The service in general was good and the staff were extremely helpful. Swimming pool is great fun for children. I love having tea and coffee in the hotel room. Lovely sea view. They forgot to provide us with the extra bed and our reminder did not seem to work, so as we were too tired to persit we ended up sleeping altogether in the same bed! A bit of a squeeze and the bed wobbled. The hotel rooms do not appear to have been refurbished in years. It is like going back in time. Could not open the windows.
We found our stay very relaxing and comfortable. Your staff where all very accommodating and we shall visit again soon. Thank you. L&R Having to leave to go back to work!
The fantastic pool
The friendly staff and the huge choice at breakfast.
The restaurant meal was excellent and the Manager of the Restaurant was very professional and looked after us. Our first room number 218 was very disappointing - However, we complained and was moved to room 217 which was so much nicer and from then one we were very happy with our accommodation.
The breakfast confusion with credit card when left
Great size room with fabulous sea view. Very helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to find us another equally good room when we decided to stay another night (newlywed couple had booked our room for their 1st night of honeymoon) and then to top it off - seeing a dolphin swimming close to to the beach Bed was a bit too hard
Excellent and enthusiastic attentive staff Food pretty good The bar is drab and lacks atmosphere. The room had an extra charge for the sea view but it was difficult to see the sea because of the scaffolding!!! The room rate should have been reduced to basic.
Excellent breakfast, very friendly staff.
Food, grounds, locallity, lovely room but tired decor
Large, comfortable room and location close to Channel Tunnel The shower didn't work very well (problem with cold water supply?)
Hotel design, friendly staff.
Very friendly staff, nice hotel in good location generally well presented. The heating in the room did not work - had to ask for an electric fire - when taking a shower the water was tepid at best.
Great location and very comfortable
Hotel rooms were in excellent condition Breakfast was poor
The room was clean and larger than booked. I was given a family room for same price as single which was great. The staff were friendly and answered questions I had about the area. Decor was a bit dated though mostly in good repair.
It was quiet with no curfew getting in and out,the food was freshly cooked and served seemingly all by one charming young woman. I saw no other staff. My room was clean, but damp marks and peeling plaster in one corner. No bedside light, the exceptionally high ceiling and light made it difficult for me to read after dark.
Relaxed and friendly
The lounge facilities.
Friendliness of the staff. Clean facilities. Slightly shabby exterior. Could do with a clean-up
Large room, Good value for money. Just what we needed for an overnight stop before catching an early morning ferry. Bathroom needed revamping.
restuarant and restaurant staff were ok, close to channel tunnel there was suppose to be a bottle of wine in the room as special offer, I was told it would be there by reception staff but it wasnt, rang reception but they didnt seem interested and never got the wine, also reception very slow with long waits in which time I saw and heard a lot disatisfied customers, poor reception staff and porters seems to the main problem
Excellent value. Food and accomodation excellent for the rate paid. Very little room in the car park for the amount of guest staying at the hotel.
cheep and breakfast was good
Cheap & convenient for the ferry to France following morning.. We were 'upgraded' to a premier room as the first 3 rooms we were sent to already had people in them! Needs updating & a good clean.
very run down, very poor quality food. Shabby rooms and decoration
sea view from balcony, Decent hot water from shower. Nostalgic visit as last time was 32 years ago old fashioned decor/ceilings, was run like a very touristic hotel in spain, without the weather or spanish waiters. Bar area was big but resembled a bingo hall, no atmosphere, felt cold.
Run down hotel, poorly maintined Nothing, I will never return!
Happy hour was very good and so was the food= the creation of the xmas atmosphere was excellent
Value for Money and the food was excellant Outside noise at 3.30am caused by yobba's shouting and swearing
The hotel is a little out of date, in need of a refurb..
First class service, very friendly staff. Interesting choice of food from their Kurka menu offering good value.
The buttons for the hot water and power shower are above the bathroom door. press before using the shower - no-one tells you. Also, the breakfast cost the same no matter what you get so you might as well get the full english so you.......actually go somewhere else for breakfast.
Nothing Room was cold and gloomy. Shower was nothing more than a trickle. No breakfast before 8am.
