, it looked very inviting.
Pros: You basically have the entire facility to yourself. There are hardly any staff or guests.
Cons: The restaurant at the hotel closes down very early. On Sunday night I think it closed down at 6. When that happens, there’s no way to get food. You can’t even get ice.

Pros: We only stayed one night to make it easier for an early bus. The room was very clean and it is not far from the bus station. There are no coffee making facilities in the room but coffee is available near reception.
Cons: The fan is a bit noisey
Pros: The owner is very sweet and helpful. Room was clean and has a good size.
Pros: Good location friendly staff
Cons: The TAXY service to the village should be more often
Pros: Great location when you are on the road to Tortuguero. Room is basic, but everything you need is available in the room. I recommend to stay 1 night, nearby are not many things to do.
Cons: Most of the personnel didn't speak English, also booking tours at the office was not possible because no English speaking person was available.
Pros: Reception was excellent and very accommodating. Although there was an issue that nobody could have prepared for, they were extremely efficient in remedying it. Would recommend with enthusiasm.
Pros: Perfect location to take first boat to tortuguero. We left part of our luggage there for a day , safe and free
Pros: This place was exactly what we needed. We came in late from SJO and wanted somewhere safe and clean to crash so that we could catch the bus to La Pavona the next morning & then catch a boat to Tortuguero. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room had nice warm water, perfect for showering. It was clean and the grounds are a lovely reminder of the lush green CR landscape we had entered the night before. I am traveling with my 5 year old daughter, fyi to anyone with smaller children, this worked well.
Cons: The only downside is that this hotel is an hour bus ride from La Pavona. 40 minute taxi ride. Ideally we'd have liked to have been a little closer to the boat station. Of course this is my fault, not theirs, for not checking distances more closely before completing the booking.
Pros: on the road to tortuguero. easy to find .
Pros: They allowed us to leave our rental car on their parking meanwhile we did the trip to tortuguero (2 nights) without any extra cost, so nice. They were also very helpful to tell us how to pick the bus and boat to tortuguero.

Hiking is among the activities that guests can enjoy near Brisas del Rio. The nearest airport is Tobías Bolaños International Airport, 77 km from the accommodation.
Pros: Excellent customer service and facilities. The restaurant was very good as well as the breakfast in the morning. Beautiful property by the river with jungle sounds.
Pros: They are also a restaurant.
Cons: To give you a bit of context, I am writing this at the end of my trip in Costa Rica to be able to compare fairly. And this is by far the worst adress we've been to. And the most expensive!! 1) It's very very dirty : I don't know when is the last time the dust and spider webs have been cleaned. Not even the scale on the tap. 2) There is a big gap between the floor and the wall so any insect can come and say hi. 3) The towels provided had holes and stains. 4) The food at the restaurant is really not exceptional.

Pros: In a lively town, on the way to Tortuguero.
Cons: On arrival they did not know about our reservation (it happened to me for the first time with Booking.com). They spoke only Spanish (fortunately we had the translator). Finally they gave us a smaller room at a lower price. Booking.com this records as "Unused Reservation" ... why if it was not our fault?
