Good clean room
We enjoyed our blu spa tower room experience! The rooms were very nice. We spent the day at the dunes and loved to be able to rest after a long beach day in a nice clean fun place. Everyone we encountered at the resort was friendly and helpful! I wish the casino was smoke-free!! It's a huge turnoff when you walk into the resort to check in and get a whiff of the smoking going on. I felt like I reeked of cigarettes even after we left. The pool is open until midnight, but we were kicked out bc we had our child with us. After a long day of travel, sometimes a family needs to unwind at the pool at any hour. That was a huge bummer. We wouldn't have chosen to stay here had we known the pool child restrictions.
Disgusting how smokey everything was. The ventilation system needs to be updated everywhere. It took a full day to feel better after breathing in smoke air. At least with other casinos I have been to that allow smoking you barely smelled the smoke. .. they had air pumping into the casino/hotel room.
Shower was wonderful The room was too hot even with no heat. We had to turn on the air conditioner. Too many kids at the pool at the casino resort. There should be no kids allowed to swim after 8 pm, so adults can be able to swim in peace and quiet.
room was clean, well kept up and quiet. You did not hear the other rooms. bathroom was great looking, but water from shower was a mere trickle.
Everthing was great. ,price ,room ,view...overall very pleased Lots of housekeeping noise in morning, vending machines did not work on several floors. All on ' blue tower'. Motorized wheel chair would have kept hands free too play more for me and my partner. ..
My wife's birthday, celebrated at the casino, she loves slots and had a good run on one machine. shes happy, I'm happy. AC unit operation was a bit strange, borderline warm too cold.
The room was very nice and was clean. The staff was very friendly. Nice and close to the outlet mall for shopping. Not sure the thermostat was working as it felt like it was blowing cool air when we had the heat on.
Everything Checking out...didn't wanna leave
Smoke free rooms Most places I visit are smoke free, so I forgot my dislike for stale tobacco.
Hotel room in blue chip tower was constantly chilly due to older window and heating unit bringing in cold outside air. Overall ambience of whole casino- hotel was good tho.
Clean, fresh and great staff. Breakfast a little weak. Bath tub missing stopper.
Everything with one exception. We would think much more highly of Microtel if some more protein (for example eggs in some form) had been available for breakfast. We are surprised that mainly fast carbohydrates were served, although they were very nice. A day that begins with a blood sugar spike from fast carbs is never a good day for us.
Overall value was good but keep in mind it's a discount hotel. Contemporary design was nice, and room was larger than expected being named "Micro"tel. Staff was pleasant upon every encounter. The bed sheets had stains - even right open in plain view on the top sheet. We were pretty put off by that, but even worse were the hairs presumably from prior guests strung through the facecloths. I found them just after soaping a cloth and about to wash my face. Downright gross . Both of these are a real factor in deciding whether to return or not...will have to check out tolerance next time we're booking somewhere.
Comfortable bed, but not to Hilton standards. Big shower for the room size. Decent location, but a little far from the beach. Room was TINY. A/C smelled moldy, but it went away after a few minutes. Just a few blocks from a ghetto part of town. Guy at the gas station next door was very creepy and kept hitting on me.
Location, price, comfortable bed Knowing the name is Micro.... The room was too small for our comfort. Front desk staff rather unfriendly.
It was very clean and close to some park sites. The hotel staff was very friendly as well. I would like more t.v. channel options or an option to rent a movie.
Easy to find. Clean. Good free breakfast. Shower curtain drove me crazy! Constantly moved in from both ends toward the center which makes it extremely difficult to take a shower.