The room and bathroom was very clean,we had a meal there too and was very good! Maybe a new bathroom as the bathroom was looking a little past its best.
The staff were veruy friendly and wanted to please. The room was shabby, small and noisy. The bathroom was cold and dreary, the ashower was too short for anyone over 5 feet, the shower head was dirty and clogged and just dribbled water.
Great breakfast, good location, cleanliness Bed was small, shower was on a sloped ceiling so we had to crouch to have a shower
Price, cleanliness, facilities Small car park
Staff were brilliant and the food was unbelieveable good.
Central location. Car park. Excellent & friendly staff and a good resturaunt with a wide menu. Noisy seagulls
Alot of money for a b&b
Very well situated if you want a frequent bus service to just about anywhere in Kent. Our car didn't move from the car park from the time we arrived until the time we went home. Obviously on the main road so not quiet but going out after a very good breakfast and not returning until dinner time this was not a problem.
Warm welcome; very helpful and sympathetic staff when I was a little ill. Very good food.
We were quite late arriving but our room was kept for us Shower would only produce cold water. I booked a twin but was given a double
The warm welcome of the staff. The food was very good and the bar area very pleasant. When we arrived The Red Lion was closed until 6pm (we arrived at about 5pm). There was no one to greet us at reception. There was an envelope with our key in it with our room number. There was another envelope for another later arrival. Just seemed a bit 'unfriendly'.
Free Parking-comfortable lounge although it does not accomodate many. If we were to stay again we would not have same room(No5) but I doubt if we will stay again. Good mattresses and pillows but the quilt was so small that it did not cover the bed never mind us as well. The toilet seat was not secure. No remote for tv.We wee next to the communal corridor inner door so heard it slam everytime someone went through it even at 5:30 am!The old wardrobe had no shelves or rail so what was the purpose of that? The clothes rail did not accomodate the hangers easily.Mmmm sorry state.
Easy method of booking and confirmation. Very friendly staff. Lovely spacious room and en-suite. Good breakfast. The only down thing was the shower which we couldn't control - it was either too hot or very cold.
Staff were friendly. Restaurant was good. The room wasn't serviced for 2 of the days we were staying which meant we had to ask staff for Coffee and Toilet roll. We were given a reduction at the end but I would have rather had the room serviced. I had the impression they were short staffed.
Really lovely b&B, good value for money. Whilst I didn't eat at the restaurant, the food looked really good and lots of people eating there. Most enjoyable stay.
excellent hospitality, excellent meal in the red lion - good value and good quality I woulkd suggest that they improve the reception area or alternatively encourage the guests to go into the bar to check in
We had a wonderful indian meal in their restaurant on the Sunday evening. There was a problem with hot water on Sunday evening.
quite room - great view breakfast - was tepid
The seaview room. The breakfast very good . The smell of curry from lower floor
the view from my bedroom window
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was well placed. The room was very comfortable and clean.
Helpful staff No
Good base for sightseeing i.e Canterbury, Dover, Dungeness etc. in a very pleasant and clean hotel The position of the bathroom on the upper floor was not very convenient
We thought that the lay-out of the room with upstairs bathroom and lounge was delightful and the views were lovely It is always easy to nit-pick about minor details but we thought it was great
The room was amazing - charming, so spacious, very relaxing, and with enormous windows!
Close to the sea I was in a top room and the shower could have been better.
Very good hotel, value for money excellent
The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful. The room was bright and modern. Food on offer was limited and expensive. Water leak from toilet should have been spotted by staff and fixed before our arrival.
Comfortable, spacious room, helpful staff, very convenient for Eurotunnel, Cooked breakfast, very good value. No dislikes
The room was very clean and comfortable. The beds were also not too soft and not too hard. When I made the reservation over the phone I asked the girl to book an early morning call for 3am. When we arrived the lady on the desk didnt know anything about it so she said she would sort the early morning call.. We did not get the early morning call and I woke at 3.55am. We had to be at the eurotunnel for 4.30am...we had no time to shower and had to try and rush our 6 year old. The girl at the desk said she had it down for 4am (she did ring at that time) But the man on the desk did apologise as we were rushing to check out and said they had FORGOT....It was lucky that I did wake.
