10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness, evening snack, breakfast, and hosts. All were really excellent. Enjoyed the morning getting to know the hosts and the other guests. Very close to Big Cottonwood Canyon where we enjoyed a morning hike before heading home.
Cons: Bathroom in Catherine room was a little cramped, but fine for two people, just not the luxuriously large bathroom we're used to at other B&B's.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was AMAZING!! it was wonderful and the staff was so friendly. They were like family. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room.. the bed.. the staff .. breakfast was yummy. It is a perfect place to stay for any reason. Nice to stay with people that care
Cons: Nothing everything was perfect. Very friendly very warm and inviting home. Feels like a home away from home.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Doug and Karen were outstanding hosts in every respect. The log house has a lot of history and it was very interesting. I highly recommend Engen Hus to anyone wishing to stay in the Salt Lake City area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Engen Hus made us feel like royalty! Not only is the property beautiful, there is a hot tub, coffee available at any time (other choices too), and we had open access to the kitchen. There were even bathrobes and slippers hanging in our closet! Every room has an en suite bathroom too! We haven’t had breakfast yet, but I heard it’s amazing, and I believe it, based on everything else! We were planning to hang out in Salt Lake for the evening, but instead came back here after dinner and played scrabble (yes, they have a game closet!) and went in the hot tub. Even the restaurant they suggested was great! A must stay if you are traveling through Salt Lake City!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, hospitality, comfort, amenities: Doug and Karen were delightful and very hospitable. They took great efforts to welcome us into their beautiful home with friendliness, homemade cookies, a variety of drinks available, instructions on use of hot tube, video collection, and temperature controls. Bed was comfortable as was the private full bath. Lovely balcony with swing bench. They prepared a delicious European style breakfast. They took interest in us as if we are friends, which I feel a kindred spirit in them both. Engen Hus has a charming story in its history and present story. You will be blessed there for sure! I hope to return to visit our new friends someday.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The overall look of the property and design of the space is absolutely beautiful. The owners put a lot of time and money into the decor and design of the overall bed and breakfast. There is also quite a history associated with the property so that was fun to learn about at breakfast
Cons: You can clearly hear everything happening in all areas of the house, especially at night. It made for a self-conscious environment which ruined our plans and made for an expensive mistake. The normal privacy that a young couple would be expecting for a night away is not something that this facility can offer. The hosts are very nice; however, they are also very inquisitive and we found ourselves answering a lot of questions when we should have been able to just sit and relax. They also didn’t seem to understand how the reservation was booked through one of the multiple platforms that it was listed on; It wasn’t prepaid. That led to awkward comments about how room hadn’t paid...A better approach/system could have been used
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find, lovely inside and out, amazing food, wonderful hosts. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and hope to return!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: My friends and I stayed here to do some hikes in the Big Cottonwood area. We loved the included breakfast in the morning like the omelets, fruit, sausage, muffins, waffles etc. The breakfast was a little different each morning too. We also enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi after our hikes. All the people at the front desk were very friendly. I loved that they have complimentary water in the front that we would use to fill up our hydro flasks. The place was very clean. We had a great stay here .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The pool and hot tub facilities were amazing. It is conveniently located, close to a Target and WalMart. Short drive from the airport and not a lot of traffic.
Cons: The pillows, maybe having the option to have a firm one would be great.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: comfortable
Cons: The fire alarm went off at 2:30 in the morning

Pros: Very friendly welcome and help with information about the neighborhood. Very moder rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything . From checking in , staying in, facilities, breakfast, housekeeping, pool, and checking out. Everyone working here is pleasant, courteous, went out of their way to accommodate requests. LOVE love the cleanliness in the entire hotel. Bathrooms are uniquely designed . Microwave and refrigerator in the room are a huge plus. The reception team is OUTSTANDING!!!!
Cons: A bathrobe and a lock on the bathroom door would be nice:)) just a suggestion.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There were plenty of breakfast choices from 6 to 10 in the morning: omelets, make your own waffle, oatmeal, scones and muffins, and exceptional fresh fruit. There's a safe and convenient laundry for guests. The pool and hot tub are terrific, and outside beyond the pool there's a fire pit and lounge set where we'd go to soak up the sun after the pool. The staff really set this place apart. Welcoming, friendly, and efficient people made our stay exceptional.
Cons: The toilet in our room kept running. I reported it and said I didn't want a plumber coming up and I didn't mind jiggling the handle. The clerk said she'd report it to maintenance and later made a point of telling me she had, and they'd honor my request not to be interrupted but would definitely take care of it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good, This is the second time we stayed here. It is close to our family that we visit there. We are only there to sleep and eat breakfast, after that we are gone the entire day.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: A hotel like many, many more hotels. Pretty dull hotel for business travellers. Could do well with a charming USP.