This is a pretty typical Country Inn and Suites. However, my room had a constant rumbling noise coming from the other side of the wall. I thought about asking to move but didn't for personal reasons. When I checked out and the desk clerk asked how things were, I told her about the noise. It was clear, though, that she would do nothing about it and really didn't care.\n\nThe complimentary breakfast was also typical. However, I got a little sick after eating the brakfast sausages.\n\n
The hotel is located on the south side of Michigan city, near the interstate. It is sort of difficult to find since it is not located on the main road, rather it is located behind another hotel, restaurant (Culvers) and a gas station.\n\nThe inside of the hotel was acceptable, the rooms where clean and the hotel seemed well maintained. However, the location of the hotel was _BAD_. At several times during our stay, there where cars that where 'muffler challenged' -- Probably a pizza delivery or something like that. \n\nThe client?le present where loud -- several times people where yelling down the halls. Maybe it is just too close to the interstate, maybe its a poor city. I don't care, I'll find some place else next time if at all possible.\n\nLastly, it suffered the same problem almost every hotel does --- those AWFUL air conditioner/heater units. Why can't they have a setting where the fan runs constantly!!!\n\n
Nice clean hotel, excellent peanut butter cookies in the evening
OUR OVERALL STAY WAS VERY NICE. THE ONLY PROBLEM\nWAS THE HEATER,KEPT GOING ON AND OFF, KEPT WAKING \nUP THE WIFE. WE ENJOYED OUR SELVES AND WE WILL STAY AT ANOTHER COUNTRY SUITES INN AGAIN.\n
Liked what we saw in the pictures and we were never disappointed.\nThe reception and rooms were immaculate and whilst it was really only a place to rest our heads, the kids enjoyed the pool facilities and the complimentary breakfasts were of a high standard.\nDefinitely, stay here again.\nI would also recommend the Country Inn and Suites in Holland, Michigan which was of a similar high standard.
Staff was friendly. Price was comparable. Room was clean and welcoming.
When we first enter the room it was full of smell of chemical like fresh paint or clorox. But it went away few hours later.
Stayed one night with 2 younger daughters. Easily acessible to outlet mall and communter train bound to Chicago. Pool was smaller than other hotels we've stayed in before, but it was clean and towels readily available. Staff friendly, and free breakfast was adequate as well.
Two words: NOT WIRED. The property description lists hi-speed internet, but the hotel has nothing - nada, zero, zip, zilch. Not even a creaky old PC tucked into a corner of the lobby. Given that, I felt that the facility was overpriced. It's been several years since I've stumbled across a property in this price range that doesn't provide this basic 21st century amenity. Plus - and this was just a single incident, I know, so maybe it wouldn't happen to you - there was a slight plumbing problem in the room when we checked in. When I called for help, the folks at the front desk brought me a plunger. I've never encountered that before. When I asked him if he expected me to use it, he smiled and nodded. Since we were on a schedule and had to leave, I did perform the unclogging myself, but I was surprised and not at all pleased. So, if you have no reason to need computing services, don't mind doing your own plumbing if it's needed, and don't mind paying a pretty good buck for the privilege, then don't hesitate to stay here. The place was certainly adequately clean, the decor was acceptable, and it was reasonably quiet. As for me, I'll never go back.
We arrived late in the evening and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and well stocked towels and extra bedding. Breakfast the next morning was ample and delicious. We'll definately stay here again.
The Country Inn was a great choice for my 2-day business trip to Michigan City. The room was quiet, clean, comfortable. Staff was friendly. I didn't eat the continental breakfast so cannot comment.
Great staff upgraded clean rates should be higher leaving money on the table. Definitely stay again
The price was reasonable and the girl at the front desk was friendly. The sheets had stains (though they looked clean) - neither bed seemed ok to sleep in. Area did not feel the safest.
Desk clerk did her best to make things right and kept an upbeat attitude Room we were given REEKED of cat spray (urine). We were able to be moved to another room thankfully but it smelled like smoke, the bathroom was dirty and the toilet leaked. Not a very nice area, sketchy people hanging out in the parking lot, some man randomly pounded on my door late
Rooms were clean and for $50 per night it's a good value.
Never stayed at a hotel with such friendly, easy to please staff. nothing
Room was under $50. Needed a place to crash. Staff was not super friendly. Had a room issue and it was like pulling teeth to get it fixed.
Close to the highway and fast food resturants. Rooms were small but okay. Wifi connection was a hit and miss. Does have a refrigerator and microwave. Breakfast area was small but had a few choices. No pool. Midshift staff was very pleasant, but checking out staff which I assume was the General Manager was cold and stand offish. Quiet stay. Not terrible but it would be one of my last options.