Conveinient and for a budget stay very comfortable and clean.
Brand new hotel. Excellent impression. Very helpful staff. Shower would not heat up.
Comfortable bed. The food was very poor, shower blocked, toilet seat loose, no gritting on road/carpark. hotel has no atmosphere.one night was more than enough.
Clean, quiet and convenient. We had booked a twin room, but were given a double - and were too tired and already dressed for bed to call and complain by the time we realized the mistake. Your "double" beds are really far too small and bouncy for two people to sleep comfortably (with only only cover to boot). Your clerk should have been more alert.
Good location near the channel tunnel. Modern and comfortable hotel and a good self serve breakfast. Could not get the room warm enough at night time (very cold temperatures outside) and no hot water for a shower in the morning - just not good enough for a modern hotel. Also we had a dog and the charge of £15 I thought was very high.
The hotel was brand new & not busy. Very clean, nice decor. The evening meal was so bad that the hotel did not charge us. The four of us (we were with sister & brother in law) ordered soup which was cold so had to go back & steak that was so rare & gristly, running with blood. We are not normally complainers but waiter was embarrassed & manager apologised in the morning. We also spotted chef smoking outside kitchen doors from the car park in the morning as we were leaving which didn't look good.
The helpfulness and warm welcome, lush comfortable room with fantastic shower.
Excellent stay! The Relish was wonderful and we will definately be returning next year. Rooms were beautiful, very clean and stylish. Cake and coffee was great too. Only down side was the pillows were too soft!.
The staff were so friendly and the hotel was spotless. It was like having all the comforts of home with a very high standard of elegance, style and class. I love the idea of the kitchen with fresh drinks and homemade cake that we could use as often as we like and the breakfast was also fantastic. I would definately recommend anyone to stay in this hotel.
Very good friendly excellent service really could not fault it. Could do with a lift and parking was a problem
The room was beautifully decorated, excellent facilities throughout the hotel including a coffee machine downstairs where you could help yourself anytime.
The location was perfect for the 40th wedding anniversary party we attended at the Leas Cliff Hall and also to access the beach the following morning for a lovely stroll towards Sandgate and back through the nature park/trail. We will bring our bikes next time as perfect for leisure cycle. Complimentary beverages (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and cakes very nice touch and delicious tasting too! The breakfast was also very good. We stayed in the Cliff top room and had a fabulous view of the white cliffs of Dover, just as it said we would on the website. No bad points to report as our experience was very good.
Nicely decorated and furnished. Friendly staff. Very clean. The cooked breakfast was lukewarm and we didn't feel that the bacon had been cooked enough.
Very friendly staff. None
Hospitality from Chris and Sarah Free drinks, DVDs, wireless, etc. Breakfast was very good Parking was a bit tricky but the hotel has 2 private parking places down the road.
Room size good. Helpful friendly service. Clean facilities.
Proper English Inn, very friendly staff Some decor was a little tired, but this was a very minor point
good freshly prepared food friendly staff an ideal place to stay prior to boarding the eurotunnel train the bathroom was not of a very high standard and the room was cold on arrival
Evening meal choices, village setting, easy access to Folkestone & tunnel Easy to find using SATNAV, but directions / map would have been helpful.
Staff were exceptionally friendly, service was excellent and the room was warm and comfortable. The food was superb, both dinner and breakfast. Couldn't find any.
Clean bedroom, helpful staff Water kettle very badly kept (Limescale thick and green). Heating did'nt work on the first night.
warm and friendly, food massive portions,
The area is nice, a bit far away from shops but in pleasant surroundings. Free parking is a plus, it's a pub, good for adults, so not ideal for children. The plumbing leaves a lot to be desired. difficult to get a warm shower.
We were very impressed with the extensive evening Menu. The food was always freshly cooked, nicely presented, large portions and the service was good. The prices were also extremely reasonable Although we didn't have a problem in general with the presence of the large dog that was at the Hotel,as it was always very well behaved, we did feel that it wasn't quite right that it was allowed to sit at the end of the tables whilst we were eating.
The food was all freshly prepared, using local sources where possible. No complaints whatsoever.
