I stayed there as a part of a very large delegation. I could see that some of the rooms were very small, but ours were all spacious. Great views all around, but Fuji is only visible from one side of the hotel. The other side has the drawback of the noise from the train station. While it wasn't terrible, it was definately noticable. It sounded like water flushing every now and again. The only other minor drawback was no complimentary coffee or tea in the rooms. 365 Yen per cup of coffee every morning.... I paid it though. Beds were a touch on the stiff side too, not bad for a Japanese style of bed though. The proximity to the city center and connecting underpass was a definite bonus. Over all it was a very pleasant stay.
I've tried to sleep in many a bed in different hotels in my travels but the bed in this hotel was the first where I actually slept and felt rested in the morning. The hotel service was unobtrusive and courteous. I felt comfortable and able to relax. The free tea service was especially welcome after a tiring day (many hotels i've visited provide free drinks for the first night only). Having said that, a bottle of free mineral water would have been most appreciated. As it was, I had to take a bottle from the fridge and incur the extra expense. It wasn't much but would have been welcome nevertheless.
This hotel is one of the best in the world from my experience. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Courteous, friendly, and the physical plant, location, and ambience are all excellent. I recommend it highly. My only concern is that you may want to throughly inspect your bedding before sacking out. Might benefit from a change. Despite that one little drawback, I plan to stay at this hotel at least most of the time when I'm there. The views are fantastic, and the food 5***** along with the hotel.