Nothing Rooms smelled like smoke and was not thoroughly cleaned at all dust everywhere and smelled bad. Water backed up in the tub due to water issues.
The bed was comfy. The room was fairly clean. The bathroom was somewhat updated. It had a flat screen TV. It had decent furnishings. The price was right. It had a mini fridfge that worked well. The room needed some repairs. There were water spots all over the cieling from previous leaks. The drywall had separated from the wall in the corner of the exterior wall. The flat screen TV I mentioned...wouldn't turn on. The door wall barely locked. The lawn was LITTERED with cigarette butts. The neighbor had a huge dog that was barking quite a bit. The pillows were very flat.
Not much Old and very unmaintained. Guest laundry sewer backed up. Dryer didn't work, place eas falling apart.
I would stay here again. Hallway carpet needs to be cleaned. Pool area needs some more AC and more open windows, to allow fresh air in.
Dirty, cramped stuffy rooms, a very disappointing experience that I won't repeat
stayed here on short notice due to good price. Decent hotel,; clean, staff friendly and breakfast was goodd. Negatives include some things didn't work such as pool and the parking lot was in poor condition and outside lights inadequatw6 See above
They said they were just "holding" my card for incidentals. They charged my card!! We had already prepaid our room through a third party!

Quite, good price. No.
No one else was staying at this dump Dirty, scary, old, unkempt, bad area

It was a great price and proved the essentials in a clean environment. I would stay here again. The mini fridge was set on freezer mode and froze my breakfast. Make sure you to check it's at 3 or 4.
Non working shower. Fridge and bedside light were not plugged in and the furniture was to heavy to move to get to the outlet.
Older motel in convenient location. The room itself was clean. They were a bit skimpy with their towels however when we asked for more we were given a couple more. Thin walls, we could hear the gentlemen next door coughing like he was in the same room with us.
Location was okay. The room has a need to be transformed from 1970 to 2015 decor and bathroom.

The clerk & some other employees kept harassing my room and asking us if we are smoking weed when a few 8 guys were in law enforcement. The room smelled horrible and the staff was very disrespectful.
Nothing Yes, our car got broken into and when we reported it to the owner he said it was a known trouble maker. Wouldn't give us our money back and were only there 30 mins.
service was good location excellant close to all kinds of restaurants. definitally just a sleeep and go motel.
No bed bugs, somehow. My car didn't get broken into, somehow. I had to wait for them to be ready to check me in, so check in was 2 hours late. They messed up my reservation, right days but wrong month. There were no sheets on my bed when I got to my room. The shower hadn't been cleaned for at least 6 months before I got there. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed in at least a month. I found a knife hiding above one of the lights. I mentioned the knife to the assistant manager who started telling me it was probably left behind by one of the prostitutes who use that hotel. There are at least 4 that are friendly enough with the staff, so that the staff knows what they do. Some of the staff lives in the hotel, including the manager who was clearly very high during check out.
Dark location, felt very unsafe. Suspicious people hanging off balcony smoking and hanging around main office. Interior smells of smoke, dirty. Immediately felt it was unsafe to leave car in the parking lot, ran inside and immediately bolted door lock. Two steps inside the door and saw dried food on wall, smelled of smoke, dingy. Didn't take 1 minute to decide it was worth spending money to stay at a different hotel! Wouldn't even sit on furniture. Staff at front desk kind enough to give us 100% refund for the night.
Never changed the bed sheets in 7 days. Gave me two (2) bars of new soap. One extra towel in 7 days. Room was no smoking put STUNK like cigarettes or cigars, I told then not to charge me for that. Another person walked in as I was walking out and they told them the same thing. No refrigerator in room, they had one before, could see the marks on carpet. Other person asked for room with one, but told me it did not work. carpet super dirty, if you walk on it and then go to shower black will come off you feet. Carpet never cleaned. Had to reset my key card 3 times. Ice in from a pot dispenser. Lady at desk had, I don't care if you don't like it attitude, always an excuse why things were not right. Kids running behind desk by here, tattoos all over her body. Seems like a local motel for local singles to shake up in. Many people just hanging around outside and in cars.