A beautiful place. Our room was bigger than our appartment and was very clean. Delicious cooked breakfast.
The cottages form part of a 12th century fortified farm - effectively a castle. It's steeped in history, has terrific views over Romney Marshes and Dungeness point. The cottages have been refurbished to a very high standard. My father in law has been inspired to write a book after staying for the weekend! I couldn't fault any part of the package offered. The staff are also excellent. There is a pub a short walk away - the County Members - this is fine but fairly basic.
The hotel is good value if you can get a deal, like we did. The staff were helpful and the room although compact, was nice and clean.
Our room was really lovely. And all the staff were so helpful with our baby, going out of their way to make her happy! Our room was opposite one of the function suites, and on our first night there was a function on. It was very loud and carried on til quite late, and the noise kept waking the baby up.
Easy access good location choice of restaurant bar meals and as a motorcyle traveller in room hairdryer was good. Limited parking
Very good service & accommodation. Clean & reassuring. None
Excellent friendly staff & service, especially the young lady on the bar down stairs on the night of the 16th sept an asset to the hotel. None
Limited facilities and felt a little bit unclean
I particularly liked the 'traditional' feel of the Hotel which was welcoming, very well maintained and extremely spacious. It has a certain 'charm' that one doesn't feel very often - and I stay in various Hotels on a weekly basis.
Convenient location Restaurant food quality poor
The room was a great size We called to confirm our reservation and the morning staff changed it to next day arrival. So on arrival it took an extra 15 min to get us sorted out. This was after a 3 hour drive and 8pm at night. Then after they sorted out a room demanded payment before we got the keys.
Comfortable stay, rooms clean and tidy Restaurant food not the best, steak tough. Very dark in restaurant.
Clean helpfull staff good sea view very quite hotel Curtains and bed spread a little old flush toilet not quite good windows not very clean
flexibility. They accommodated my need for an early breakfast on departure day Clean, tidy, easy reach of rest of Folkestone. everything was absolutely fine and good value for money
breakfast the bed was very uncomfortable, shower was shabby and took 10 min for hot water to come through. TV was was very poor. Poor curtains and nets.
Convenient to central Folkestone Rooms shabby and in poor decorative condition. Wash and shower facilities archaic. No car parking available. Screaming seagulls all night!
Leaving Total lack of cleanliness. The shower hadn´t been cleaned in months.
The location of the hotel is excellent for the event at the Leas Cliffe Hall which we were attending. Breakfast was good, and the hotel staff very courteous and kind. The shower and bathroom facilities were a bit modest, and there was no provision to be near a mirror if one wanted to use a hair dryer.
It was for only one night The lift kept breaking down and I was on the fourth floor
location and accessability to town yes the washing facilities were in the bedroom
very good breakfast......quick check in and out.....good position on sea front clifftop no shower or similar attachment in bathroom....no remote for tv.....noisy seagulls but could not close the window...had to park car about 400 yards away.....small rooftop room but probably due to availability and late booking
Nice but very old hotel in need of restauration. The bathroom
Did'nt stay in it long enough to really enjoy anything. We were out and about exploring Folkestone Breakfast
Only stayed overnight on route to France. But found it ideal for a one night stop.
Nothing particularly Very tired and jaded - though we got a large room there were many niggly unsatisfactory items - broken shower curtain - unstuck wallpaper - windows that were nailed shut - really the list is endless
Our room was very clean and the downstairs bar had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The en-suite bathroom, although well appointed, the workmanship of the fitters was poor which gave it a rather shabby appearance, The spacious bedroom had minimal heating and the wind through the closed sash windows blew the curtains. I would not want to stay there in cold weather.
The friendly staff and "old world" victorian setting. N?A
Convenient situation for local amenities Would have liked a hairdryer in room
conveniently situated for attending leas cliff room / hotel in general could do with updating / redecorating
the efficiency of the staff, and the location Unfortunately the shower head was cracked and there were no shower gels supplied... ( bad planning on my part ) AND those damn SEAGULLS.... ear plugs next time....
The proprietor was kind and helpful. The room was very quiet. The hotel is a bit run down. The coffee was awful.
