Nice pools, family friendly, decent pool side food at regular hotel prices. Quiet woody location. Most staff were friendly. Beds and beddings were comfy.
#1.Checkin person tried to be smart amusing when I waited for the credit card gadget for a while and he said what did instructions said? I told him he was supposed to help me and not make me have to read all that. The reception desk was a bit above eye level and it was dark as I just walked in from outside. He said that all instructions are different, I looked at him “really”and said you should be helping me. Then he started being a bit more courteous as he checked me in. #2. In the evening I went to the bar to watch Astros game. For 15 mins, no wait staff came and served me, and asked if I want something to drink. Another couple came after me and the waitress went straight to them. I am an older non white woman, so they probably think I do not drink alcohol, but at least they could offer coffee, water or coke. You asked I shared my observations.
The gym and spa is magnificent
the rooms are tired and old
Room without balcony Bathroom very small
Stately and comfortable. Staff are very courteous.
The location of this hotel is wonderful, it's a true escape . We ordered room service for breakfast, it was delicious, an ample amount of food, and it was delivered on time.
The Houstonian does luxury in big Texas fashion with Texas-lodge décor and 18 acres of woodlands wrapped around the four-floor expansive resort. The hotel is recognized as the long-term residence of former President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush. Guests today are luxury travelers seeking a leisure vacation.
The Houstonian is secluded on an 18-acre forested property bordering Memorial Park, just outside Houston’s 610 Loop. Other than office buildings, there is not much within walking distance. By car, the location is convenient to major roadways, Uptown Park Mall and Galleria Mall, which can also be reached with a free shuttle ride and offer 400 shops, restaurants, and an ice rink. Also, 15-to-20 minutes away are The Museum of Fine Arts and Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston Symphony, Alley Theatre, Downtown Aquarium-Houston, and George R. Brown Convention Center. Sporting events at Minute Maid Park, the Houston Toyota Center, and NRG Stadium are also just a short distance away.
Luxury is big in amenities on-site. The resort’s star attraction is the Houstonian Club, featuring a state-of-the-art facility that rivals any commercial health club. It offers 250 modern machines, two racquetball courts, indoor/outdoor tennis courts and tracks, an indoor basketball court, rock-climbing walls, and studios for a variety of classes. Steam rooms and saunas are also provided, as is a Kids’ Gym, and a café with healthy options. There is also a Mediterranean restaurant, and another fine dining facility, as well as a stylish Arbor Grill, located poolside and a bar with live performances. Three pool, a full-service spa, a business center, and conference facilities are also available.
Accommodations are simple and elegant with floor-to-ceiling views and modern amenities. Suites and Executive Suites offer finer designs and amenities.