Cons: All fine.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Front desk staff were prompt, friendly and helpful. The standard Holiday Inn Express breakfast is pretty good, with several hot items, a pancake machine and Cinnabuns! Room was quiet, good size with a sofa, good mattress, decent LED TV and wifi work station.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was kind of helpful. Great customer service. The room was clean.
Cons: Staff was accommodating and wonderful to work with, my only suggestion might be no-grain and nondairy options for breakfast. Seriously that’s all I can think of.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great, the staff are wonderful, rooms are very clean. We would stay there again.
Cons: Everything was fine except the trash bins outside were overflowing and were never emptied during our entire 6 day stay. Seems like just an oversight, as everything else was immaculate. The pool chemicals were out of balance -- the fumes were strong enough to make our eyes sting.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent, super close to BigCottonwood Canyon. The breakfast exceeded my expectations! Great service and the food was delicious. There were many options. I loved the layout of our king bed room. Staff was very helpful. Will be staying here again.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: This place looks nice on the outside.
Cons: Staff was beyond horrible. Room looked like it was quickly cleaned. Bed was super uncomfortable my body hurt waking up. Has a weird smell in the hallways.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We really like this hotel. For us it was perfectly located (with many very nice restaurants within walking distance). Very nice and clean room. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice pool. Beautifully decorated lobby area.
Cons: The pool area was a little dirty when we arrived on the first afternoon (due to some poorly educated guests who had spilled a considerable amount of food under one of the tables and had not bothered to clean after themselves). Despite notifying one staff member, the area was only cleaned in late morning the day after.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Surprisingly excellent room for any price, let alone the price I paid. Great access point to both Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons. Gives lots of skiing, riding, climbing and other options for recreation.
Cons: Nope. Great experience.
5.0 Okay
Pros: That they were close to where I lived and they had food options.
Cons: Booked a room because there was construction near my house the previous night and had no sleep. Hyatt usually has clean quiet rooms, but not this one. My room sounded like construction was going on, not sure if it was the AC, ice machine or what. NOISEY!
7.9 Good
Pros: Room was very comfortable and clean. Bed was very nice.
Cons: Getting out of the location was forced to go one way, making our commute much longer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: THE BREAKFAST BAR WAS EXCELLENT
Cons: THE BED WAS TOO SOFT AND UNCOMFORTABLE
5.0 Okay
Pros: terrible water pressure - shower trickled and toilet would barely flush. most of the staff were very good, except the woman working on saturday night was very rude. Location was good and bed was comfy, but the terrible water pressure and the saturday night staff ruined my stay and will make me question staying at a hyatt over other reputable hotels in the future (the woman working the front desk on friday night was excellent though).
Cons: see above; also, the woman on saturday night was extremely aggressive about kicking people out of the pool area at 10pm - it was bizarre. Also, foolishly I paid extra for a "high floor", and they put me on the 2nd floor of 4?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Great location; great scenery, view; wonderful staff; amazing breakfast; very accommodating housecleaning service; ample parking lot; very comfortable bed.
Cons: No microwave.

Pros: Location was perfect
Cons: The bed mattresses stunk and creaked. When I sat on the bed I thought I was on a wet sponge.
7.1 Good
Cons: Price. We booked for a room with a king and got 2 queen beds instead. We were told because we booked with a 3rd party the room with the king was not guaranteed. No price adjustment was made. Staying 4 nights cost us when we could have booked for Queens at a better rate.

Cons: Shower height is low for tall people
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice size room and good wifi.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, good staff, great breakfast/reception
Cons: One day there were a bunch of screaming kids in the pool
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The lobby looks great when you walk in. I enjoyed the complimentary light dinner and hot breakfast. Beds were comfortable. Clean rooms.
Cons: I was not greeted properly at check-in. It almost felt dismissive. No smile. Nothing inviting about the experience. 2 reps were servicing other customers and I waited patiently to be next in line. One of the reps finished with his customer, ignored me and started doing something else. Then turned to his partner, said something and left the desk. The other rep was very "engaged" with his customer. I waited patiently as they wrapped things up. The customer departed and I stood there for about a minute, before I was acknowledged and asked to the desk. If Im not mistaken, the individual at the desk looked at me and said "Yes?". No, "How are you doing?" or "How may I help you?" Further, after receiving my room key, I was not orientated to the property. It resulted in walking the entire length of the 3rd floor with my luggage. My biggest issue was not the hotel or the aminities but the staff. I should not have felt that type of vibe, especially when checking in.

The hot tub was not working properly...my husband did get out to go talk to the front desk but they said there wasn't anything they could do. It was actually pumping in cold water at the seat of the hot tub!