Room wasn't ready, after giving them two hours, it still didn't seem like it had been cleaned. Dirty bathroom, dirty floors and walls, cigarette stains everywhere. Also no remote control for TV. NEVER AGAIN.
I was in a bind and had to stay at this motel. The only good thing was location in regards to the area I was visiting. Where do I start. Terrible matress, small paper thin towels, small bar of soap(no shampoo), moldy shower stall, no extra security devises on door, rusty sink, furniture that looks like my granfather threw out 30 years ago. Horrible. Left the room very early in the morning just to get out.
We decided to take a last minute trip to the dunes, and Golden Sands had rooms available last minute for under $100. It was pretty clean, had a nice retro feel, and the staff was very friendly (and accommodating of us showing up after their 10PM check in time). It could use some updating, the old tube TV sporadically got 2-3 stations, the towels were threadbare, but for the price it was decent.
Skip the chain hotels clustered on I-94 and head a few miles south of the action to find this gem, which is located in the beautiful countryside south of Michigan City. I had an hour long conversation with the manager on marine molecular biology (I am a marine biologist interested in molecular biology) as he was a science writer. Super interesting guy (Don)! The other thing I liked was that, although I booked through Kayak, the hotel directly emailed me to confirm. I always wonder if my reservation will be botched, so I like the extra effort of the hotel reconfirming with me. The room could have been cleaner, and there was no shampoo (albeit there was body wash). Although I like this place and recommend it, I feel it should be more of a $55-60/night kind of place, not the $71 that I paid. Still, I would stay there again, as the "back yard" is gorgeous!
I loved the price of the room and the location. You are away from a lot of the traffic of town. The linens were clean and there were a couple bottles of water for free in the mini fridge. Beds are comfy and not very loud. The man in the office was very kind and talkative. Great staff/owners. The highway noise can be loud if you have a room near the front. The room smelled like dogs/animals, but this was expected since it is a pet friendly motel. The space under the nightstand was pretty dirty.
The rooms were clean and aesthetic. Nothing fancy but everything you need including a fridge and microwave. The price was so low I was expecting something far less modern. They could use an upgrade on mattresses, but for the price, it was good enough.
It was a cute little hotel. I'd come back cause there wasn't anything so bad that we wouldn't go back. Also was a straight shot into town maybe a 10 or 15 min drive Room was very small, and smelled like cigarette smoke even though you are not allowed to smoke in the rooms. Wifi was horrid only one bar of WiFi and it constantly was kicking you off makes it hard to plan your day if you Ned wifi
The manager was very pleasant and accomodating. The motel is sandwiched between two freeways, but its immediate vicinity is very green, with large trees, a lawn with fireflies at night, and so on. The room was very small, but a little like a ship, in that furniture had been fitted in very ingeniously to the available space. There is not a lot of room to unpack if you are staying for more than a night or two. The bathroom was very clean, and had large soft orange towels, which was pleasant and fun after the usual run of white, wornout towels you expect in a room that costs $56 a night. The floor of our room was part ceramic tile (entry and bathroom) and part wood, so much easier to keep clean than most horrible motel carpets. The window opened. The lighting was adequate. There was plenty of hot water, but the water was sulphurous. The motel supplied some bottled water for drinking. The fridge actually had a freezer, so we could refreeze our blue ice and didn't have to go buy regular ice. There was also a microwave. The bed creaked, but was very comfortable. Shower drain was very, very slow, so you ended up standing ankle-deep in water by the end. Screen on door to the outside was torn, which we stupidly didn't notice, so we let in a lot of mosquitoes while enjoying the cool night air. For the price, I wouldn't say I didn't like this, but there is no coffeemaker, no mugs or glasses or dishes, though there is a microwave. You'll want to bring your own mugs or bowls and utensils if you want to use the microwave.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I only stayed one night but it was a place I would have been comfortable at for several days if needed.