Cons: Need more tables for breakfast
8.0 Excellent
Pros: IT WAS CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE HOTEL
Cons: STARTING TO SHOW IT AGE.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: Was helping my daughter for college and brouggt our puppy with us. My cell battery was low and I was unable to use. When we got ro the hotel, I had a note ob my door that they were going to call animal control for abandoning our dog. (This of course is not true.) My puppy becomes anxiouse when she hears other dogs howling. The room was not a mess and as we checked out we apologized profusely. Then I receive my credit card statement and there was an additional charge for $200 that was not advised. This hotel is not pet friendly and they will not work with you. In addition, they did not want to work with booking.com..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is always very friendly
Cons: Didn't know there were visiting hours. Family could not visit after a certain time.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was great
Cons: The double bed technically cant fit 5 person in 1 room
6.3 Good
Pros: We liked the price and location
Cons: The pictures advertised are the furthest away from what we actually got. The pool is pictured to be a large luxury pool but we got a small pool, grungy sky lights and a garden hose filling the pool up. It looked like someone had puked all over the carpet. The beds we basically a twin and hard as a rock. The breakfast was a joke! It was small, the food was stale and the food was kept in a dirty storage closet next to our table. For a hotel that has a 100+ guests at a time a breakfast room the size of a hotel room and 6 tables isn't going to cut it.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The pool was nice and rooms were good sized
Cons: Beds were uncomfortable, double beds for 3 adults and 2 kids. No cot or roll away beds. Staff was rude when asked about either. When made reservation they said we would all fit comfortably and that was NOT the case.

Pros: The kitchen
Cons: The room stunk when I checked into it
7.1 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable. Place was clean.
Cons: The shower curtain rod was falling off the wall on both ends curtain moved to the center is the rod. Bathroom mirror frame was falling apart. Dangerous if it falls off the wall. AC was off when I got to the room. Took until 9:00 to cool down. The room door appears to have been kicked in. Looks like it was glued back together but I questioned the security of the door. Moved a table in front of the door at night.
7.0 Good
Pros: I was looking for some inexpensive lodging. (For me, a hotel is for taking a shower and getting some sleep.) I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the room. The lady at the front desk was very personable.
Cons: The "grab and go breakfast" was pretty minimal. (But it wasn't represented as being more than it was.) Some fresh fruit - apple, banana, orange - and maybe milk (only coffee was offered) would've been nice.
7.5 Good
Pros: Foe the price, I was shocked that the rooms were only cleaned weekly. The selection for breakfast slim. We took our dirty towels to desk to get new ones and had to bag up our trash, walk all the way around the building to take our trash out! No ice machines in building! Not the way I wanted to spend my vacation! Way overpriced for what you get! Staff was wonderful!
Cons: See above
6.0 Good
Pros: I am not a fan of The hotel chain extended stays, however this one was Way above par - well run, clean, Nice landscaping and a good location.

4.6 Okay
Pros: Location, price
Cons: Dirty room. Looks like someone had a dog living there long term and was running on the walls, walls were dirty, floor was not clean, sheets and pillows didn’t seem fresh, Hole kicked in the bathroom door. Stuff like that.
7.1 Good
Pros: The room was gorgeous. Loved the kitchen. Great closet. The bathroom was very nice. Nice staff and pet friendly.

5.4 Okay
Pros: I like how close it is to restaurants and stores
Cons: The beds are ridiculously uncomfortable
7.5 Good
Pros: For the price we paid it was a fair deal. The grounds were clean and well groomed. The rooms were clean, but a bit run down, such as a broken toilet paper roll holder, and the room was not listed as a smoking room yet reeked of stale smoke and there were old burn marks on the floor, chair, and comforter.
Cons: Cigarette smell, burn marks, and broken fixtures.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The price.
Cons: No response to preliminary-to-travel email inquiring of any pre-arrival needs - wherein I stated I'd be checking in at 12 noon. Upon arrival staff did not acknowledge receipt of email, Room was not ready as it was still occupied by preceding client, additional rooms were not available as they had not been cleaned yet by cleaning staff, and that staff was late in arriving for work. I was told to leave - I could not be accommodated until 4pm. Receptionist staff kept pointing to a a small countertop sign indicating check-in at 4pm, but could not understand that when booking travel and hotel accommodations from California - I could only see what was advertised on Trip Advisor - which stated check-in as early as 7am available! When I returned at 4pm to check-in per receptionist's instructions she was shocked that I had returned???!!!! Although compensatory discount was offered, it was not applied at check-out! Dishes in kitchenette were incomplete for listed max occupancy of 2; bathtub dirty, food left in microwave, thermostat control wires hanging loose and exposed bare on wall; outtake vent in bathroom non-functional with cover grate bent and non-fitting; SLC PD & CHP presence Monday am on grounds.

Pros: I have since stayed at this property a couple of times since my bad experience. It seems that management has changed some things around. So I am going to chalk that up to a one off. I have been able to get a good nights rest, which is important for me. The beds are good. I like the location as it is a quick hop onto I-215 to I-15. There are many great restaurants that surround the property. I would recommend this hotel now as it is a good value for a reasonable price.

Pros: the young man with the afro like hair and tattoos was very kind and so willing to help me with the wifi. I don't remember his name but it started with a D. He was kind enough to let me grab some bread and hot coco for breakfast to go even tho i was 2 mins late form 9am . I really appreciate that . Also the sweet girl who checked me out was so kind too.
Cons: that one lady with hoop earings and read hair idk her name was rude to my nice young afro man. She may not have been rude to me but she was unpleasent.
